Ever since sixteen-year-old Lucy Hernandez found out she can travel in time her life hasn’t been the same. Now she has to regularly meet with Mr. Harris—a sixty-year-old historian with whom she shares a distant ancestor—as he is her time-travel master. On their missions, Lucy and Mr. Harris travel to different periods so they can warn young Time Travelers about their powers and convince them not to go back in time under any circumstances since changing past events can have catastrophic consequences.
In one of their missions, to the First Crusade, things go terribly wrong. The Traveler they are supposed to warn doesn’t want to listen. His brother, a young knight called Liam Marshall, interferes to protect Lucy and she ends up accidentally bringing him to the 21st century.
Now that Liam’s younger brother knows about his special power, he plans on using it to make Liam not be born so he can be the only son and, therefore, inherit their father’s lands. To protect Liam, Lucy has to keep him hidden in her bedroom while her parents are traveling, at least until she, Mr. Harris and Liam can come up with a solution to the problem. But including a medieval knight in her routine in contemporary Florida and making him go unnoticed won’t be the easiest of the tasks. And things get even more complicated when she realizes she is falling in love with him…

Half Moon (Time Traveler's Trilogy) by Paula Ottoni is a YA time traveling romance. This is the 1st book in a planned trilogy. It follows Lucy, a teenage girl who likes to hang out with her friends and sing in her brother's rock band, and who just happens to be able to time travel. Lucy is mentored by Mr. Harris and she learns about the family background that gives her the power to time travel. She also learns the rules of time travel. And she learns that there are only 6 time travelers currently living and they are tasked with going back in time to teach other time travelers about the dangers of time travel. On one of her missions to the past, things go very wrong and Lucy accidentally brings Liam, a crusader knight, to the present with her. This story is very well written and the plot flows smoothly and has a lot of action. The characters are well developed and interesting. Lucy is such a typical teen. She doesn't want this time traveling power or responsibility but she goes on missions because she knows they're important. She is also very protective of the people she cares about. Liam is the perfect knight - protective, chivalrous, and strong. My one complaint with this book was that Liam adjusted to modern life so easily. It seemed unrealistic to me. I didn't think a crusader knight would be able to adjust so quickly to all the modern advances and would accept everything that happened so easily. Overall, I enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the trilogy.

Half Moon is a light and funny story about a girl who can travel through time. A well written book, with lovable characters and an interesting plot. Recommended.
Overall, this was a fun and fast paced book!! I loved the concept - I’m a sucker for time travel. Besides a few confusing sentences here and there, I really enjoyed all of the plot and the characters. This would be an awesome gift for high schoolers!
