Since moving to Haven to help out her closest friends, Melanie Ramsey has begun to reclaim her strength after a difficult divorce. Through Mel's Motivational Blog, she's inspiring other women too. Then a wild one-night fling with Haven's gorgeous deputy leaves her shaken, stirred...and pregnant. But Melanie's not giving up her newfound independence for another powerful man--not even one as upstanding and intriguing as Tanner Roark. What matters most to Tanner is defending the weak, seeking justice, and protecting his heart after tragic loss. Random hookups have been working out just fine until he and Melanie collide. Despite her domineering ex's best efforts to rattle her, she's still kind and resilient--not to mention witty, straight-talking, and sexy as hell. Chemistry is easy; trust, not so much. But when you find the one who sends your heart soaring, what can you do except buckle up and hold on tight?

We Return to Haven for the second book in the series. Be With Me gives us Tanner and Melanie’s story, both of them not looking for love or commitment due to factors from their pasts, thrust together by one of my favourite tropes… unplanned pregnancy.
"Don’t push me away… You don’t have to do this alone."
Easily likeable characters, you get the inside track on why the both of them are resistant to relationships now. If you have read the first book of the series, you know Mel’s ex-husband is of the douche variety but Tanner plays all of his cards a bit closer to his chest, as you would expect, more is revealed as their relationship develops (along with the pregnancy).
"I’m not settling down again until I find someone I want to be with forever…"
I seem to be having a run of reads that I like but don’t love at the moment and this one firmly falls into that category, in fact I would go as far as to say it fell into the dislike category for the last 30% of the story. Main reasons being, and one of my huge bug-bears; an intelligent woman acting stupid, and repetitively so in Mel’s case. I won’t give spoilers, but you can kind of see it coming a mile off but it didn’t lessen my annoyance at her doing it. I also found her constant comparing Tanner to her ex and knee jerk judgements of some of his actions went on for too long as well.
"I just wish she didn’t lump me in with that asshole she was married too."
My other issue, is the fact the book itself felt very superficial and lacking depth in its telling. The sex scenes between them would have been better off closed door for all the effort it felt like the author had put into them, and the time they actually spend together on page is massively lacking in being for anything meaningful as well.
Several pivotal points in their relationship (he takes her flying, and their first visit to the Doctors) are both end chaptered before they even take place, as well as Tanners past being pretty much discussed and moved on from in the space of a paragraph or two, which didn't leave the right impression either, and I think largely because of the lack of those important aspects of the relationship being given adequate page time, that when the declarations of love came I just didn’t buy them.
I’m genuinely not sure if I’ll continue with this series now…. That said we have a frenemies-to-lovers coming up next, so I may be persuaded nearer the time.
"I’m a little cautious when it comes to trust…"

Contemporary romance. Surprise baby storyline. 2nd in the Return to Haven series but can be read as a standalone.
Mel is recovering from emotional domestic abuse. Because of her past, she holds herself back from trusting Tanner. Tanner is strong in his convictions and a protector. Significant to the storyline, he works with a team helping women and children escape from abuse situations. As they get to know each other, the histories of both intrude. They must overcome their current obstacles and well as the past. Family and friendship play key roles.
A heartwarming, feel-good romance.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.
Excerpt: “His hands covered her stomach as he placed another kiss on her. “I know this wasn’t planned, but I’m not even going to pretend I’m sorry. I can’t wait to meet our baby.” Melanie’s heart tumbled. They were most definitely not in the right place to have a child together. They knew little about each other, but she wasn’t sorry, either. If she was honest with herself, she’d much rather have Tanner as the father of her child than any other man she’d ever known. Each day she felt she uncovered another layer of what made up this remarkable man.” Excerpt from Be With Me by Jules Bennett
Good book. Melanie came to Haven with her two best friends, Olivia and Jade. She has been putting her life back together after escaping from an abusive marriage. She now has a successful motivational blog where she helps other women and is settling comfortably in Haven. Determined to avoid putting herself in that position ever again, Melanie has pretty much cut men out of her life.
Tanner is a police officer in Haven and very protective of the town and its people. Besides his work as a cop, he is also part of a group that helps rescue abused women. He likes women but avoids relationships having lost his fiancée and baby years earlier.
