Target Exclusive DC Primal Age 100 page comic! To celebrate the new line of DC Primal Age toys, this comic is released only in Target stores. DC's Heroes as you've never seen them before!
Marvin A. "Marv" Wolfman is an award-winning American comic book writer. He is best known for lengthy runs on The Tomb of Dracula, creating Blade for Marvel Comics, and The New Teen Titans for DC Comics.
This was a 100-Page one-shot created specifically for the toyline of the same name. The stories are pretty basic and exist solely to showcase the designs of the figures.
Each chapter is penned by a different writer and artist and abruptly ends, which I like to think was done on purpose, for the kids or adults who buy the figures to come up with the endings themselves during "playtime" or whatever you would like to call it. I'm a toy collector, so I mean no disrespect!
Would recommend to fans of He-Man or DC Elseworlds tales.
I picked this book up at Target, as it is currently exclusively available there. They have a whole line of toys to go with this comic book which is basically an Elseworld comic set in a universe where the DC characters are re-imagined as if they existed in a place similar to He-Man's realm. The characters all have the same names as their classic counterparts, but their character designs are very reminiscent of "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe."
This collection has 6 all-new stories featuring:
-The Justice League vs. a group of united villains (by Marv Wolfman) -Wonder Woman vs. Solomon Grundy (by Jerry Ordway) -Mr. Freeze vs. a dragon (by Louise Simonson) -Batman (by Louise Simonson) -Joker (by Jerry Ordway) -Superman (by Marv Wolfman)
It's OK. My son got it from hire grandma for Christmas and we read it together. The stories don't have an ending and leave you worrying if there is more. I agree with one review that there are a lot of women missing. Would have liked to see Harley Quinn or Catwoman or even Poison Ivy. Still an interesting collecting of short stories.
My only comments are that I wish this would have been longer, had more of Wonder Woman or even better, more super-women AT ALL, and that there would have been more sketches and "behind the scenes" pages.
Quisieron hacer un comic del Universo DC en versión MOTU para vender su línea de muñecos y les salió bien. Reinterpretaciones divertidas y con "final abierto" con unos dibujantes de gran nivel.
