Thank you netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book!
I have been bullet journalling for about a year now, but am always interested in looking at new inspiration and ideas. This book had useful and practical spreads for studying. It was split into different sections, and showed how you could use your bullet journalling for each specific subject.
I got some new ideas from this, but found myself skipping over the majority of the text included. I have looked at Jasmine Shao's instagram page (@studyquill), and I think I got about the same information from scrolling through her feed as flipping through this book.
Overall, if you are looking to start a bullet journal, this may be useful to you- but I think much of the same content is available for free online.
It's no secret that I continuously try and fail at bullet journaling. I keep trying ways and spreads and all these things that I just don't seem to keep up with. I've tried the artsy way, with spreads with themes and color, I tried the minimalistic way, where I just kept lists and that seemed to work pretty good until it didn't. So I'm always up for trying something new when it comes to bujoing, because I know how much I get done and how much better I feel in the moments when I'm successful with it. Study with Me is amazing. It gives a great introduction to bullet journal, but it keeps it's focus on offering ideas for spreads and techniques that you can customize to suit your needs. While it's primarily aimed at students, it's already given me ideas on things I can try to finally tackle time management, something I've been struggling with as of late, and with that it's inspired me to give bujo another go. It also tackles beautifying your spreads, giving great advice on it. I think it's a great book to have as reference if you bullet journal, and especially if you're a student who bullet journals.

As a homeschooling mom who regularly does bullet journaling, I was excited to read this book. I really enjoyed parts of it, such as the examples of how the authors used bullet journaling in each college subject (trigonometry to French and much more). There's also great beginner information on how to set up a bujo and how not to overwhelm yourself, how to fix mistakes, etc. I also liked the tips on how to make great fonts, doodles, etc.
I REALLY wish there had been more pages of examples and sample layouts though. Each subject had one example page but I would have loved to have most of the book be that sort of content -- lots of examples of spreads to use for science, math, writing, etc. I also didn't see any pages of spreads to show things like tracking, which I do often (for instance, here are a couple of fun trackers I made for homeschool tracking: https://www.instagram.com/p/BeeAKcNnccb/ and https://www.instagram.com/p/BeYzugZDC8G/). I love seeing example pages that are very artistic and creative, and would have loved some more inspiration in that way.
All that said, this is a great tool for teens, college students, homeschoolers and more.
I read a temporary digital ARC for the purpose of review.
I've been a huge fan and participant for years and years of this niche Tumblr group that's expanded to Instagram and Youtube since the early years of Tumblr's downfall. The niche is called "studyblr" or "studygram" it's pretty much just posting aesthetic pictures of pretty notes, desks, and stationery. It sounds strange, but it's a source of academic motivation for many Gen Z kids. From what I've seen, it also seems to be the source of the popularization of bullet journals, which people may be more familiar with.
I don't want to give this a star rating, because people interpret star ratings as the measure of the book's quality. As far as quality is concerned, it would be 4 - 5 stars, as the author @studyquill/Jasmine and her co-author put a good deal of work and thought into this. If I were to give a star rating based on its value to me, personally, I would give it a 1.
This is a book for people (mostly teens) to learn about bullet journaling and use it for school. It's meant for novices who know very little about it. It's almost a simplified version of Ryder Caroll's guide to bullet journaling. It provides nothing for those who already bullet journal and are looking to improve their system, layouts, or productivity. Essentially, for those who are already fans of studyquill, reading this book will just summarize all the content they've seen from her and other creators.
For these reasons, this book was a let down. However, it is extremely impressive that at her age, studyquill has turned her hobby into a source of income and has published a book about it. Props to her.
I got a copy from NetGalley and I'm so thankful. I had a really long time a studygram, so I really wanted to read this book, because I loved the instagram accounts off the writers. This book is full of great tips for your bullet journal. You have different pages full of tips to help you study, but you have also pages for planning your work and tasks. Do you want to start a reading journal? Read this book, because there is a page full of tips for a reading journal. I loved this book and I really want to start a bullet journal right now.
Study With Me is a short, fun, informative book about bullet journalling, study techniques, etc. It’s full is great tips and information relating to bullet journalling (and tons of ideas for headers, lettering, etc!) as well as subject specific study guides/suggestions; I’ve never seen any book which had so many sections dedicated to different kinds of subjects! I highly recommend getting a copy, and to top it off it’s written by two amazing and inspirational teenagers.
~I received a copy from NetGalley and willingly reviewed it~
I've followed Jasmine on youtube and Instagram for years now, and I'm so proud of her for coming this far and having the opportunity to make such an inspiring and motivational book for her following and the world. I heavily enjoyed this as someone who has been apart of the study and bujo community for many years and I know I will continue to look back on it for tips and tricks as well as suggest it to all my friends.
