Someone bought this for me when my first daughter was born in 1986 and boy I loved it. There are some really hippy-ish stuff in there which I ignored but what I loved about this book, is it's written by a doctor. There's a fantastic section in the back that is well worth the price of this book. So, when your baby has spots on her stomach, you go to the back of the book and it'll say if the spots are here and here and if they look like this and if she's got a fever, then it's probably this and this is what the doctor will do and this is what you can do at home, and look out for this because it might mean that. So valuable! Sometimes all it took was a couple of at home remedies and she'd be fine in a couple of hours or the next morning. And other times it would send me straight to the doctor. I would turn to this book all the time when she was growing up and when my next daughter was born 11 years later, I was still using the old version but bought the revised which is about the same - which means excellent. Such a great book to have on hand when your baby is up at night and you don't know what's the matter but know it's not emergency room worthy. I would definitely recommend this book to all of you out there who have children, grandchildren, friends with children, etc.
This was such a great alternative to the books by Benjamin Spock. This book was much easier to read and in the days before the internet, had all kinds of good advice you had a hard time finding out about. Wish I'd kept my copy for my daughter.
