IF YOU LIKE VAMPIRES TALES WITH A LOT SUSPENSE, PROPHESY, HIGHLY SEXUAL COUPLE, THEN YOU WILL ENJOY "Le Roi Du Sang" by Tiana Laveen! I loved Alexandre and Venus --- a truly memorable couple for the ages in vampire books !!!!!!!!
Alexandre was the baddest master vampire I've read about in a long time and it took his Queen bride, Venus to make his a better vamp and bend as he loved her! Bow down to Tiana Laveen! "Le Roi Du Sang" would be a great movie!
If you’re looking for a great Vampire read, I think you will absolutely love Tiana Laveen ‘s Le Roi Du Sang. This book has all the blood and gore that you would expect from a Vampire read with plenty of action and a really beautiful fated love story that made for amazing story line. Be forewarned that there some scenes that some may be sensitive too, but if you’re ready for a wild journey to HEA I think you will enjoy this one.
The writing was not to my taste. There was unusually descriptive and long-winded dialogue from a cranky MMC of few words that's clearly just disguised exposition vomit.
The way the MMC spoke did not seem genuine to any white man, especially not an ancient French man. There were so many characters that had random complete changes in vernacular, spouting random rap lyrics, slang, or AAVE thrown into conversations.
The spice is so bad, which is unfortunate for a vampire romance. It also felt so unearned. The FMC went from hating him, to 3 days later moving in with him, and a few weeks after that sleeping together and saying 'I love you's' with absolutely no binding event(s) or getting to know each other and warming to each other on page. The MMC went from 400 years of 'I can't love' to professing love but not much happened between them. Way too insta-love.
I somewhat struggled to read this book. At times what was happening was totally outrageous, especially the sex scenes between Alexandre+Venus when he would basically dislocate himself.
My main issue is with how the characters dialogue changed but especially for Alexandre. For him I felt there were 3 distinct voices, he would at times speak like the French vampire he is meant to be, at times it felt like an older black woman doling out a lesson in vampire life, then finally there is a part that I felt he was depicting a stereotypical gay man when all he would be doing is threatening people and calling them bitch.
For Venus she had 3 voices. Her as the educated professor, her as the slave girl fearing for her life then when she would get into confrontation or conflict, her ghetto black side came out.
There are some parts of the book that you know you're reading horror. Tiana from the start stated she is not writing a book to make you fall in love with sparkly vampires but one that depicts them as the beings of horror and bloodlust that they are. That she has definitely achieved in the story.
For their love story, I really did not feel their connection. Alexandre stated his claim, then basically kidnapped Venus, then Venus resisted him, they had their tag of war between pages and finally they were declaring their love for one another. It just did not click for me.
So, what kept me reading? Genevieve. I wanted to find out what greater part she played in all this. I also loved the art at the beginning of each chapter. I especially loved the one where Venus is depicted as Akasha from Queen of the damned. My favourite character was the underdog Whiskey.
All in all, not my greatest vampire/romance/dark story, just an okay read.
3.00 Stars. (BWWM) Paranormal. The hero, King Alexandre Marseille, is 400-year-old French royal true blood/natural born vampire 🧛♀️ and more closely aligns with Bram Stocker’s Dracula than with Stephanie Meyers’ Edward. The heroine, Venus M. Anderson, is born enslaved; but is destined to be free because of her mother’s and Alexandre mother’s supplications. Queen Genevieve, rescues Venus from her slave masters, turn her into a vampire, spends years traveling with Venus preparing her to become Alexandre’s Queen which will answer both mother’s prayers...Venus will no longer be enslaved and she will bring joy and happiness into life of Alexandre. Alexandre is an archetype of the cruel, human blood engesting, sexually wanton , superior being until he meets Venus who he pursues with wreckless abandon... he’s attentive, protective, patient and kind. He teaches her self defense which requires harmful exercises; but he’s careful to protect her from ay serious enjury. Venus isn’t immediately receptive to the notion that she is his mate although she is unable to deny her responsiveness to him. Venus also clings to her humanity and after disposing of his brother and other enemies, Alexandre and Venus wed, share the throne and live happy loving lives.
