Protecting Her was a second chance at romance kind of book. In it, you will meet Siena and Ivan. Now when they were in like high school, they both had a crush on one another. However, he was the jerky popular guy and she was the shy nerd. Cliché right?

Well, he asked her to prom one random day and she said yes. Unfortunately, he left her without a second glance or word spoken that night. Many years later.. they are reunited. One would think she's completely out for revenge.. but they actually start to develop their old feelings for one another. Some things go a bit crazy between them - sex crazy that is.

Betrayal and backstabbing aren't in this book. Even if they want you to think that. Might have to thank the wonderful and cute ass kid named Cora.. which means we should do a quick shout out to my man Ivan for creating such a wonderful kid. Even if the mom is a deadbeat.

The romance, and smut, were pretty good. I feel like I'm really getting picky on this shit now because I read so much smut! I guess I'd have to thank my twin for this shit as well.. but eh, she doesn't need the thanks does she?

Overall, it was a pretty quick book to dive into. The drama was meh but the ending was predictable and cute.

This story is about Ivan and Siena. Siena is a journalist working on a story about top ski resorts, but no one in her group is able to get any information on a specific ski resort that was so popular at one time, that she is asked by her boss to go get the story herself. She does just that but doesn't know that the owner to this ski resort is none other than her high school crush. Ivan is working to get this grandfather's original ski resort back to par as his own father ran it to the ground, but in order to do this, he needs investors. He also has a daughter that plays along with anything given to her. Once he sees Siena, the old feelings he had on her come back along with having to give her an apology for something that he did back when they were in high school. Siena forgives him and actually helps him out with the investors, but there is more to this that you may think.

Overall the book was good, but the title was a bit confusing I went in thinking that Siena was the damsel in distress but in reality, it seems she was the protector. Could have used an epilogue to this story, but it does have a happily ever after. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Nice romance. I loved the story and I recommend it.


Ivan has been fighting for years to save the family business. He can't let it sink, for his daughter.

Siena wants to succeed in her job. Doing a report on a ski resort was not part of her plans, but she has no choice but to do it.

Neither expected to cross paths with the other after their abrupt separation years ago.

I love Ivan. He fights for his business. Not for him, but for his daughter, to give her the best life possible, and also for his grandfather, because he doesn't want to lose everything he built. It hurts him to have to fire his workers. He fails them when he leaves them without a job, and he fails himself not being able to protect them. He hates what his father has done, but takes care of him. He is a good man who is trying his best. He has missed Siena for years, blaming himself for not talking to her, for not clearing things up. He wanted to be with her, but it was impossible. He never wanted to hurt her.

Initially, I didn't like Siena that much. Ivan hurt her, and she decided she wanted revenge. I don't like her lying to him. If she had told him the truth, they probably wouldn't have gotten that close. But she would have been sincere, as he was. He approached her as he had not done with anyone, opened his heart, and she lied to him, while he thought she was the most sincere person he knew. She would have hurt him by telling him the truth, but he would have respected her.

I like Robert. He made a mistake in his decisions. He hurt a lot of people, including his son, but he feels guilty about it.

The storyline and premise of this book is actually quite good (slight spoiler ahead). There's not too many of us who would love to be able to gain closure or give another try as adults with those we had connections and disagreements with as teenagers. We grow so much in 5-10 and 15years that there is no limit to how we can renew or release relationships that can enrich us or has caused us to be stagnant in regret or bitterness. This is a case of two young teenagers who connected emotionally before they had a chance to even really be introduced to each other. Due to circumstances beyond their control they meet again as adults but it's like those two teenagers are still standing there facing each other tentatively navigating what they feel but not really communicating what they feel. It was angsty, frustrating and heartrending but is anything worth having has got to be worth fighting for... right??? Take a drive down this path of redemption that has finally been traveled to reveal a bright new day!

Ms. Holly James has created a beautifully designed romance. Protecting Her stars two individuals that definitely have unfinished business and one adorable little girl, Cora. Siena was given a work assignment and sent to a ski resort. Easy, write a story on this resort but unbeknownst to her, Siena is about to come face-to-face with her old crush Ivan. Being that he is now the current owner, Siena will have to work with him directly while harboring a decades old pain. Can she forgive him? When Ivan locks eyes with her after all these years he not only needs her help but craves her forgiveness. Could this be his second chance at love with the woman of his dreams? Can this single Father save his business and get his happily ever after? Find out right here in this quick and beautifully crafted book.

Siena is given a chance to do a little bit of investigative journalism on a Ski Resort that no one had been able to get information on for the travel magazine she was working for.
Ivan was in Aspen at the resort she was checking out. What he didn't know was who the new and only guest that checked in. What a surprise it was for both he and Siena when he had to clean her chimney out. She assumed he worked there, in reality he owned the place.
I loved how she started out thinking she was going to be able to get revenge on the boy who broke her heart at the high school prom, when he left her on the dance floor and disappeared.
Things are not always what they may seem to be when you get a second chance to see the person years later. Their may have been an explanation for their actions.
I loved reading this book and was not able to put it down that I read it straight through. I highly recommend reading this book!

