Good Girl Next Door

Rate this book
He’ll teach her to be bad

The new girl next door? She’s adorable, but totally off-limits. I don’t do commitment—been there, done that, got the broken heart—and sweet-as-pie Becca is too close to girlfriend material.

But she asks me to help her find her naughty side, and I’m the perfect guy for the job. She wants to take some risks and face her fears, and I have all kinds of ideas. I just need to keep my d*ck—and my heart—out of it.

After all, we’re just two friends having fun. What could possibly go wrong?

Suddenly single, and on my own in a new town, I decide it’s time to stop being so predictable. I’m tired of being the good girl. And who better to help me out of my shell than my new neighbor, Lucas?

Sure, he’s sexy as sin. And as our adventures in naughtiness escalate, my lady parts are not complaining.

We agreed to stay just friends. We wouldn’t let this get complicated. But Lucas is kind of amazing. And the more time we spend together, the more my heart wants things he can’t give.

Sweet and endearing would be the words used to describe Becca, who's as wholesome as anyone could be. Always afraid to take risks and having protective parents have always overshadowed Becca's desire to live a little on the wild side. Being dumped by her boyfriend takes Becca on a self-discovery journey that Lucas plays a huge part in.

Moving away and living on her own is the first step Becca takes , and Lucas, as her caring neighbor, moves the transition along. An attraction was definitely there, and enlisting Lucas to help her break out of her shell and try new things leads to a friends with benefits package. Easier said than done, and all too soon emotions are involved that neither were ready for. Great tie-in with the exes that's jaw dropping but can two people who aren't looking or wanting a permanent relationship with each other willing to admit when they actually want more? While this installment wasn't as emotionally laden as the previous ones, it had believable characters and situations that anyone could relate to.

Amazing narrators! They both were perfect for the parts and really brought the characters to life. It has been a long time since I originally read this series, but the audible made it even better. The book is predictable and average feeling. No real substance.

This one was cute and pretty predictable, yet fun to read. About the only surprise was just who was at Becca's parents party, one person you knew would be there, the other a bit of a shocker.

I liked seeing Becca dirty herself up with Lucas's help, even though what they did was mild. I also like seeing Lucas see a woman as more, even if he did fight it for a bit.

Becca & Lucas

After her boyfriend breaks up with her, Becca decides to move to Jetty Beach to be closer to her best friend. She moves into her own apartment and meets the owner who happens to be Lucas. She met him a few months ago when she was on a girls weekend. She becomes really good friends with him and he starts having her do things she has always been afraid to do.

Lucas had a bad break up and swore never to get into another relationship. He helped Becca overcome a lot of her fears and without realizing it he was head over heels in love with her.
She finally told him she felt the same.

This series is one of the best I have read in a long time.

Cute, Fun, Flirty!

These two were exactly what each other needed to break the molds of who they had been.

Becca needed someone who hadn’t been part of her life before to extend the hand of adventure and lead her to the start of the path she knew she wanted to go down.

Lucas needed someone to show him without telling him that love was great and worth trying again.

Together they just clicked and found their way and it was so fun to experience with them!

I devoured this story and finished it in less than 24 hours!

This series is amazing and fun!

I thought this book was just okay. Becca was a very sweet young woman but she was also sort of immature in her inability to stand up to her overprotective helicopter parents. And just because she doesn’t swear or hasn’t ever gotten high doesn’t make her innocent. She seemed fairly normal for her age in terms of her sexual and drinking experiences. But I liked Becca. Lucas, not so much. The guy has one really bad relationship experience and he’s too scared to give love another try. So he spends his next several years having meaningless short term no strings flings. Yeah, that’s really mature. And cowardly. While I liked that he helped Becca get over some of her fears, teaching her to say fuck wasn’t one of them. Is it really so terrible that the woman didn’t swear? Also, even though he showed Becca what great sex was like. I thought he was really self-serving when he talked her into their “friends with benefits” relationship. How about you let the next guy that wants to be in a real relationship expand her sexual experiences?
Not a terrible book. Just IMHO maybe the weakest in this series.

