Azkin’s world was shattered when his parents were killed in a terrible accident five years ago. When the chance to bring them back is offered to him, he accepts. But there are stipulations with that offer. As the true Aztec Alpha, he must unite two packs—the Beta Omega pack and the Theta Alpha pack, uniting them under one pack, building the new Aztec pack. However, Azkin never wanted a family or a pack, let alone lead one. He loves living in the human world as an Accountant. Going back to this world alone is not an option he wants, but if he must, he wants to take his best friend Zain with him. Zain is undercover as an Accountant, he is also a member of the Alpha Protection Squad, a unit that is protecting Alphas living in the human world. All members are Ex-US Army personnel. Zain is Azkin’s protector and also his best friend. Protecting the Aztec Wolf who the rest of the world has been searching for during the last fourteen hundred years is not easy. Protecting the Aztec Wolf, when he doesn’t know he is one, is even harder.
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
3-3.5 stars
The beginning was deeply moving and that was the point the author had my full attention. However, as the story progressed, my interest started drifting either due to repetition, being overwhelmed with too much info or too many characters.
Azkin and Zain had a strong bond but I’m going to be completely honest, these two alphas took their sappiness to a whole new level. These two were cute together and I liked how they reassured and supported each other.
In the first half of the book, there were times I got confused because I wasn’t sure what was happening or who was talking which meant I had to re-read several parts. These confusing parts made it difficult to follow and/or enjoy the story. Jumping from one POV to another didn’t help the issue.
There were loads of character and I struggled to keep track of them.
Overall, this was a good read with plenty of originality. The two alphas have a long journey ahead and I’m curious to see what obstacles they face along the way.
Wow just wow this book is just awesome it literally had me crying with the raw emotion especially in the first few chapters not something im usually prone to when reading. Balanced with funny and light hearted moments I can't recommend this book enough. Definitely a 5 star read in book (no pun intended).
A unique world with common issues, this series has the potential to be a good blend between the two. It's not assured from the first story that the path is solid there, but it's got a few positives going for it that show the makings of something interesting.
The writing style is just not for me. It was so hard to sink into the story because I constantly felt like the author was just trying too hard to make the language seem as mysterious, other worldly, and poetic as possible. And then with the sudden usage of the F bomb I was shocked out of whatever groove I was kind of finding myself in. I'm not against profanity, not at all, but the way it was used in its inception just doesn't fit. It very quickly becomes apparent that they're pretty modern in their dirty talk when things get hot between the men, so it's not like they don't use those words, it's just the mix of esoteric and profane that doesn't work. And the CONSTANT shifting of perspective between not just the main characters but pretty much every single side character too was beyond frustrating. I kept getting lost and I'm not really one to be easily confused.
As for the characters themselves, there's a disconnect for me. I kinda like them but I'm not captivated. Azkin has great moments, but he is so reactionary that I just can't seem to get a handle on what kind of person he really is. There are a ton of sides to him, facets that make him uniquely perfect for his role in the story, but they don't all flow together well enough to make each part seem like it's part of a whole. Similarly with Zain, we get a lot of intimations of secrets, past damage, and motivations prefaced by "We need to talk" and then almost nothing gets really explained. We get his explanations in pieces that don't exactly fit with where they're placed in the story.
I think the story suffers from trying too hard and a lack of flow. Despite that, the story finds itself by the end and though it took me days to read the book instead of hours for its length, I'm actually looking forward to getting into the second book. With an info dump of epic proportions for so many of the side characters I found myself drawn to many of them once I saw their interactions with the Aztec Alphas. Before that I just wanted to skip over pages and pages of introductions...I didn't and am glad for it, but it was certainly an endeavor to read to the end of the book. In order to make those characters all make sense and give them a sense of place in the world that's created we get quite a few side stories with relationships, mates, experiences, and interactions that don't necessarily add depth to the overall story, but it does give a broader sense of who fits where and tells us the Aztecs have a whole lot of ridiculous that we'll be experiencing and learning about as the series progresses.
I went into this book knowing it was a debut story from a new author. I had read the blurb and was excited at the storyline.
First l want to say that l was so impressed at the sheer volume of characters and the depth of the story as it would expand. l loved the Aztec Wolf prophecy, a story that has so much to offer.
l felt the authors tentative first steps into writing, l felt her need to rush, and put thoughts down in to words. However, putting all of that aside l can say that l was stunned. Stunned by the level of story development for a newbie.
l am so excited to know that there is much more to come, l loved the story more and more as more Alphas and Omegas and fated mates were introduced. There is good versus evil, and so much justice to be had, as the prophecy comes to life.
Azkin and Zain are going to do so much good when they can keep their hands off each other long enough,( so horny). The protectors, each with their own strengths and mates. Pappy and Pappa will always be there to keep everyone safe and fed. As the prophecy unfolds and more battles are fought the level of excitement rises.
A very good introduction ( if a little rushed ) into a new world. l am looking forward to reading more from this author, as she seems to have some different and really good ideas. A good start to a new series.
This was an interesting, intense, intriguing, fascinating, sexy, complicated, sexy, unexpected, and definitely different take on the standard shifter storyline. I really had to pay attention in places to keep from getting confused, but I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book from this new-to-me author.
