The Wonder of Now

Rate this book

Moving on has never been harder—or so perfectly unpredictable…

Peyton Prescott would give anything for the carefree life she knew before breast cancer changed everything. But instead of using her second chance to move forward, she’s stuck promoting the memoir her brother convinced her to write, thus reliving the very battle she wants to forget. If she hopes her European book tour will allow her to enjoy revisiting her favorite travel-writing destinations, she’s wrong: her PR whiz is too consumed with his own goals to consider her needs.

Mitch Mathis has relied on discipline to achieve his goals, and with his new firm’s success riding on Peyton’s book launch, he must keep her on task. They’re here for business, not pleasure. And Mitch won’t let unbridled desire harm his professional reputation—not again.

When frustrated expectations and attraction throw the tour into chaos, it challenges everything Mitch and Peyton believe about themselves, life, and love, forcing these opposites to consider whether they can embrace the change they need to grow.

This is women's fiction/romance, and this is 3rd book in the Sanctuary Sound series. I really enjoyed this book. This book as happy times, sad times, and the inbetween times, and I love when a book can make me feel everything. I could not put this book down. I did win a kindle edition of this book from a goodreads giveaway, but this review is 100% my opinion.

I have been anxiously waiting for Peyton’s story and Ms. Beck did not disappoint!

THE WONDER OF NOW (Sanctuary Sound Book 3) by Jamie Beck is the third contemporary romance in this trilogy about three friends who dubbed themselves the Lilac Lane League growing up and their lives until they each find their HEAs. This can be read as a standalone, but there is character and back-story crossover.

Peyton Prescott is not the same carefree, world travel blogger she was before her breast cancer. She has survived a double mastectomy, reconstruction surgery and a year of baring her sole through words to go along with the pictures taken by her brother, Logan, a professional photographer, of her personal journey to be published as a book with half the proceeds going to fight cancer. Up until the cancer she led a privileged and spoiled life, but now she must find a way to face her new self in the mirror not just physically, but mentally also.

The first leg of publicity for the book is a tour through Europe. Logan is at home planning his wedding, so the publisher hires a publicist to accompany her.

Mitch Mathis has been responsible and disciplined ever since he lost his father to cancer while in high school. His new company’s success is riding on Peyton’s tour being a success. There are definitely sparks between the two, but Mitch has been burned before in an office romance and refuses to ever let personal feelings interfere with business again.

As the tour progresses, Mitch and Peyton’s attraction grows, but so do expectations, stress and miscommunications. Both need to decide if they are willing to be what the other needs.

All three of these books were about such emotionally strong women, but I especially loved this book. I have known many women who have gone through Peyton’s journey and others who have passed on and this book realistically covers so many of their fears and joys as I witnessed their terrifying and amazing journeys. Mitch and Peyton are a wonderful couple with a complex, flawed and slow burn romance that had my emotions engaged throughout. These characters and this book will stay with me for a long time to come.

I highly recommend this contemporary romance trilogy and for me, they only get stronger as they progress.

This is an absolutely lovely story that deals with the really heavy subject matter of breast cancer with such finesse that one is both enlightened and uplifted - all while taking the journey of falling in love!

Peyton would be a very hard character for any author to unravel. She was the villain of previous books because she stole the man her best friend was hopelessly in love with. And, she selfishly did it full knowing the devastation and hurt she was causing. Fast forward a few years and she has experienced the grief of losing that same man when he left her after learning she has stage four breast cancer. She has endured all the horrible consequences of both with no one but her brother by her side. And, she is now on a world-wide book tour to promote the book the two of them made together of her experience.

As we follow Peyton on her journey, Ms. Beck does an incredible job of helping the reader understand the nuances, fears, insecurities and bravery that accompany the fight with this dreaded disease. It is both heart-breaking and enlightening.

There were times I had a really hard time with Peyton's choices - especially in the love area - but I could never judge her because I have never been in her shoes. Would I have reacted as she did? I don't know.

Mitch is also a very layered and wonderful study in familial duty vs self. He is a fabulous character and, like Peyton, one where judgement could never be passed whether his decisions are correct or not because one understands where those choices come from.

