Although Costilla is a crippled orphan, he has always had a dream of traveling around the world. The magical forest spirit promises to help him realize the dream on condition that he cant stay for three days at the same place. Costilla walks ceaselessly and is constant to help people all the way for which he is highly esteemed by the people and they persuade him to stay. However, he keeps in mind the precept of no more than three days staying at the same place before he comes across a beloved girl. In order to rescue the girl and her village, he keeps building the dam in the rain for more than three days which violates the precept.
