Do I save my siblings or keep all of the men I love? Hunter thought he lost his pack for good, but his brothers have reappeared. The pups are overjoyed at seeing their uncles again, and we’re all relieved to know some of his pack members survived. The only problem? His brothers hate humans. Which only adds to my confusion when I hear they have a shaman like me. The divide between Hunter and I only grows when I’m offered an opportunity I can’t refuse. It’s more money than I’ve ever seen in my life-- more than enough to support my siblings who still need me, and to start building a future with my lovers. On this rollercoaster, Connor and Raz are always at my side. Even Arjun is surprising me. The only questions is, can my heart accept that Hunter may have found happiness without me? Step right up, and witness the hardest choice I’ve ever had to make. Tightrope is the fifth volume of the Harem of Freaks series, which should be read in order. Contains violence, M/M, and M/F sexual content.
Tightrope is the fifth book within the Harem of Freaks series.
With all these people in one little harem, drama is bound to happen. The only thing that frustrated me was how stubborn certain people were. I get it when you are torn between two decisions but honestly if one make you happier than the other. Then it's not really that hard to pick. Even if no one is actually making you choose?!?! Just my thoughts.
Other than that, can they pretty please struggle with something? Get kidnapped? Solve world hunger? Cure some type of cancer? Hot damn - why is it so easy for them to save and escape?!? It shouldn't be.
Ok ok ok. We all saw that coming. But there’s still soooooo much between an HEA for the shaman, human and shifters. This book got you in the feels more so than the others. Can’t wait til the final book comes out!
Only one book left for Melody and her harem. It became clear in book one that the series would focus on Mel saving shifters and other circus ‘freaks’ who are being mistreated. In essence it’s a great idea but with one book left I don’t see how it’s feasible especially given what they’re up against. Seems they may need an army to win and in reality the fight will never end. There are a few hiccups on the harem as the book goes on. The crew is on the move again but this time one stays behind and the entire relationship hangs in the air. The cheesiness was still ever present and Mel continued to prove how young she is to the point I wanted her to grow the fuck up. I’m optimistic for the future and their HEA, can’t wait to see how they achieve it.
Still loving it. Most of the spicy scenes were done individually with each of the men, other than that last one, yum. But Arjun is still being stubbornly resistant. But we know Mel will break him down, probably in the next book. :)
This book was a lot more focused on the plot. You can tell we are getting close to the climax of the story as I understand it, the next book is the finale and book 7 is more like an extra epilogue, so I'm pretty excited for book 6.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Ash has created yet another incredible addition to this amazing paranormal reverse harem series. We pick up where the last one left off with Hunter's brothers showing up. This changes things a little for the group causing some stress. A new job on top of that adds some more. As if that is not enough Melody develops some more Shaman powers she has to handle. Well written flowing smoothly from one scene to the next keeping the reader hooked from the first page. Really a must read for fans of the genre. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
This book is by far the best so far! We have a little of everything. Heat! 😉. Mystery. Joy. And a little bit craziness.
I love how Connor, Raz and Hunter all have Mel’s back so much! She’s growing into herself and I’m loving watching her know her worth and fall more in love with these guys.
Her shanam “powers” have grown and she is becoming quite powerful apparently but has yet to see it. Can she save the shifters she sees and feels? I’m pretty excited to see how she grows even more. Plus maybe a baby! Whattttt. Lol.
*Overall 5/5 *Heat? 4/5 *MM *First person POV *MMFM Romance. Trying for MMFMM. *Quick read
Man this series is taking us on one hell of a rollercoaster ride! Tons of emotions and a storyline filled with twists and turns and ups and downs, drama and suspense! As with all the other books I was hooked from the start and just could not put this down as the author does an amazing job at drawing you in, I found myself laughing and crying a few tears along the way !
3.5 ⭐⭐⭐ "Tightrope" by Crystal Ash had its moments, but I found it a bit frustrating. While it's an enjoyable read, it doesn't quite measure up to the brilliance of the first book in the series. The plot had its highs and lows, and some character developments left me wanting more. It's a decent addition to the series, but not the standout I was hoping for.