I loved the development of the relationship between Tanner and Melanie. It didn't start well, as Tanner gave Melanie a speeding ticket when she first came to town (Stay With Me), something she still hasn't forgiven him for. In the seven months since then, they have seen each other often and continue to bicker and argue. One night, while out with their friends, all those sparks take a different direction and they have a steamy, intense encounter. Six weeks later, Melanie discovers that she's pregnant. She knows she needs to tell him, but she's been so shaken by the feelings he stirred up that she has been avoiding him. Meanwhile, Tanner hasn't been able to forget that night either, something that has never happened to him before. To say that he is stunned by her news would be putting it mildly, but he immediately makes it clear that he will be involved in the baby's life.
I loved seeing Melanie and Tanner's determination to give their baby a good life. Tanner is quick to realize that he wants Melanie in his life permanently, but also smart enough to see that it's going to take some convincing. I loved his sensitivity to her past, knowing that it's going to take some time and effort to get her to trust him. Tanner also has to fight his own fears for her and the baby's safety. It was sweet to see all the little things that Tanner did to show Melanie that he was nothing like her ex. I especially loved the scene where he went to the doctor's appointment with her. Melanie was a harder nut to crack. She was certainly attracted to him, but trusting him is another matter entirely, especially with her ex making a nuisance of himself. I wanted to shake her a few times for not telling Tanner about Neville's actions. In spite of the progress she has made in regaining her strength of will, she did a couple of pretty stupid things at the end. I really liked Tanner's reaction and the steps he took to protect her. I liked their big moment at the end - it was fun, sweet, and romantic.
This is the second book in the Return to Haven series and I think it is best read as part of the series. I say this because the book starts out just as Melanie discovers the consequences of a one night stand with local deputy, Tanner. These characters met in the previous book so some of the back story is not really a part of this book. However, readers will quickly come up to speed as Melanie and Tanner try to come to grips with life's events.
I really enjoyed this small town contemporary romance. Jules Bennett managed to deal with several difficult subjects that far too many people have to deal with, namely, physical and mental abuse. However, while these are serious and heavy issues, the story didn't dwell on the events. Instead, it dealt with how the characters were rebuilding their lives and coping with the past. Another terrific read from Jules Bennett and I'm looking forward to how she brings together Cash and Jade in the next story.
Received an ARC courtesy of NETGALLEY from the publisher….
This book takes us back to Haven Georgia where two friends have moved back to a town they once lived and a third friend, Melanie, who’s is heroine of this story comes along for moral support, along with Jade, for their friend Livie after her father passes away, leaving Livie his house and a share in a small airport.
This story line in this second book in the series and revolves around Melanie and her one night stand with Tanner, who is with the local law enforcement, who just happens to be cousins with Livie’s fiancé Jax and their other cousin Cash, and on her way into town he has stopped her for speeding. That did not make for a good impression for either of them, but one night at the local bar, Melanie lets loose and her attraction for Tanner and him for her leads them to a passionate night and the consequences of that night leads to an unplanned pregnancy. Because they both have been in relationships that have left them with some scares inside and out, a relationship is not in the books. But Tanner is persistent that Mel will be living with him, but he knows he has to go slow with Mel and ease her into a lifetime of love and commitment with him and the new life that they created. With the help of their mutual friends and preciouses little girl, can these two expectant parents find their way to a HEA that they both deserve….
I enjoyed this second book in the series very much. I loved that Jules Bennett gives her characters real life issues and friends and family are always there to support them. Tanner and Mel grabbed my heart and never let it go from the first page and I was rooting for them to find their love for each other and it would conquer all the obstacles of their bath to find their love and happiness forever. As always Jules Bennett never disappoints me when I open one of her books and start reading.. I can’t wait for the next two friends and lovers to have their story.
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) This book was a little depressing. Melanie had went thru hell when she was married to a politician, and she was able to get out of that relationship and start over but with emotional scars. Here we are 2 years later and he is still contacting her and he wants her back to further his career. On a night out with friends she succumbs to the chemistry she had with Tanner and gives in having a hot one night and now she is pregnant. Tanner only has one nighters but there is something about Melanie that keeps him intrigued and interested. They both claim they do not want relationships due to their heartbraking pasts but now that they have the baby they are going to try to be friends for her, he still not sure if he wants more he is afraid of giving his heart. Tanner is a really good man, and sweet and so loving. As they get to know each other they fall in love and then the ex causes more trouble, now what? I am assuming that this is the second book, with some of the things that I have read and I think we are also getting Jade and Cash;s book which I do hope we do. All in all it did keep me intrigued.