Becca never believed in herself and always let everyone take care of her. Lucas gave up on love because his last girlfriend cheated on him. When Becca's boyfriend dumps her instead of proposing, she decides to live on her own in Jetty Beach. With the help of Lucas, she learns that she was always a strong person, she just needed someone to believe in her. The chemistry between these two characters was so strong. They fell hard for each other before they even realized it. This series keeps getting better and better. This was a great read that I highly recommend.

Lucas and Becca are perfect for each other. I love the reference to Sandy in Grease and The Princess Bride in this book. Their friendship starts our perfectly and I enjoyed seeing Becca face life head on, with the exception of spiders, of course. I mean, I would do the same thing if I had Lucas next door! Lucas doesn’t even realize what’s right in front of his face and heart. I enjoyed their adventures and cheered for Becca with each new thing she learned. I must say that Lucas did not disappoint! Heading off to the final Jetty Beach story. It’s going to be difficult when that one ends.

Becca’s boyfriend of four years breaks up with her and she decides she needs to be independent something she’s never been. She meets Lucas and they become friends and he helps her open up to new things. Lucas and Becca decide to be friends with benefits, but real feelings start. Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing Book.

I don’t always write reviews but this book really jumped out at me as a five star book. Normally books that are this short (~250 pages) don’t successfully create a storyline that has me so enraptured but this book really got me early on.

I knew where it was going to some degree but I still really really loved Lucas and Becca. Their love story was just really sweet and cute. This was the perfect book for me to pick up like right before bed or read on the beach quickly.

I’ve read a couple of these books in this jetty beach series and I think they’re all very good but this one was definitely my favorite.

2.5 / 5 ⭐⭐💫
2 / 5 🌶️
Spicy chapters: 14, 16, 18, 26, Epilogue

First Person, Dual POV

Lukas (MMC) and Becka (FMC)

Pros:
This is a short, low stakes, straightforward story that is well written 👌.

Cons:
The plot and overall storyline is full of clichés and is not the most interesting imo. It's about a way too innocent rich girl who falls for an emotionally unavailable man who is also a f*ckboy 🤨🤦🏼‍♀️.

If this story appeals to you, give it a try. But it definitely wasn't for me.

Happy reading! 📚

This wasn't really my jam. Yeah, the set up was fun, the good girl who needs her hot next door neighbour to help her learn to let loose. But the problem with all of that fun is that it left absolutely nothing for feelings. When she figured out she was in love with him I was like whu? Why? Maybe a few hundred more pages would have helped, pages with blooming feelings and scenes that showed them growing together as people? I don't know. I can only say it was really unsatisfying.

Awesome series

Lucas Lucas Lucas... You are too much! He knew that he could get Becca, but did he want her?

It was so great to read about their tales and off the wall things that Lucas gets Becca to do that are so out of character for her, but that's what she wanted. She needed someone to put some faith in her so she could do the same. Always been sheltered, so Becca realty had been living the life of what others expected of her, and not what she really wanted. That is until Lucas comes along.

Their story is so great, and it broke my heart a little, but it truly was perfect. I can't wait for Gabe's story.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Becca is so distraught that her boyfriend of four years was breaking up with her instead of proposing that she ended up throwing up on the tablecloth and all over her now ex-boyfriend. She realized she's never been on her own and she needed to be away from her parents who still treated her like a child. So she decides to move close to her friend, Juliet, in Jetty Beach. The first night in her new place her neighbor is having wall shaking sex. Like really loud...he has to know the walls are paper thin! Why is this kind of hot? Becca gets up in the morning to do a coffee run since she's not unpacked and remembers that her phone is still in the apartment. When she gets to the door she realizes her keys are in car....the locked car!

Lucas is leaving to pick up some groceries when he sees the girl next door sitting by her front door crying. When he realizes what's going on he invites her to wait at his place until locksmith arrives. He finally realizes where he's seen her before. At Finn's bar going on about her perfect boyfriend. When he says this out loud she bursts into tears and breaks down and tells him what happened. Lucas realizes that she's never used any swear words.. She is just so cute and innocent he wants to dirty her up.

