Selina and Joseph were madly in love during their college years. They married and created a picture-perfect family. But, after only a few years of love and happiness, Selina discovers a horrible secret about her Mr. Right's past. It was hidden in the most unexpected place, his Bible.
Quick read. Story held my interest as Joy's devious soul caused plenty of chaos. I wondered at times if Joseph spoke the truth to Selina especially by his actions. Timothy was a real friend to both. Good ending

"Delayed But Not Denied" by Teresa B. Howell
My Rationalization:
I will say this was quite a page-turner that will definitely keep your attention. I am not sure just who I felt sorrier for...Selina or that Joseph. Definitely, there was a help that was needed for both of these individuals and not to mention that other one. This author really brings out a situation that happens a lot in our churches where there is 'adultery, infidelity, obsession, and violence' and when the secrets start coming out there is hurt in all the lives of those involved. There is definitely a lesson to be learned from "Delayed But Not Denied" and that is 'you reap what you sow.'
Selina and Joseph has been married about a year and have just had their first child and everything is going great until Selina finds a secret that Joseph has been hiding for years and in the most unexpected place to find it was in her husbands bible. This secret puts an unwanted strain on their marriage and their lives.
Delayed But Not Denied deals with a lot of real life issues that are going on in and outside of the church. Adultery, obsession, violence and so much more.Things that went in on in this story just left me with my mouth wide open. Faith is a wonderful thing to have because without the lord I am not sure if I could have put up or dealt with what Selena went through. Their were some emotional parts in the story for me, a lot of it was anger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Infidelity and obsession is a hot topic within our society. I enjoyed how the author penned this book. I wasn't thrilled with the ending I wanted to know more. I look forward to reading more of her writings.
I really enjoyed reading this book. When I first came across the book the title grabbed me. Then as I read more and more I found my self hooked and unable to stop reading. I definitely learned a lot from this book.
When I borrowed this book I thought it would be the typical Christian fiction. Not was I wrong. Excellent story thrilling, eye opening. Exposing the sins and how easy Satan can slip in. Excellent excellent is all I can say
This book shows that soul ties do exist and can ruin your life. Joseph made bad decisions and almost lost everything because of those past decisions. The author allows us to see through this story that God wins every time. Love can be delayed but with God not denied.
The book had a good plot but it made Selina to sweet and vulnerable. It’s like she didn’t have a voice. I would’ve like to learn a little more about Timothy and Maxine marriage
On the outside, Pastor Joseph and his first Lady, Selina look like the perfect church couple. Behind closed doors lies the real truth. And what happens when the real truth comes to the light.
This book dealt with a lot of issues that sometimes tends to plaque the church, and I enjoyed every minute of this book. Good Job.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book because I tried to read 'That Church Life' on two separate occasions and couldn't get into it. But this book flowed from the beginning, got right down to business, drawing me in and I could barely put it down to get anything done. Although it dealt with a cheating minister, I highly appreciated that the author didn't go into explicit details about the affair. I find that so much in 'Christian' fiction these days and was glad the author took the high road getting the story across. With all that Selina endured from her husband, I was glad that she found forgiveness in her heart. I loved the scene where Timothy took her to his secret place and I believe that was the beginning of Selina's return to God and faith. She leaned on Timothy way too much anyway and I could see how his wife would have a problem with that. I wish that had been expounded upon. And Joy, well there's a hint of what her life will become, but I wouldn't mind reading more about her. Good book with some hard life lessons. I'll be looking for more from this author.
The storyline in this book was something else. I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster of being mad, happy, sad, wow and wanting to choke the crap out of two of the characters. My attention was grabbed right from the beginning until the very end and I still wanted more to see the comeuppance of the character Joy. She was definitely the devil's spawn and cray cray. It is funny how men like the character Joseph has a loving and beautiful wife who loves God and him being a minister feels the grass is greener on the other side by cheating on his wife with other women in the church. There is a lesson to be learned no matter what sin is sin and you do reap what you sow. Sometimes that ditch you dig for someone else, you wind up falling in it yourself. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to read. Cassandra H.
Once again, Author Teresa Howell has penned another faith-based page turner. Delayed but Not Denied focuses on the troubled marriage of Selina and Joseph Witherspoon, a minister at Ebenezer Church and his complex history with the First Lady, Joy Shackleford. As dark secrets are revealed, danger lurks and threatens to implode the lives of all involved. This is a book that you won’t be able to put down. Five stars! Looking forward to the next.
Joy, Joy, Joy you were an evil, wicked, manipulating tramp and you got just what you deserved and it wasn't Joseph. Joseph I can somewhat understand how you felt about Joy, but she played you. The flesh is weak and she knew that, that's why you kept holding on to her and she knew that. I felt bad for Selina because she seemed like a sweet woman but you dogged her. I loved this story it and me mad at times, but it was worth it.
The author recommended this book to my book club about a week ago and asked to give an honest review. I really enjoyed reading this book and discussing it with the other ladies. This is real! There are so many people like Joseph that continue to reach back in time and mess with folks based on soul ties. I felt this was a 5 star book all though the ending seemed a little rushed. I cant wait to read part 2.
Good read. Selina and Joseph dated during their college years and then got married. They planned to have a great marriage. Selina discovers a secret about Joseph, which she found in his Bible. Joseph had an affair with Joy, an older woman and she could not let go. People do not realize that soul ties do exist and need to be broken before entering another relationship. Joseph almost lost everything due to Joy. With God All things are possible.
Well I can honestly say that Selina was a good woman and wife. Joseph was a confused man he needed God through this whole book. Joy was looking for love in the wrong places. I'm not saying she deserved what happen to her but anybody can change. This was a great read it keep need interested.
This was my first book by this author. It was really God. It showed me that soul ties are real. I don't know if I would have been forgiving as Selina. And Joy boy she could not take no for answer. But as they say you reap what you sow.
What does it take before a person comes to their senses. Do they have to loose everything they have, their family, their self respect, their livelihood. Without God first, it can happen. Happy ending for the Family! Joy is reaping!
Very good book. Story held my attention. I kept asking myself was Bishop ever going to find out about Joy and Joseph and were Selina and Timothy going to discover they had real feeling for each other
This is an exciting novel! Oh my Goodness! I am so anxious for the next book in this series. I need to find out what happens with the characters next. A real page turner and you won't regret reading it. Awesome work from an awesome writer.
From start to finish this book was full of drama. It depicted acts of forgiveness that is rare in this day and age. Most importantly it harped on the point that prayer changes things if you would just hand your burdens over to Him.
Love this author she is amazing. I look forward to all her books because I am never disappointed by her work. This book is an amazing faith based page turner.
