In an academy that trains people to deal with monsters and mayhem, there's one challenge even Gryff may not be ready to face: Final Exams. On the plus side, he'll capture a giant armored monster and get to ride around on its shoulder while the beast smites things with its sword.
It’s great when series you invest time in reading improves as you go through, and the summoner series is certainly one of those for me.
I was unsure at the beginning of the series but now having completed book 4 I can safely say this is a great series to get into, and I greatly look forward to a book 5
Once again the author delivered a book that entertains. The MC continues to grow in power and develop a closer bond with his friends. This book spent a lot of.time on the development of his friends and that was very nice to see how they are becoming more powerful. The pacing was good and the action was well written and fun to read. Overall it was fun to read and I recommend it to anyone who likes the Anime shows with lots of action.
I think this series is getting even better. I find myself emotionally invested in each of the characters. The story is very interesting and while there are some aspects that I don't think make sense, those issues in no way take away from my enjoyment. I really enjoy the relationships between Gryff and all his friends/lovers. What I am most impressed with is the fighting. Gryff and his friends continue to use different tactics in order to beat their enemies. There are at least 5 new types of summoned creatures each book with new and amazing capabilities. I think the cover art and the title do a disservice to how good a story this series really is. Looking at the cover art, I think of maybe a fun, cute story that has a lot of sex. The story is much more complex than that and the sex described is more about the emotions between the characters than just the physical act. I actually got a little choked up in this book Not quite 5 stars, but it is definitely getting close. I highly recommend this series.
The story keeps getting better except for some huge inconsistent things that you keep changing about the main character. I can't give you give 5 stars with those in the books. The first book your main character Gryff was very good at fencing, fighting and could shoot the bow very well. But in later Books he can't even hit the bullseye. Also later on you made Gryff just ok at fencing. The last two books he carried a short sword now you on made it seem in this story that he only ever carried a dagger. It's almost like you are trying to turn Gryff into a assassin instead of the warrior mage he was in the story. There is no way anyone who is competent using a sword would lose a duel to someone with daggers. You need to have some realism to make the story believable. Besides if he is a warrior mage he would use a short sword at the least especially to fight giant joust sized monsters. You need to fix these inconsistent errors you made with your story.
Really enjoying this series, Eric is one of my favourite authors at the moment and the speed at which he is releasing books of this quality is astonishing. The characters are building nicely and getting more rounded and detailed, enough action to keep it interesting. Will wait patiently for the next book. Thanks Eric. Oh and if you like Sci-fi have a read of his Planet Broker books, underrated for a really good story.
Griff is again "Hero", but that's why we like him. The intensity never wanted in this book as more fighting and incursions happen with predictable results. Geoff is learning new things and gaining new toys for battle. Seems the magic tech is moving forward in response to the increased incursions. Geoff must up his game if he is to keep saving his friends. Looking forward to next book. I hope soon.
The books keep getting better and the plot keeps getting deeper and more interesting. The story always has Ben much like an anime / manga, and we’re coming up on a arc boss, if not something bigger. The characters are developing even more, deepening and becoming more powerful and polished. We’re also seeing more growth in side characters and overall world plot that promises to be very interesting. Can’t wait to see what happens next. Recommended.
The plot has gotten even stronger, the characters and action are interesting. The "recap exposition" has improved, although it still leans into the sexualized physical descriptions of many of the women in the story.
I'm very excited to see that characters who are not plot relavent still grow while 'out of sight' to the reader. Gawain, in particular, is going somewhere interesting, I think.
I like how straightforward the story is. It doesn't get too caught up on minor details and tells you what you need to know. Better than Book 3 in my opinion. Book 3 was like the Harry Potter book where Harry gets mopey and whiny and complains all the time like he's responsible for all the worlds problems and he just gets angry at everybody. Hopefully the books will be more like this one moving forward.
The new monsters Gryff has at his command are really cool and the fights were awesome. I liked that Fawain had some character development and redemption and didn’t stay a one-dimensional foil. It was surprising and made for a better story. Gallahar Kenefick is an interesting character and hopefully we see more of him in the next book
Just wow! This book was so much fun. It wasn't based on just the MC, but the rest of the school too. Everyone gets to fight and show off their magics. Neat to see what the different magic skills can do. Thanks for writing an enjoyable story that kept me untreated throughout the entire book! Looking forward to seeing the next book
Gryff’s adventure continues in book four, the template is the same, which was expected but entertaining regardless. I was hoping for more character development in the supporting cast as well as Gryff, but the story flows well and the action is consistent. There is still plenty of potential well worth reading.
Author has managed to put together a winning formula to produce a decent book. Has all the elements of excitement and adventure of previous books. Unfortunately also has its flaws like its predictability like it's predecessors. But worth a quick read.
If you haven't started this series yet you need to get on it, you're missing out! Gryf and his cohort are doing missions and sealing rifts all while prepping for finals. Politics starts to rear its ugly head as competing agendas from the Mages Council come into play.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. This time, Gryff prepares for his exams after surviving the previous rift. The danger only intensifies for him and his friends. The story and characters were intriguing and engaging. I look forward to reading more about these characters and their further adventures. This book is definitely worth reading.
I hate having to wait for the next bijou in a series come out, especially s this one has developed so well. We shall see what comes next after the events at the end of this book and Gryff's new monsters.
The best of the four in the series. Gryff's life is calm one moment frantic the next. As Gryff's reputation grows an old problem arises. Gryff develops his skills and relationships. A fantastic read.
I have read books 1 thru 4 now and just want to say what a great series this is. Going from the first page of book one to where this is now has been an adventure you should not miss. Can’t wait for this journey to continue far into the future.
In true fantasy fashion this has turned into a epic saga about friendship and the lives of people with whom you love and fight for each other and their world
I wasn’t pleased in the beginning how gryff still can’t control 3 low grade monsters without almost killing himself but by the end he gets a good power boost. Looking forward to him getting stronger and capturing more monsters.
I am really enjoying how the author is handling the build up of the characters. It is a masterful job of bringing in scenarios where each individual can prove themselves and weave their abilities into a very cohesive team! Very excited to start Book 5.
Still very entertaining. Some of the various threads are pulling together and the long arc seems to be developing. Looking forward to more in this unique world.