First and foremost, thank you to Jasmine for sending me a complimentary copy of "Study With Me," which I recently received in the mail! When I first got the book I read through it in its entirety, but didn't have a goodreads account silly me!
As of writing this review, I have gone through the book yet again and have confirmed what I knew to be true: This book is a fantastic introduction for any aspiring bullet-journaler, a knowledgeable resource for students looking for better organization and study habits, and a planner's dream come true.
I have tried bullet journaling to a limited extent on my own, but this book provides all the food for thought and guidelines for getting creative with my organization that I'd previously lacked.
It contains a plethora of information on every high school subject under the sun and scales up nicely to broader areas of study for those who are working on college classes or personal projects. I was especially surprised by the inclusion of goal setting and food tracking tips which are equally well thought out. I personally found the variety of planner ideas most helpful and have enjoyed taking inspiration from the many spread ideas laid out in this book.
My only criticism is that the book starts off very generally. I feel I would have appreciated additional clarifications or recommendations on specific materials to get started (i.e. what is an A5 sized notebook?). However, I also understand much of this is left general to encourage readers to find whatever suits them best through personal experimentation. The book picks up fast once you get into Jasmine's specific recommendations which are each insightful and well researched.
All in all, the book is full of creative ideas that I look forward to implementing in my own bullet journaling. I definitely recommend going out and getting the book if any of the above sounds applicable. It was a joy to read.
I give it the best 4.75 I possibly can. Hence, 5 stars.
The best thing about this book is the inspiration to use bullet journal type colors and drawings as part of studying - the idea behind this book is fantastic. Unfortunately for me, the book did not really deliver up to the promise -- the various sections trying to show how to use this to study specific subjects were generally too high level and generic and the non-specific subject sections often showed signs of promise with some good tips and ideas but did not really deliver much more than a more typical bullet journal tutorial.
I love Jasmine's bullet journals not just because they can be really pretty. My favorite things about her style is that 1) she has great set ups for students and 2) no matter how fancy her designs are, the spreads are still very PRACTICAL. I've seen a lot of bullet journal inspirational videos, pins, books, etc. that are very artsy but become a lot of work without much logical use. Jasmine's journals really show organization, prioritization, time management, and all those other executive functions I struggle with.
I highly recommend this book and Jasmine's youtube channel, StudyQuill.
I can’t believe how much I have loved this book and how it has helped me.
I think all we should read this book, not only students.
Moreover, I have found lots of tips to apply for my lifestyle like: organize my schedule, how to be more productive, take notes for different subjects...
I’m positive on September I’m reading it to my business classes.
This book was as advertised, and I mean that in a good way. It was easy to follow, a breeze to read, and fun. I love how it's broken down into different subject matters.
Even though I'm not currently a student, I still found the foreign language part helpful, because I'm trying to learn other languages. Whenever I see beautiful bullet journals on Instagram, I'm mystified as to how people even start, because there are so many different techniques, ideas, and ways. But it's broken down very simply in this book, and while it uses mainly the classic bullet journal techniques, a point was made about making it unique to the user.
I honestly sped through this book and finished it in one sitting, which was partially because it had illustrations, but also because the flow of the book was great. The only thing I'd say is I'd even want a longer book, with more examples and drawings, but that could be a personal thing. I think this is probably plenty of content for most people. I'm really into journalling and looking at journals. It's a great book, and I love how it brought a behind-the-scenes look at how the #studygram influencers work their magic.
Review copy provided by the publisher, via NetGalley. • So I don't usually read non-fiction but when I saw this on NetGalley I had to ask for it because I'm all about stationary, bullet-journaling and lists! Not so much about the study part haha This book has all the basics to start your journal including the stationary you should get, the fonts you can use, the layouts and more. I'm a perfectionist and this book gave me some amazing tips to correct my mistakes and not ruin or abandon my journal in the process. With all that, I do think that there are many parts that I could've found on pinterest or that could've been more visual but I also see the advantage of having it all in one place. This book is out next Tuesday (October 8th!) so be sure to check it out if you journal! • I can see how bullet journaling is a hard topic to write about and I appreciate the authors tips and ideas, thank you for the opportunity!
This is a good book. It’s perfect for students and I’m not a student. While it’s good, I expected it to be jam packed with more bullet journaling guidelines but Majority of the book focuses on bullet journaling in specific academic subjects. As such I highly recommend it for students.
Where was this when I was in school?! My teenager would absolutely benefit from this step by step how to for studying and organizing a bujo (bullet journal). Each subject has clear and precise diagrams, lists, notes, etc and this is a great tool for a year (or more) in school.
Boost your grades and dive into a new artistic territory of study aids.
I had heard of bullet journaling but never knew what it was. The book's creators talk you through creating a bullet journal and is filled with drawn images to get your creative juices flowing. It's goes over everything you need to use journaling to manage your school and social life. I came away truly understanding bullet journaling and why it's so useful. Overall, this isn't my thing; there were sections that II would use, The issue on health is something I will be taking to my own journal. But just because I'm not a bullet journalist doesn't mean other won't be and I would recommend this book to anyone interested in getting started.
