I was gifted this book and read it out of obligation. I started reading it over spring break last year and didn't care for it. With all of the present free time, I thought I'd try to finish it. I quickly decided that the last 50 pages were not going to change the way I felt about this book and so I abandoned it. Here are my thoughts:
-MK Mueller has some great strategies for changing your thinking and moving you forward through positivity. -I don't understand why she had to create a whole system with its own lingo. She spends so much time explaining her lingo that it's simply extra. -Mueller made one statement that I thought was extremely dangerous: She claimed that you must take Full Responsibility for where you are in life and the things that happen to you. She even uses multiple examples of this within abusive relationships. This might be appropriate for adults to reflect on, for they made some choices in getting into the relationship. However, young people who have no control over their family situation should not be sent this message. Since she apparently speaks to students in high school (and maybe younger), I just could not imagine telling a child that they have to take Full Responsibility for their situation if their parents are alcoholics or emotionally unavailable. That seems ludicrous to me. She seems to over-extend her principles so that it seems like this method is THE answer for anybody and everybody. -She uses Christian philosophies, and even quotes Mark 11, but doesn't include God as any part of the process.
I think her main points could certainly have been explained in 20 pages or less. I would happily peruse a pamphlet or an outline of her 8-step process, but I would never ever pick up this book to read it again. Ever.
Whe you read 8togreat you will it love it and apply it. Mk Mueller is a genius. Thank you for giving the world a practical book that can be applied in real life. I am grateful for the opportunity to read 8togreat. I am grateful for this day. I am grateful for applying 8togreat in my daily life.
I picked this one from Barnes & Nobles as it was on sale. Never got a time to read and then COVID gave me time to read books on my shelf and started this one. Loved it. Learned a lot from this.