The ending was just a bit cliche' but it doesn't undermine the overall loveliness of the journey and of the result!

With this third entry into Jamie Beck’s Sanctuary Sound novels, The Wonder of Now is at turns both heart breaking and heart-warming and deals with very heavy subject matter with an obviously sure and steady hand.

The story begins with Peyton Prescott facing the next phase of her emotional journey. Following her battle with breast cancer, during which she allowed her brother to document and photograph her entire treatment, she is now facing the daunting task of embarking on a press tour of the book created by her and her brother. But there is so much more happening within Peyton.

Mitch, the publicist Peyton will be travelling with, has his own back-story, which causes him to be reserved, disciplined, and ambitious. He is concerned about maintaining his professionalism, but at the same time clearly has great respect and admiration for Peyton, what she has been through, and what she is trying to accomplish with her book.

With this completion of Peyton’s story, Beck has brought a previously (and perhaps rightfully) vilified character through a fully redemptive arc. She is not the woman from the previous novels who stole her close friend’s lover, and she is not the carefree travel blogger she once was.

And this is not a fluffy, lightweight romance. There is great depth in Beck’s exploration of a cancer-survivor and how that fundamentally changes who Peyton is and how she thinks of everything in the world around her. Beck also guides the reader through the characters’ motivations and thoughts, and never just their actions. We know why Peyton reacts a certain way to something Mitch says (for example), and like adults, they then are able to talk about how they feel about something.

While it is fun to read about all the foreign cities that Peyton and Mitch travel to, and all the locations are amazingly and vividly described, it is the characters and Beck’s masterful hand at writing such genuinely human characters that keep readers returning to her novels. They are raw and real, and they are flawed in the same way that every reader has experienced in his or her own life.

Maybe it is a very bold statement, but everything that one may think they hate about “romance novels” can be undone with books by Jamie Beck. The Wonder of Now is emotional, it is uplifting, it is heart-breaking, but ultimately shows the reader the best of humanity in a heartfelt story.

I have enjoyed this series and especially when I learned that Peyton had to deal with breast cancer as I am a survivor myself. We had different experiences going through treatment so sometimes I could relate to her and other times I couldn't. While the treatment phase was more in book 2, there are still references to what she endured. She was also reliving it while on tour promoting her memoir about her experience and sharing raw thought and photos of that time.

Peyton is a character that learns a lot over a short period of time. It is amazing how a cancer diagnosis will do that to someone...anyone really. But I think it helps humanize her and bring her down from the lofty perch that she seemed to have climbed onto before the cancer diagnosis.

Mitch has had a rough life taking care of his mother and sister after his father passed away. This is both a good and bad thing because his mother has become too dependent on him for everything, his sister is flighty, and he works too hard. However, a book tour in Europe might just change his perspective on life.

I enjoyed this book and the interactions between all of the characters. I wasn't wild about Mitch's mother and how dependent she was on him and acted so helpless. His sister wasn't much better but she was allowed to do as she pleased for too long without being held accountable. The relationship between Peyton and Mitch was a growing experience for both of them. They both have so much to give but fear holds them back. You could say this book tour did wonders for their fear, or at least move them further down the path.

This is the 3rd book in the sanctuary sound series and I couldn’t wait for Peyton’s story.
We have learned about her and her journey through the previous book and I couldn’t wait to hear her stories from her !
I was unprepared for all the emotions this book revealed.

Peyton has just completed treatment for breast cancer. Her road to remission was captured in photographs by her brother , added in with her notes and interactions with other patients and turned into a memoir. Peyton would like to not relive this time in her life over and over but she is to travel with Mitch ,the publishers PR man aka eye candy , to handle and help her navigate her European book tour ,even though there is attraction there, neither one is ready to admit .

Peyton is one to be admired, her strength, honesty and struggle was a great read. There is a definite message of slowing down and smelling the roses .
Jamie Beck has written this book with her entire soul pouring out in the pages. I not only loved all the characters , I also felt like I just returned from a trip abroad.
I do not want this series to end!

* Received copy from third party source for review.

