The CBD Oil Solution: Treat Chronic Pain, Anxiety, Insomnia, and More- without the High
This was by far the easiest to follow and the most basic book of the three books on CBD oil I read. Written by a doctor, it explains in very simple terms what the oil is, where it comes from, the difference between CBD from hemp VS. CBD from marijuana, how it’s made and extraction methods. The next part goes over different conditions that it treats and whether it is right for you or not. Part 3 tells you how to buy CBD oil if you decide it’s for you. It tells you what you need to look for on the label to be a smart consumer and to know what you are really getting. It shows examples of unclear labeling you want to avoid. Great tips. Part 4 is how to use CBD oil. It doesn’t work instantly, and this doctor has developed the five-step Patel Process which is explained in the book. It goes by the condition, and there is more in-depth information on her website. Step 1: Determine the right combination of cannabinoids. Step 2. Select the best delivery method. Step 3. Figure out the right dose. Step 4 Determine the frequency of use. Step 5 Track your use.
The next section is an FAQ about CBD. Then is Part 5: CBD Recipes – things you can make from the oil that are edibles, etc. once you’ve determined the right amount of oil you need. There’s a Matcha Latte, a Birthday Cake Bhang, Oh, Vienna!, Tummy Tea, Desert Blossom Coffee, A Bulletproof Morning, Mexican Hot Chocolate, Golden Milk, Punjabi Chai, Salted Caramel Creme, Fresh Green Smoothie, Roseberry Smoothie, + others. There is Wild Peanut Brittle, Soothing Herbal Ice Pops, Bear Hugs (gummies), Spicy Cocoa Bites, Toasty Turtles, Apricot Crumble Pies, Pistachio-Stuffed Dates, Kimchi Kale Chips, Avocado Toasties, Curried Carrot & Chia Crackers, Grass-Fed Beef Bone Broth, Raw Tomato & Red Pepper Soup, Tandoori Tofu Lettuce Wraps, Temple Massage Balm, Cooling Aloe Lotion, Clear Skin Toner, CBD Spa Mask, Purifying Salt Scrub, Kitchen Sink Salve, Joint & Muscle Salve, and others. My thanks for the advance electronic copy that was provided by NetGalley, author Rachna Patel, and the publisher for my fair review.
As someone that suffers from chronic pain, I jumped at the chance to read this title. I have used CBD oil from time to time and have witnessed the relief from not just my pain but also some of my anxiety. CBD oil seems to be widely talked about, but it has been a bit confusing for me. This book explains the different sources of CBD and how it’s different than THC, which is found in marijuana. Patel explains many of the uses for CBD from pain management to migraines, seizures and ADHD. Want to know what dose is appropriate or what type of recipe to use CBD oil in? This book has all of that too! If you are at all curious about CBD oil and if it might help you, this is a great resource! Thank you to DK and NetGalley for this informative advanced copy, my opinions are my own. I will feature this on my blog Monday December 17, 2018. www.colecampfireblog.com LanaLCole@yahoo.com
Because I'm interested in learning more about CBD oil from what it is to its potential uses and more, I borrowed this book from the library. I found it answered my basic questions and then some. I would describe this book by Dr. Rachna Patel to be a basic primer on CBD oil.
The author explains in layman terms what CBD oil is and isn't; some of its known uses and benefits, and what to look for on the labels of CBD products you consider purchasing for particular information to help you make the best choice about the quality of said product. There are also a number of illustrated recipes, vehicles for getting the CBD oil how and where you need it to go (oral, topical).
If you're looking for an in-depth book regarding all things CBD oil, this is not the one for you. It is a great overview of the topic with enough information to start you on your journey.
This guide contained some helpful general information on things like what exactly CBD is, where it comes from, how it works in the brain, and how it is extracted from the plants and made into usable products. However, I was hoping for more specifics on the medical conditions it is useful for (there were only a handful listed), general dosing ranges and recommendations, reputable brands, etc. I appreciated some of the recipes included in the book, specifically for things like the salves and soaks, but I found some of them a bit unnecessary (CBD avocado toast? yeesh.). So overall, this book was kind of a mixed bag.
Excellent learning tool without any commercial hype. The publisher's blurb gives the basics as covered in this book and the book itself gives testimonials from various patients with a variety of reasons why they were prescribed CBD oil for a variety of different issues. One very useful item included is a clear explanation of how to understand the label. I was surprised to find recipes! My only exposure has been with the capsule form. I requested and received a free ebook copy from DK Publishing via NetGalley.
