So many feels

I don[‘t often find books that not only make me laugh out loud but also make me actually cry. As I have gone through more of these books, there is one complaint that I have. I have noticed that there are some inconsistencies as the books progress. Even major points end up being rewritten later and that’s a little frustrating to me. However, as much as normally I would dock a star for this, the fact that I can be moved to tears, to laughter, and back to tears within a few chapters is so unusual that it balances it back to a full five stars. In this collection of books, the focus shifts from pop and literary culture to the great artists throughout history. This is another set that I had received one of the books for to review but I enjoyed it so much, I purchased the collection. I’ll be enjoying the next set of books as soon as I submit this review!

5🌟

I rarely leave a five star review on cozy mysteries any more, however this series deserves it. Being a huge Harry Potter fan, ( yes ever senior citizens can love Harry too, ) her comedic references to the Harry Potter characters were a hit. This series has some similarities between the two. Felix Thatch being similar to professor Snapes, as well as others characters being slightly similar. However, this has the love interest between the staff members at Womby's School for Wayward Witches.
There are a lot of LOL moments as well as full out belly laughs! I highly recommend this series, but start at the beginning! It is worth it! Well written and well edited. Kudos!

An Absolute Must Read!

Imagination is something everyone possesses. Thankfully there are authors like Sarina Doris who truly take imagination to an all the high. The storyline that threaded through all 10 books was incredible. There were so many surprises I was truly elated! Telling a story is great but Ms. Doris weaves an absolutely phenomenal tale that should be read by anyone who loves not just a suspenseful story but one you can get lost in so it is hard to put down. I truly wish I could give this 10 stars.

Love these books I have read them all so far and eagerly awaiting reading the rest. The characters are amazing and you never know what kind of trouble the main characters are going to get into.

I read all six as individual books, but the Bundle is the way to go. Just be sure to read the FIRST five books first, so you get the full impact of this bundle. By the way, there is another eight or so books in this series, plus numerous spin-offs if you didn't get enough of Clarissa, Thatch, Vega, Lucifer, Womby's, the Raven Court and the Silver Court.
Books 6-10 start getting too adult for young readers. There is lots of sex along with magic and misadventures galore.

Another great read from Sarina Dorie. I'm drawn into the colorful lives of all the characters and I think I'm in love with the mysterious Thatch. Vega is mean but I think she will eventually find the love she seeks if she can get over the death of the love of her life, Dox. A series that leaves you wanting more with each book.

Clarissa is a teacher who has recently found she's a witch. She's teaching in a magical boarding school where most of the students know more about magic than she does. I have really enjoyed this series of books.

Unexpectedly exciting

I enjoyed these books. I got a little frustrated with the Love triangle, but things seem to be on a road...gravel maybe, but less bumpy.
Gotta keep reading!

Be forewarned these books need better editing and my rating reflects this. But the series has potential.

These books have adult content and are not suitable for young readers.

In the second box set of Womby’s School for Wayward Witches, Clarissa Lawrence is still looking for love in all the wrong places.

Reading, Writing, and Necromancy

At the end of volume 5, she had finally been reunited with her high school sweetheart, Derrick. But this happiness disintegrates when he tries to kill her by draining all her magic. But Felix Thatch brings her back just in the nick of time. Clarissa continues to be unable to tell whether Thatch likes her or not.

Meanwhile, Clarissa has accidentally set Mr. Khaba, the school’s security chief, who is a djinn, free from the curse that tied him to the school and turned him into a demon, which is his natural state. That did a great deal of damage.

And even before that, Principle Bumblebub turned up with a new teacher for the school – a sasquatch. Nobody seems to be able to figure out what Pinky’s gender is, so Clarissa provisionally decides to refer to the Sasquatch in her head using the pronouns xe and xir. This keeps up through maybe half of this volume until it seems decided that it is Mr. Pinky. This is the first time I have seen anybody attempt to use alternative pronouns to refer to somebody, but in this case, it seems to work pretty well.

Aside from that, Mr. Pinky turns out to be a good addition to the school. Although he isn’t a major character in this set of books, he is Fae and has several useful skills.

Budget Cuts for the Dark Arts and Crafts

Without a proper security chief, Womby’s is vulnerable to various Fae attacks. The Raven Court, Clarissa’s enemies since before she came to the school send Derrick in with a bunch of their people in an air pirate attack. And then the King of the Silver Court, which we haven’t heard of before, shows up and starts trying to lure students away with art supplies. Principal Bumblebub claims revenues for the school are short, and they don’t have money for proper art supplies (among other things).

Despite serious misgivings, Clarissa agrees to attend a party for the Silver Court to get them to leave the students alone. There she meets the rebellious Prince Elric, who wishes to court her. The remainder of this book and most of the next two consist of Clarissa’s misadventures with Elric.

My Crazy Hex-Boyfriend

More adventures with Elric. Elric and Thatch attempt to fight over Clarissa.

Spell it Out for Me

Clarissa comes close to marrying Elric. He seems in many ways a nice guy, but he isn’t complexly to be trusted. It turns out that he already has at least two living wives. This doesn’t count several earlier wives who have passed on.

Hex Crimes

In the last book of this box set, Mr. Khaba learns to control his demon nature enough to come back to the school, and apparently not a moment too soon.

Clarissa and Vega bring a long-dead witch back to life long enough to learn valuable information about Clarissa’s infamous mother. They also learn how the witch died.

Vega moves into the tower where Josie Kimura, Claissa’s best friend has been living, and Josie moves in with Clarissa. This doesn’t go as well as it should, though. It turns out that Josie is a Jorogumo (a kind of spider shifter, whose venom is a powerful aphrodisiac as well as potentially deadly). And Clarissa’s power draws Josie’s power out. Josie bites Clarissa, and one way and another, both of them nearly die. Somehow Principal Bumblebub comes in on them and reveals that much of the school’s problems have been his doing. He is the one who killed the witch Clarissa and Vega found and reanimated. He has been embezzling money from the school for years, which is why they never have enough. He tries to kill Clarissa for her magic, but Josie, despite being wrapped in her own spider silk manages to get her fangs out enough to bite him again and again until he is dead.

The repercussions of that are still reverberating at the end of the book. And there are still plenty of unanswered questions left to provide material for the next set of books.

Can a girl catch a break?

In this installment, Clarissa learns more about her affinity and continues working to control it. There are several surprises regarding staff members and Imani's heritage. This series is well written and holds your attention in that you want to keep reading to find out what happens next. Beware: there are torture scenes and x-rated content.

Loved this series, very much like the Harry Potter series, but on the teachers rather than the children, so if you like Harry Potter you’re going to love this,