Peyton is a breast cancer survivor. Diagnosed in her 20's, undergoing a double mastectomy and chemo, she is now in remission and ready to resume her globe trotting career as a travel writer. Her brother, a famous photographer, and she collaborated on a book about her cancer journey, and she is using some travel to promote the book along with re-igniting her own travel blog. Along with her PR rep, Mitch, to whom she is attracted, she undergoes a huge journey, both physical and emotional and she finds her new normal.

Although marketed as a romance and filled with romantic elements, this book is much more about introspection of all the characters (so much time in everyone's heads). Both Peyton and Mitch have loads of baggage, and they managed to let it spin around and around on the luggage carousel of this book way more than necessary. I thought Peyton's journey from cancer patient to who she is now was the best part of the book. Unfortunately, that gets lost in all the other character's issues, including other issues of Peyton's.

I had no trouble reading this as the 3rd book of the series having not read the first 2. It was pretty good - 2 stars bumped up to 3 due to the well handled difficult subject matter - and I'm sure there are those who would love it. It wasn't for me.

Though this is the third book in a series, it is easily read as a stand-alone. There are references to certain things that I assumed were covered in earlier books, but I felt comfortable with jumping right into the story.

The Wonder of Now is a breast cancer survivor book. Peyton’s brother Logan has helped her through her cancer journey by taking pictures while Peyton recorded a type of journal. Their book is published, and they are hoping it will help others who are experiencing the same thing.

But now it’s time for the publicity tour. Logan isn’t able to go, so Peyton is scheduled to tour Europe with her publicist, Mitch. But as they tour it is immediately evident that Peyton is ready to relax and relieve some of the experiences she had as a travel writer. But Mitch, who is needing this tour to be successful for his own business, is cautious of letting his guard down with Peyton or varying from his marketing plan.

Peyton struggles on the tour with having to relieve certain unpleasant experiences regarding her cancer journey. While she feels her past is quite private, there is also a need to help others by being open and sharing. In time Mitch and Peyton allow each other’s strengths to begin to permeate their shell.

The tour and their growing relationship begin to challenge everything Mitch and Peyton believe about themselves.

The story is touching and real. Peyton needs to trust that she is loved just the way she is, scars and all. Mitch needs to take a step back and smell the roses.

Peyton’s life is further complicated by how she treated her best friend (in an earlier book). The book is layered with issues that need to be solved but handled in a very believable way.

As with any series, I would suggest starting with the first book. But, again, this was probably one of the easiest to pick up mid-series and feel comfortable with.

What Concerned Me:
Call me a fuddy-duddy, but I’m not a fan of sex scenes. To me, those are better left to the imagination. As I remember there was only one in this book, and it was handled well, but that’s my opinion.

What I Liked Most:
This is a tough topic, but the story is handled tastefully and realistically. The characters are memorable and the story easily kept me turning pages.

I first heard about this book in the @Booksparks #FRC2019 Lineup and I knew I had to read this.

Peyton and Mitch’s story in The Wonder of Now by Jamie Beck, is book three in her Sanctuary Sound series. I love opposites attract tropes and this one gave me all the feels. Peyton writes a memoir about her surviving cancer battles and goes on an European book tour promoting her reflections during her treatment and recovery. Her brother Logan talked her into this publication and took the photos of her cancer journey. Mitch Mathis is there for only business and has laser sharp focus to make sure this book is a success! Will Mitch and Peyton ever see eye to eye - or will a heart to heart ensue instead.

I LOVED his book. It tackled difficult topics with sensitivity. I love how wonderful this story is and as a nurse who once worked with cancer patients, this story really tugged at my heartstrings and all the emotions with it . This is definitely a "keep tissue nearby" read. I truly loved Beck's writing style and it really drew me in to this lovely story. thoroughly enjoyable read.

I loved the complexity of the characters Jamie Beck wrote about and the chemistry build up was amazing with wonderful dialogue, and banter, which made this one of my favorite reads this year for me. I highly recommend this read and glad it made the list for the Booksparks Fall reading challenge 2019.