Even this is second book in the series I didn't felt weird reading it simply because it can be read as a standalone too. It is a nice contemporary romance that is sprinkled with a surprise baby... Tanner and Melanie’s story kept me interested and I found myself taking sides and digging for the characters. I am not going into revealing more of the story to avoid spoilers for the other readers. All I can add is that I enjoyed reading it and I will go and read the first one in this instalment and for sure it wont be my last book by this author.
Melanie Ramsey is doing everything she can to move on after her divorce. Moving to Haven with her two best friends is the best thing she could have done, except instead of keeping her guard up, she finds herself letting loose and having a one-night stand with Tanner Roark that results in her discovering she’s pregnant soon after. Will Melanie give Tanner a chance or is she too afraid of being hurt to ever give happy ever after another go? Read More
This is an easy-going, undemanding read with nice characters and a tricky situation all wrapped up in cosy friendship and family. There’s nothing terribly wrong with it, but at the same time, I can’t find anything I loved about it either. It’s pleasant and enjoyable, but not exactly memorable.
Which is a shame, because there’s a lot to like here. Melanie and her motivational blog is a great idea, but apart from her understandable trust issues and her problems with her ex, it doesn’t really figure much. I did like how she handles the pregnancy issue and doesn’t try to hide it from Tanner, but again, the pregnancy itself doesn’t bring much to the book.
Like Melanie, Tanner is a nice person, but his difficult and time-consuming job again doesn’t really figure much. He spends a lot of time going places with Mel or helping his cousin and not so much working. His own issues take much, much longer to come out and I felt really annoyed that no names are used. I know he’s tried to forget, but surely the woman deserves a name.
Their romance at times was a little lacklustre too, but I did like them together. What I didn’t like were some of Mel’s choices towards the end or the way everything was handled with her awful ex. I also could have done without the repetitive reminders of the spa in town that was renovated by three brothers in memory of their sister. I have actually read a couple of the Monroe books, but this is not the Monroe series, we don’t need the full rundown on everyone else right now, and we certainly don’t need it over and over again.
So overall this was okay. I liked it well enough while I was reading, but there wasn’t anything in it to make it stick in my memory or particularly make me want to read the next one.
My Review: Overall, I really LOVED this book. Before the book starts, Tanner and Mel had a one-night stand. The book starts when the repercussions of that night make themselves known...that's right, a positive line on a tiny, little stick. The thing is Tanner is a confirmed bachelor and Mel is coming off a horrific divorce. She has NO DESIRE for anything lasting...like a baby, but surprises happen.
Tanner is such a good guy (despite his reputation) and as his backstory comes out, it's heartbreaking. But he proves over and over that he's simply one of the good guys. He's there for Mel in every single way. He's supportive and realizes that she's been through a lot, so is willing to give her the space that she needs. He just hopes in the end that she chooses him.
I really liked it. I liked the relationships between the six friends (and am seriously intrigued by Cash and Jade...they're going to have a great story). I like the premise of the airport. I need to go back and read book #1 to fully understand how all that came to be, but the glimpses I saw of that story in this of that book definitely intrigued me. (But don't worry, even though this is book #2, you can easily read it and not miss the first. I never had a moment of confusion.)
But I truly think my favorite thing about the book were the tiny tidbits at the beginning of each chapter from Mel's inspirational blog. I love that she turned her life around by focusing on positivity and inspiring others. THAT'S inspirational. I loved it.
Note: this book would have been a 5-star read for me, but in the end there was a moment that the heroine had a serious too-stupid-to-live moment. I get the need for a climatic, black moment, but I think it could have been done in a better way so that Mel didn't look like an inane imbecile when she made a single, really rotten decision that made zero sense with her history. She's so strong and smart throughout the entire book...I just wanted her to stay that way. But overall, the rest of the book did make up for that bad moment.
I liked the book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest and voluntary review.
I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
The Delight A one night stand ends up connecting two people who aren't sure they even like each other. More serious that I expected and deeper on many levels. This is a story that can heal two hearts and make a future look bright.