3,5 This romance tells the story of a slave becoming one of the most powerful vampire on earth. It also depicts a vampire dynasty and its inner struggles.
I liked: The ascent of a black female slave, it was pretty enjoyable.
I loved: The parts where there were thoughts about the way our society is really corrupt with another kind of vampires, bloodsuckers.
I disliked: The fact that we were distracted from these same thoughts with balls included penetrations just after or just before...
To my sexy romance fans: You will love it, it's predictable, a classic ennemies to lovers/ bad guy hero, but still a page turner.
To my fantasy / vampire fans: It is a fantasy fiction, even if romance has the best of it.
To my soft hearts: it's steamy from the beginning and it gets REAL and ROUGH fast. Plus, I have to warn you, just like the author does in the first pages, the hero is a monster. A cold killer ( a looooot of innocents dying) who is , at the end, considered the perfect vampire...
I loved the unusual says of these vampires. They where not the way usual vampires that you read about. If I had to pick a negative it would be I didn't understand when Venus fell in love. It was like one minute she was fighting it, then the next the were in love. No build up to her changing her mind. But all in all this was an awesome story
Le Roi du Sang was different. So much was happening so fast I was confused Alexander was harsh and the way he talked to Venus was crazy I was confused was he in love or mad at her this was not what I'm used to from one of my favorite author
Wow what a great ending to an amazing story. I absolutely loved this unique and bloody love story. Venus is the history we wish could’ve happened to all Africans during that period of time. Venus is independent, strong, takes no crap a true alpha woman and although humans were cruel to her and everyone she knows she still has a heart and passion. Alexandre is the opposite, he’s short tempered, brutally honest, no love or concern for humans until he meets his match in Venus. This alpha male and female lights up the sheets and the pages with their whirlwind and fight for their love.
This is the 3rd time reading this novel and it will always remain in rotation. The transformation of the hero due to the humanity and love of the heroin is satisfying. And the fact that she kicks a** helps too :)
Really enjoyed this book..the characters were interesting and made you read more... would read another about whiskey. Enjoy this authors books usually.
Forced myself to read 23% but couldn't stomach any more. The dialogue is silly and lewd. Couldn't picture adults speaking this way. Several times I wondered if I had skipped a line or paragraph because there is no flow that makes sense. Wish I could get my money back.
This book was awesome! I was nervous that it was going to be too graphic for me, but it wasn’t it. I loved how she told the story from beginning to end and how each character bought so much to the book.
I have read many vampire stories and each has been unique. Le Roi Du Sang was unique in the sense that the author didn't try to lessen how cruel, evil, and diabolical vampires can be. Most vampire romances try to hook the reader by making the vampire seem like a hero and by implying that vampires are misunderstood. But the author of this story didn't try to portray Alexandre as someone who didn't want to be a vampire or someone who was loving and kind. Alexandre was ruthless, diabolical, scary, and much more. When he chose his mate, I thought he would soften up, but no, he was still vicious.
You may be wondering from my statement above how could Le Roi Du Sang be a love story? Well, Venus made this story about love. She was not as hardened as Alexandre. She was still able to see the beauty in life and that is what helped him to mellow out when it came to her. He began to see that she was more than just a woman who would be his bride. In other words, she became more than a business transaction for him. He began to see her unique qualities; thus, he fell in love with her. Her love did not change his diabolical ruthless nature, I think it actually enhanced it, which made the story even more interesting.
There were several other ways that the story was different from other vampire stories, but you will have to read Le Roi Du Sang for yourself to find out.
I love any and all things vampire, so when I saw this, from Ms. Laveen, I knew I'd be in supernatural bliss. Sexy is not a strong enough word to describe Alexandre and Venus. They were beautiful together, like they were made for each other. I enjoyed his slightly thuggish ways. For a lawyer/vampire, he had swag for days. Venus was lovable and good hearted from day one. The fact that she managed to stay that way, even after hundreds of years, spoke volumes about her true nature. Whiskey is a wonderful character too, and I hope he gets his HEA. Great storyline with lots of action, drama, violence and sex, everything that makes vampire stories (well written ones) yummy!