The Wonder of Now is the third book in this trilogy, I didn’t know that when I read it - it can be read as a stand-alone however there are some story crossovers. Due to the complex characters whose relationships don’t seem simple I would like to have read book one and two first. Something which I will do.
Peyton the main character has wrote a book about how she overcome breast cancer and the emotions and issues that carries.

During her battle her brother Logan photographs her entire life and is now open to all in a book.

Her publicist is Mitch, who seems to be a little off hand with her and cool. They seem to have challenging moments until the sexual tension develops. As they travel from city to city promoting the book Mitch and Peyton’s characters are peeled back and feelings past and present are opened up to each other.

I recommend The Wonder of you, Jamie Becks descriptive writing allows us the reader to feel empathy for the traumatic journey a cancer patient experiences and yet at the same time we are left feeling happy that Peyton experiences her love of travel again as we live this through her eyes, the authors descriptions of food and wine and city life are lovely.

A tough topic, but handled well with honesty and the novel expresses the importance of friends and family, forgiveness and the struggles of recovery.

I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher for a fair and honest review.

Title: The Wonder of Now (Sanctuary Sound #3)
Author: Jamie Beck
Publisher: Montlake Romance
Pub Date: September 10, 2019
Rating: 4⭐️

This story dealt with heavy subject matter in such a beautiful way. Peyton Prescott’s life has been completely changed following a battle with breast cancer. Through her treatment she wrote a book and now the book is being published. Before cancer she was a travel blogger and now she feels lost because she doesn’t feel like she can go back to that, but she also doesn’t know where she should go now.

In the meantime, she is stuck doing a book tour that is forcing her to relive all of her experiences. Her publicist Mitch Mathis is very type A to Peyton’s type B personality. They challenge each other and really work well together. I enjoyed watching their romance slowly grow. There was plenty of sexual tension in this story and Mitch could not have been more respectful and understanding of Peyton’s reservations.

This book is about living in the now and trying your best to live in the moment and enjoy where you are. Do things that bring you joy and take chances. An overall enjoyable read about love and self growth.

The Wonder of Now: A Sanctuary Sound Novel is written by Jamie Beck. This novel takes on the horrifying specter of Cancer. How cancer can affect the person who has it as well as those who care about them. Cancer can take dreams and make dreams. It is only in the way that we look at cancer.
Peyton Parrish has had to face cancer and how it has affected her and her family and friends. Her boyfriend broke up with her and her parents distanced themselves as usual. Only her brother, Logan, has stood beside her and held her up. His work with photography led to his taking photographs of her throughout her ordeal and her writing about what has happened to her and how she is feeling. Now the book has been published and it is time for a book tour. Since Logan is just getting engaged with Claire, Peyton is on the European stage of the book tour by herself with their publicist for company. Can Peyton’s playful personality compete with the forceful personality of their publicist? It is very important for his company that this tour work. What can Peyton and her brother do to get the tour to work?

Prepare yourself for heartbreaking and eventually heartwarming story. We have Peyton who wrote a book documenting how she dealt with her breast cancer, wow that part is poignant. Mitchell her publicist decides to come along with her and as he is spending time with her and learning what she went thru and what she is afraid of starts having feelings for her and these two need to heal and go thru their demons in order for them to truly be able to be together. Truly emotional showing a good author to have us feel it.

Finally, Peyton’s book! This book, the last of a series of three, tells the story of Peyton, a cancer survivor who is also the woman who stole her best friends lover. Those two facts define her life at the present time. Her friend Claire is slowly forgiving her for her regrettable decision to take off with Claire’s boyfriend and has fallen in love with Peyton’s brother Logan.
Logan is another good/bad part of her life. During her cancer battle, Peyton allowed Logan to photograph the entire process and added her own observations which are now in a book. Peyton is reluctantly going on a press tour and opening herself up in city after city. But, she really doesn’t want to do it!
Adding to Peyton’s discomfort is her publicist, Mitch, who seems distant and dismissive. He has no compassion for her struggle over reliving the most horrible period of her life. Mitch has negative memories of cancer in his own life and he doesn’t share the information.
I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to have faced death, be confronted with the pictures of your body being destroyed and then rebuilt with fake parts, and have to go out and be “brave” day after day. Your health is iffy, your friendships on thin ice and you have to travel with an unfeeling pencil pusher-life is just a big ball of yuck. The moments of humor and happiness are bright lights in what could be a depressing story.
Ms. Beck keeps it real throughout this book. Some might see this story as being about a villain in earlier books who karma got in the end. There is no magic reconciliation with Claire because Peyton gets sick. Peyton does not become some brave survivor overnight. She and Mitch don’t see each other and love strikes. Peyton has to fight hard for every little victory and there is no guarantee of winning the war at the end. As in the earlier books, it’s a long road to happiness and it makes the end of the story that much sweeter.

