Characters aren’t developed enough. Some aspects are overemphasised. Does not carry the sane charm as the first book. Ever since halfway the second book the series has been going downhill.
What an incredible read. This book contains the greatest completion of a series ever. First of all this series is unlike anything else that Mrs Rice has written to date. This is such a breath of fresh air and a wonderful deviation from her normal great reads. This book deals with magic and time travel all reimagined into a new form. A truly wonderful tale. I sort of hope that the author revisits Oliver Blue sometimes in the future. As he is such a great character in a very well created world. This book is a well written story told by a master Craftsman. A truly must read. I was given a copy of of this book in exchange for an honest review. This in no way has influenced this review. Yes I am appreciative for the opportunity to read such a fun series. But I truly enjoyed the book.
Oliver Blue and his companions are on a mission through time to save the School for Seers, which is crumbling under an attack by the Obsidians. In a final effort, Professor Amethyst sends them through a portal to find the Scepter of Fire – a powerful tool to heal the school’s magic – but the portal splits them into two groups. A team of Obsidians led by Oliver’s stepbrother Chris is right behind them.
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat! The action is non-stop and you never know what is going to happen next. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary. It captured me right from the start and I finished it in one day!
Even if the characters remain somewhat flat, this is a well-written and engaging story and completion of the Oliver Blue series. We witness how several main characters gain in strength and make use of time-hopping portals while aided by several historical figures. Oliver once again has to fight his brother Chris and meets several other dark entities, all the while reconfiguring timelines for the good. But will the School of Seers be saved along with professor Amethyst, and will Oliver be reunited with his girlfriend Esther? I invite readers from all ages to find out and start reading the series.
As with the other series by Morgan Rice, this one was also a success. It is packed full of adventure and it amazes how Rice, as an author, can seamlessly write from both the male and female perspective of a character with apparent ease. Plus the grasp of historical knowledge, especially in the realm of science, that is integrated in this story to make it a fiction series as well as teetering on historical fiction is awesome. This alone makes it a must-read for young teens and adults. It is entertaining as reading a Rick Riordan book on Percy Jackson. A very enjoyable book and series.
I was given an ARC of this story and I thought it to be an enjoyable read.
It's fast-paced and filled with adventure and action...but it also has meaningful life lessons. The characters fit well into the story and the plot is well-defined with some surprises.
I liked the ideas concerning the magical powers and the historical references made for interesting reading.
This is a great conclusion to a fun and entertaining fantasy YA tale.
I just was not a fan of this ending. I was hoping for more and feel like the action in the 2 previous books was so much more intriguing and captivating. This just was a bore and I was sad that the character just didn’t develop more. It all felt so rushed and just lacked everything. The world building was almost nil also. Sad this is how the author chose to end this series, felt like it was just made to be made.
This book has its magic of its own. Lots of twists and turns. The writting is so strong that the emotions that the book has potrayed can be felt as well. Like you would be able to feel terror, the suspense, thrill, love while reading about the characters. Sadly this is the last book. Will miss ya Oliver blue!
A book to follow Harry and Percy. You can't help but fall in love with Oliver. His background is similar to Harry and the adventures are just as exciting as Percy's.
I just jumped in & started reading the last book 1st.
AND the story was written SO well that I didn't even realize it was the Last Book until I finished IT AND read the credits. Perfect for ALL ages that crave High Adventure mixed with just the right touch of fantasy. 😀
Me encanta que sigan apareciendo personajes históricos para apoyar al protagonista. No sé si es el final de la saga pero le doy 4 estrellas solo por como terminaron los obsidianos, creo que faltó saber un poco más qué pasó ahí.