This is really nice book because I have been following Alyssa jagan on YouTube for a quite long time and I like her tips so when I saw this cute book I knew I wanted to read this . This book has lot of tips about bullet journaling , brainstorming and other things . It's good for high schooler and middle schooler.
I first picked up the book from Netgalley after wishing for it - and it actually got accepted.
I went into this book thinking I'd learn nothing new. I already knew a lot about bullet journalling and just wanted to support one of my favourite studytubers, Studyquill, who is one of the authors.
However, I was able to learn so much about bullet journalling as well as ways to apply the journal to my studies using spreads I'd never seen before! As a university student in the UK, some of the spreads weren't very useful to me, but the best thing was that the way it was written and carefully explained made it really easy for me to apply it to my own studies. I kind of wish that I'd read this when I was back in school, because I found the chemistry and biology tips so useful.
The layout is really clean, and it's really bright and colourful. One thing I really loved was how the authors spoke really inclusively about paper sizes. For example, the size A6 had the centimetre and inch measurements beside it in brackets so everyone could understand the paper size. Little things like this really stood out to me in the book, giving me a better reading experience.
I’ve always doubted whether to start a bullet journal or not. Knowing I’m not as consequent in keeping up with journals, I never really tried using a bullet journal. But after reading this book, I immediately bought myself a bullet journal and some good pens. I flagged so many pages to go back to while filling in my bullet journal, as they provide a lot of good and fun tips. This book has taught me new ways of planning and taking notes, it was really useful and also a fun read!
This was a book about organizing your life using the bullet journal method. For a student new to bullet-journaling, this book could be very useful and informative as it contained a lot of ideas for using a journal to record, practise and organize various study subjects.
I really enjoyed this book! I have a bullet journal that I use every day and this book had a lot of really wonderful suggestions. It is definitely tailored to people in school but it has a lot of good ideas in it for regular bullet journals also. I would definitely recommend this to someone interested in bullet journaling or who already bullet journals. I think that this book would be really beneficial to beginners.
I RECEIVED A GALLEY OF THIS BOOK THROUGH NETGALLEY.
I have been following Jasmine Shao on YouTube for a while now and have been excited to read this book ever since she announced it. Sadly, this book didn't really do much for me as I'm a university student and have been watching studytube since high school. I have figured out my planning and studying routine for the most part but I think this would be really helpful for freshmans in high school. I remember feeling very overwhelmed when I first entered high school and didn't really know what to do and how to do those things most productively and in that time I first discovered the bullet journal and studying community on YouTube and it was very, very helpful for me at the time. I think this is a great summary and introduction to all the things that are out there and would be a great introduction to the community for a struggling freshman, and that's why I still gave this a high rating. This book is very understandable and gives a lot of examples. It also just gives a lot of different tips for each subject and most tips are also applicable to more than one course. It also encourages you to go and find what works best for you and to keep adapting until it works perfectly for you. I also really liked the fact that the two authors encouraged the reader a lot to get help from teachers if they're really stuck on things. It's just a guide by teens for teens and never looks down upon them and that's mainly why I highly recommend this book for every struggling teen.
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing for an Advance Readers Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
Study with Me provides an overview of the Bullet Journal process that is appropriate for beginners or as a refresher course for those who are already familiar with the topic. Then, the authors show students how to apply these techniques specifically to scheduling school-related tasks and events, setting goals both for their education and personally, and taking thorough notes for their various classes. This book is filled with plenty of examples and illustrations so that the student will feel confident in creating their own bullet journal and putting it to good use right away.
I got a copy of this graphic novel through NetGalley. All opinions are my own
I enjoyed this bullet journal guide. I've been following Jasmine (studyquill) for a few months and I've always enjoyed her videos and stuff. It's great to see that she has come up with a book about bullet journaling. I believe this book is perfect for students (high school or college) because it gives such amazing tips on how to organize your journal and keep track of everything in your life. I would highly recommend it. I wish I had discovered bullet journaling when I was still in school/university.
I received a digital copy as an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
If you are new to bullet journaling and want to start, this book is perfect for you! You will learn how to draw a calendar or a to-do list that suits your needs, whether it's for school, gym schedule, or reading list - this book is here to help.
This is a great little book about how to get started with bullet journaling, whether for school, organization, goals, or just keeping track of life. The authors are teens, so I am looking forward to sharing it my students of a similar age as not only a how-to but also an encouragement to put their own hobbies and talents out there.
A good introduction to bullet journaling for those who want to use it as a studying tool or integrating it in planning and school. The reader learns the basics of bullet journaling and some examples for a few classes one may be involved in.
