The Mountain Man's Secret Valentine

Rate this book
Look, there's a reason why I live by myself in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. My time in the military left my mind and body scarred. Finding out my ex-fiancée screwed me over me while I was overseas just rubbed salt in the wound.I'm not fit to be around other people, so I keep myself to myself and live off the grid. Being alone suits me. I'm better off that way.Or at least that's what I think. Then she shows up on my doorstep. She claims the Valentine's Day flowers she's delivering are from a secret admirer, but f*ck that. Even if they are, I don't care. All I can see is her.Her sweet mouth and wicked tongue demand to be claimed. Her perfect body is begging to be touched and taken. When a freak blizzard strands her with me in the wilderness, it takes all my restraint to keep my hands to myself and remain a gentleman. Her every move tests me, tempts me, tortures me.There's no way an innocent, sheltered flower delivery girl can fall for a gruff, rugged, lonely mountain man like me.Or is there…---This is a stand-alone romance with no cheating and no cliffhangers. Contains a growly, possessive mountain man, plenty of steam, and a happy ending – guaranteed.

This started out really good as far as mountain man smut goes. I liked the characters, the writing was steamy with enough plot to keep it interesting..

Where it went downhill for me was everything with Mackenzie's dad. It was just over-the-top ridiculous how he treated her, and the fact that she would even consider dropping Gage to stay with that nonsense was just too much. No one likes being a florist that much. So the whole second half was pretty much a drag.

Turned off by the gross demeaning word the author used several times thinking it was sexy when describing a part of the female main character. The elderly person love story was way too convenient for plot advancement, and unbelievable. The main romance was too rushed.

This book was super cute with its OTT love and HEA. I give this 💘💘💘💘!

Being in the military took a huge toll on Gage. He lost friends in battle, his fiancé cheated on him, and he was left with a ton of emotional and physical scars. To try and start over, he’s been living in a secluded cabin on a mountain for the past 5 years. And he was totally fine with the isolation… until Mackenzie shows up at his door with roses.

Mackenzie lives in the tiny town at the base of the mountain. After her mom passed she took over in helping her dad with the family’s flower shop. But that also left her to live under her dads tyrant rule. No boys, no dating, no fun, nothing… even though she’s in her 20’s! As much as she wants her freedom, she feels like she owes it to her mom to stay and help her dad. Even if it makes her miserable.

A mixup in a flower delivery has her standing on Gage’s doorstep. Unfortunately for them both, a snow storm keeps her overnight… in his cabin with one bed. Their sexual tension comes to a head and they give into each other, not knowing what’s going to happen.

Can he open up and let himself be loved again? Can she find the courage to stand up to her dad and demand her freedom for love?

I’m not a huge fan of military books, but I liked Gage’s character! He’s been hurt so badly and feels like he doesn’t deserve to be loved. He thinks he’s too scarred emotionally and physically. But yet Mackenzie just bulldozes down those barriers. And for her, she just needs a push to stand up for herself and what she wants.

I like how they had this OTT chemistry and affection right off the bat. They both have their own issues to deal with, but feel comfortable enough sharing them with each other and leaning on one another for help.

This was a quick, steamy read perfect for Valentine’s Day! 3.5 stars. There isn’t much plot besides a controlling father for the FMC and the MMC is suffering from his time in the military.

Mackenzie works at her father’s florist shop. She is sent up the mountain with a flower delivery for Gage, the reclusive mountain man. They have an instant attraction but she runs from him after he startles her coming from the woods with his rifle in hand. Luckily she has another delivery for him the next day but who are these flowers from? A woman from his past that wants a second chance?

Mackenzie and Gage are forced together for a day when a blizzard makes her trip back to town impossible. There is some push/pull from Gage as he doesn’t believe he’s worthy of Mackenzie.

At the end, one thing that bothered me was that when Mackenzie stands up to her manipulative father…he HITS her and she never tells Gage? She goes back to Gage and basically just tells him she stood up to her father. That’s it. Like whaaat? I wanted Gage to see a mark, trigger his protective instincts, his alpha personality… and we got none of that. This was a prime opportunity for a “𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖” trope!!

Going in blind with this author and story..

I felt this book was meh to me.. i did end up skimming some chapters cuz it dragged on alittle i enjoyed both MC but Mackenzie kinda annoyed me more... she had no backbone to stand up to her asshole father.. with all his verbal abuse she gave up her happiness cuz her father loves to manipulate her and use her dead mother... :/  i felt bad for Gage.. even if he understood why she pushed him away.. but god.. it sucked.. i wish both faught harder for eachother.. :/

And when she finally did stand up to her father.. she forgives him (mentions) nope. Im sorry no.. that annoyed me..

Low agnst, no ow/om drama, no cheating, sexy times, drama, not a manwhore and been celebite for 5 years & not a virgin gal so score for that..