What a story this was, I enjoyed it so much Siena and Ivan where high school friends that really liked each other but never spoke to one another until he asked her to the prom and Siena agreed but her happiness was short lived because Ivan was leaving for Switzerland later that evening but nobody knew any of this not even Siena, hurt and embarrassed about being left at the prom Siena made the best of it but her heart was breaking. Now 10yrs later they meet again but this time Siena is on the job as a journalist looking for answers to why the ski resort Salthill Peak was in trouble and had lost customers because none of her staff could get answers so that’s what brings them together now. With feelings for each other still there can they make a go of it and how will Siena feel about his daughter Cora and how will her story unfold for her job. Read this amazing book to find out it all works out.

A fab read about Siena a journalist who visits a ski resort posing as a guest to find out about the owners and write an article about the resort , Ivan's families resort is struggling financially due to his father's behaviour , when he sets out to fix the fire for the new guest he's surprised to see it's Siena the girl he secretly loved in high school , will they get over the prom night incident and will he forgive her when he finds out she lied to him as to why she was at his resort , a fab read with a good storyline and great characters with drama , lies , chemistry , a little steam and don't forget his adorable daughter Cora , a must read

Ivan took Siena to prom when they were in high school but when she wanted a kiss from him he disappeared. Now years later sierra is working for a travel magazine and is at a ski resort to do an article. Ivan can't believe his eyes when he sees Siena its like no time has past. The attraction is still there and he enlists her for help when he needs to appear like a family man for some investors. Will Siena help Ivan despite their past? Will her work come between them?


This is a great story that will draw you in from the first page. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Great second chance

Siena & Ivan haven’t seen each other since prom night, when he left her there & disappeared. Years later as an investigative journalist she is at Salthill Peak resort to get the scoop on why they have been have struggling. She had no idea the owner is Ivan. She is also surprised that despite being angry at him for deserting her on prom night, she is still attracted to him. When she decides to help him secure fundings from investors, she has to figure out if she can give him another chance or continue getting inside information for her article. What happens when Ivan discovers what she’s been hiding? This was a sweet second chance romance.

Ivan and Siena are getting a second chance at a relationship after 10 years apart. Ivan is awed when he finds himself in the presence of the one person who has always held his heart. Siena doesn’t believe that the hot stud from high could have ever been in love with her and has not forgiven him for hurting her. Despite this their is a sizzling attraction between them that can’t be denied. Throw in a precocious 5 year girl and a grumpy old man and there is sure to be good times. It is a quick and dirty read that will leave you extremely satisfied.

Loved this new book from Holly, it's very well written Siena and Ivan meet while at high school each had a thing for each other but didn't act upon the desires that had. Went to prom together but then went their separate ways. 12 years later they meet again, him trying to save his family business and she a successful sub-editor for a travel magazine. Will they find their HEA or not this is a short book easy to read in a day, so go grab your copy today. I highly recommend this book.

Ivan and Sienna knew about each other in high school. Something happened and Ivan disappeared. Years later they get a second chance at romance. The both have secrets of their own. Now they have to learn to trust each other. The author does a good job with the characters in the book. The book has secrets, lies, betrayal, romance, and determined characters. It is a fast read that will have you hooked from the beginning.

Great second chance romance. Ivan has done a terrific job raising Cora (with help from a nanny), but Cora really takes to Siena. These are two hard-headed people, each thinking that their night together meant nothing to the other one. Thank goodness they came to their senses. They are so perfect for each other.

I enjoyed reading the love story about Ivan and Siena. It was great to see their love reunited after high school. In high school they didn't tell each other that they had feelings for each other. When they meet 10 years later they still find it hard to tell the other about their feels. But when they are separated for a short period of time they realize they can't live without the other. I do wish the story continued more.

I loved the story of Sienna and Todd. Storyline familiar about girl left behind in the dark and wanting a little revenge, but Ms Jaymes put a whole new wonderful spin to it. Ivan realky irritated me in his treatment if Sienna in the beginning though the more I read the more I fell in love with the story. I loved the grumpy old man and of course Cora. This was a very easy, quick and dirty read. Definitely recommendable.

A fantastic second chance romance with a pretend marriage to boot. This sweet short story includes hopes of revenge, miscommunication, drama, passion, and a little bit of heat with this engaging and exciting storyline keeping me on the edge of my seat. The characters were well developed and realistic moving quickly and smoothly to a HEA. I appreciate and thankful for being sent an extra extended epilogue it really wraps things up.

This unrequited lovers come enemies come to lovers book was very good. Siena had a grudge with Ivan from high school days but didn't know that he owned a ski resort but he was in strife. Siena went out of her way to help him, prompting them both to recognise old feelings. As always not a lot goes to plan. It was a fast paced story, which lead to a wonderful HEA.

This was the perfect one sitting read. However, I only gave it 4 stars for two reasons 1) the title is sort of misleading, but perhaps I’m nitpicking there. 2) no epilogue. I would have loved to read the reunion between sweet little Cora and Siena. Definitely a missed opportunity. I would also have liked to read a couple years down the road with the ski lodge turned around and perhaps a little baby for Siena and Ivan. But none the less I definitely recommend this book.

This is an amazing read – it is well-written, fast-pace, engaging, exciting, and easily read in one sitting. A steamy second chance romance that achieved its HEA in more ways than one and will definitely leave you wanting more; but just don’t take my word for it, read the book, I guarantee you will not be disappointed! Reading the blurb and the title I guess I was expecting Siena to be in some of trouble or in need of help. It was an enjoyable read though, I wished their story had more depth. I did not understand why she thought Ivan was mean to her at prom and that was still angry about it.
