An accidental ritual unleashes them to reign again... Introverted and suppressed omega Liam had no idea that the adventure and excitement he’s longed to experience as an archaeologist would fall into his lap at the Smithsonian Institute. But that’s exactly what happens when his supervisor tells him to inspect three giant dragon statues from the Alps and he unwittingly awakens one of them. Suddenly, there’s a gorgeous, thousands of years-old Roman being standing in front of him—and he declares that Liam is the fated mate he’s waited for to release him.
Draconus is the eldest of three dragon-shifter brothers who ruled the Roman world until the ultimate betrayal drove them into a magical slumber. Alive for the first time in ages, he’s thrilled that his delectable mate, the prophesied hero destined to rule at his side, is standing right in front of him.
But Liam denies he’s who Draco has waited for. The world has radically transformed since the dragon brothers last drew breath. Too bad the traitorous force that nearly wiped them out centuries ago didn’t end up extinct as well…
Containing the Alpha Dragon is the first book in the Alpha Dragon Brothers trilogy and is an Mpreg dragon-shifter romance. It’s full of sizzling hot men, ruthless enemies, and an epic HEA.
Let me start by saying Susi Hawke did this story way better. I’m sorry but the character of Draco was rude and condescending and Liam was a complete mess. I felt these two had sex and that was the extent of their relationship. There was no real love or at least respect. The character of Liam was such a pushover and Draco’s thoughts of him were horrible. For me, I heavily skimmed because I was annoyed with these two.
So, this was a well-written book and the characters were well-fleshed out. But. Here goes. I didn’t like Draco, the dragon alpha. Liam was a bit over sensitive and didn’t really grow too much of a backbone during the story but I couldn’t stand Draco for most of this book. He recognizes that Liam is his mate but then kinda takes it back as he thinks/says unkind things about Liam.
Then he pushes for sex with Liam because he’s feels like it and Liam is convenient. And the sex sounds.... unappealingly clinical. The author tries to make it sound like they have this passionate weekend together but it comes off as just two guys doing it because it’s a bodily urge. Liam says he enjoys it but there’s not much in the way of foreplay.
Finally, when they’re together after being apart for a while Draco finds out Liam is pregnant and it’s like a switch is flipped. He changes entirely. It’s such a sudden change that when he says he’s in love with Liam is feels disingenuous. Oh, and he still calls Liam a wimp right at the end.
I like tough, dominant alpha types but not jerks who are mean for no reason with inadequate character development.
That all being said, I’m still going to read the sequel. I want to find out what happens to his brothers and I hope they’re different from Draco.
I liked the premise of this book and I really loved the cover art. I was expecting a story with adventure, some angst, suspense and danger. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like the potential was fulfilled. The characters had very little depth. The Alpha dragon Draco was mostly arrogant and selfish until about the last quarter of the book after he found out Liam was pregnant, them he suddenly became domestic. The Omega Liam was weak and whiny, and he pretty much stayed that way. They had hot sex, but other than that, I didn't really feel the connection between them. They didn't really work together like mates. There was no adventure. I thought they would go out to search for Draco's brothers, but they hardly even seemed to care what had happened to them or what Jane had done with them. There was really no suspense either. When the enemy shows up, they are quickly and easily vanquished. It's an ok story, but I thought it could have been more and focused on the stone dragons, how they got changed to stone, finding out if there were still others, etc. Honestly, I was disappointed.

Just from the blurb i thought this would be a grittier version if the Hawke/Piper series and i was 100% down for that. I did not finish this. The MCs were annoying didnt work well together. I was bored to tears through the 40ish percent i finished.
Way way WAY too much narration. The world building was like a boring lecture. It was tedious.
Both characters were terrible. Draco was annoyingly "alpha" and unapologetically so. Liam may as well have not even been a person. I get shy and submissive but he was just the most horrible extremes of both characteristics. I thought itd be cool for the MCs to be prophesied to mate but not super into it. It wasnt. When i stopped liam was in love for some weird reason and draco still barely liked liam. Just Bad.
Overall i wish this was good but it wasnt. Was excited about the blurb and let down in a big way. Cant recommend this and probably wont look at this author again.
I had a hard time reading this book. First, dragons weren’t a part of Roman culture, they come from the Germanic cultures that surrounded the empire. Second, Liam, as an anthropologist, would have had a much more educated understanding of the development of culture from prehistory to the modern era. And lastly, what was the motivation of the vanguard to pull those statues from the Alps with any kind of expectation that they were real dragons? There was no indication that the stone form was normal, or expected, from Draco’s memory. Why would there have even been a thought of dragons returning? And if dragons are so scarce, how have the vanguard remained an organized force? Wouldn’t their whole reason for existing have been taken care of?
Overall, there were so many plot holes and inconsistencies in this book that I was never able to suspend my disbelief enough to actually enjoy it.
Liam is examining a large green dragon statues when suddenly there is a man where it had been. Omega Liam works at the Smithsonian Institute as an art restorer so when his superviser gets him to be in to accept a delivery he is in for an early start. The delivery arrives shotly after he does contains three large crates which he is left to open. Each contains a Dragon statue in different colors but the green on attracts his attention. He need to list what will ned doing to each and starts cleaning the green dragons face then rubs his nose against its nose. Suddenly there is a man standing where the statue had been who gives his name as Draco and the last thing he remembers he was in Ancient Rome. A MM MPreg romance to relax and enjoy.