It takes a skilled author to redeem a vilified character, and this book is classic Jamie Beck...THANK GOODNESS. Book one in this series (The Memory of You) fell completely flat for me so I was concerned for the rest of the series. Thank goodness books two and three were exactly what I expect from Ms. Beck - which is a multi-book series with complex characters whose relationships are messy. These are not books meant to be read as standalones - as with all relationships, there is a story to tell and you need to read book to watch the story unfold of life-long friends Steffi, Claire, and Peyton.

For Peyton Prescot, the ire of her friends was well earned, having stolen the boyfriend of best friend Claire. Nevermind the asshat pursued Peyton...once she found out the “Todd” she was falling in love with was the same “Todd” Claire was in a serious relationship with, she should have walked away. When Todd then walked away from Peyton after she was diagnosed with breast cancer it seemed, at the time, karma was exacting her revenge.

Now Peyton is one year out from her last cancer treatment. She’s healed, she’s feeling healthy, and she has apologized to Claire (repeatedly) for her actions. (FYI, that took place in book 2 - The Promise of Us - of the Sanctuary Sound series). Now it’s time for her to embark on a publicity tour to promote the book she wrote with her brother Logan - a well known photo-journalist - documenting her cancer treatment. It’s a project Peyton was cajoled into and still has very mixed feelings about. All she can hope is for the book to help those affected by cancer and that the proceeds will fund research to find a cure.

Travelling with Peyton on this trip through Europe is PR guru, Mitchell Mathis. Having recently started his own PR firm, there’s a lot riding on the success of Peyton and Logan’s book, and unfortunately Peyton doesn’t always make things easy for him. He’s basically the opposite of Peyton: serious, reserved, and all business all the time. But as they go from city to city, Mitch learns to lighten up and Peyton finds the strength to tell her story.

With characters whose layers need to be peeled back and complicated relationships all around, this heartbreaking story pulls the reader in and doesn’t let go until the very last page. This series began with Peyton being persona non grata, and ended with her forgiveness. I loved how she never made excuses for herself, never tried to rationalize her choice. She knew she what she did was wrong, asked for forgiveness, and let Claire set the rules for their new relationship. My favorite thing about this series (well, in books two and three) is that everyone was allowed to have their feelings - people were angry, people were sad, and nothing was swept under the rug. It’s only when feeling the full force of the negative feelings that you can experience the joy of everyone being healed. And it was wonderful to watch the relationships between Steffi, Claire, and Peyton come full circle.

At its core, The Wonder of Now is about moving on after you’ve made a colossal mistake. It’s about doing the hard work to get over your issues (which, surprise surprise, was my big issue with book one - Steffi had major issues and the reader never got to see her doing the hard work). Ms. Beck is one of the most adept authors at exploring relationships - the good, the bad, the ugly. And not just ones between a hero and heroine. There’s plenty of mess to wade through with other relationships. Basically, I love all of it!

I’m excited to see what Jamie Beck writes next. It’s clear book one in this series was a fluke. I’m always up for complicated and messy relationships, and Ms. Beck delivers that time and time again.

Logan Prescott has documented every step of his sister Peyton’s cancer journey from diagnosis to treatment to surgery. Peyton has added her feelings, fears and despair to the emotional memoir. Her goal for the book is to raise money for cancer research. Logan was Peyton’s lifeline during her two year battle—and she must take a huge step without him. Peyton’s PR person, Mitch Mathis, is going to accompany her the European book tour. Peyton understands the importance of the tour on several levels. She needs the good press generated by her author speaking engagements to ensure book sales and she needs to move forward with her life.

