Wild and uncontrolled, Kardos faces his new circumstance with an unbound fury, but discovers that some things are not within his control.
His undiluted obsession consumes him, until he is forced to see that the only thing he truly needs, he may no longer own.
Struggling to find her strength, Shaya makes little headway in her new life in the Southern Lands. Her Alpha cannot be reasoned with and is even more of a beast than he ever was.
She experiences just how deeply his passion runs, but realizes she may never survive if she cannot find a way to escape him

Personal self serving shout out: this is my 100th book read/reviewed for the year. Halfway point of my challenge goal. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 🤩 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
While this is the eighth installment in the " Myth Of Omega" series, it's really the second of three installment in the Shinno Kardos & Katashaya story.
WARNING:Not for the faint of heart, this is a dark epic fantasy erotic romance that may serve as triggers for those sensitive to non-dub con, sexual and physical abuse, and violence. Consider yourself warned.
In my previous review I included that I had concerns over this couple, this relationship. I want to be clear that I'm an eclectic reader who has minimal hard limits. I've read YA to horror and not flinched over content. I am not a prude and enjoy poly as much as same sex. I follow the philosophy that life and love comes in all sizes and shapes and 'no two people read the same book'.
That all being said, the previous book made me uncomfortable, which continues to be the case here. Not regarding the sexual content or general story line itself. I won't share my feelings in a review for Kardos & Katashaya's three books as I own my feelings and don't feel my 'discovery' of the author's end game for the two would be helpful for potential readers.
As usual, there is a lot of diplomatic talk which can be a drool but the moments he shares with his omega are very entertaining. At first, they have a lot of unspoken problems but he punishes her to ensure her obedience in the future. His tribe cares a lot about hair, it's like their glory. ["br"]>["br"]>
What a delight. This is easily my favorite couple of the series, and also my favorite land and culture.
The heroine is quite clever, and ironically the strongest in the series, though she views herself as weak.
The only downside, and it’s been apparent the last couple of books, is that the editing isn’t as strong as the first couple. It’s not distracting from the story, but it is obvious. Not enough to lose a star though.
Own to Obsess by Zoey Ellis is book 8 in the Myth of Omega Series, but is the second book in the story of Shaya and Kardos, So you should read the previous book first. This book does open us up to Kardos point of view more. Shaya of course is missing her homeland and is still realizing that Kardos may just see her as a prize that he has. Kardos doesn't win many praises from me for his treatment of Shaya but he so focused on wanting to be the High Chief he may loose what means the most. This book doesn't end their story and will continue into the next one.
I loved how different this book felt compared to the author's first two trilogies. It wasn't that this was better but that it offered a very different culture to explore and prevented the feeling of having read the story before.
Shaya owned her feelings and actions and is a genuinely strong FMC. The story was enriched by well-written side characters who felt genuine and had depth. I loved that this is an author who writes about strong friendships between women, rather than making them competitors and bitches.
Kardos generally demonstrated a deep level of care for Shaya, but sometimes his stupid decisions resulted in him hurting her. The events at the end of the book genuinely took me by surprise and I loved that the author could do that.
Holy Jizzabel. I can’t say enough about this heroine, she’s sweet but has a great kick to her that wont leave people disappointed. I love the heroine BUT the hero always rules the story for me- if the hero sucks then the whole story will for me- Kardos is my exact kind of hero. He’s cruel but sweet in his own way, he’s an anti hero/ultimate alpha. I will warn you that this book ends in a cliffhanger- per the usual Zoey Ellis style-and I cannot wait to see the conclusion to this couples story!
Better than the last book in this trilogy but it still contains a lot of physical abuse by Kardos towards Shaya. He is brutal in his punishments. He hurts her for 5 days straight. The last half of the book so better. They start to reconnect and his treatment of her improves after she suffers through an incident involving his people. I still hate Kardos and his cruelty towards Shaya and I hate her for putting up with it. The best part of this book is the end where Shaya finally takes matters into her own hands and leaves!

Omega verse – Myth of Omega Book 8 – Own to Obsess Primally erotic! Author Zoey Ellis sure knows how to pack a punch! BOOM!!! I have just finished Own to Obsess and my hands are shaking. That was just so fast paced and plot twisty that I could barely keep my jaw from the floor!