I first learned about CBD after braving a trip inside an Amsterdam dispensary, where I asked the extremely kind and knowledgeable man behind the counter what he'd recommend for chronic pain without the high. He told me about CBD (and it was legal), and gave me a brief description of other medicinal properties. After doing a LOT of research then trying a CBD edible, the relief I found to my chronic pain, mild insomnia, and general anxiety was profound. The CBD Oil Solution was a very interesting read and described a lot of the research I came across before CBD became so widely known. I cringe when there's a 'bandwagon' to jump on, and CBD seems extremely popular -- enough that people aren't aware of what CBD is and can get swindled out of their money/pain relief. This book has great recommendations, recipes, scientific facts, everything that I had wished I had originally that would have cut my research time in half. I know of a few folks that are interested in learning more (and have heard horror stories of what they've paid for 'CBD' products), and would encourage them to read The CBD Oil Solution or books like it to become more aware of what's needed for personal pain relief outside of doctor-prescribed opiates.
The author, a physician, explains how CBD oil, derived from hemp but without the high associated with marijuana/THC, has helped her patients suffering from chronic pain, back pain, migraines, neuropathy, and mild to moderate insomnia. She discusses the difference between full-spectrum and isolate CBD, and advises readers to look into product purity before purchasing. Recipes are also included.
I'm almost ashamed to admit that I knew nothing about CBD before this book. Sure, I had heard claims on how it has helped others with pain and anxiety but I never knew the full spectrum of what it can do. I honestly would recommend this book to anyone. To those curious, in pain, or not knowing where or how to start with CBD I recommend picking this book up first.
I have chronic pain due to nerve damage in my right hand, wrist, and arm. I also suffer from depression and Anxiety and insomnia (how else do I read all these books). I'm the perfect CBD candidate. My daughter is the one who told me I should try CBD. I had no full understanding of it but she gave me a bottle of the drops and I now have 3 bottles of drops, a bottle of gummies, some hand cream, and a jar of pain cream. Some help others do not.
I still did not understand how and why it works and does not work. This book was an easy to read explanation of the theory of how and why CDB Oil works. There is no real scientific proof so you will see through out the book it says "studies show". There are also a bunch of recipes that include CDB Oil.
This is a nice guide for someone wanting to learn about CDB Oil.
I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com and chose to leave this review.
Excellent learning tool without any commercial hype. Presents antidotes as evidence, no real science explained, and studies mentioned are not cited.
If you're just looking for a casual overview this might be helpful, but this should not be anyone's only source of information. There are a few important topics introduced and briefly explained and then the recipes in the back look good, especially if you want to know how to make cbd lotions and lip balm.
The first part of the book contains useful information. I didn’t find the recipe section useful at all. My main frustration was that the author frequently says “studies show” but there are no references given for these studies! Eg “Research has demonstrated...” or “one study published in 2017...” WHAT research? WHO? Give the credit/reference!
NetGalley preview— excellent starting point for CBD oil, how it’s made, and what it can be used for. Best part of the book is probably the recipes as well as the pictures. Easy to read and understand, complete with index.
OK overview of the topic with some interesting facts, and some decent stories. Recipes look good, but did not try them. I checked out of my library, and I do think the book is worth having in ones own library as it does have some things one might wish to access more than once.
Dr. Patel has some really great insights and ways to distinguish high quality CBD and it's healing properties. There are also quite a few very tasty looking recipes in the end.
This is the first book about CBD Oil I've read. I am a suffer from headaches and sciatica and I am looking for a way of dealing with the pain without using so much pain medicine. This book is easy to understand and is a good introduction to someone who is thinking about using CBD Oil as an alternative to pain medicine. There is a great selection of recipes for both foods and lotions, salves, etc.
I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book supplied by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.
I have been hearing about CBD oil a lot recently but was unsure what it was or the uses for it. Since I am a nutritionist and recommend both vitamins and herbs on a regular basis this looked like a great book for me. The CBD Oil Solution is a short but clear introduction to CBD. The author clearly explains what CBD oil is. I particularly liked the section that discusses health conditions for which CBD can be used. here has been some research on its use and the author gives a summary both of some of that research as well as her use with patients in her own medical practice. Since CBD is a new and relatively expensive product, the section in the book that discusses how it is made and how to shop for quality is especially useful. The recipes included also look very useful for someone who is interested in consuming CBD regularly. I definitely recommend this book for someone who is interested in taking CBD for their health. The cost of this book could easily be gained by avoiding purchase of an inferior CBD oil supplement.
