The lives of three individuals from different upbringing come together as they become residents of the same apartment building. Career aspirations, inner fears and purpose in life pull them in different directions. Jealousy and greed get the better of you when you want something so bad. You tend to listen to your heart far more than you should listen to your brain. And as Pascal rightly said, "the heart has its reason which reason knows nothing of". If this is you, the three halves in this book are merely a reflection of you. The question remains: which two halves belong?
A unique story of three individuals in a neighbourhood who pursue their careers and life and their friendship gradually draws them closer and transforms into a love triangle where what's unsaid means more than what's said leading to misunderstanding and apprehensions and then one of them finally has the guts to confont the other but the encounter turns out to be a disaster! Keeps the reader guessing...a brilliant ending.
Ok..if I'm being honest, I really felt like ,ok here is another romance drama in the making and really thought to give up on the book. But hey, never leave a story, once started, incomplete. So I dutifully pressed on...and OH BOY! I'm glad I did. The story picked up pace and twisted in a way I absolutely did not see coming. The characters are well thought of and have enough mystery to them to keep you wanting to know them more and if you were, like me, a hostelite or had a roommate/s, you would find your self relating to many of the situations described...but hopefully not all of them ;-) Having said all this.. It a great second book from this author and I'm sure there is a lot more in him to give to the reading community
Simple language, tremendous hold on flow, intense characters, perfect complex & an unimaginable but thought provoking end.
For an Indian Novelist, a job worth appreciation. The entire story shows how deep the author himself can fathom the complex world of emotions that we in general never would have thought about.
Mr Prana succeeds in engaging the readers till the end, the tempo hardly slows down. I would say that with such delicacies being handled with such smoothness, you simply become one of them depending on your own EQ.
Must read. A damn good eye opener for our youngsters.
Fantastic Job Mr. Prana. More expected. Best wishes ahead...
So I was given a copy of this book to review and that's how I came across this Indian fiction. It was an easy read because I finished the book in 2 days.
You dwell into the lives of three individuals on their activities along with their perspectives. The descriptions are not exaggerated which makes it believable. I guess upto around 15 chapters, the story feels predictable with the usual drama. Then comes the twists and turns which doesn't let you put the book down until you finish the book.
I personally liked the language used in this book. Though there are Hindi phrases which I usually despise, I was okay with it considering that it did blend with the story.
I would recommend this book for a light read and rate it at 3.5/5
Lives of three different personalities. Dia , Aisha and Samir. Destiny brought them together and story of every ups and downs of their lives started there. Love , affection , greed all human emotions had made every personality more prominent. Somewhere true love , fight for someone special made a person blind and somewhere people just for achieving the success use another but every wishes and necessities of human lives had been thrown here on the table with a proper fraction. Characters are properly depicted and every character has some different stories to share . With a very simple and comprehensive way the story has been told. A normal romantic drama with its unexpected twist has become more interesting . Even at the end Aisha's feelings , her emotions and how she fought her all life for getting someone special and how she tried to justify her act with a broken heart just bring tears in the eyes . In a simple way I can say that I love this book because the unexpected climax has impressed me more.
This is an amazing story. The last part gave me goosebumps. Very well written. I do hope you write a sequel soon with more number of pages to read Mr Prana. Loved reading every bit of it. I am your fan now. Please keep going
I was given this book to review, and it was a pretty decent experience. While the setup is that of a typical boy-meets-girl melodramatic fare, the way proceedings unravel could leave you rather surprised. The new-to-town protagonist is put in the envious position of two neighbour women - who are as different from each other as chalk and cheese - jostling for his attention. This was, of course, not his intention: Samir has arrived in Pune to study analytics and bolster his employability. His restraint towards vices and platonic conduct prove to be a breath of fresh air for Aisha and Dia, who have their reasons to be cynical owing to their past and the stresses of their jobs.
While Samir integrates himself into the women's circle and they get to know each other better, feelings develop, but the tale isn't quite so straightforward. The plot twists - which occur with increasing regularity and intensity towards the end of the story - are effective even if, through a combination of exponentially increasing pace and prior evidence presented (or lack of), they feel somewhat out of the blue.
The story underlines the fact that we are not ourselves when we're in love, and the way we act in this state has consequences. You're also left to ponder whether compatibility is binary (it either is or isn't, at that instant), or if it is something that can be moulded. The name-dropping of Indiahikes and attractive destinations within Maharashtra is an added bonus for those of an adventurous persuasion.
If you've got a spot for a story in your weekend, you could do worse than pick this one up.