Our story picks up from within the last chapter of Book One and is told from our Alpha’s POV. This is an entirely different perspective, so we get a glimpse of how the mind of Shinno Kardos works. Good or bad, anger or passionate embrace, we FEEL what he feels in that moment when realises his life goal of becoming High Chief has just been shredded by one, small claiming bite from his captive Omega. The feeling I’m going with - ENRAGED! The consequences for Shaya are immediate. He uses the sensual pull of his hard, angular Alpha body as a weapon as his rage at her perceived disobedience explodes, destroying the furnishings in his bedroom between bouts of deliciously ferocious mating. That same pull enslaving her as she enters the Haze brought on by her claiming mark upon him. Shaya is subdued, placated and bonded by her mating’s with Kardos during this period. Once this Haze period ends, Shaya must accept the punishment for her rash actions. It is during this time Shaya concludes that Kardos views her only as his prize and does not really care for her beyond his ownership of an Omega mate. Shaya’s emotions see-saw as she is shuttled between the home of the Shinno who has laid an ownership claim on her and thereby the exclusive use of her body and Rozalia, the mother of her missing and only friend from within the tribe and her sole companion during the sea voyage to the Southern Lands. Rozalia is the shinno’s trusted potionist and a skilled healer. She is also a quiet confidant of the shinno, and he often seeks her counsel regarding the state of mind of his Omega. An intense relationship builds between Rozalia and Shaya as the two women struggle to understand each other and their motivations. This causes a high level of emotional distrust for Shaya and the effort to maintain her sense of self is strained for our Omega. The world building again is amazing and we really get the sense of the Southern Land Isles as we traverse the pages from plot twist to plot twist. We meet the ruling High Chief who also happens to be the biological father of our Alpha Kardos. We also meet the alpha shinnos from the other tribes of the Southern Lands, all of which are vying for the same seat of power, that of the High Chief position of the Southern Lands. Without giving away any further plot points, I will add that the excellent character development really gives us a balanced view of our Alpha/Omega coupling. Added to this is the development of supporting players who create for us the bigger picture! Ms Ellis brings us to the brink of bliss for these two, but it’s a false sense of hope! Just when we think it will be smooth sailing for Kardos and Shaya, BAM!!! Another plot twist that we did not see coming and OMG that cliff-hanger ending is killer! There are lots of scenes here that are possible triggers and it is definitely an 18+ read. I have given it five fabulous stars and can’t hardly wait for the conclusion of this couple’s trilogy! I received an advanced reader copy of this book to review.
Unbelievably frenetic ending!!! I am still trying to reel in all my feelings and thoughts. What a tremendous curve ball Zoey throws at us. Did not see that one coming. For all of those who have followed the Myth of Omega series, you are in for a spectacular ride. For those of you who happen to fall into Own to Obsess - there is plenty more where this came from! I don't want to spoil anything but I will say that we get to meet the Southern Isles up close and personal. And we learn a little more about Kardos and about what really drives his obsession. But most importantly we see Shaya shine like no other Omega has before. Underestimating her will be the undoing of everyone includes us readers 😲
With how much I enjoyed the first one, it's amazing to me just how much I had to DRAAAGGGGG myself to push through this one. This series fell victim to what so many other ones suffer from as well. The author has an idea, and it can even be a REALLY good one, but for some reason they decide-- probably prior to even writing it-- that is HAS to be a trilogy. Then you get these stories that have pretty intriguing premises, but pages upon pages of filler material with very little actually happening to move the story along because they're having to "save" material to put in subsequent books so they can have an actual story. If I'm being completely honest with myself, I could feel the potential for this with the first installment, but I was so very hopeful that this wouldn't be the case. But it was. Barely anything of consequence happened, the sex became entirely too repetitive, and all intrigue I once had, slowly dissipated. I don't think I will continue with this series. Not at the moment anyway. What a shame because it truly had potential.
Everyone has a stubborn streak, but I think these are some of Zoey's most stubborn characters. Good Book, but I did feel like some chapters where just fillers. Maybe this couple was meant to be a two book than three.