I received a complementary copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an unbiased review.
This book is not about why you should use marijuana or CBD oil but provides all the facts you need to make an informed decision about the use of CBD oil. It explains the difference between CBD oil and Hemp oil, marijuana and CBD oil, and types of oil.
It discussed the many health benefits of CBD oil but takes it one step further and describes which type works best for a particular symptom or disease (e.g. arthritis, stress, depression, etc.).
I found this book to contain enough facts to understand CBD oil and it’s uses. It does not overwhelm you with information that is confusing and unnecessary. There are diagrams and photos to assist with making this an effective read.
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to learn more about this substance exploding though out the country.
I received an eBook ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion. That, in no way, affected by opinion or ratings for this book.
I was really impressed by the breakdown throughout the beginning half of this book about, which offered a lot of important information about 1) the differences between THC and CBD, 2) the different conditions most helped by CBD and 3) the different ways to take CBD in. I also liked that included were straightforward answers to questions about who should and shouldn't use CBD.
The second half of the book is a great "cookbook" (it didn't just include food recipes, but also topical recipes). A lot of different things to try, but also a guide so you can keep track of what you have tried in the past, so that you know for the future what works best for you. Sometimes (at least with THC) it's a little difficult after the fact to remember all the details of what you did so that next time you know what you should try.
Dr Rachna Patel has written a very informative book on the use of CBD oil.The book is well organized and easy to understand. Patient testimonials are provided for various medical conditions where CBD oils were found effective. The book covers topics such as how to read a product label, how to use the oils in recipes to make teas, ice-pops,lattes, and lip balms just to name a few, and the different methods that CBD oils can be ingested for example through vaporizing, foods, and topical applications. If you are looking for a book that explains what CBD is and how to use it, and how to read a product label and be an informed consumer in easy to read language, this is the book for you! Thank you to The DK Publicity Team and Netgalley for providing an ARC of this book for me to review.
I've been curious about the benefits of CBD oil but wasn't sure where to look for reliable information. This book provided a perfect introduction to the subject and was informative and well written. It provided enough technical and scientific background for me to feel knowledgeable without being dry or boring and gave a great breakdown on conditions it treats, choosing the right product, and how to determine the correct dosage and application method. I would recommend this book to anyone who is curious about CBD oil.
I was very impressed with this book. It describes how CBD oil is made, the different types, and how it's processed. That is just the beginning. It tells you exactly what to look for on the labels, and where to buy it. I use CBD oil, and I learned a lot that my research didn't reveal. This is definitely for my library. It even include dosage, strength, and recipes for things like lip balm and many more. Anyone that experiences chronic pain should definitely buy this book. It's a great alternative to pain meds or marijuana.
Thank you to NetGalley and DK Publishing for an advance read of this title. I'm not well versed in CBD, but know a bit about it. I would classify this book as a simple read for the a beginner into this research. It's written as an easy read, and the format is full of photos, inserted boxes, etc. The information is explained for the lay person, and you would have no trouble understanding it. If you are looking for a detailed guide, this might not be the book for you, but it's a great start.
An educational and well documented book about Cannabis Oil. The author is an experimented physician who teaches her patients to use this elixir of oils. She presents some scientific facts about Cannabis in general. And, she shares an extensive selection of recipes including beauty products, homeopathic treatments and more.
This is a handy guide to how to use CBD oil effectively. If you suffer from nerve pain, anxiety, insomnia, arthritis, or any number of other ailments, this book is the perfect guide for you. Contains many recipes also.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is great book if you know nothing about CBD, essential oils, or how they are made. I also enjoyed the sections with recipes to be able to use CBD oil, I will have to try the headache pastiches. I appreciated the graphs and charts, but the Adobe reader version is hard to use. It’s very informative. Will purchase for the library and possible for myself as well.
Curious about CBD oil? READ THIS BOOK! I did exhaustive on-line research about CBD before jumping onto the wagon. After using what the sales person and my personal research agreed upon without good results, I was thrilled to be given the chance to read this informative book! Cut down on all the noise and read this book. This book put me in the right direction and now I swear by CBD oil!
Essential oils are all the rage now. Rachna Patel has put into print how to use , make and the healing powers of these oils. Great reference book for those beginning and those currently using oils in their everyday lives. Loved it.
