New from Raven J. Spencer - Murder, intrigue and sensual
Detective Colby Jackson has the perfect A career she is passionate about, and a wife who loves her and understands her better than anyone. Colby’s perception is shattered when Adrianne makes a confession. She has met and fallen in love with another woman, Macy, insisting that she still loves Colby and wants to be with her. Colby’s reaction is shock. Confusion and curiosity follow. Can you be in love with two people at the same time? How would this work in their busy everyday lives?
The three women will have to learn to navigate a world they didn’t even know existed, and that comes with many surprises.
Raven J. Spencer, lesbian, married, loves everything sensual and indulgent which led her to write erotic romance and fantasies. When she's not writing, you can often find her on Pinterest in the pursuit of inspiration.
3.75 Stars. I ended up enjoying this novella more than I expected too. I must admit it did mess with my head a bit. Imagine if your wife of there years came home and told you she was in love with someone else, but still wanted to be with you. I would not take that very well. I have no issues with people in poly relationships, but I think that is something to be discussed at the beginning of a relationship, not after 3 years of marriage. Plus, in this book you are in the headspace of the main character Colby, who just had this info sprung on her, so you feel for what she is going thorough. I found Colby to be very likeable so it was hard to not be mad at her wife. However, this book shifts and the situation changes and I found myself all wrapped up in it.
On top of the relationship issues, Colby is a detective so there is a mini murder investigation thrown into the story. It not a great mystery, but the book is really readable and felt very substantive for a novella.
I’m surprised to say that I ended up enjoying this. I like books that can mess with your head a little. And with this being free with Kindle Unlimited you can take a chance to see if it works for you too.

I have a shelf name peanut butter and jelly where I stash away my guilty pleasure menage/polyamorous books. As much as I enjoy reading them, I always wonder if its possible to love your partners equally or you'll favor one over another. As this is my first F-F-F read, the others are usually M-F-M or M-M-F, I do not know what to expect but I do give myself a pat on the back for taking the plunge.
What else should Colby and I feel except for Anger, Confusion, Sadness, Betrayal and Jealousy when her wife confess to her that she's in love with another woman and would like to pursue a relationship with such person. Colby is a better person than I am as I would have asked her to choose there and then as most of you know of my cake consuming / keeping policy.
The other woman immediately gets on my shit list along with Adrianne B. U. T. from the moment Colby and Macy meet for the very awkward meeting, I have a sneaky suspicion that the chemistry / romance between Colby and Macy will cause more explosions, will be more interesting to read than between Adrianne + Colby + Macy. Am I right?
The author makes a good move by not focusing on the polyamorous storyline only, she gives another plot to focus on and it's quite interesting and engaging as I don't have the urge to skim.
The sex scenes - panty - melting. However, I need to emphasize that this book is not smut . You will feel whatever the characters are feeling - the ugly / the beautiful. This is more than just a quick roll in the hay, this story takes you out of your comfort zone, throws you on the ground as 22 players kick you all over the field, picks you up after and gives you a couple bottles of Gatorade, some signed jerseys and sends you away until the next scene where these three women need to figure out what they want and are they willing to go after it when there are more cons than pros.
Kudos to the author for taking the risk and delivering a great story. Hang on, don't get up to collect your award just yet. Since I hate and love this story at the same time, your award will be sent through the mail.
Its really hard to rate this one. I liked it but first few chapters made me angry. Colby and Adrienne are married for 3 years. One morning, after a hot night of sex and I love you's Adrinne informs Colby that she is in Love with another person but still in love with Colby. Adrienne did it bad, I mean maybe she should have explained about poly relationship first, not jumping into I met someone. But anyway Colby so patient and so in love with Adrienne, so she actually handled it well. I felt my heart clenching in beginning of the book. But the book grew on me. This book is in first person pov. Its best for the book but I still wanted to know what are Macey and Adrienne's thoughts. There is mystery element in book because Colby is a cop and Adrienne is a PI. But it was kind of boring. 3.75*
This was my first time reading a poly book. Was this a good intro to poly? Hmm... I'm not so sure.
For a novella, I think Spencer bit off more than she can chew here.
The initial dialogues Colby and Adrianne had were weird ‘cause they didn't sound like a married couple talking. I was hoping for more delicacy when Adrianne told Colby she was in love with another woman, but it fell a little short on that. It was as if Adrianne couldn't assuage Colby’s hurt first before jumping to make Colby see the possibilities in their situation.
To me, mixing in criminal cases hurt the story more than it helped. I didn't like how Colby’s mind was all over the place. Like when she was meeting Macy for the first time, her mind suddenly wandered off to the murder case she was working on, and vice versa. I wasn't sure that was believable if you’ve got the other woman your wife wanted to be intimate with right in front of you.