I do want to say, I did really enjoy this story and honestly can’t wait to see what’s coming next. The only major problem I had, is that for the first chunk of the story, things often seemed repetitive and almost forced. As far as conversation and stuff. And for me, it was hard to kind of get through the first part. Which is why I said, as a whole, I really did enjoy it. I love the alpha/omega, etc, books, as everyone knows, so it was nice to see a new twist on some things. So, when Azkin, in his grief of losing his parents, finally sees them again, it’s a shock he wasn’t ready for. Not only that, but what they had to tell him and where they were, was another blow. And then add his best friend, Zain, and how he feels about him and where he fits into all this, he feels like he’s lost his mind. But as he realized Zain already knows most of what is going on and why he knows, it’s mind boggling but a relief to know Zain feels the same way. The problem now is what they have to do in order to make this prophecy true. And it feels like a huge task to undergo. And Azkin isn’t sure he’s ready for it. But with Zain’s help and the help of his parents, and others, he sets about the task he was meant to do. But with all that is against him, will they be able to do what they are meant to, or will it be over before it even starts? I think the other thing that upset me in this book, is that Azkin’s parents left him completely unprepared for anything he was supposed to do. Not only that, but they kind of manipulated his grief in order to make sure he took his rightful place. That didn’t sit right with me. Because of Azkin’s good heart and rightness in things, he did the right thing anyway, but he should have been better prepared. Told about this so long ago. And possibly kept from a world of hurt that he had to endure in the meantime. But I liked the story overall. It’s a good vs. evil kind of thing. It’s not justa pack politics kind of thing. Although, those are involved to an extent. It’s about doing the right thing for the packs, which has been denied for so long. All because of greed and a thirst for power that shouldn’t have been theirs to begin with. So, it was good to see how they worked together and how they strategized trying to fix this problem to make it better. It didn’t mean it was all going to work overnight. By no means. But Azkin is a good man and has a great mate. And his parents, even when they were wrong in some ways, are good people too and only have what’s best for the packs at heart. It’s a good story. It’s a slow start, but once you get to the meat of the story, it’s a good one. I’m anxious to see how this is going to turn out next.
The Aztec Alphas by author F.R.D’Angelo is a complicated read. This book starts off The Prophecy series. I loved the artwork in this book so pretty. Now the rest of the book however, I am not sure I completely understood this story. It starts off by hearing about the legend of the Aztec wolves and how they are going to come back. Then we jump ahead 28 years to where the story starts now. We have Azkin who has lost his parents. He has also lost his way too. He has not turned into his wolf for a long time now, he cannot seem to find his center. His best friend and who he discovers he loves has been avoiding him. Then the prophecy starts…. And the entire world changes for Azkin. There is action, the supernatural, shifters, and lots of love all tied together in this story. There is a happy for now ending. And it does turn out that Zain loves Azkin but is it enough to help him get through what is to come and save all of them? There is a ton of information in this book. I think that was my problem with this story. I felt overwhelmed and lost. However, I shall see how the next book is. Sometimes first books suffer from this problem and the second book irons it all out. I am looking forward to the next part of this series and more clarification on this story.
This is a very intense Mpreg shifter romance & somewhat different to the normal/standard MM shifter romances. The plot is entertaining & has good world building, it takes the reader on an interesting journey. The characters are well-developed & likable. There is some good support from the secondary characters. There is: two alphas (Azkin) & (Zain) with a quest to save shifters, a Aztec council, guardians, a cruel & abusive alpha (Dante) of the Theta pack, drama, intrigue, some humor, pack issues, traitors, alphas, betas, omegas, prophecies, magic, adventure, action, emotional turmoil, attractions, fated mates, surprises, verbal banter, battle plans, rescues, injuries, some steamy scenes & a HFN conclusion.
Azkin’s parents have just died. He has been sheltered all his life and is struggling to fit in. Zain protects Alphas in the Aztec Alpha Protection Program. When an ancient prophecy is resurrected it brings the two men to the forefront. This was a fast-paced story for me to read. I love the shifter world featuring Alpha/Omega dynamics. Best friends falling in love, lots of action, with a dash of supernatural, a great combination. It does get a bit complicated at times, but otherwise it is a good story. I am voluntarily leaving a review form an ARC that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
After loosing my parents to an accident life has become so very difficult, I am so very lost and lonley now. I decide to spend sometime at the farm and while out in the fields I finially lose it as my grief overwhelms me and the Prophacy that was foretold was coming true. My parents are back from the dead, we will form a new pack and I will become the Aztec Alpha but only if things go the way they are fortold.
This is an amazing book and i highly recommend . It was gripping and full of emotion , the aztec world and the shapeshifters and there personalities and relationships and the legacy that they have to follow has you gripped to every page and when this book closes you are left wanting more and missing your visits into the aztec alphas world , enchanting x
I read and voluntarily reviewed an arc of this story. I read the first three of these together and I absolutely couldn’t put them down. When reading the first one it’s like alright I see potential building. The concept and creativity is there. Then I get to books two and three and so much more comes to light. I am really looking forward to seeing what happens next.
