This is the 4th book in the Amigos series of adventuresReviewsMy fourth Ketan Joshi book in a row ... and I found it to be an extremely exhilarating read. Adventure and humour and history- make his books worth reading and especially the bikers would be able to relate to the interesting information in the book which will certainly be helpful. A Must Read! Ketan's writing makes us believe that we are living the adventures with them. Go for it and read it, travelling doesn't get any better than this!!Ketan's books are always a dose of happiness for me. The way he writes about his journey is out of the league of other travelogues. He makes hilarious every turn on the road as well as every event. Riding in the Himalayas, to Ladakh in the first book, and to Spiti valley in the next, this time Amigos hop on their bikes and head towards the the most dangerous road in the world ('as has been named by Indian motorists...opinions may differ')The author paints a colourful travelogue of Indian history, geography and local customs that I found fascinating. A motorcyclist myself, I find that I share a love of two-wheeled travel with the Amigos even though we are half a world away from each other. If you enjoy travel books and you like motorcycle travel in particular, this book is a must-read!‘He's easily one of the most gifted authors in India. If there's any Indian author that you like and you pick up Ketan Joshi's book, he'll kick out your favourite author by a mile! He's absolutely amazing!’ ‘Hats off to Ketan! One of the greatest Indian authors IMO! I pray that he keeps on writing book after book! He's the PG Wodehouse of India.’ About the author : Ketan Joshi is a biker, backpacker and travel writer. He has travelled the length and breadth of India, and has travelled to more than 50 countries around the world.. He is the author of 17 books - including the ‘Three Men on Motorcycles’ and the ‘One Man Goes Backpacking’ series, and also has a podcast and youtube channel.
Ketan Joshi is the author of the ‘Three Men on Motorcycles’ series - a humorous travel-adventure series about him and his friends - the ‘Amigos’- riding their Royal Enfield motorcycles across far-flung parts of India - Ladakh, Spiti, Coorg, Kishtawar, Killar, Saurashtra, Rajasthan, etc.
Before he got into motorcycle touring, he was a backpacker and trekker- having travelled all across India and nearby countries with his Lonely Planet. He writes about his early backpacking travels in a different series - ‘One man goes backpacking’.
Ketan is an MBA from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai and worked as a Sales and Marketing professional for over 20 years, before jumping ship to become a full time traveller and writer.
Apart from travel books, Ketan has written 2 books of detective fiction featuring the eponymous detective ‘Dipy Singh’ , one book of short stories - ‘Bombay Thrillers’ - and one textbook on Marketing.
Ketan’s writing has been praised for being humorous, easy to read, yet extremely informative and practical - and having a very unique Indian style.
Ketan's books are always a dose of happiness for me. The way he writes about his journey is out of league of other travelogues. He makes hilarious every turn on the road as well as every event. Riding in the Himalayas, to Ladakh in the first book, and to Spiti valley in the next, this time Amigos hop on their bikes and head towards the Cliffhanger: the most dangerous road in the world ('as has been named by Indian motorists...opinions may differ'), the road from Kishtwar to Killar. And they go some steps further to ride to Sach Pass, Shingo La, Jispa, Manali, leh, Khardung La, Dah, Hanoo valley, Trilokinath, Nubra Valley, and many more and then explore ends of India at some places. Their adventures and misadventures make the reading more exciting. Bonus points are self-explanatory pictures. This time Ketan didn't stop at stressing on writing about ride only; there are beautiful descriptions of landscape, history, people and customs. So in this way, he has presented a striking travelogue full of adventure. A must read for bike lovers and adventurous travellers.
I have enjoyed the previous three adventures of the Amigos as they traveled through India on their Royal Enfield thumpers. This book is a continuation of their travels that I hope you will find as enjoyable as I have. The author also paints a colorful travelogue of Indian history, geography and local customs that I found fascinating. A motorcyclist myself I find that I share a love of two wheeled travel with the Amigos even though we are half a world away from each other. If you enjoy travel books and you like motorcycle travel in particular, this book is a must read!