Kardos you a$$!! Seriously going to leave me hanging on that cliffhanger?! Well good thing I downloaded book 3 cause he better make things right! As for this series this is book 2 in a trilogy. Kardos is an idiot. His omega Shaya is incredible and it will make you upset mad and yet also cheer for this couple as you read along. Solid 4 stars. Can’t wait to see characters that desperately need to be developed as they should be! ;)
This is the stuff I was craving with the last trilogy from this series. Zoey Ellis really delivered. I was afraid things would digress, but I was pleasantly surprised. The progression of the story here wasn't exactly what I expected, and I liked the change. I expected this novel to be really action packed, but it had a steady and intriguing pace that kept you hooked and engaged, and ended things with a cliff hanger that leaves you with no choice but to read the next book.
I thought Kardos was a bit of an asshole in the last book. But hey, I like broody assholes, and he had room to improve as a character so I let it slide. But his attitude doesn't change all that much in this book. Kardos is very attentive to Shaya in certain ways, but completely oblivious in the few ways that really matter. He's a typical stubborn male who thinks he's doing everything he's supposed to when he's not. You see Shaya suffer because of this on and off throughout the book.
He's also a little selfish, and waaay too centered on his own goals instead of thinking of how Shaya is feeling. Shaya is also a little too sweet, patient, and naïve when it comes to Kardos. She obviously lived a very sheltered life before, but by the end of this book she is DONE. And I liked that sassy, "I don't give a fuck anymore", change in her. I hope it leaves room for some character development for both her and Kardos in the next book.
Yes, the ending was predictable, but I still enjoyed it.....
What can I say? A certain amount of predictability can be nice sometimes in books. And Zoey Ellis did it just right in this one. Cause I'm biting my nails in anticipation for the next book now. I'm just desperately hoping it doesn't disappoint.
As of now, I highly recommend this book and it's predecessor. They were both a joy to read. This is alpha omega verse done right. 4 stars.
Powerful, emotional, compelling and deeply erotic Omegaverse.
I fell in love with the Myth Of Omega series from the very first book and keep waiting to see if I will be disappointed, but unbelievably (or as I have come to realize, totally believable) Zoey Ellis manages to release exceptional book after book and Own To Obsess is definitely another winner. No one can write an anti-hero and make you love him quite like this author. Be warned that this is book 2 of a trilogy and before reading this, you should at least read book No 7 of this series. ***NOTE*** I will be mentioning a major spoiler of the previous book in this review, so if you haven’t read book 7, don’t read further.
We pick up where Shaya has done the inconceivable and bitten Kardos, claiming him as hers before he has a chance to "give her away". This throws a big wrench in Kardos’ plans and once again he can be a true ass in this book - the perfect anti-hero. He is obsessed with getting what he has always wanted, the only difference being that he now also wants Shaya – greedy much? I loved how I kept wanting to throttle Kardos for his actions to feeling sorry for him and rooting for him. Quite a shocker was to read the actual reasons why Kardos wants to become the High Chief so badly.
As for Shaya, she has proved that she is not the meek little Omega Kardos wants her to be and when it boils downs to it, she will take matters into her own hands. In this book, Shaya is once again put to the test in more ways than one but this little Omega is stronger than even she knows.
This book managed to captivate and draw me in to such an extent that at times I was holding my breath and others breathing quite hard, then finding myself wanting to talk out loud & tell the characters what to do and in the end, I was left with a serious book hangover. Written from a dual pov, there is no cheating, it is not a standalone (second book of a trilogy) and ends in a cliffhanger.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Own To Obsess Is the the second part of Kardos and shaya in the own trilogy. It is Dark Fantasy Romance.
I don’t know what to say... it hurt so much to read about how Shaya was treated by Kardos. He’s is sooo selfish. I feel nothing for Kardos. All throughout reading Own to Obsess it was always about him and never about Shaya. He wants her to be the way he wanted if she disobeyed she gets punished. Mind you, I read a lot of dark books and the guys are always assholes but at least they don’t punish you for being you. This is what Kardos kept doing to Shaya. In my eyes that’s abuse. I don’t blame her what’s so ever for what she does next. You can’t Control a person and punish them like they are nothing. They will never give up.
I’m still looking forward for reading Kardos and Shaya happy ending, but again I don’t Know if I will be forgiven like Shaya.
This novel was given to me by the author for An honest review.