Becca is tired of everyone calling her sweet. She feels like Sandy in Grease. Maybe she needs someone to help her find her naughty side. Who better than Lucas?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! It is hilarious and smoking hot 🔥! I love the characters. Becca who wants to overcome her fears (she has tons of them) and I love Lucas' sexy dirty humor and his determination to get Becca out of her secure box. And of course I love all the other people in Jetty Beach. Lucas reminds me of Gavin and Cooper -- humorous bad boy all the way.

Oh, Claire, you have done it again! Another swoon-worthy romance! Could Be The One is the second story in her Return To Jetty Beach series, and this book is about Finn and Juliet's friends, Lucas and Becca.

After getting dumped instead of engaged, Becca needs a change of scenery pronto and moves to Jetty Beach, where her bestie Juliet has relocated. Luckily for Becca, Finn's pal, Lucas, has a vacancy in the building he owns. They hit it off when they cross paths (again, having briefly met before), and strike up a friendship. When Becca decides it's time to lighten up her play-it-safe, good-girl, Sandy-from-Grease ways, Lucas is all too happy to oblige in corrupting her... and it doesn't take long before friendly adventures like karaoke and surfing become adventures of the friends-with-benefits sort.

Naturally, feelings get involved despite both agreeing that their sexcapades would come with no strings attached. I love the manwhore-falls-in-love-without-even-realizing-it trope, and Claire does it well. Lucas' determination to not let himself be vulnerable ever again is totally relatable, and I felt every ache and pain and awkward moment that Becca went through. I was so cheering for these two to work out their own issues and find their way back to each other! And the twist with Becca's ex-boyfriend? Didn't see that one coming!

UPDATE for AUDIO: Sebastian York and Ava Erickson are ON FIRE in this story! I coincidentally have listened to a few books in a row with this same pairing and I just adore the combination of SebYo and Ava. They each brought a very nuanced performance to Lucas and Becca’s story, and it was a delight listening to them!

Okay....so I know I sound like a broken record when I review a Claire Kingsley book but seriously this woman knows how to write romance. She has such a talented way of crafting her stories that you are instantly drawn into the story. The characters of likeable and these are really people you would want to be your friends in real life. The stories as sweet, romantic and steamy at the same time. Becca and Lucas' story is just about as perfect as you can get. It is a sweet unassuming journey toward a relationship I think we all want to have. Claire is one of my favorite authors in this genre and I never hesitate to read her books. I am never disappointed and frankly I struggle because I don't want to stop reading so I can find out what happens but I don't want to read too fast because I don't want the story to end. All of her books are keepers and stories that you were re-read because the underlying love story never gets old.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy provided to me by the author.

Becca and Lucas

I completely fell in love with this story! I was 50/50 on the original JB Series. I loved 2 books and 2 were just ok for me. But this new series and coming back to Jetty Beach has been amazing! I loved Finn and Juliet and didn't think it could get any better but Lucas and Becca really surprised me. I loved that they were friends first. Lucas has been burned before and is a classic "no relationships" guy. Becca has come out of a long relationship and is kind of the sweet play it safe girl. For the first time ever she's ready to take chances and be out on her own. Lucas and Becca are neighbors and quickly become friends. He gets her to cuss, walk across a suspension bridge while hiking, surf, and karaoke. She starts to have fun for the first time. I loved their friendship. It goes from neighbors, to friends, to best friends, to lovers. They are just a good cozy comfortable with each other. And the sexy times are off the charts! Whew! It was fun to read! I'm really excited for Gabe's story next!

Book six in the Jetty Beach series features Becca and Lucas and can be read as a stand alone. This book is written in 1st person with dual POV. I love the Jetty Beach setting and the characters who live there. This book is funny, steamy, and has all the feels with a sweet HEA.