This is a great start to a new series and I like that it is so different from other dragon and Mpreg stories that I have read. It is fast-paced, I love the world building, the storyline is great, there is danger and mystery, some surprising twists and the characters are intriguing. Liam and Draco are good for each other and I like how well they deal with the many obstacles they face. I love Liam but it did take me a while to like Draco. My favorite part is the wonderful relationship Liam has with his fathers. I feel that there are some unanswered questions about the vanguard but hopefully there will be a resolution in the next book.

I am new to this author but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book very much. I absolutely love dragon shifter books, there really aren't that many of them being so many animals to choose from. With that being said I find it hard to read books where characters aren't equals. But in most books they end up with someone who treats them as an equal or they end up becoming equal. This book was great Liam started to come into his own, as did Draco. I would definitely recommend this book to lovers of mpreg, shifters and even just mm readers who want to try something new. It is a amazing book that is worthwhile.

My first not so good review. I'd peg it the writing of a novice but I see she has written others. I loved the premise, Alpha/Omega/Dragon-Shifter, but my Alpha hero agreed with his Omega that he was weak and darn near unworthy of him the strong Alpha. I kept reading to see if it improved, hence the realistic part...I totally bought that it could be any two modern men but I read to avoid reality. I prefer the fantasy where both lovers see only the best in each other and strengthen the weak areas! I'll try another of her books but may need to chalk it up to dissimilar tastes.
There were some editing errors that should have been caught before publishing. The beginning arc was very good and titillating, but the characters never progressed further than that. There was not character growth, only hardships for them to push through. They still were very much the same characters upon introduction which is kinda sad seeing how lonely and pathetic Liam is and how mean Draco was. They didnt even fall in love. They just had sex enough times to have a baby and decided to stay together otherwise they both would be in danger.
Not a romance, but an okay action fic with some erotic scenes.
I got to just past 50% and I just couldn't do it anymore. I honestly wanted to stop when first meeting Draco but I told myself that maybe he would change as the book went on, but no I just couldn't do it. Draco is a total tool! I'm sorry but you can't just claim that your characters are intelligent and then have them think like sex starved meatheads! Maybe they fall in love by the end of the book and if you want to take a shot at it be my guest, but I'm out. P.S. The sex was lack luster to top it off, totally skimmed over, so not worth reading up to it!
A beautiful dragon statue turns into a sexy man talking about mates.
Liam is a nerd and an omega, but no one knows about his condition. When he is told that he needs to restore the dragon statue to its former state he is overwhelmed with glee.
Little did he know that his fate was about to unfold. Drako the dragon is brought to life with the touch and kiss of his fore told mate Liam.
The following tale of danger and intrigue will grab your mind and heart. A great read, I highly recommend this book!
This book would have benefited from a lesson in showing, not telling. There were entire paragraphs telling us how awkward Liam was. I wanted to experience it and learn to like him has a character. Then there was Draco who was too damn proud and pompous for me to take him seriously or care about him. He was just annoying and I didn't like how he talked about all his previous conquests like bro this is your mate could you not treat him like another notch in your bedpost?
Containing the Alpha Dragon by Emma Knox is a wonderfu story to read. This is book number one in this series which is a start to a brand new series. I am so in love with this story cause it has dragons in it and I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves dragons.

Interesting story. It was a unique dragon-shifter story than what I was used to. I knew from the start I was going to want to read the story for the other two dragons as well. I would have liked to feel a better connection between Draco and Liam but it was still good enough.

The potential for a great story is in the early details but most possibilities fall by the wayside and the story becomes a rather simple mpreg tale, with a bit of quick action but no detail. At the end of the story, I have more questions than answers.
I don’t usually go for m preg books but this one caught me by surprise and once started I couldn’t put it down. I liked the way it told the story switching from Drako to Liam giving both sides. A thoroughly good read.
