Jerry the Squirrel: Volume Two

Rate this book
Jerry is a Squirrel. Jerry is also an inventor... quite a good one, as a matter of fact. He can design and build just about anything. The problem is, Jerry's inventions rarely work the way he wants them to work.

Join Jerry in this second Volume of ten stories, featuring classic tales such as, Flying Squirrel, Tunnel Friends, The Squirrel Who Cried Hawk and Landmines! ( by "classic" I mean "recently written")

These stories are sure to grab your attention and hold it for... at least the time it takes to read ten stories!

Shawn P. B. Robinson hails from the Great White North, and he suspects his dislike of cold and snow is part of what drives him to immerse himself in other worlds. Whether he’s writing epic fantasy or middle-grade humor, he passionately pours his heart into his writing, seeking to create characters that we can all relate to and stories that engage the heart and soul.

In Shawn’s early 40s, he contracted a viral infection in his brain (encephalitis) which left him unable to work a normal job, but able to write when he has energy. In the midst of such loss, Shawn’s family, faith, and writing have brought joy to his heart and continue to motivate him.

Shawn continues to make his home in SW Ontario with his beautiful wife, two sons, and three goldfish.

He may be a squirrel but in this book he may become a hero as he goes on several adventures. Follow him and see what happens

What fun! I have never heard of Jerry the Squirrel, but it was quite entertaining! It's the sort of story I could see my nieces reading and then reenacting through drawings and videos of their own. This was my introduction to Jerry the Squirrel and I now want to check out the first volume. Although Jerry is an inventor and the short stories all begin with him being a squirrel and an inventor, not all the stories are about him inventing something. Instead, they are the adventures of Jerry and his neighbors in the village of Erry-Ville. As you read, you start to realize that these squirrels are hardy, not always the most intelligent (although Jerry is quite intelligent), and they have very short attention spans (squirrel!). The adventures are quite imaginative, and as I implied at the beginning, I could totally see this as a cartoon or comic strip! With the right illustrations, I would totally give this five stars. I have never heard of the author, but he does a great job with these tales!

I'd like to thank Shawn Robinson, NetGalley, and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Well, I liked Volume One of Jerry the Squirrel, and now I like Volume Too just as well. Jerry is still at it with his very active imagination. It does seem that he meets with more positive response from his fellow squirrels this time. Once again, these children’s tales made me laugh out loud. The Inspired Silliness continues!

Volume Two offers a bonus excerpt from the authors Arestana series. Interesting, but I did not find that as much fun as Jerry’s antics. This glimpse of a little alternate Squirrel Universe may appeal more to young readers, I suspect.

I still would like more pictures!

My thanks to author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing an advance copy for me to read and review.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I have to admit that I was excited for the second volume of Jerry the Squirrel because I loved the first one so much. It’s refreshing to read a children’s book that is just good, clean fun (nothing political, no underlying messages... just full of funny adventures).
One of the other things that I love about this books is that, even when I think I know what’s going to happen, there’s a hilarious twist.
I’m pretty sure we’ll be reading these stories over and over.

This is the second book in this series but all part of the Arestana series so there is so much more. I loved the first book I was offered as an ARC - Arestana II, so I went back and purchased Arestana I and Jerry the Squirrel 1 so I am now caught up on this series. This is an adorable story for kids and adults alike. I await each new book impatiently (haha). Very highly recommend this series.

I may be at a disadvantage due to meeting Jerry the Squirrel late in volume two. Jerry is an inventor and a leader in his squirrel world.

I like that his inventions are a necessity of immediate need or Jerry’s pleasure. He’s creative to be sure. I was turned off when the first invention involves a long litany of butt kicking or kicking butt. I know, I know children love anything involving using the word butt and this is a book for young readers. So I shook it off and moved on with an open mind,
My husband told stories he made up to his children and now to our grandchildren. As I read it feels to me like Shawn is lying in bed with the children in their nightclothes intently listening to what is going to happen next to Jerry and in our case the characters are Zeus and Sagittarius.
I think the writing style is unique and will be completely compelling to young readers. I look forward to more of Jerry’s clever inventions and the surprising outcomes of the use of his inventions.

This was such a fun collection of stories and adventures. The characters are great, and Jerry's inventions were interesting. Each story is relatively short, and perfectly geared for younger readers. (Think early middle grade level). These would also be fun for parents to read to little ones, a story before bed to help them fall asleep with giggles and smiles. Overall a cute and quirky collection that's sure to make you laugh at least a little.

I was so excited when I heard that there was a volume two coming out. I love reading about Jerry the Squirrel! These short stories are so entertaining and funny.

These would make really great bedtime stories for children because they really hold your attention and you never know what is going to happen next. With Jerry, it could be anything.

My favourite story was Robot Mary part 1 and 2. This story was hilarious and had me laughing out loud.

If you have a really good sense of humor then this book is definitely for you, you won't regret it.

I always think it's kind of cheesy to review my own books... but... I love Jerry the Squirrel and I hope you will too!