There was also the element of insta-love here, and also cheating, but it wasn't addressed as such and the other partner was miraculously fine with it.
IDK. This triad's dynamic was weird for me. Either this would've worked better if it wasn't a novella or if it concentrated on the romance. 'Cause honestly? The criminal cases were nothing to write home about.
This was a nice introduction to polyamory, other books I've read were fantasy books where to me anything pretty much goes. This is the first book I've read where it's an every day, life in general scenario.
I can't say I've ever thought about polyamory before and probably would have reacted just as Colby did if my partner said they were in love with someone else. I'd be gutted thinking I'm being cheated on. I wouldn't know how I'd behave in this situation but Spencer writes a great story about how Colby learns, adapts and accepts Adrianne's needs/wants and Macy's too.
I think these three got lucky... in more ways than one. And yes, this story gets really steamy.

I think the story was layered nicely. Everyone involved was no onboard. The concerns, questions, and workability of a triad are complicated. No one can feel slighted. Honesty above all. It is worth the read. I would actually like to read more. Next book, please.
A new review and rating. Three to Tango by Raven J. Spencer I reread this after a year. I have reevaluated my thoughts and feelings. It is still a wonderful book but 5 stars instead of 4. It is a wonderful layering of everyday life in the rat race and the life we decide on. They can be miles apart in feelings and actions. I wonder how I would respond in the same circumstances. Do I keep a clear head? Do I go off the wall and destroy even what I have? Do I try and be creative? Raven lays out all the options that can be explored. She presents choices to Colby, Adrianne, and Macy. When your future is on the table I believe, being honest about thoughts and feelings is the best way to proceed. This is a very good book addressing polyamory. It is nice to see how these very different women handle it.
This story is well written as usual for Ms Spencer and it gave me lots to consider. I liked the mystery and the love story between the two mains. Polyamory is not for me and parts of the story were cringeworthy because of it.
This was a first for me. I’ve never read a book with a poly relationship. It’s unknown territory for me, and I honestly have a bit of a hard time wrapping my head around it. I have so many questions, and so many inquiries. I just can’t see any possible way it’ll work in the long run. That made it feel a bit too idealistic and unrealistic, which dragged the rating down for me.
None the less, I still found it interesting and nice enough to read. So I guess I could recommend it, if you would like to read about a poly couple with some questionable morals... and a bit of angst to sprinkle on top. I’m a sucker for angst, so naturally I wanted more of it.
I just don’t think this book was a good fit for me, but it might as well be for you. However if this is your first Spencer novel, I’d steer clear. Go for the “Surrender” series instead. It’s much better.
The only thing that bothered me was that this could have been a full length novel. I would like to get to know the characters better. It is a wonderful story nonetheless.
I cannot say that I agree with the concept, but I believe it is possible that it is more common than I realize. Given that, I still find Spencer's writing captivating. She creates characters you can relate with one moment and next find yourself wanting to throttle her. She lets you get into the mind of her characters and gives you a different perspective on life and relationships. This isn't your typical romantic premise and despite your personal thoughts on the idea, Spencer writes a very compelling story. She goes beyond traditional boundaries and allows the reader to stretch their intellectual views, whether or not you agree, at least you will have expanded your horizons and perhaps opened your mind to a new level of acceptance for alternative lifestyles. I never give spoilers, so you will just have to read the synopsis to see if this is a book for you. But if you are a fan of Spencer, you will want to check it out, as it combines mystery with personal drama and tackles a topic that can be touchy. It is definitely a book that will stay in your mind for a long time.
This is the first book by this author that I have read. It is also the first Polyamorous book that I have read. I enjoyed the book more for the murder investigation than for the relationship between Colby, Adrianna, and Macy. I only wish the investigation went on a little longer and that the book in itself was a little longer. Don't get me wrong, I did like the characters, it is just, to me, when you are a married couple and you want to bring someone else into the relationship, to me it feels like you are cheating on them, even if you have the consent of the other. Had it been at the start of their relationship then I might be on board with it a little more. Just my opinion. Having more than one partner isn't for everyone. The book is a good read.
I think I need to read more books like this to know whether I like them or not.
If you are doing Jae's reader challenge then this book would fit the category of Polyamorous relationship.
Is it possible to fall in love with more than one person? Raven takes a look at the possibility in this three way love story! It was an interesting read. Something a bit different from this author. It had me saying Hmmmm? in some parts & Oh yeah in others!
Raven Spencer’s Three to Tango is the story of what happens when one spouse seeks to alter what’s been a monogamous marriage to pursue a polyamorous liaison with another woman.