This series has me biting my nails waiting for the final book... Seriously it's well written, has some steaming hot scenes and the storyline gives a little, while leaving you wanting more!
OMG, I don't even have words to say how good this book was. I could hardly put this book down. I just had to know what was going to happen next. We have so many emotions and suspense going on. Can't wait to see where the next book brings us.
Book 5 I thought had the most heartache, growth, and tension/amazing reunions of the whole series. I loved seeing Connor step up and keep the family together, I didnt like but appreciate how Hunter finally got his head on straight and told Melody and Raz how he feels, and I loved seeing the walls break down (even if he was a twat sometimes) with Arjun haha. I really love this groups dynamic and how they are all good for each other, and accept one another, despite there being more than just the relationship with Melody between them. I love M/M so this part of the story was amazing for me haha 🥵🥵🥵.
In terms of the story, we get to see Arjun help Melody learn more about herself and her shaman abilities after they make the journey to Florida for an amazing job opportunity for them. I loved what helped Melody with all the voices, it made me want to go get a kitten hahaha. I thought the job opportunity was cool and that aspect of the carnival/powers part was great and everyone chipped in haha. I thought the show was funny and would be something I would want to see if it were real life. We knew things weren't going to end well with how the underlying saving shifters plot was evolving, and Melody and team have to overcome some startling realizations with shifters in the Miami area. I enjoyed Melody getting to learn more about other shifters and communicate with them (the beach scene was one of my favs for many reasons haha). The surprise at the end was shocking, not gonna lie. I liked the added plot that I won't spoil but it didnt become the #1 concern because that would have irked me. It was brought up, cutely and steamily addressed with Connor, and then left for book 6 and beyond to deal with.
Overall probably my favorite book of the series because of how things came together and how intense the plot is getting. Already read through book 6 since I needed to know what happened next haha. Definitely recommend, 5/5 stars from me 😊
Holy dragon scales and wolf tails! This one is the best yet! From the very beginning, to that incredible cliffhanger, Tightrope is a Rollercoaster through heaven and hell. In the previous book, the gang arrived in Georgia for Connor to get the help he desperately needs. In this, he gets an amazing set of prosthetics, tailor made to his body. As much of a pain in the butt as he's been about it, he recognizes Mel's insistence as a good thing and thanks her, thankS her, THANKS her for it. The appearance of Hunter's brothers stirs up emotions and fears in all of them, but particularly Mel and Raz. I gotta say, I sorta love Gabe and Colt. Something about them is... fun and exciting, even though they are minor characters. I'm skeptical of Miriam. I don't know about her. The trip to Florida, I like the idea of them all combining into one show but I don't know that I enjoyed the damsel in distress part. They could've done something better. As far as them finding the compound and possibly attempting a rescue, I'd love to see it. I'm also afraid it won't work out so well for someone. Mel opens up more in this book. She isn't as whiney. Connor isn't as bullheadish. Even Arjun finally starts to thaw. I'm excited for the next one!!

This book is just as amazing as all the others in the series. This one had a lot more progress on the shaman and captured shifters front than before and a little less relationship development and maintenance. The balancing act of Mel and her growing relationships were still there and a huge part of the overall story line but we had less of the freak show/carnival arc and more of working towards rescuing the captured shifters.
The author continues to amaze me with her creativity and ability to craft a compelling story with relatable characters. I would also like to point out that I was hopping to see Raz’s sword swallowing skills put to good use on Hunter and I got to read it in this book!! YESSSS!!! The steam level in this book is hot, just like all the others, but the addition of MM takes it to a whole other level.
Only 1 more book in the series and I want to binge read it because I’m addicted to Mel and her story but I know it will be coming to an end quickly. Seriously, this is one of the best series I have read recently. Fantastic series!!! 😍
It definitely enjoyed the world the author created and how each one of the characters in the harem had different personalities and their own insecurities and such. Personally I thought the 6 books could be condensed down to 3, but whatever, more money for the author.
It kept reminding you that the main character was 18, but I think it kept reminding you of this because none of these characters seemed like the age they were (18-23ish). I don’t know if the author wanted the characters to be younger for a New Adult type of age group or what, but they all seemed too mature to be in that age range. Which I’m totally cool with because I ignore that it kept saying she was 18 and just read like she was mid 20’s or so.
