Bob Ross paints a stunning home for his squirrel friend, Peapod, in this delightful nod to a painter icon.
This is the sweet story of a painter (Bob Ross) who helps his squirrel friend, Peapod, find the perfect home to live in. Bob paints an actual Ross painting, "Meadow Lake," in this charming tale about helping friends and embracing the serenity of life. Bob, along with Peapod, go through the various steps and processes to painting, including praising those "happy little accidents" that happen along the way.
Bob is helping his friend Peapod find the ideal place to live - and if he needs to paint it then all the better! Simple message that packs lots of positive vibes in a small book! I have really come to appreciate Bob Ross; he has such a laid back quality to the way he approaches problems. A fun story that has a deeper message.
Bob Ross! I love him! Have loved him since I discovered him as a teenager.
The book didn't completely fascinate me. I'm not sure a child would appreciate this. Definitely for Bob Ross fans, as we see those happy accidents turn into a beautiful Bob creation. It gets three stars because I'm just happy to see Bob on anything.
Join Bob Ross and his friend, Peapod the Squirrel as they paint a beautiful landscape! Relish in the mountains and woodland landscape for Peapod. Don't forget the happy clouds and that there are such things as happy accidents.
Bob Ross's artwork comes alive with Jason Kayser's illustrated version of a Meadows Art from Bob Ross. There's even a guide on the supplies and ideas to paint the very same scene at the back.
Inspirational, heartfelt and 5 Star Illustration and dialogue by Robb Pearlman
This book is part illustration and part Bob Ross painting! In this book, Bob paints a landscape for his friend Peapod the Squirrel. The story is delightful and the progression of the painting is as amazing as you remember from watching Bob Ross. My daughter loves to see everything come together and is awed by how well the painting works, like magic. If you love a quirky book that is a great homage to a painting legend, then don't miss out on this one!
I love Bob Ross and had high hopes for this book, but it is just sort of silly. It is sort of interesting to watch the Bob Ross painting used for a background image evolve from page to page, but the characters trampling over it kept blocking the view.
Bob Ross’s canvas is used to create a new home for Peapod the Squirrel. The entire book is delightful. Almost like an episode of The Joy of Painting. The best part is that there is a list of the materials needed to replicate Ross’s masterpiece!
After doing a brief presentation on the life of artist Bob Ross, I read this story to the children in our program. This book is a great way of breaking down and simplifying the teaching style and art technique that Bob Ross is known for. The children were able to make their own landscapes and "happy little accidents" with happy clouds and trees after listening to me read this.
I simply love Bob Ross! He truly was an American treasure! I stumbled upon this little gem at work and had to own it. What a cute story. It reads like an episode of his painting shows and is just fun. I can't wait to share it with the kiddos in my life.
For $9.99 on Kindle, these kid books can seem a bit expensive but I do like this one. I adore Bob Ross even if it’s only his painting. The words worked well though too; they were very him.
Peapod the Squirrel needs a home so Bob Ross decides to paint him one. He gives readers tips as he paints so they can paint a similar squirrel home.
I had no idea what to expect from this, but it was delightful. They took one of Bob Ross's old paintings and explained the construction as if it was being made for a squirrel friend. Peapod creates some mayhem along the way and Bob rolls with the "happy little accidents" to create something new. Some painting tools and methods of mixing/layering colors are briefly touched on. This could whet the appetite for budding painters, and even if readers don't have a lick of artistic talent, it is a fun story.
This is a cute book that incorporates a real Bob Ross painting into the background. I enjoyed seeing it develop across the spreads. Including Peapod was a fun was to share his love for animals and his desire to protect them. I would have liked to have seen a bit more drive to the story as well as something to make him seem more 3 dimensional and vibrant (since he is such a gentle force on his show). Loved the back matter that shared materials needed to make the same painting. Overall, a quick, sweet read with lovely art.
After reading another book in this series I'm curious on why these two were completely different from each other. This one is about Ross creating one of his actual paintings for his squirrel friend to live in. There's no story here just the steps he Ross used to create the painting as it goes a long. At the very end it actually tells you how to paint the painting if you wanted to. This is written for very young readers and I don't see them painting a Bob Ross painting. I don't know a kid who will like this book but it's Boss Ross so it won't matter because it will still sell.
What a wonderful and unique children's book for all ages! Kudos to Robb Pearlman for the oh so cute story and endearing words and Kudos to Bob Ross and Jason Kayser for the beautiful illustrations. I especially love that not only is the story an art tutorial but at the end Bob tells you exactly what you need to paint the picture in the story, from paint colors to brushes to canvases. Thank you so much for the wonderful book and art lesson!!
Very cute tribute to Bob Ross and Peapod! Ross paints one of his paintings for his squirrel to live in and Peapod helps. There is a page at the end that tells you what you’d need to make the same painting. It also talks about different colors and how they mix in the painting and using different tools for painting. It even uses some of Ross’s famous quotes!
Bob Ross paints a place for his squirrel friend to live. My boy didn’t really appreciate what was going on, but liked the pictures. This one is more for adults, really. I liked that there was a “mistake” to fix.
Perfectly Bob Ross! It has his happy little sayings and is beautifully illustrated as you’d expect. Happy little clouds float around all day while Peabod the squirrel helps Bob paint him a new home. A wonderful little gem of a book.
