After 10,000 years, the Urlowens have returned... Earth has fallen... Hope is sleeping...
The Urlowens eradicated the Elven population on Earth. Now they’ve returned to subdue the human race.
While Ethan scrambles to help a crumbling resistance and cultivate a relationship with his childhood crush, he’s plagued by unexplainable premonitions leading to an ancient stasis chamber and a discovery beyond his wildest dreams—the last Earthborn Elven warrior. Ethan must adapt to his new understanding of the world and of his enemies. Magic is real.
But even with help, is defeat inevitable? After all, it’s not the first time the Urlowens have visited Earth.
Earthborn Awakening is the first book in the Earthborn Legacy series. If you like magic, advanced technology, page-turning suspense, fast-paced action, and romance, then this book is for you. Get ready to read late into the night because you won’t be able to put this story down.
Matthew S. DeVore is the author of the Earthborn Legacy series. He loves writing stories where science fiction and fantasy intertwine. He’s a fan of shadowy characters with hidden motives and epic heroes with personal flaws. Science has a special place in his life, as he holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Kansas. Rock Chalk! He lives in the Midwest with his wife, daughter, and two dogs.
One could say it is written in the European style, a slow plot, slowly building. One could just say that the writer took the long way around and made the story a lot less exciting and interesting.
The plot and the characters were okay. The way some characters always have all of the answers didn't really help...
Not a horrible book, but an incredibly slow moving one.
This story has the perfect blend of science fiction and magic. High tech gadgets meet classic elven magic to produce an adventure I devoured to the end. The characters drew me in, endearing and intriguing protagonists and antagonists.
I recommend this to science fiction & fantasy fans everywhere.
This story was very disappointing. The summary was great, but the story needs a compete rewrite. The first 123 pages...could’ve been cut in half. It took way to long for Aleena (elf) to be reintroduced.
Also we have way too many different subplots going on that we lose connection to the characters. A very disjointed story that doesn’t really advance the plot that well.
The enemy agents are just psychotic killing machines that have fun blowing up hospitals. The resistance are idiots that simply tell the agents everything. Etc
It’s just that nothing flows well and the story never truly gets started.
Pretty much nothing happens the entire book except for some enemy agents going around easily killing the resistance. The elf and the resistance don’t really make any progress and even towards the end the elf falls into despair that they will lose again.
Overall the prologue and summary were good, but nothing else was. Disappointing.
In Earthborn Awakening DeVore adds his own unique storytelling to the field of YA dystopian fiction. I loved the blend of sci-fi and fantasy set in Earth's not-to-distant future. The combination of elves, magic, and advanced science made for an action-packed read. Earthborn Alliance is already queued up and I am looking forward to a publication date for Earthborn Ascension. Matthew, thank you for bringing your vision to life through the Earthborn Legacy trilogy.
What a great new story love reading this book can't wait to crack open the next one
Really enjoyed this book the drama the tension the battles the character development it was all a lot of fun and it wasn't a rehash of somebody else's story it wasn't something that I knew how everything was going to turn out really enjoyed this going to be starting the next one in a few minutes
This is a good book. Loved the characters, story development and a few other parts of the story. I'll definitely be reading more from this author and cannot wait for the next book of this series to came out.
Like many series of the occupation of earth this adventure has many turns and twist. Like "Battlefield Earth" this book is just the beginning of a tail setting the stage for what's to come. Defiantly worth the time to read, hard to put down.
This book seemed to drag for me, the character from the opening flashback didn't show up until half way through. Interesting concept but I feel the plot could be a lot tighter, to really keep the story moving.
I am a great fan of sci-fi and when you add a little fantasy to it, WOW. The author's storyline was fast-paced and full of adventure. His characters where very believable and easy to identify with. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.
It’s a good story and it is very easy to connect with the characters but it took a while to get into it, a slow start. But I think the second book will be a lot more exciting