Instalove/lust
Push/pull from Mackenzie and Gage
Slight slight abuse and verbal abuse

Mountain man goodness

i took off a couple of stars because I didn’t like Mackenzie and the plot of the story was good but not great. Gage is hotter than hell also the big man is considerate and sweet with Mackenzie. Mackenzie on the other hand is annoying. She 25 years old and constantly complains about what her daddy won’t let her do. Really girl? She should get a spine and grow a pair and find another job if she has to. If for no other reason do it for the love of dirty hot sex. Sad sad Mackenzie. Shes’s so pathetic. She gets something out of being manipulated by her father. As long as she allows her father to control every aspect of her life she doesn’t have to be responsible for her choices. Oh no daddy made be do it doesn’t wash. Gage is to good for her. Until next time y’all happy reading.

3.5 stars!
This book started slow and I wasn't sure I was going to like it. It is the very sexy story of a young capable and creative woman trapped by her father and her promises in a small town and an emotionally wounded and scarred veteran that thought trapping himself in a mountain cabin was the solution to his trauma. They meet because of a wrong flower delivery and.. off they go! I enjoyed the writing, and although their love story happened rather quickly I found it quite believable. I also particularly enjoyed the HEA which

♡Not a bad read. It was sweet, sexy, and sad.
♡The characters were likeable.
▪︎I loved Gage. Brooding, protective and loving is what he's all about. ▪︎Mackenzie breaks my heart. She's been verbally abused by her father her whole life. She is sweet but somewhat timid. Glad she eventually comes out of her shell.

the mountain man

Another story with the insta lust. Really, I know it’s fiction but can we have a conversation or two bf the characters feel like ripping off their clothes, especially in the first chapter. And throughout the entire book. A little build up of the relationship between the two main characters would be great. Very little conversation and very little story. I enjoy a good sex scene or three in a story, but this book had way too many. And the ending was a disappointment as well. But if u like a story of sex scenes this is the story for you.

New author for me and while the plot is a familiar one I really liked this one. The writing was well developed and I liked both MCs just wish Mackenzie grew a backbone sooner and kicked her asshole dad to the curb. Thought the author did a nice job dealing with the Hero’s struggles reintegrating into civilian life and it sets up nicely for the follow up book which I will definitely be checking out!

So, good! Wow!

Gage is a tortured war hero turned mountain man. Mackenzie is a beautiful sweet thing. They are perfect for each other. I enjoyed the fact that they both seemed to need each other equally. The things they run into and find out about one another are what make you stay hooked and not want to put this story down. This book has twists, turns and plenty of epic spice.🌶🔥The HEA and epilogue are really sweet🍬 too!

Excellent Erotic Romance

Once in awhile, you find a story that is written so well it fills the mind with realistic pictures of a love so wonderful that you wish we all could have the experience that the main characters find. Together they fight the doubts and conquer the difficulties trying to keep them apart! I think we'd all be grateful to find that kind of love! Recommended highly!

The Hunk & the Beautiful Florist

H is all one could expect from the name "mountain man" huge, bearded, lonely & self-sufficient with a side of loneliness. He's a vet whose fiance moved on & has battle scars in multiple ways. The h is creative, caring & overshadowed by her dad who demeans her frequently. She delivers flowers to the H & is snowed in by a blizzard. They connect that night & want more of what could be together.

Gage is stunned by the delivery of roses

Mackenzie the florist has to deliver roses to a grizzly type mountain man. She's terrified of the big gruff guy with a rifle but when she's stranded things take a turn for a hot encounter. Gage decided to risk his heart but Mackenzie is being controlled and dominated by her father. Once Mackenzie decides that it's Gage she wants/needs she stands up to her father and they eventually work things out.

Good mountain man read

I enjoyed this book and was pleasantly surprised by the whole flower delivery scenario. Gage was your typical war vet turned mountain man and Mackenzie was a quiet woman that needed to learn to stand up for herself. Overall a good read. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

One helluva smutty sexy read. Though i personally thought the story was a bit stretch, there was a details on the MCs background story that helped us to understand their standing and their personality. Not really a fan of how the story rolled, HEA nonetheless with sprinkle of drama and crossover from the future installment.

Is sweet story about standing up for your love

The 2 characters seem nowhere alike in any manner. They seem like a wrong match. But they connect at a very deep level even though the father is supposed to it. The story however could use the better proof Reader for it. The problem I had was when Gage refers to being in his apartment when he should have said his cabin.

This was an awesome book. I stumbled on this author by accident. She writes hot stories that keep you reading. Gage is a mountain man. Mackenzie is the town florist in Silver Ridge. Special delivery for Gage. It's almost Valentine's Day and love is in the air. when Mackenzie is stranded in the mountain with Gage. Can she tell her lady bits to back off?

A perfect read on a winter afternoon

I love that I can blow through this at one sitting. Once you start you don’t want to put it down until the happy ending. The tried and true romance formula is there to be the framework. The individual touches have you rooting hard for Mackenzie and Gage. This is exactly the HEA fantasy that makes relationships in real life so frustrating!