Review Why do I jump into series in the middle or at least not the first book? This time is was a little easier since it was the second book, but still I felt a little off not knowing what happened in the first story. I put that aside and focused on the two characters that would have their lives forever entwined.
Melanie Ramsey came to Haven to find a haven and help out her closest friends. She just didn't expect to get a speeding ticket right away. Escaping an emotionally abusive husband, Melanie is rebuilding her life, her confidence and trying to learn to trust again. Relationships aren't in the plans, but a one night stand with the one person who gave her a speeding ticket, shakes up her newly built foundation.
Tanner takes his job seriously to protect the weak and seek justice, but he is guarding his heart from a past that is affecting his future. With one hook up with Melanie, he is now forever entangled in a relationship he didn't want. But a baby is on the way and these two have to learn to get along and build a relationship to support them as well as their child.
The two have warring emotions. Melanie needs the independence her life has given her after the divorce. But the ex is haunting her still. Tanner needs to protect and keep them safe. The two missions of life collide and the two have to work together. Tanner knows he wants Melanie and the baby in his life, but also that he is going to have to give her some space his warring mind wants to take away. The past can't be redone, but he intends to make the future a different story.
This wasn't an easy story, nor was it a grand story. These are two broken people who not have a second chance at a life they both can imagine. It's not pretty, or tied up in a bow. It's real life and some times you just have to hit that head on.
Tanner likes to give his woman a forewarning, “considering I never bring a woman home, she’ll definitely tackle-hug you.” I liked this book, Tanner was the sweetest man ever.
Strong characters, deep connections and a boat load of good times! With an ever-popular visit back to Haven, Georgia, we get to reconnect with the small airport project that we fell in love with during Jax and Livie’s story in Book 1 and we also get to see a bit of the brother’s we adored in the original Monroes series. Melanie and Tanner have a strong connection, but each have their own past that keeps them weighted down with fear. The baby on the way makes them have to move out of their comfort zone and actually try to reconnect with parts of them that they have hidden away for years now … and the magic of watching them come back to life is super special! Great characters, a very relatable plot and lots of happily ever after feels!
Melanie Ramsey moved to Haven to be close to her friends and simply because it came at a time when she was ready to take charge of her life and a new town was paramount. She never expected to find herself unexpectedly pregnant at this point, and even though it scares her, she can’t regret it for a single minute. Tanner is a complication she’s not sure how to handle right now, but she’s well on her way to making the life she’s always dreamed of, and she won’t be backing down lightly.
Deputy Tanner Roark has a past that led him to live only for the moment and not plan on having that perfect happily ever after that everyone dreams about. He’s just fine being a friend, a son, and a temporary lover … until Melanie comes into his life. He was more moved by their one night together than he ever expected and the fact that she’s been ignoring him since is getting on his nerves … but when she comes bearing the news that they’ve having a baby, he sets out to convince her that they can have a life together … even if it sends him into a panic!
Melanie and Tanner are usually at each other’s throats, they bicker and argue and all that passion led them straight into bed. Fast-forward 2 months and a stick with blue lines, damn. Melanie has no idea what she is going to do, first step would be telling Tanner, if she was not actively avoiding him at the moment. This is going to be interesting.
Tanner is not a relationship guy, he loves women without a doubt but he was never one to get attached. Not until Melanie that is. Her fire, spunk and drive caught his eye from day one and the passion they had debating different subjects, definitely carried over to the bedroom. Now months after their one night together, he can’t get her out of his mind.
Melanie has no idea how to trust Tanner, especially with her psycho ex still bugging her every move. She has given up the ghost of ever being free of him. Tanner doesn’t seem like the type to be ready for the commitment a baby would bring to his life.
Tanner has been down this road before, no one knows that unfortunately. He will do whatever it takes to protect Melanie and their baby. He won’t lose them, he couldn’t survive if he did.
Melanie and Tanner each bring their own brand of obsessions to the relationship table. Melanie learning to trust someone else to have her back, not stab her in it. And Tanner is learning to live again after suffering such a great loss. Their love story grows, as their baby grows.
Be With Me returns to Haven in the very best way, showcasing all the wonderful friendships we’ve developed right along with the characters. I received an advance copy of this 4 ½ star read without expectation for review. Any and all opinions expressed are my own.