Peyton and Mitch are total opposites; at first glance they do not seem to have anything in common. Before her diagnosis, Peyton travelled all over the world and was a well-known blogger. Mitch is a workaholic and appeared to be more concern with texting, hitting the best seller list and working than in Peyton or the tour.

I liked that Jamie Beck presented Peyton has a flawed character. She was not perfect before her surgery- she made mistakes and hurt people she loved- or after it. The author did a superb job including Peyton’s insecurities about her body image. As a cancer survivor, this resonated with me. You are not the same after cancer—your body has changed, you have scars, you dread having your mammogram and you wonder about stray cancer cells. I loved that Peyton grew stronger, more self-confident as she realizes sharing her story has positive effect on her readers.

Jamie Beck explored both Mitch and Peyton’s strengths and weakness. I wasn’t a fan of Mitch until he admitted that he was too busy to read her book—which devastated Peyton. This story choice allowed the readers to discover the reasons why Mitch could not read Peyton’s story and allowed the author to show a compassionate, caring side to the workaholic PR man. Peyton struggled with reliving her experience on tour.

This is one of my favorite quotes:

Thanks for giving up weeks of your life to walk me through my first – and last—European book tour. For making me take responsibility for this work when all I wanted to run from it. I might not write another book as long as I live, but somehow doing all of this has made me feel a little stronger than when we started. More like a survivor, than a victim. You have made this experience memorable Mitch.

The Wonder of Now holds a special place on my keeper shelf. I loved the characters, identified with their struggles and enjoyed reading their journey. Jamie Beck’s descriptive writing allows the reader to imagine the sights and taste the food in Italy and France. The honest conversations between Logan, Peyton and Mitch bring the reader into the story immediately. Peyton’s step by step journey towards recovery kept me reading. Loved the romance that developed between Mitch and Peyton-it was perfectly paced and poignant.

I highly recommend The Wonder of Now-it’s got all the feels. It’s an emotional, heartbreaking story which showcases the importance of family, the power of forgiveness, the struggles of recovery and –most of all-hope for the future.

I've requested and granted the ARC from NetGalley. This series is about a Lilac Lane League, a trio of best girlfriends, who have gone through so much in their lives, heartbreaks, tragedies, financial hardship, betrayals, and sickness. This book is a romance between Peyton Prescott, a woman who grew up with a silver spoon, a trust fund baby with a literary legendary great grandfather, and Mitchell Mathis, a hardworking, determined and responsible publisher who grew up in a complete opposite environment from Peyton.

Peyton went through a double mastectomy following her breast cancer diagnosis. Her brother Logan had convinced her to write a memoir while he documented her journey via photographs (book 2 The Promise of Us was about Logan and Peyton's childhood friend Claire). This book took us through the book tour in Europe and US that Peyton went on to promote her book, together with her publisher Mitch. And that's how they got to know each other at both professional and personal levels.

My heart went out to Peyton. Her story gave me a great sense of the rough paths cancer survivors had to go through. Her inner thoughts and feelings before, during, and after cancer treatment, how cancer had changed her, her insecurities, her constant worries of the future, her strength and vulnerabilities, her sacrifices for those she loved, her compassion to help others who were dealing with the same struggles... Everything about Peyton felt so real and her stories were heartbreaking and emotional. Even after all she has gone through, yet she's tried to look for silver linings in everything in her life.

Mitch was the man of honor who took on the role of the father figure in his family. While he realized their upbringings were two worlds apart, he found something deep and familiar in Peyton, a smart, passionate, caring and loving woman. After getting on the wrong footing in the beginning of the tour, they've compromised and slowly developed strong feelings for each other. She learned to be more responsible and understanding while he learned to live the moments and enjoy himself.

Jamie Beck's characters have always been real and relatable, and I've always loved her beautiful, sweet, and gentle style. The Sanctuary Sound series particularly highlights the strong women who overcome life tragedies with undying support from their partners, friends and families. I really enjoyed revisiting the previous couples Steffi/Ryan and Claire/Logan. It was not heavy on the sex scene, yet it was lovely and tender, and you can feel the emotions from both characters. I love this book so much and relate to it personally (my mother is a breast cancer survivor). Highly recommended!

