This is a MUST-HAVE book for anyone who wants to be a professional party reader. That's not a job for everyone, that's for sure. Jenna Matlin, who also wrote Have Tarot, Will Travel, has given us a meaty book that includes pitfalls and worksheets. She goes over contracts as well as how to find those party gigs.
Matlin demystifies party readers as well as points out difficult hosts and other things you might not even be aware of.
Do yourself a favor. GET THIS BOOK. I'm a professional reader with over 44 years experience. I learned things from this book. :D

This is such a helpful, thorough, excellent book. She mentions in the intro that this is a niche subject in an already niche genre (tarot) and that the book was a labor of love for her. It is much appreciated.
Some how-to books feel like they’re stuffed with filler, but here almost every page is useful. I underlined a lot LOL. She addresses the business side of tarot, the types of customers you get (many I already recognize), difficult scenarios you may run into, and how to take care of yourself in various situations.
This is an invaluable resource for anyone thinking about marketing their tarot practice. It is also a very succinct, fast read. I really have no complaints. I will stop gushing now.

Jenna Matlin is one of my favorite people in the tarot world! It is because of her that my own experience with tarot parties and events started so smoothly and was so successful. She is a master of party readings and tarot events, and it was her tips that gave me everything I needed to get myself off the ground and booking events so quickly. I booked several company events right off the bat, and had a few repeat corporate clients who hired me for several months every year for their customer appreciation events for all their company branches, which was amazing for me, and I don't think I could've done it so easily if it wasn't for Jenna Matlin's guidance.
There are lots of practical gems in this book, pricing yourself so that you are valued, documenting your interactions in case of any issues, asking for referrals whenever possible, making sure you have backup plans, equipping yourself for everything you need, and so on. If you are remotely interested in doing tarot parties or events, do yourself a favor and get this book. Jenna Matlin is the best resource you will find on this topic!

What a comprehensive read on a fine-tuned subject! This book definitely confines its subject matter to tarot parties... not to festivals, not to private reading- for parties. This allows her to go very deep and specific on all components of a tarot party situation... from getting your name out there to logistics to different audiences and settings to things you might not have considered... such as repetitive motion injuries, losing your voice, and setting all kinds of boundaries. Principally, she is very encouraging when it comes to making sure you take care of you- professionally, emotionally, and spiritually - throughout the process. The writing style is very easy to take in - it feels like you are chatting with your good friend. Jenna Matlin brings a lot of sage advice, wins, and some sorely-felt lessons-learned to this tarot party table. The appendix is a treasure trove of useful documents and lists which can be easily modified to your liking. Thank you, Jenna Matlin, this isn't just a book, it's an incredibly useful tool.

A fun and practical guide full of real-world advice for doing tarot readings at parties and events. Matlin covers everything: from how to handle a drunk guest, to using contracts and invoices, to sneaking in a bathroom break when there’s a long line, to giving readings to couples when one person is clearly just pretending to be in love.
I appreciate how much care and experience she poured into this book. You can tell she genuinely loves her work and wants to help others succeed. I quickly realized I’m not built to be a party reader like ever, but this made me wish every job had a book like this, one that shows what the day-to-day is actually like beyond the “glamorous” part. It reminded me of when I learned the importance of time management and customer service on top of caring for the animals as a pet sitter (and to always pack additional 💩 bags, and to remember what does each client’s key looks like so you dont need to try all 10 and look like an amateur criminal to all their neighbors))

Imagine sitting down with a friend and having her explain the ins and outs of reading at gatherings and you will understand the feelings you will have reading this book. In fact, that's about what it was like for me: I sat with a cup of tea and enjoyed this book.
She doesn't put any fluff in her book; she shares her knowledge in a conversational manner that will makes for an enjoyable read and is easy for you to remember her points and ideas. I highly recommend her book and know you will find plenty of good info that you can truly use.

This book is a little gem and is useful if you are a novice to the tarot party scene or if you, like me, have read them in the past. Great information presented in an upbeat professional manner. Jenna shares a wealth if information here to get you started and improve upon your current tarot party style. Her tips will save you time and money and more importantly will give suggestions to increase your business success.

I got this book for some tips for reading at a small holiday party later this year. It was quite helpful and focused.
One thing that I would have liked more: I don't read in a predictive, fortune-teller sense, and it would have been nice to learn how to read tarot at a party in different ways than just predictively.
Other than that, this book covered a lot of the things I was wondering about and was a charming, easy read.

An amazing book for anyone that thinks to start a tarot or even a metaphysical business. For, if you are already starting the entrepreneur path you are going to get some from this awesome book. It's really practical, with all the tips, tricks, and guides to help you get the best experience as an owner business but also to give the best experience for your clients. Even help me how to manage reading with a group of friends, or clients.

Quick read with lots of info
This is a great resource for anyone thinking about doing tarot readings for parties. I feel the author gave a lot of information for anyone to get started in the party reading business and with some frosting on top. She shares different scenarios of her both her fails and her wins. Enough that as long as you apply her advice to your situations everything should go fairly smooth for you on your journey into party readings. And a plus is she shares a resource to her handouts, forms and contracts. That's always a win. Jenna Marlin truly went the extra mile here.

What a gem this book is - a huge benefit to any reader looking to book events. How lucky we are that Jenna Matlin gave us all the hard earned knowledge. Info on how to be professional and inviting, proper pricing, how to communicate with people who are booking you, where to find more event bookings. Super helpful for anyone looking to grow their tarot biz in this way. Clear, concise, on point.

This is such a great little book! So helpful and packed with lots of practical tips. I loved that this focused on the logistics of reading at events - most of the tarot books I've read deal specifically with the reading side. This was super helpful and well organized.