Jules Bennett continues her Return to Haven series with this second book. All readers who loved the first book will greatly enjoy this one as well. Ms. Bennett writes her characters with such heart and compassion. Melanie Ramsey never thought her life would end up where it is. She left an abusive relationship with a high powered man and moved to a small town with her best friends. Now she finds herself pregnant after a one-night stand and doesn’t know what to do about the baby daddy. Sure she finds him attractive and hopes that he will be in their baby’s life, but she doesn’t really know him. Trust is hard for her and the specter of her ex-husband still lingers. Tanner Roark never expected to find himself thinking about a woman after a one-night stand, but he just can’t get Melanie out of his mind. He knows that something bad happened in her past and that trust doesn’t come easily for her. He doesn’t expect her to tell him that she is pregnant. Tanner lost a fiancée and baby years ago and the loss still haunts him. He has to figure out a way to handle his fears while reassuring Melanie that he wants her in his life. Tanner and Melanie both bring a lot of baggage to this new relationship. Being forced to work together to handle a pregnancy before they had time to really get to know one another makes things challenging. The fact that they both have secrets in their past that are painful and that neither of them is ready to talk about makes things even more awkward. Ms. Bennett does a great job of showing their flaws and how much they want to move on and make things better. I loved watching this relationship bloom. It is also nice to catch up with all the characters from the previous book. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment.
Another MUST-READ book by the wonderful Jules Bennett! A slight twist on a HEA, Be With Me is the second book in the wonderful small-town romance series Return to Haven. It follows book 1, Stay With Me, and incorporates Jules' Monroe series into it as well (which was another fabulous series and one I would HIGHLY recommend!).
Melanie Ramsey is pregnant from a hot, lusty one night stand. She is still adjusting to her new life after a marriage from hell with Neville, an abusive politician, and trying to figure out what she wants from life, while writing her successful blog. This revelation has put a huge kink in her plans...especially considering the father is none other than Officer Tanner Roark, a somewhat secretive man with some heavy clouds from his past, and someone who ticketed Melanie when she first arrived in town, which still doesn't sit well with her.
I loved the blog quotes at the beginning of every chapter! One of my very favorites is "I love when the coffee kicks in and I realize what an adorable badass I'm going to be today." LOL. The quotes were a great way to head the chapters and get a feel for Mel.
This love story has all the feels! It made me smile, it made me laugh, and it broke my heart and made me cry! It is written in 2 person POV and it is so well done! There is some hot sex, love, and heartbreak, and the author dives into abusive relationships, drug abuse, and loss. The supporting characters in this series (Cash, Jade, Livie, Jax, and Piper, are such a fun group and I am loving this series so hard and cannot wait for book 3 to come out!!!
This is the first book I read by this author, and it certainly will not be the last one. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The plot was engaging and centered around Melanie Ramsey and Tanner Roark. Melanie moved to Haven not only to help her friends but also to start anew , after she divorced her abusive husband. Tanner is a police officer who is all about protecting the innocent . When they meet, the attraction is instant though at first it was masked as a total dislike. When they give in to a moment of passion, little did they know that their lives would change forever. Both have had losses and been hurt deeply and are still recovering. But Tanner is determined to do what he can to create a family while Melanie does not want to depend on anyone. Yes, it’s a story about heartbreaks, and lost dreams, but it is more than that. It’s a story about true friendships, family, overcoming obstacles, trust not only in others but also in oneself, and of finding someone who loves you for whom you are . Kudos also to the author for bringing up the subject of domestic abuse, which sadly, is very real. My only regret is that I have not read book one in the series. That said , I can’t wait to see what else the author has in store for us in book 3. I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This is the second time we get to return to Haven, Georgia with Jules Bennett. This book tells the story of Melanie and Tanner. He’s the cop who pulled her over as she arrived in town and she’s the blogger who came to support her friend. Life has given them more than they were expecting. I really enjoyed this second Haven book. I love how the supporting cast of friends is so intertwined in the books. They are there for all the action, rather than just being an add on. I also loved the characters of Melanie and Tanner. She is a woman who has suffered the worst and has come out of it determined to inspire women. While he is the silent cop who has been through more than most and yet works unfailingly to rescue others. I thought they were different enough to bring that opposites attract angle while still having enough similar experiences to bond them. I also liked how Melanie understood Tanner’s actions as a result of his past and didn’t hold them against him. The inspirational quotes at the start of each chapter were a great addition. I also appreciated that the book didn’t rely on miscommunication, but rather simply told of people having to work through their issues to be able to come together. Great work Jules Bennett, and I can’t wait for the story of Cash and Jade! Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
** I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!**
I am late writing this review as I read the book about two months ago. I therefore apologize if my review is high level and I do not go in to detail about the finer points of the plotline.
