Jennifer loves reading and writing clean romance. She believes that happily ever after is not just for stories. Jennifer enjoys interior design, rollerblading, clogging, jogging, and chocolate. In Jennifer’s opinion there are few ills that can’t be solved with a warm brownie and scoop of vanilla-bean ice cream. Jennifer grew up in rural Alabama and loved living in a town where “everybody knows everybody.” Her love for writing began as a young teenager when she wrote stories for her high school English teacher to critique. Jennifer has a BA in English and Social Sciences from Brigham Young University Hawaii where she served as Miss BYU Hawaii. Before becoming an author, she worked as the owner and editor of a monthly newspaper named The Senior Times. She now lives in the Rocky Mountains with her family and spends her time writing and doing all of the wonderful things that make up the life of a busy wife and mother.
I loved this book! It's by Jennifer Youngblood so how could I not?
Rigby wasn't surprised when he got suspended from the Georgia Patriots after punching a reporter. To get out of the media's sights, going home and spending time with his grandmother seemed like a good idea. But going there meant he would see his first love, Scarlett, and that wasn't such a good idea because he still loved her even though she had broken his heart. Before he even got to see her, the town gossips told him she was engaged. That news was so painful that he knew he had to keep his distance from her. But Scarlett and her grandfather lived next door to his grandmother so it wasn't long before he ran into them. The grandfather had always hated him but it had gotten worse over the past couple of years since he'd been away.
Rigby was a kind, thoughtful man who would do anything for his grandmother. Even paint her house. Imagine a top quarterback house painting in rural Alabama. No wonder Rigby never got over Scarlett. Not only was she beautiful, but a good person. Instead of having her own place, she had decided to live with her grandfather so she could look out him. She had been devastated when Rigby was drafted to the Patriots. Lucky for her, Vernon was there to comfort her. That man sure had changed over the years. In high school, he was a bit of a geek known as Vernie but now was a doctor. Vernon was a mystery. Was he really as good a person as he appeared?
This was a beautiful clean second chance romance that had me rooting for Rigby and Scarlett to work it out.
Rigby is back home to be with his grandmother Coralee, after his eight week suspension from the Patriots after slugging the slime ball reporter, Miles Devlin, all because he wants to rile Rigby up about his ex-wife Sadonna. Oh well he's home! All the memories come back, especially when the first person he sees is his next door neighbor, Douglas Foster, who doesn't like Rigby! His first thought is of the one and only person he has ever truly loved, the man's granddaughter Scarlet. Then Sadie Lynn comes across the street to welcome him home, and, to share a little news of course. Only she tells him that Scarlet is engaged to Dr. Vernon Stanley. Vernie? How on earth did Scarlet fall for the high school nerd? Oh so much happens in this amazing story by Jennifer Youngblood you wont want to put it down!
Wow! What a great book ,just finished this book and loved it from start to finish. This book deals with truth and lies and how people who try to run other lives end up ruining their own. Vernon thought he was doing himself a favour by putting the wrong ideas in Douglas head therefore getting him to hate The Rocket who was in love with his grand daughter. This is a great Free story and I was happy to read it. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
I wasn't sure that this was going to be a story I enjoyed, not really being a big football fan. However, I was very wrong. This writer has great characters, a fantastic story line, and the little bit of mischief from the characters along the way really drew me in. The final plus was it talked about parts of my home state very realistically and had being southern down to an art. Definitely an author I will be reading more of.
OH I loved this book! Scarlett and Rocket are meant to be, but some people just don't want to let that happen. It's sad when poisoning a relationship is the goal but there are people out there who just want to do whatever it takes to get what they want vice what is right. This story reminds me that GOOD can be found and it's still out there, you just have to fight for what is right!
Scarlett and Rigby are great together! I always like a bit of intrigue with my romance. The Hot Headed Patriot does an excellent job with that. And a grandfather you want to hate, but you really can’t just adds to the enjoyment. I love Rigby and Scarlett’s story. Swoon!!!
Great suspense! Plots within plots. Loved the romances. Small town charm and gossip at its best. I love the fair and all the contests they have. This book made you feel like you were right there in the town celebrating and eating at the Magnolia with everyone. Bravo!
This story about Rigby and Scarlet was a heartwarming and pleasing story. There were twists, turns and surprises that made the story interesting and entertaining. The problem Rigby had with his temper and stress was understandable. There was a great castor characters that kept the pages turning. It was an uplifting romance.
This novel was okay, not the best that I have read but definitely not the worst. I enjoyed this book for the majority of the storyline but towards the end I felt it was too drawn out. I wish they could have wrapped it up a little sooner, I feel like it would have worked out better.
Then you will definitely like this one. I love the way the author makes the characters so straightforward with one another. No behind your back deception. Its a clean christian based romance. With love and respect for the lord which in turn makes for a happy ending. A fantastic read!.
I really enjoyed this story! It was sweet, the characters grew together and it had a unique flair with football and a small town. I would rate it sweet, clean, and PG.
This is a book with loveable characters and story that you easily fall in love with but it also a story of forgiving yourself and others as well as not judging people by how they look but by their action.
This is a sweet and charming second chance romance with adorable and sassy characters that will pull you in from the very beginning til the end definitely must read.
What a great book. It is about childhood sweethearts, broken hearts and second chances. If you like this book, you will love the rest of Jennifer Youngblood's books!
A fun romance with a good storyline, fun, compassionate characters everyone needs in life and evil, selfish, manipulative people no one needs. I look forward to more of Jennifer Youngblood ' s well-written books.
I first read this book as The Perfect Catch. Happy to read it again with the updates. That Vernon! What a character! Looking forward to the next Patriot story.
I loved this book! It was so good i could not put it down! I love these kinds of books and stories! Clean and sweet romance all the way. Check it out and you won't be disappointed!!
Two former school friends and lovers finally reunite years later. When Rigby returns to town after his suspension, not only to be given a second chance at romance, but to a town full of gossip and lies.
Well guess I should say I enjoyed this book, I read it in one seating. Yes I have read other books by Jennifer Youngblood and she has done it again with her story telling. I just could not put this book down till I finished it.
He’s a quarterback with a temper and spends his suspension in his hometown. She’s the love lost and he’s going to get her back. They work through the issues with difficulty and get married in the end.
Rigby's and Scarlett's story was a great start to what promises to be a wonderful clean romance series! Loved how those who tried to come against their love fell on their faces.
I enjoyed this story about a football player with a short fuse. I felt sorry for him because he put in situations where people were trying to get a reaction from him. He need someone to help him work through the situation in a calming way and found her.
This is a very good story about Rigby and Scarlett. Being a famous football 🏈 player is a challenge for your life. Reading this story brings out what it entails to be famous. I look forward to reading the next book.
I really enjoy reading these Jennifer Youngblood novels because it’s just so amusing and interesting to see how the female characters interact and process information. Two thumbs up for this one! 👍🏻👍🏻
A fast, clean, fun book. Everyone deserves a second chance. It's amazing to me how easy it is to have a misunderstanding that is blown way out of proportion.