I really enjoyed reading as Becca gained confidence in herself and explored life outside of the strict boundaries she has always lived within. Her break up with previous boyfriend, Brandon, will have to go down as one of my favorite break up scenes of all time. There is a scene with a spider that had me laughing so hard I cried, in part because the husband and I recently had a very similar scene happen in our own home not too long ago.

I loved Lucas and his adventurous nature. I really enjoyed how fast he fell for Becca, but was completely clueless about it. I really appreciated how much he believed in Becca from the beginning, even before he knew her well. I loved that he helped her push her limits.

Cannot recommend this series enough!!

Every book in this series is fantastic. Some have made me cry more than others lol, but they are all so good and each one is so different.

I absolutely loved Lucas and Becca. Lucas is not only hot but utterly hilarious. Becca—usually I don’t like goody two shoes heroines, but I just loved her. It was so easy to see why Lucas couldn’t stay away from her. They had a magnetic dynamic between them and it was addicting.

Of course I recommend this book, but I recommend you read all of them and start at the beginning. Even though they could be read as standalones, it’s just so much more satisfying to read them in order. You know the background couples and their stories which like I said are so good. Plus you are introduced to the upcoming couples and it sets up their upcoming stories.

I admit I’ve already finished the last book in this series which follows this one. It was fantastic. This is one of the best series I’ve ever read. Now I don’t know what to do with myself lol.

Every time I read one of Claire's books, I'm always convinced that it's my favorite of all but the thing is that she writes amazing books so it's quite difficult at this point to really decide which one is the best. The Jetty Beach series is adorable, the men are caring, loving and the women are different by character. I loved Becca since the first pages of the book because I recognized some of her traits in me. She actually lives her life on a safe path without stepping out of her comfort zone. Lucas, on the other hand, is her polar opposite that is he takes a lot of risks on his side but mostly he is very naughty. The match is perfect, the two blend together and soon their friendship becomes something more serious. Without giving away any further hints I can just say that I was overwhelmed with the entire plot so if you also want to take a ride on a rollercoaster and feel the thrill in your veins then go for it and read this fantastic book.

I've read every one of Claire Kingsley's books and continue to be pleasantly surprised at the unique storylines and depth of character development. The synopsis of Lucas and Becca's story didn't really "grab" me and make me want to jump into it, but once I started reading . . . I read through to the end! It was that good. Really, REALLY good. I may have said this about a few of the couples in her previous books, but I can honestly say Lucas and Becca are my favorites (so far!). I loved that Lucas didn't just support and encourage Becca to face her fears, he pushed her and walked right beside her as she did it. He wasn't afraid of her becoming a strong woman, he WANTED her to become a strong woman. They both became better versions of themselves thanks to the other. And good heavens, there was some steam! Amazing, incredible, fabulous steamy STEAM! I can honestly say I loved every single word of this story!

Claire Kingsley's Could Be the One is the second book in the Back to Jetty Beach series - Lucas and Becca's story. I fell in love with these characters in the first book of the series and couldn't wait to read Becca's story. In the first book, we learn that Becca is in a long-term relationship, not yet engaged. But circumstances change in Could Be the One and Becca's now single. Leaving everything, she moves to Jetty Beach to start fresh... and guess who her next door neighbor is - the one and only Lucas. Becca reaches out to Lucas to help her conquer her fears and step outside her comfort zone, which Lucas easily agrees to help with. However, how far will they go in this challenge?

This was an unbelievably fun and energetic read. Definitely a great series and I cannot get enough of this author!!

Becca has been with Brandon for 4 years when he ends the relationship unexpectedly. So packing her stuff she moves to jetty beach to an apartment next to Lucas, finns best friend juliets boyfriend. She confessed to Lucas she feels like she's the sandy from grease & wants to come out of her comfort zone he's more than happy to help it's only fun after all?

Okay, so the whole innocent girl thing wasn't my favorite. "Let me do the sexy things to you to give you more experience in life," Come ON! But I still probably liked this one best. They are pretty adorable as neighbors, and they do spend a long time getting to know each other.