I have to admit that I am not a big fan of storylines where the pregnancy comes first and then the romance. I am fine if there is already a child in the picture but for some reason I always find the pregnancy version a little awkward. I gave this book a chance in my quest to constantly be expanding away from my comfort zone. I am glad I did for the most part.
Both Melanie and Tanner were easy to like. Melanie, a former victim who was pursuing a new healthy life after getting away, and Tanner who is the stereotypical alpha male with the kind of looks and heart every woman swoons over. Their chemistry was obvious..ahem... she is pregnant with his baby after all.
As everyone knows how this one will end, I will avoid any spoilers for you all. At the end of the day this was a nice and quick read. It didn't blow my mind however it was entertaining for someone who went in knowing this isn't her cup of tea.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review. This is the second book in the Return to Haven series that centers on Melanie and Tanner. Melanie was in an abusive marriage with a wealthy and powerful man. She walked away from the marriage two years ago and is now a successful blogger. Tanner is a local Haven police officer, who also helps abused women escape their abusers. Melanie and Tanner don’t want to start a relationship, but end up hooking up one night. Of course, this one night stand ends up in a pregnancy. Working together to make a good life for their future child forces Melanie and Tanner face their past traumas and eventually realize that they love each other. What I liked about this book, the accidental pregnancy trope, Tanner as the sensitive Alpha and the pace of the relationship. I had problems with two areas, Melanie’s evil ex and Melanie’s wimpy reaction to so many things. I felt that the ex was a very two dimensional villain. Melanie was supposed to be this strong survivor of abuse and a very smart person, but she did some really dumb things. I just wish she had been stronger and solved her own issues.
Be with Me is the second book in Jules Bennett’s Return to Haven series. I have to be honest I couldn’t put this book down! Melanie Ramsey was trying to rebuild her life and mainly her confidence when she decided to spend one-night with Tanner Roark. She’d been through a rough marriage and childhood and was finally getting her life together through her motivational blog. Tanner had his own past one that he couldn’t put aside.
When their one-night turns into something more, Melanie and Tanner discover they can take that chance and slowly come to grips with their pasts. Although, Melanie’s past is much harder to walk away from, Tanner is by her side offering support and encouragement.
I absolutely loved Be with Me. I missed the first book in this series and will definitely go back and read it. It was also fun catching up with some of the characters from Ms. Bennett’s The Monroe’s series. I highly recommend reading this book. I received an advance copy and this is my honest review.
This is the second book in the “Return to Haven” series which is a spinoff of the “The Monroe’s”. I have read and reviewed all these books so this book is a feeling “like Coming Home”. I love the little town of Haven, Ga.This spinoff revolves around a small airport reconstruction with 3 male cousins and 3 best friends (female)! This story revolves around Tanner, a policeman and one of the cousins, all of whom served in the Air Force and learned to fly, and Melanie, a lawyer, recent divorcee of the Mayor of Atlanta, and who was a “one night stand of Tanner’s”. However, as any good romance reader knows, one night stands tend to get complicated and this one results in a pregnancy. I enjoyed watching the journey of these two try to reconcile a one night stand becoming a relationship and all that entailed. I do love small town romances, and this one hit all my buttons. Fun characters with issues, but believable issues that were resolved in a timely matter with just a taste of angst! So much fun!
Back to Haven Georgia with Be with Me by Jules Bennett. This is book 2 of the series. Melanie Ramsey gives support to her two best friends even though she is not originally from Haven. For her it is a new start in life. She is rebuilding her self-esteem as well as her life after a disastrous marriage and difficult divorce. An unplanned pregnancy follows a one night stand. While I liked the characters, this is one of my least favorite tropes.
