I'm good at exactly two things: motocross racing and casual sex. Or I was good at the second one until I met Lucy Salcido. She's a reporter for MotoRacer magazine, and she's been "embedded" with my team ever since I came out of nowhere to lead the championship series this year. Having her around all the time has definitely put a crimp in my style. It's tough to pick up a new girl after every race when Lucy's there, watching me. Judging me. And it doesn't help that she's the girl I really want: all sexy brown skin, big eyes, soft curves, and the kind of smart that should make a guy like me—who barely graduated high school—quake in his dirt bike boots but just makes me hot and hard.
But I don't do relationships. I can't. Not when I'm on the road all the time. Not when I've got no prospects for being anywhere else. A girl like Lucy doesn't want a guy like me. Or does she?
Lucy
He's everything I don't like in a guy. So why do I want him so hard?
When my editor assigned me to Owen Lenart's racing team, I knew I was going to dislike him before I even met him. Not only is he the kind of cocky bastard you'd expect a crazy dirt biker to be, he's also got a rep for loving and leaving them. Still, he's the hottest racer on the motocross circuit right now, in more ways than one. I am not going to deny that he's easy on the eyes and hard on the circulatory system. He does things to me without even touching me. Not that I think he's interested.
I don't want to be another one of Owen's conquests. Not a little bit. I want it a lot.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This book contains instalust, instalove, and on-the-page descriptions of very spicy Thai food. And also on-the-page descriptions of the other thing you were thinking of when you read the end of that sentence. If you don't like stories where two people fall for each fast and hard, this book is NOT for you. Otherwise, I think you're going to love it. Best, M.A.
I love books like this, a bit of fame element and all the jealousies that brings. I enjoyed this book, well written plots that fall into place easily and characters that felt real. Somehow though it didn't grip me in a can't-put-down way, and I did actually put aside a couple of times for something else. Though its a potentially real story I felt the drama in it fell short for me and maybe that's why I put it down, I just didn't feel the barriers were strong enough for the plot, that there was really a reason for them not to be together. Then the ending, that felt very rushed after the long set up, over in a few short pages of fait accompli, when I want the drama and the answers to really fit the length of the story. I felt as if I'd got to last part of the book and suddenly it was bam, bam, bam, everything neatly sorted and boxed up. As always we all want different things and the parts where I felt it fell short could be what makes it perfect for you.
Holeshot by M.A. Parker is the first book in the Motocrossed series and the first book I have read by this author. Owen is in the running to win the NMA championship and Lucy is a reporter covering his meteoric rise to the top of the standings. Owen feels an instant attraction to Lucy but after barely graduating high school himself, is slightly intimidated by her university education while Lucy feels the same draw but his reputation as “Goin’ Owen” is working against him.
There were parts of this book that I really enjoyed such as when Lucy and Owen went on their date. I felt that the dialogue between them was well written, flowing well and really helped me visualise the scene and I loved the character of Owen but I was left feeling that the ending was a bit rushed with a blackmail plot that cropped up in the story with only 8 minutes reading time left according to my kindle and wasn’t really explained away. I just felt that there should have been more instead the ending was a bit of an anticlimax for me.
Owen is a top Motocross racer and Lucy is the journalist sent to cover his story. They've been attracted to each other since day one but refuse to ask on it. Owen is known as a player, he loves fast bikes and fast women, but that all changes when he meets Lucy. She's holding off on her feelings for more ethical reasons, but what will happen when ethics gets thrown out the window and they can't fight the attraction any longer? Will Lucy lose her job? Will Owen be able to hld the number one spot? This is an engaging read that will capture you from the beginning.

Holeshot is my first read by M.A. Parker and I was captivated by the easy flowing storyline, the interesting plot hat focused on two equally driven people with opposing ethics and careers, and the variety of characters who make this book a thoroughly enjoyable escape. I will definitely be reading more by this talented author.
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.