What a great series. She writes in such a way that while I read I feel so many emotions. Highly recommend series Amazing characters, well written and paced. The plot was well thought out and kept you reading till the end. Bring on the last book......
“Myth of Omega” is Zoey Ellis’s Omega-verse series. The author has developed what has become a signature format for this series following a single couple/story arch across three books. As of this review she has now penned the love stories of three couples (x3 books each series) published across a total of 9 unique titles. With one Novella thrown in for a total of 9.5 titles.
Myth of Omega’s third and final x3 book installment is titled “Own.” Before i roll into a quick summary of the plot a) it is recommended to read all books but it is possible to read just one 3 book arch. b) if you had to choose just one couple/book set the third one is by far the best of the three.
Once again the next series of books follows characters briefly introduced in the previous books. Alpha Shinno Kardos had traveled to the west from his harsh homelands in the southern isles to trade skilled warriors to King Malloron. Observing Malloron discover his Omega Kados folds obtaining an Omega for the south into the negotiations.
Shaya’s our omega heroine turns out to be that omega. Malloron is at first unaware of Shaya’s existence offering Kados her older sister to fulfill the deal. To save her sister Shaya sacrifices herself. In my opinion this is the genesis of why the third trio of books are superior. Our heroine is sweet and she is someone you root for through each obstacle faced.
The alpha Kardos comes across as a “know-it-all” in the least and a “raging jerk” at worst. We eventually learn more about his motivations and Kardos grows as a character. He learns that people can’t read your mind, that your intentions are not always obvious and if you don’t explain yourself you can come across as a jerk. Especially when cultural differences are thrown in. We also get to see Kardos having to deal with the ramifications of his actions. Work hard to earn back returning to good standing in the affections of his omega our heroine and grovel. No we don’t need to kick someone when they are down, but I hate it when a book glosses over someone’s being a big “A,” with all forgiven with barely an apology. Not the case here.
I recommend the whole 9 book series but especially the Own final 3 book installment. Enjoy. Happy reading.

Before I get too in-depth in my review, please know that this is an intense, darker relationship. There are scenes in which the male character sexually dominates the relationship as seen in Book 1, Own to Obey. But in this one, there is more of a consensual aspect between the couple in this sequel. As you may have read in the synopsis, this is NOT a book I recommend for younger readers as the content is very descriptive for mature audiences.
But with that being said, if you love reading romances with a primitive, raw, possessive drive between the two, this is definitely a series you will want to read ASAP!
Right away, we are pushed back to where Book 1 left off. And man, is it steamy!
I compare this book a lot to the relationship seen between GOT's Daenerys and Drogo. The vibes between them is VERY similar to how it in this book/show! A girl is swept away to this savage and tribal world by this beast of a man where she is to become the ultimate Omega.
I don't know what it is about this series, but I absolutely cannot get enough of it!
I gave this one 5 out of 5 stars. The writing is addictive and captures so much emotion with all the characters. The underlying problems in their society both push and pull the couple together. There are sweet moments along with obsessive ones, and I highly recommend this one for readers who wanted to see more from the GOT's primitive couple!
This book was pretty typical Zoey Ellis fun. There's good world building, a story that moves along quickly, a heroine that is likeable, and an alpha male that generally makes stupid macho decisions, but you enjoy him anyway.
This one picks right up where the last one stops, so please read the previous book first or you will be totally confused!
The things I really liked about this book: +We finally find out why all the other alphas hate Kardos! +There is some good relationship building. +Some great extra world building details.
What I didn't really like: -This book needs another round of editing. I think it's the most unpolished of all of Ellis's books to date. -It drives me crazy when an MC doesn't just explain why he/she is doing something! Everyone seems to know what the discovery challenge is, so why keep it a secret from Shaya before she does it!
Overall, though, it's just what I would expect from a book in this series. Really enjoyed it.
