Wow 🤯 ‼️My goodness that Blake family is/was a complex & complicated crew 🥴😮😬😮💨🤔🤭‼️Know wonder so many members are in extensive therapy. …Nevertheless, “Something Blue? Something New? (Something About Love Series - Book 3) was emotionally challenging, but a fantastic read nonetheless. Poor Calvin, as the oldest sibling he was neglected by his parents. .. He just needed the love, affirmation & nurturing from his mother foremost and anything from his emasculated father. Irregardless, of their teenage recklessness, they still had five children. Why continue to compound their problem with additional problems..ushering in generational co-dependencies/ (traumas, insecurities, emotional etc.)🥴⁉️ Meanwhile, apparently all five of the Blake siblings which are now adults suffer from the adverse effects of neglect, emotionally detached and are functionally dysfunctional thank to Mr & Mrs B 🙄. Consequently, Janae was the light & stabilty Calvin so desperately needed. Likewise, Janae needed to be appreciated, valued and adored as a woman. As a couple, Janae & Calvin are perfectly imperfect 🥰‼️
Calvin had been that character in the first two books of this series that had me wondering…why is here😅 Then in book two he expressed an interest in Janae and I said to myself..”I can’t even see this working out🙃. As I started reading this Book I kept shaking my head , and found myself saying Calvin, Calvin, Calvin🤦🏽♀️❤️. I enjoyed each book in this series but I have to admit Book 3 is my favorite. Calvin and Janae had some really big obstacles to face and every time it seemed they had conquered one another would pop up. I won’t even try to explain plain the unexpected twist that popped up during the finale few chapters because it was way deeper and close to art imitating life than I would have imagined. ❤️☺️. The epilogue made me smile and tied everything up with a clear explanation of where the lives of these three best friends, Dawn,Tori, and Janae were headed. ❤️
Wow. Just wow. Calvin and Janae had my emotions all over the place. This story was very well written I liked the angle that itbtook reflecting on depression and emotional issues from the msle point of view.In the midst of trying to overcome his emotional issues Calvin meets Janae and falls hard for her fast. After lusting after Calvin from afar for two years Janae starts to date him. A jealous ex, nit wanting to let go, two secret adult daughters, a secret grandchild, parental issues all these elements make for a rocky road to happily ever after for Janae and Calvin .
Of the three books in the series this was by far my favorite. Well done Marlee, I look forward to reading your next book and all future books.
I give the entire series 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟, a 👋, and a double👏👏.
The story was indeed something else. A nice flow and connection with the characters in the story. The hero had a lot of issues, and it was nice to see him grow and progress. The heroine helped him to be a better version of himself.
Loved this series by Marlee! I think I love Janae and Calvin the most. They didn’t have an easy love but they have a true and unconditional one. Shout out for mentioning some of my favorite Bailey West characters Averie and Samuel!
The chemistry between these two was everything. Calvin and Janae had the chemistry from the very beginning. Calvin had a lot of issues but he was working on himself. Janae had some baggage also. I'm so glad that they found each other.
Look go cop this book. A MUST READ!!! From page one,it was go time. Now if you read the other two. Your up on all the players. But for me,THIS BOOK THE BEST!!!! GIRL,i love it and the wrap up kool to.
Calvin was too messed up and insecure. Thank goodness Janae had herself together. I would have left that needy mess alone. I surprised he got as far as he did!
I enjoyed Calvin and Janae story and it's was good to see Dawn and Tori again. I was glad Calvin was able to heal from past trauma and Janae provided that help.
Ahhh, a great example for men who are critical/insecure/condecsending of accomplished women. “I learned a long time ago that I needed to be a supportive husband or else I’d get left behind. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t easy, and I still struggle with it at times. But for the most part, I’m here to support her the same way she supports me. If you want a powerful woman you better learn how to step to the sidelines when necessary and let her shine. If not, it’s not going to work.”
Calvin is in the process of unraveling his psychological and emotional issues while falling in love with a woman who seems to have all her shit together. She's had supportive, loving parents but his have been cold and aloof all his life. Of course they manage to navigate and negotiate to get to their HEA.
You did it again Marlee Rae! I was not able to put the book down and completed it in less than a day. Thanks for showing that therapy is a good thing and introducing me to the Bailey West characters. anxiously waiting for the next book.
