I very much enjoyed this, too. Shariati's approach resonates to this day, in terms of libertarian-socialist political radicalism and advocacy of sacrifice/martyrdom (as was arguably taken up by the Iranian student movement to overthrow the Shah following Shariati's mysterious death in exile in London). A very thought-provoking volume, though it would have been good to have seen more discussion on Shariati on gender and the woman question.
