I decided it would be fun to read a book about television from a veteran general manager. I was fascinated by how many lessons have been applicable to my career as a radio manager. Maybe I should try TV next ?!?!?!

"Every consumer wants a trusted source. Becoming that source is a complex proposition because it means understanding the consumer, seeing the consumer's perspective, then filling those needs without pandering. Telling consumers some things they do not want to hear is a critical part of building the kind of brand that will become a trusted source." - Hank Price

I had to read this book for class, and will probably never become a general manager at a local TV station in the US (but I guess we can't say for sure!), but I thought that the general lessons that the book highlights about human relationships was informative. I learned a lot about leadership in general and skills to bring to any position, not just roles in television. It was written concisely and it was also VERY helpful that there was a summary and bullet point for the main take aways at the back of each chapter... wouldn't have been able to write a report on the book every week without these...