It seemed to me that Melanie and Tanner were not in the place of their lives to be ready for this event. Both had major baggage that still needed to be dealt with before a child would enter the picture. However, since it did, they managed to work through much of it. Because it is believable that it all worked out is a credit to the author’s wonderful sense of developing the story-line. If only it could work that well in real life.
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was lucky enough to receive this ARC copy in exchange for my honest review which I’m happy to share ! I cannot express enough how much I’ve enjoyed the return to Haven /Monroe series! I have to say that BE WITH ME is yet again an instant page turner that’s become my all time new favorite in this series ! This amazing , funny , sexy & witty story is about Melanie & Tanner having to explore an immediate huge change in their relationship , one of which is my most favorite troupe! I could hardly put this book aside because of the characters challenges they faced along with the fact that Jules always manages to give us such real, every day type ongoing scenarios that make these fictional people worm their way into your thoughts & hearts ! I really wouldn’t mind a quick trip to Haven myself just for some baked goods from Liam to enjoy with ALL my future Jules books! A must have for all to enjoy! 👍🏻😘😘📚Cannot wait for Jade &Cash’s story !
I love this series & this book is simply a great addition to the series. Jules Bennett is becoming one of my favourite authors with her two Haven series. The heartbreak that both Melanie & Tanner have each gone through is painful & neither is looking for anything permanent but a little surprise brings each of them out of their past & towards a future. The angst of Melanie’s ex-husband still harassing her & the loss that Tanner went through keep us on the edge of our seats while wondering when these two will wake up & see what’s right in front of them. Tanner’s the first to succumb to the reality of what is happening & he’ll work as hard as possible to make Melanie see what he does....the future....them. It was great to see all the friends again & I truly love the character of little Piper, she’s a sweetheart. I also loved the surprise that Jax & Olivia pulled off. Definitely recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed this book from the publisher through Net Galley.
This is the second book in this series and I missed the first one but I will be going back to read it for sure after liking this one so much. I really like Melanie and Tanner and the supporting characters from the series as well. I also love the small town romance trope and Haven is perfectly small. Despite their difficult pasts, Tanner & Melanie give into their attraction and hook-up one night. They have serious chemistry. They've both had it rough and a relationship was not what they were looking for. After something more permanent comes out of what was supposed to be just one night, things do get a bit complicated. I love the way this couple supports each other and helps each other in the present for their future by dealing with their pasts. That's a relationship!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
Tanner and Melanie kind of butt heads when they meet. Tanner gives Melanie a speeding ticket on her way into town. Both Tanner and Melanie have reasons not to trust in love. Melanie has a abusive ex-husband who still won't leave her alone. Tanner has a person tragedy in his past that's affecting his future. When these two let their attraction for each other go one night it ends up with being connected for life whether they like it or not. Watching these two figure out how they can make a relationship work as sometimes fun before it had to get serious. Melanie needs to be independent and in control of her life and Tanner needs to take care of her and so that's makes it tough. Loved the happy ending for this story. Can't wait to see what happens next in this series.
Return to Haven with book two, Be With Me. This is Melanie and Tanner’s story. Tanner is a policeman in the small town of Haven, GA, about an hour outside of Atlanta. Melanie and her two best friends, Livie and Jade, have moved to Haven to renovate the airport that Livie inherited from her father. It was supposed to be a quick trip to update the house and then sell it and the airport. Instead, it turned into a business venture between the three girls and three cousins and best friends, Tanner, Jax, and Cash.
The attraction between Melanie and Tanner was instant, although neither really realized it. It kept building until they had a one-night stand. Now, they’re bound for life. Each of them came with a lot of baggage. They have to find a way to overcome all of that baggage.
This is a feel-good, entertaining, story. The story is good and the characters are wonderful.
Be with Me is the second in the Return to Haven series but can also be read as a stand alone. This is a story of moving on, gaining control, and learning to love and trust again after escaping an abusive relationship. Melanie is working on her self-esteem and becoming an independent woman until a one-night stand has surprising consequences. Tanner is a workaholic with a secret second job and isn't looking for a relationship, that is until he learns that Melanie is pregnant. Now he must face his fears of history repeating itself and also convincing Melanie that he is nothing like her ex. This story and its characters will have the reader just saying WOW. This is a great story with fantastic characters.
I received this arc from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.