This is the baddest of the bad....Le Roi Du Sang is the vampire that who other vampires are afraid of....he is Master of all things go boo in the dark....Anne Rice Lestat should take lessons from Le Roi Alexandre Marseille...lessons on how the baddest Mofo on the block earns the title...he's sexy beast....waiting for centuries to claim his true mate...slaying with a vengeance...fu(king with vengeance mix with fury...until Venus appears....and a fine specimen she is...born into slavery...rescued from degradation and groomed to become the most powerful vampire Queen....it unapologetically exquisite....Tianna Leveen's first vampire story is brilliant....raw....beautiful and I am so happy to be fan girl follower..
Le Roi Du Sang is a very interesting read from beginning to end. Venus captivate the reader attention from the time she is escaping the plantation to her run in with her sire. Alexandre is ruthless and always one step ahead of his enemy/enemies. Especially his mentally incapable brother Victor who desire is the crown. He rather continue with the old ways than except change. His partner in crime, Fawn only wants to be queen and will do anything to make it happen. Too bad she never gotten that chance. These characters are riveting. If you don't like gore , I would advise you NOT to read this book. The fighting scenes are off the chain. Two thumbs way up.
I have several books from this author and have never been disappointed. This book was GREAT. I don't like to give away the story in a book. All I can say is this book is a MUST READ. This book was so good that I could not put it down. I started reading this last night and could not put it down I just finished it this morning. Please tell me you are going to give Whiskey his own story.
LOVED THIS BOOK SOOO MUCH!!!! I love both of their growth as characters. I love learning how they had different upbringings that make them who they are and how even with that crazy ride of getting to know each other that they still got their happy ever after. Some parts kind of confused me but then got sorted out in the end. I had been waiting for this book since I saw that it was going to be released this year on Amazon (marked it in my calendar and everything). Then binge read it in one day!
I REALLY liked this story. It was a great read. I loved the tale of Venus and Mars. I liked how the King evolved and how Venus finally embraced who she was without losing the parts she valued most about herself. I loved the friendship the developed between Venus and Sya. I loved the relationship between Venus and the Queen Mother. This was an excellent read and I hope Whiskey gets his own story. This book is highly recommended.
That was on point. You go girl!!!! You never disappointed I enjoy reading about Mars & Venus. They definitely was their name. I like this vampire world. It was in your face off the chain and crazy. Best thing about this book it spoke the truth about human nature slavery and attitude. I hope Ms. Laveen write more paranormal OR stories. I love this this story. It was awesome!
I loved this book!! Alexandre and Venus..gosh almighty!! I didn't think I would like this book, but boy was I wrong!!! Alexandre was ruthless and so damn sexy..He had me wishing I was a vampire, lo!!! Venus was no joke either, but the both of them together were a force to reckoned with!!! This book was so different, but kept you in the edge of your seat wandering what they were going to do next!!! Loved it!!
Once again Tiana Laveen has given us a five star read! This book is the truth! I loved Alexandre and Venus. He was a super alpha and she was definitely not a weakling. They have a love seen in the book that truly makes your toes curl, you'll know when you read it. I want more of this couple! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A Dom like no other. I love this novel. This was a roller coaster ride. That took off from the gate. I like the fact that the story didnt prolong the couple meeting each other. I was happy that this was a complete story. Hopefully whiskey will get his own story
The book was really awesome. Took me awhile to finish it because of busy schedule but the story was different and interesting for this author. I do hope we get Whiskey story. I found the Asian’ king and queen very interesting and I like them. The author did great with the H and h. Even the side characters were good.
I loved this story from beginning to end and I didn't want to put it down. It had everything a vampire story should have and more. Blood and bits and gore and Monsters and evil and good and magic and more!
This was a wonderful story Tiana. Thanks for inviting me to the wedding 😍
This book is a work of art Read it not you like paranormal or even if you don't. You won't be able to put it down. The characters have depth the plot is deep significant and the story means something I simply loved it. It has had five stars, but actually it needs a whole lot more
This book was amazing I count put it down for one second. I do not want to give anything away. It was beautifully written. A good book is like opening up a window into another world where you can see the love, feel joy and pain. You become attached to the characters. That’s what this book does and more.