Own to Obey, Own to Obsess, Own to Obtain by Zoey Ellis are three books in her Myth of Omega Series. I don’t usually review books in a series together, but the books are relatively short, ending on cliffhangers with the final book tying the other two together. Tribe leader, Kardos appears in the previous books and is an ally of King Malloron. His lands have been without an omega for years and he is determined to strengthen his rights as the designated leader by bringing an omega back with him. When he requests Shaya’s sister as his people’s omega, Shaya makes the sacrifice and goes in her sister’s place. The voyage to this new land is arduous and Shaya does not know or understand the customs of her new tribe. Kardos often appears impatient and does not take the time to explain her new role. Misunderstanding and hardships splinter their developing relationship. And it doesn’t help that Kardos wants to make her his own even if it goes against his initial plans. He uses subterfuge to keep her in the dark. Their give and take relationship play out over the next two books as they get closer and then find themselves at odds. I enjoyed their heated story, even though Kardos was needlessly mean ☹ at times and Shaya made silly choices that put her in danger. Overall, this is a good story in the omega verse with an IR couple and plenty of action and angst.
I do believe I now love this couple MORE than the other 2. This book is amazing. Shaya is such a good hearted quiet girl who has so much determination and is very intelligent. She wants to be happy with Kardos and works diligently to make that happen. Kardos's determination to be High Chief is still his primary goal. He's slowly discovering what Shaya really is to him but his life long goal of being chief and all of his hard work blinds him into believing that all will be ok because Shaya knows what those goals mean to him. He is a true Alpha male in his beliefs that his wants and needs have to be first for both of them. His relationship with the current high chief has been interesting to watch. Kardos believes that his father has no knowledge of who he really is and how hard he's worked and in fact it's just the opposite. Its been enlightening watching that relationship unfold. This book is a fantastic read, ups and downs, twists and turns with a burning love unfolding and not to mention another great cliff hanger!!! Can't wait for the next one! Still hoping new couples pop up and extend this series! Absolutely love it! (I received an ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review. )
I received an advanced reader copy of this book to review.
This is an Alpha that demands such perfection from hisself that he is losing much without noticing. Kardos and Shaya have a tumultous relationship. Kardos doesn't realize what his obsession with wanting to have it all does to Shaya the two don't see much eye to eye unless there in bed. Second installment in this series and is by far my favorite because Shaya is very smart.
What did I like? First of all, the heat between these two is nuclear, and Shaya is always two steps ahead of him it seems which keeps Kardos on his toes. I can't wait for part three since the ending left me hanging. I want more of this series!
Would I buy this book? Absolutely... anyone who loves these omegaverse novels will delight. The author keeps her books priced fair and she is available on many platforms.
Thoughts for the author? Please don't let this series end... omegaverse that are heterosexual are hard enough to find. Strangely I want you to write one that is a bit more hard core with a dirty talking alpha, but this series is amazing and I will miss it. These are definitely books I can pull out and reread. Love this five star series!
3.5 maddening stars. A sequel that again takes awhile to find it's footing before saving all for the end.
While this one gets better at development of the characters, and there's some growth between them, the all too common withholding all pertinent/valuable information becomes a common (and extremely irritating) theme throughout it. And there are odd inconsistencies that start to develop. Someone in a new environment never gets a basic highlight reel tour of the place...but is expected to understand it's importance to it's people? The main character ONLY at the end notices she hasn't seen her closest friend after months have passed? A previously possessive mate decides to make a very public display? No one seems to think basic explanations can avoid disaster? While this one is slightly better paced, it definitely veered dangerously close to jumping the shark a few times. While I still enjoy the characters, I'm on the fence about going any further. Partly because of the above, but mainly due to the way it ends (ridiculously) that made me roll my eyes. If you like evasive surly dudes, and people that can never address anything head on- this is the book for you.
Holy smokes! The steam train hasn't stopped for one moment! I continue to be impressed by the high quality of story that we get and I can't help but feed by cravings! We have some great characters and the two go back and forth on a trip that will literally change both of their lives. They are so much more than they could ever know to one another as this point. And the shocks keep coming. He is a match for her despite her opposing nature and his lack of understanding.
The meeker of the two did something quite rash. And now they are both to deal with the consequences.
I didn't see that coming! Oh my goodness! You go girl. And in doing so this man gets to keep on being greedy for her. Like he could ever be anything else! He is absolutely gone for her and the feelings that he has for her delight me to no end! The way they react to one another continues to delight me even as it frustrates me! It is going to be worth it when all is said and done! This has some wonderful dynamics between our characters and I love that we are getting a whole love story. The HEA is coming! I'll be sad but happy that our couple will finally get a chance to be happy without extra heartache. So worth it!
