For a hundred-thousand years, mankind has been afraid of the dark. They heard things in the black. Outside the range of their campfires, there was something hungry, something dangerous, yet something darkly intriguing. Most who wandered out, would never to be seen again, their foot prints in the dirt abruptly stopping. But then there was the few. Those singular individuals who returned, covered in blood or something more distasteful. In modern times, the darkness still exists and so do the things contained therein. And those few heroes can be also found, though they now know to be more secretive in their activities. General public wouldn’t understand. Best to allow them to live in the blessed fantasy of their daily lives. They don’t need to know about their husband was the last victim of a transdimensional shambler. They don’t need to know that the gang their cousin got involved in was the most recent iteration of the Esoteric Order of Dagon. And they really don’t want to know that the book club their great aunt Theadora’s involved in is studying an ancient book of spells, wrapped in more recently processed human flesh. They are the warriors, the scholars and the mystics; the heroes of the old ages, fighting a nightly battle against insurmountable forces of the Yogsothic pantheon. Sometimes it’s a cult filled with impressionable humans; sometimes its mutants and monsters, protean nightmares and impossible fiends. No matter the form, the purpose is the same; the end of humanity. The enslavement and destruction of every man, woman and child on this planet. To this age, a new generation is brought together to fight the good fight. If possible, the war is getting more fraught, more dangerous. There is an apprehension among the pantheon, an urgency to their plans, ploys and plots; a desperation pressing them to move harder, faster, to take more risks. ((Book #2, Tomes, Tumult & Trickery is available, with Book #3 & #4 expected at the end of 2024))
A.R. McNevin is not a pirate. He is, however, one of the finest curmudgeons one could ever hope to meet. His likes include hitting people with sticks, Peking duck on a bed of fried rice and a hearty & healthy debate about the media of the day, which may or may not result in the aforementioned hitting people with sticks. His dislikes include… well, pretty much everything. He may have been told that this blurb was meant for a match.com profile.