Drama. Smut. Imperfect characters. Bisexual relationships. Overall pretty fun set of books.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
I absolutely love this series and this book is no exception. This one in particular played havoc on my emotions. The utter joy at some reunions and improvements made my heart so happy. But uncertainty about relationships and where they stood broke my little black heart.
These characters have it rough. Just when things start looking up more is thrown at them but they remain so strong. I love seeing them get through the hard trials of life and coming out stronger on the other side.
Crystal has made me addicted. Much like she has with all her series. With only one more book, I don’t know if I’m ready to say goodbye to these characters. However, I can’t wait to see what happens next while hoping they get the happy ending they deserve.
This series is consistently fast-paced with action, danger, and steamy romance that is compressed into quick, entertaining reads. I enjoy the ongoing circus theme and that there is some MM within the harem. In general I prefer a slower paced, more involved/detailed story but when I’m in the mood for something with quicker payoffs this series fits the bill. It was nice to see more of Arjun, the newest shifter to join their little band of performers, and I like that he is hesitant to join the harem. I also thought the drama surrounding Hunter and his choice was a good conflict. Looking forward to seeing how the series ends in the next book, which is noted to be the final one.
Melody keep growing into her powers. Raz, Hunter and Connor’s love for her is only growing. But theirs troubles never ends. There is so many shifters still suffering in captivity, so many cruelty against them. They all try, try to get to the bottom of the problem while creating theirs future. And RJ bringing new insight in shaman abilities, however the past is haunting him and even resurfacing. Ah I seriously can’t wait to read the next and last part, however dread as well the end of this story.
I have to say, I wasn't as thrilled with the last installment as I usually am with this series. But Crystal Ash more than made up for it with this amazing addition. No matter what, I knew I would be devouring this one like I did all the rest with such an epic series. I am literally dreading the end and was a bit devastated to read the next will be the last! And after that bombshell dropped in the end, I'll be waiting for the finale on the edge of my seat! <3
The books continue to pull you in deeper, taking the reader on this roller coaster of emotion, twists and turns, and ups and downs. These books are so hard to put down, and every time I am done, I just can't wait for more! In this book, we get a little more focus on Hunter, delving into his family, but it's not all easy going. And Arjun the tiger may be the only thing keeping Mel alive, even if they can't get along. I can't wait to see what the next book brings! How will the story play out!
This book gets pretty dark for a little bit but there's a lot more good news with a big break for Mel and her shifters on the stage.
Mel the main lead learns more about her shaman powers in this book which is interesting and the sad part about so many shifters being imprisoned is a theme in this book.
The relationships certainly grow more in this story.
Looking forward to seeing where this change of scenery goes for the harem
This is another excellent addition to this series. The book is well written and the story and characters are well developed. I love the individual characters and their dynamics with each other. The story was amazing and was full of action, suspense, intrigue, emotion, hot chemistry and romance. I’ve loved this series so far and look forward to the next book! I’d highly recommend this book!!
With being so close to the end I’m now worried that it won’t be enough and that I need at least 5 more books to finish this series. Melody has gotten more confident in her position as Ringmistress and as a Shaman, Connor is getting himself back together after assistance in Georgia and the scene is set for a showdown with the people behind all of it.
Things are heating up and the plot is getting thicker!! I was a bit shocked with that ending, but things are making sense. I loved Tightrope, there's a lot happening in this one and it's not slow at all. Relationships are put to the test, as well as Melody's abilities. There's several times that she's overwhelmed by them and Arjun helps her anchor herself back out.
I am loving this story and diving straight into Curtain Call!
Amazing!!! No words can describe how much I love this book/series. I have to say in this one Hunter is not my favorite. I still love Connor and Raz. Arjun definitely is growing on me and I can’t wait to see what happens between him and Melody was in the next book. The ending I wanted to scream. I wanted more and it killed me that it was over.
I completely thought arjun and our scaled friend were going to get shifter-napped again, thank goodness it didn't turn that way! I wouldn't have been able to handle hanging from that type of cliff. Anyway, completely awesome installment in the series and I'm going to be sad to see it end with the next book.