Adrienne blindsides her wife Colby by announcing she’s fallen in love with a business acquaintance, Macy, and wants Colby’s approval to engage in a polyamorous relationship with her.
Colby reacts with fear, jealousy and anger but trusts Adrienne’s assertions that 1) her attraction to Macy does not diminish in any way their marriage and her love for Colby; and 2) she and Macy agree that they won’t become involved if Colby cannot accept the arrangement.
Questions arise for Colby, of course, as she considers why and how she might share her partner with someone else, but the idea of polyamory arouses unexpected feelings in Adrienne and Macy as well.
The story offers readers a surprisingly sunny story and an HEA, but there was little depth to the three main characters or any explanation for Adrienne’s sudden, strong push for polyamory.
A successful polyamorous lifestyle can be difficult to navigate, especially in American culture, and if it’s not an arrangement partners have ever considered. But Three to Tango, for the most part, ignores polyamory’s complexity and underestimates any problems that might arise.
To begin with I think the author wrote a beautiful Triad novel. However, I almost gave it a 4 🤨. Why ? You ask😇. This is in no way a criticism of the the literary quality of the work. On the contrary, I think she no only could have, but should have contributed here exploration of the very heart of the topic. There should have been an epilogue. 6 months later. 1 year later. It’s not so much the possibility of such a tenuous relationship existing and working in the romantic present, but rather the durability of it! 2/3 of all m/f, m/m, f/f marriages ( or committed relationships fail) Where will these 3 lesbians find themselves after the “honeymoon” has passed. Where/how do they see themselves and their relationship going. I hope these three women find long lasting happiness, however Ms. Spencer leaves it totally up to the reader to make that projection. Having said all that, I think this was valuable reading experience and I think was very worthwhile reading 👍
Colby is forced to examine her marriage after Adrianne announces she wants them to be in a polyamorous relationship with Macy. With this announcement Adrianne also reveals that she has fallen in love with Macy. With Colby being a monogamous woman, she has to figure out if she can open up her mind. Because if it's not Macy, can there be others? All three women set out on a journey to test waters and explore boundaries. All of this happening while Colby is trying to solve a murder. Adrianne is trying to find a missing person case and stumbles on another murder. These two must figure out if the cases are related. I'm usually enthralled when reading a Spencer book. For some reason this one just didn't do it for me. It wasn't bad, but it just felt a bit rushed to me. I was never able to fully commit to the story or the characters. I'm still a fan and will continue to read her work.
When your wife wants to introduce you to her girlfriend
What is a woman supposed to do when her wife wants to introduce her to the woman she wants as her girlfriend? That's what Colby is trying to figure out after her wife, Adrianne, tells her about Marcy, the woman she's fallen in love with. How will she manage to make a decision while she's also struggling to solve a horrifically gruesome murder with no leads knowing that this killer is highly likely to kill again??
This B&B is a different story and read. The story of two women marred when one falls in love with another bit still loves her wife. .This is there story and how they make it work. The author Raven J. Spencer did an wonderful job writing this book. Worth a read and recommended.
Didn't know I was looking for this until Ms. Spencer posted it. A great story with three great characters. A story of love, one that must people think is wrong. Spencer has put this story together in a way that you can't help but think and feel about all off it
A very interesting story but without giving more details about the plot...a mixed of feelings for me, not sure if you can be in love with two people when it is about only physical reaction.
I love polyamorous ff+ stories but this one was not it. I think it's mostly dues to the pacing; it's too rushed.
Colby, the narrator, jumped from being understandably shocked that her wife (Adrienne) wants to date outside of their marriage to fantasizing about Macy (the other woman) and then cheating on her wife with Macy in like 5 pages?!
Lol, I'm not 100% sure it was 5 pages because I'm reading an e-copy of this but that's what it felt like!
Also, Colby cheated on her wife. Ew. Adrianne doesn't address it probably because she feels guilty for springing another woman on her wife but f#@k that.
Adrienne was a little abrupt in how she brought it up but she did! And she didn't start dating Macy until after she discussed it with Colby.
Meanwhile Colby is thinking about sleeping with Macy to get back at Adrienne. She literally just wants to do it first 😑
Colby just wasn't likeable as a main character.

Monogamy has been the way we live in the USA. I've never thought about if it's good or bad, right or wrong...it just is. The beginning of the book made me feel unsettled, especially when Colby was having doubts and a little resentment. But as I got into the story, as relationships developed, I began to see that it was all about love and trust and happiness. All in all, I would just say... Well done.
I don't know if I would have been able to handle this kind of relationship when I was younger but this story paints in a fashion that I realize, while extremely complicated, is possible. I found the emotional turmoil and the doughts/insecurities so very real. Such a well written story.