Profound and emotional, this serious romance tackles finding love after breast cancer. Peyton is a beautiful woman who used to have no trouble attracting men, and though she’s made some bad decisions in her past, fighting for her life changed her perspective on a lot of things. During her illness, she let her photographer brother document the whole process, and now it’s time for a book to be released that tells the whole story. To others, this should be a celebration of her success, but Peyton doesn’t feel like a woman who is fully healed. Her cancer left not only physical but emotional scars, and though she finds herself inconveniently attracted to her PR guy, Mitch, she’s not sure that she’s ready for romance. Mitch is still reeling from a failed office romance, so he’s doing everything in his power to resist his attraction to Peyton, but hearing more about her story just draws him to the woman she’s become.

I’m not going to lie, this is a pretty heavy book. It’s focused on breast cancer, self-worth and healing from start to finish, so there’s not a lot of lightness. I did love the relationship between Peyton and Mitch (and would’ve loved even more of it). Mitch is such a great guy, steadfast, patient, and he balances out Peyton perfectly. It’s a slow burn romance that takes a little while to get brewing, but I loved the payoff for these two. The heaviness definitely weighed me down at times, but it’s a stark and realistic portrayal of something women around the world face every day - finding the strength to move forward after illness, and learning that you’re worth it. Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me an ARC. I am voluntarily leaving a review of this complex and emotional romance.

I’ve been waiting for this book for a while, I’m a big Jamie Beck fan and have throughly enjoyed the Sanctuary Sound series and so needless to say I was looking forward to Peyton’s story.

Peyton has written a memoir documenting her journey with breast cancer! Now she has to relive the memories and experience as she starts her book tour. Mitchell, her publicist comes along with her and as she opens up and faces her fears, the pull he has towards her only grows stronger! Both have trauma that they need to overcome and healing that has to take place before they can really even try to be together.

This book was more emotional for me than the other two. It was difficult watching Peyton not only relive her cancer journey but also forgive herself for the mistakes she has made in the past.

Based on what has happened in the previous books I felt that Peyton remained true to how she had been portrayed. Strong on the outside, but shaken and scared on the inside. Because Mitchell has also had great grief in his life he was able to reach her in a way that others couldn’t. I loved that he stood up for her and by her when she needed him, but also he brought out of her a strength she didn’t know she had.

Forgiveness for others can be easy, but it’s often harder to forgive ourselves as Peyton discovers. But once she lets go, she becomes free again to be who she truly is!

A wonderful ending to a very delightful series that has dealt with some very serious issues and situations using dignity, grace and humor.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the third book in the series, and is undoubtedly the richer for having read them in order. I knew that Peyton's book would be coming, but it was even better than I could have hoped. It definitely requires tissues - but is at its heart a very uplifting and hopeful book.

Peyton and Logan's book about her cancer journey is about to be released and she is going to have to do some tours and readings ... even though she really doesn't want anything much more to do with it. Her trip to Europe with publicist Mitch is going to challenge her stamina and her resolve to do the right thing - and then she meets him ... and it is going to be even more difficult, as he is everything she never thought she could want again. Very aware of her less than before body, and her vulnerable state of mind, she refuses to acknowledge the chemistry between them, but I think we all know how effective that will be!

I loved this book for the honesty, the value of family, the healing of old wounds and the promise of a much brighter future for them both. Highly recommend this series to you.

Peyton, a survivor of breast cancer, now has to relive the experience as she promotes a memoir which couples her writing with her brother's photography about her treatment. I don't envy her - she should be able to move on with her life but a book tour across Europe makes this difficult. Her publisher has sent a nice young man, Mitch, along, a hard worker who has had to make his own way, unlike Peyton, who was born to money.

That's the nutshell story, but readers who have previously met Peyton will have a different view of her than those who, like me, never read the earlier books. Apparently the wilful miss previously dated a man who was already taken, I think two people were involved in the decision there but Peyton still carries the guilt and wonders if the other lady will ever forgive her. Peyton is absolutely self obsessed and having publishers, booksellers, readers and bloggers hanging on her every word doesn't help. I couldn't get to like her much, Mitch is a more relatable figure. Follow the pair around European cities and see if the budding romance can last once they return to New York and Peyton has to face various consequences, while Mitch has to face some unpalatable truths.