This is a whole new level of a shifter story! Wow! I was blown away and can’t wait for the next book. Az and Zain are embarking on a hard yet beautiful journey together. You will not be disappointed
This book has an excellent concept and storyline. I found it best to read when I was able to focus,as in when the kids was in bed.lol highly recommend this series.
Aztec Alphas: The Prophecy by Frances R D'Angelo is a wonderfully crafted story filled with intriguing characters and story. Azkin and Zain, along with the other characters, are amazing. I love the action, the sexiness, the feeling of pack...I was sucked into the story and captivated the whole time. I can not wait for the series to continue.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest post review and recommendation
This is the first book in The Aztec Alphas Series. A good story in concept but didn’t completely make it out and into the writing. There were places that I thought were really good and yet others that could use some help in writing or details. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. The characters were developed and thought out. Azkin and Zain are the MC’s of this book. I will reread this book at some point to see what I think about it then. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
Interesting plot, good characters, underdeveloped potential.
This was a new to me author and series. I’m glad that I read it but I don’t see it becoming a favorite. I enjoyed the concept and how there were several unique twists in the paranormal/shifter story and world. It also had some great and unique characters. I see a lot of potential in this overall story line, but I felt like it just didn’t quite get there with this one. There were numerous places where it felt disjointed and I had to backtrack sentences or more to make something clear. The flow wasn’t always smooth (and I don’t mean the story, because not all stories should be smooth!). I mean the transitions and details didn’t always go well or fit. It made it difficult for me to just really sink in and enjoy the story.
Overall, worth the read, I did really enjoy the concept just not all the execution. I’m going to read book two and take it from there.
Needs more stars, everything about this one I loved Read revised book and standing by my original review
A first read for this author with this book, I think a debut too. LOVED THIS 💖 The start got my attention right way with a folklore tale from a time skip of 28 yrs ago. The Aztec Alphas had special powers.. This includes: grief and confusion, scenes that made me lol. ghost wolves, friends to mates, knotting and telepathic, wolf names (loved that) A brilliant story till right to the end which is a HFN which I couldn't put down reading til midnight. I especially loved this because it's a non-mpreg but I think that will change in future books to come. Present- Akin lived alone in the city hiding who he was, being friends with Zain 35 yrs another alpha wolf he releases he feels it's love. Alphas Akin and Zain lives where about to entwine and become complicated.
This is a re-release of a debut novel and can I say wow, I love the idea of the story it is so intriguing. This prophecy and the two alphas in question are well imagined and fully realised with everything that they need, and how they compliment each other personality wise.
I will comment on how sappy the characters are because there is a fair bit of sappiness going on and these shifters/wolves are horny I mean seriously horny, so be aware if you are a sensitive human.
There is a fair bit of world building and lots of secondary characters all bringing their own personalities and it looks set to become bigger as the story unfolds, which makes this to be a fully immersive experience when reading I’m looking forward to more.
I liked the concept of the story but I had a hard time reading this one. More then once I was confused and lost. I had a hard time keeping track of all the characters. At times I wasn’t sure who was talking so it took me forever to read this one. I think if the authors would have slowed down and taken a little more time and not thrown so much information at us all at once, I would have enjoyed it more. I will probably continue with the series as I want to see where they go from here.
ARC provided by LesCourt Services in exchange for an honest review.
Complex and creative shifter story-line that will keep you engaged. I enjoyed the MC's and found the story interesting. This is a complex story and i found that i had to pay attention to the who is who of the story.
I enjoyed the complex characters of Azlin and Zain and found myself very engaged. The author used a slightly different take on the paranormal than most authors and it created an interesting story.
This is book one of this series and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
I was gifted this book from the LesCourt Author Services and i freely give my honest opinion and review.

This is the story of Azkin and Zain. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has an original storyline. The author takes you on an incredible journey through this book. I love Azkin and Zain. The secondary characters are great. I lovecthe intrigue and the ups and downs. The chemistry between them is sizzling. This is a real page turner. Wonderfully written.
I received this book as an Arc and I am reviewing it voluntarily.
... It was a little confusing at times The word (Alpha) was used so much it made my eyes cross sometimes It needs some editing (missing/extra words) The way it skips from one characters (dialog/thought) to the next without clear intention of doing so. But the storyline and plot are attention grabbing, there are some great characters, and a lot of sexy time, to which I found myself skipping over to get back to the main focus of the story.
This is book has kick start off a wonderful shifter series. This book was showing us the Aztec Alpha has come back after 1400 years. We see the build of some strong characters that will support Azkin and Zain in their journey. Cant wait to see what happens in book 2. What will they do about Zain brother and Quinn. If you like shifter books then you will enjoy this one and this upcoming series
this was a really good story.. it had spots that the editing was rough but it didnt take away from my review because i know it was getting fixed... the characters are different, and interesting. it was a different type of paranormal story then i was used to. i really liked it. and im glad i took a chance on it. i cant wait to see what is next.
Was a good plot but way to much dialogue! I skipped half the book because it rambled and was repetitive. Can’t stand a book that is over half explaining or talking and not moving the plot along.
