Louis “Shorty” Gerhard and his gang of notorious outlaws have been terrorizing the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad for months. The president of the railroad hires Cully and a group of dangerous hired guns to escort a large shipment of cash to the mining camps in Aspen. This bungled job sets the stage for the single most shameful failure of Cully’s career. Cully vows to settle the score. He hires some hand-picked mercenaries to take on Shorty and his gang. With passengers' lives at stake and a tarnished image to restore, Cully will stop at nothing to bring Shorty Gerhard to justice. Each book in the Cully the Bounty Hunter series is a standalone story that can be read out of order.

Mr. Slade definitely went above and beyond with this unbelievable rendition of our old American western folklore as Cully, once again displaced the bad guys. This outstanding masterpiece leaves nothing for the imagination, as Cully and crew extinguished the problems with overpowering results. Never a dull moment throughout the entire story.
Not a problem awarding five stars to this very descriptive story of western justice. I have read most, if not all of Cully's many exciting adventures, finding all of them to be very readable and entertaining. Too, there are usually heartwarming adventures throughout these outstanding stories, as well many different twists of western accomplishments. Mr. Slade definitely is impressive in his outstanding selection of characters, and his storylines successfully satisfy the compelling interest of his dedicated readers. He definitely goes above and beyond with his apparent research before beginning his very first paragraph. The ongoing camaraderie between his good guys never ceases to amaze me, from beginning to end. I have no problem recommending this story, or the entire series, to readers of any venue they normally read, as these descriptive stories pacifys the most demanding reader's expectations. Definitely your loss of you do not pursue the exceptionally well written adventures of western folklore!
Louis "Shorty" Gerhard is 6'5" tall. His favorite past time is robbing trains. I also seems to be his skill set. It helps that he seems to know when the big cash shipments are made. When a huge payroll is being shipped to the miners, the president of the railroad contracts with Cully to ride along, along with some other hired gunmen. Cully had a previous encounter with Shorty and almost killed him. Best laid plans and all that. This one certainly does go astray and it certainly did this time. Gerhard had some of his own men on board and they were able to take control before Cully and his group could respond. This is personal now. Cully tears up his contract with the railroad and goes after the bad guys. Another exciting adventure.
Cully the Bounty Hunter series by Orris Slade always delivers a good traditional western adventure with solid action and interesting characters. Cully: Retribution (the fifth book) showcased a darker Cully who does not hesitate to kill his enemies instead of simply arresting them. This change in attitude is explained in the story, and it does not seem that out-of-character, but more of a natural reaction to Cully's way of life. A very good storyteller, Orris Slade has kept me entertained throughout the series and I will gladly read more Cully's adventures.
These books are not romance books but still good reading. I have read all of the Cully books and enjoyed reading them. They are well a bit different but I think you would like them also. Looking forward to reading the next one when it comes out.
Shorty had a way of making Cully mean. This story was a bit longer than what I've seen from Mr. Slade. This is book five and its apparent that the author is becoming more at ease with the pen. I like a change of pace from my science fiction books and will continue to follow Cully throughout his western endeavors.I am hoping that he finds Maria soon.
Great reading. I have read about all of Cuhlley. Orris needs to write a longer book. He centers on one bad guy . Finish off one and go after another this will give a longer reading book. Good reading not a !ot of reaping a fact. Keep them coming .
Cully's good upbringing molded his good character for his adult hood. You don't have to be a preacher's family to learn this. This is a story that should be read in elementary school.
The book was written about how we had lived.Great old Heros wuth good motives and ethical values.Great job, thanks! I'm not sure what I can find to equip this!
