I suspected light work was toxic but this confirmed the fascism of it. I think that’s the perfect word for it. My impression in the first part of the book was that it would be very useful even though I didn’t agree with the author’s philosophy completely. Her anecdotes are very good, I have had similar experiences myself with the spirit world. I thought it was interesting. But for every good anecdote or interesting concept there are probably three or more terrible takes that are common in pop spirituality milieu, including but not limited to: law of attraction, predetermined life path (ie you chose to be disabled or to suffer trauma before you were ever born), and western misinterpretation of brahmanic reincarnation. But it gets worse. It gets a lot worse. I was worried about the use of the word “purge” in the context of what I assume to be the new age of Aquarius or pleidian revolution (a concept that I am not fond of, especially since culturally it has no awareness of social struggle and the active fight for liberation). Maybe there is a justification. But it is not articulated properly, and the lack of proper articulation does not endear me to a word that in everyday language only ever conveys vomiting or g*nocide. But that wasn’t where it lost me. I was ready to understand the astral realms as hierarchical, I study a lot of religions with hierarchies even if I would prefer to go without it, but the contempt and judgement placed on so-called lower vibrational beings did it for me. She referred to shadow people as if they were a depressing doomed monolith and as someone who has lived among shadow people for a long time I thought this was incredibly rude and ignorant. This is a misunderstanding that is widespread, that they are scary evil beings but that makes just about as much sense as saying that cats are rude and snakes are evil. Shadow people live among us and they mostly just want to be left alone, like anyone else does. To call them low-vibrational (no matter what plane of existence they live on, but I am starting to doubt that the author really knows all she says about this) is judgemental. As someone who has once had a spirit guide in the form of a fairy, a form historically taken by tricksters and morally neutral beings, i would think that she would understand nuance when it comes to spirits and how they appear. And that dark is evil, that negative is to be avoided, that lower planes are lesser, this is so ignorant in my opinion. And it outlines the fascism that is in love and light culture, and in lighworker mindset. My acquaintances on the spirit realm or astral plane are mostly dragons. They can be kind or they can be cruel. They are dark in color and they are of the night. But they have (especially my spirit guide) helped me embrace love, light, and rose quartz energy just as any angels could. The second thing that lead me to calling this lightworker fascism is its outright dismissal of psychedelic use in astral travel. Many cultures have done this. Many non-western cultures specifically. Though someone who is tripping might not be ready to undergo a spiritual journey, many people learn amazing things through trips and even if it wasn’t a historical religious practice in some parts of the world that should be respected, it is proven to help people suffering from a whole range of mental illnesses confront death and heal. This insanely curt denunciation of drug use for spiritual purpose, along with the Christian undertones, the shallow understanding of the shadow self, and the dismissal of beings based on their so-called alignment is a window into the fascism of light work. And I am not a dark magic person. But I am a person who recognizes the nuance of the spiritual plane or planes. It is unbelievable that someone who claims to have been given knowledge from higher beings basically her entire life can only provide anecdotes lifted directly from the worst parts of new age pop spirituality and a model of the universe that fails to recognize nuance or the value of beings that some might consider “dark”.
I was wanting to potentially get into Astral travel, I've astralled hmm around 4 times but after reading this book, which I loved because it gave such a clear expectation of what to expect and how to utilze the Astral realm, I'm not sure I want to, I guess do all the work.
If you've ever read anything by Sylivia Brown this is exactly that, only hers mixed in meditations to visit those places.
Great if you're looking for information on how to navigate the Astral realms not a beginner how to book.
Thanks a lot! This book have answered so many of my questions 👌 The 7 realms above & below. The importance/ benefit of a healthy strong body. The portals. My vibration and how it affects the distance & who can I see & communicate with. Very informative.