The Wonder of Now is the third book in the Sanctuary Sound series, written by romance author Jamie Beck…And…WOW! This one is incredible! Peyton Prescott documented her post-cancer diagnosis life in a heartfelt and private book that she and her brother, Logan, published. Staying with his talents, Logan photographed the moments to accompany her story. Mitch Mathis is the PR agent helping to promote Peyton’s book overseas…which is difficult with his family history, and his attraction to Peyton.

The way author Jamie Beck wrote this book was fantastic! Diving into personal feelings of someone trying to survive a double mastectomy, the after care, and emotions….GAH!!! So incredible! The passages Peyton read of her book was tear jerking, but amazing. The characters, love story, backstory, emotional recovery…were all wrapped together so beautifully! I couldn’t put this down. I wanted to read it until I knew what happened. I felt so deeply touched by this story. Even though it is in the series, you do not need to read the first two in order to enjoy this one. Absolutely fantastic read! 5 stars

Finding love after breast cancer. Peyton is on a book tour, promoting her new book, a memoir of fighting breast cancer that her brother helped with. Meeting her publicist, Mitch while on tour, fighting off the mutual attraction. They both have previous relationship betrayals that make them leery of going forward.

This is a book that I had a heard time putting it down, read in one day. Loved Peyton, a strong woman but still afraid what the future will bring her. Mitch had his heart broken once and at first is afraid to open his heart again, plus has dealt with cancer first hand with his dad.

This book is the third book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. A great epilogue with the Lilac Lane League all together. I highly recommend this book along with the rest of the series. I read this book through my kindle unlimited.

This is my first book I have read by Jamie Beck, but it won’t be my last.

Let me start by saying that I have not read the first two books in the series and was able to read this one with no problem.

This was an amazing book about Peyton who after fighting cancer and a double mastectomy, wrote a memoir of her experience, both ups and downs. Her brother, Logan documented with photos .

She did a press tour in Europe with her publicist which was delightful as Peyton had prior been a writer for travel reviews and wanted so bad to skip the readings and signings and see her favorite spots, which a few times she was able to do.

She and her publicist were so different, he was all about work. I love how Peyton began changing that in him.

There are many insightful and moving parts of the book.

Very much enjoyed it.

The Wonder of Now by Jamie Beck a wonder of a four-star read. This is number three in the Sanctuary Sound series, I have read and enjoyed the first two novels in this series and enjoyed them in order as they build, and we get to more of the characters that we have grown to love. That being said I enjoyed finally getting the chance to really get to know Peyton, watch her as she gets to know herself again. Throw in her complete opposite Mitch, and some added dramas and you have a great story. I have oversimplified there but you need to read this series, it is filled with deepness and drama and will surprise you all the way through.

The Wonder of New by Jamie Beck drew me in from the first page and held my interest until the last page.
The writing is beautifully done, the plot well paced and the storyline brought out all the feels.
I loved watching Peyton and Mitch come together, they had a strong connection and I found them to be perfect for each other.

Overall, The Wonder of New is a beautiful addition to the Sanctuary Sound Series and I highly recommend it.

Full of lessons in life

Another wonderful book from Jamie Beck. The series itself is full of valuable lessons and learnings. Every story tells of hope, reconciliation, acceptance, forgive and love. This one in particular added courage to face the threat of death due to cancer, living life one day at a time, enjoyfing every moment of it by giving oneself the chance to be happy, to love and be loved. I truly enjoyed reading this. Thank you!

What a wonderful conclusion to this series about three friends with this, Peyton’s story. Her reputation was a little murky when the reader is first introduced to her. However, in this book we learn more about her as she battles cancer, which no one deserves. There is more to Peyton as she is redeemed in her book.

I have enjoyed all of Jamie Beck’s books so far, and this one surely didn’t disappoint. A very raw, real story that keeps the reader wanting more.
