As a software developer, Lizzie pitches her dating app to a panel of tech billionaires on the national television show Tech Tank, hoping to land the perfect financier to boost her business. It's just her luck the only offer she gets is a provisional contract with the toughest, most skeptical and self-important of the CEOs.Dawson Fitzwilliam isn't a fan of online dating—or dogs, for that matter. Although Lizzie Beckett is so wrong for him in so many ways, Dawson can’t help but fall for the beautiful, headstrong woman.♥♥ Inspired by Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, this full-length sweet/clean contemporary billionaire romance is similar to your favorite Hallmark movie and will bring a smile to your day! Part of the Billionaire Cove series.
Maria Hoagland writes about hearts, homes, and happily ever afters. Known for her fun and flirty sweet romance and women's fiction, Maria's novels make great book club choices. She's published over a dozen books including two Whitney Award finalists, and has no plans to stop writing any time soon.
When Maria is not working at her computer, she can be found combing used furniture stores or remodeling houses with her husband. She loves crunching leaves in the fall, stealing cookie dough from the mixing bowl, and listening to musicals at high volumes.
First of all, I loved the clever ways that names from Jane Austen made an appearance, especially as the story followed a modern Pride and Prejudice pattern. Secondly, my daughter has been begging for a golden doodle (dog) and I loved the role that Austen played in this charming, sweet romance.
Lizzie has developed a new dating app and needs the financial backing to make it fly. Her pitch to billionaire, Dawson, landed her a trial run for a month, which was more than she dared to hope for. I loved the descriptions of the app and the way it worked, especially on a more personal level for both of them.
Dawson, although very wealthy, was a very private person, which really came through in the story. It was hard to get to know him and happened very gradually, just a it would with a person like him in real life. That was a brilliant move, involving the reader in a new dimension. Lizzie is vivacious and sweet, with a very persistent streak and was beloved by all from the start. Of course, Austen, the dog, completely captured my heart. I was fascinated by the training that went into helping Austen become a diabetes service dog.
The story has the perfect amount of pacing, with some parts slower and some parts moving fast. I loved the secondary characters and their roles to developing the story, but I loved the slow blooming romance the most.

I love these Billionaire Bachelor Cove books! They’re all tons of fun. This one was no different.
I loved the way the author of this one loosely based her book on Pride and Prejudice. It was so much fun to find the little references to it in the names of the characters or their actions. The book was just that much more fun because of it!
Lizzie was a great character! She’s just a down to earth young woman. She’s training a dog to be companion for someone with diabetes. And she has created a dating app that matches clients together using their interests. One of my favorite things about her was her bravery. I would never be willing to go on a show like Tech Tank the way she did. It makes me anxious just thinking of it. But Lizzie did it, and she did it brilliantly. I also loved her compassionate nature. Lizzie is just amazing!
Next we have Dawson. I’m not sure I liked his character through out the whole book. But he did have a mansion with a lighthouse attached, so there is that! I liked the way Dawson was willing to take a chance on Lizzie’s app, even though he didn’t want to. He even set up a profile and went on a few dates. And…of course, he had to make a huge blunder in the book. He did a great job at that!
I loved the whole service animal aspect of this one. I’ve never known much about the way you’d train one. And I had no idea that a dog could be trained for the kind of service described in this book. These parts amazed me!
This is a fun romance. It was a nice trip to Seattle for me. And a great walk down memory lane from the Pride and Prejudice parts!
3.5⭐ The plot of P&P has been greatly explored and I was excited to see where would this author go. I liked the beginning - it didn't follow very strictly the original and was a believable modern day version. But... I hate that there is a But - towards the end of the book I lost interest. The drama seemed made up, I didn't feel a conflict at all. And its outcome also felt made up - I couldn't see why they fought and then why they forgave each other. It felt... forced. So yeah... 3,5 stars for me for a book that could have went a solid 4 or even 5. The dog was cute though. I almost wished I had a dog too. :) Narrative: 3rd person following Lizzie and Dawson Religion: none Sensuality: clean
Lizzie Beckett has a matchmaking app that she's pitching to the tech billionaires on Tech Tank, a show similar to Shark Tank, where the billionaires can invest in technology. Lizzie needs help in marketing her app and hopefully getting more funding. She really wants one investor, Dawson Fitzwilliam, to invest. Since he's single, she thinks she can find his match and really launch her app. Dawson is skeptical of the app but is willing to give it 30 days. One thing that doesn't help is that he doesn't want a lot of his personal information given out, but Lizzie does give him a couple dates that really look good. As time goes by, they both begin to have feelings for each other. Dawson decides that he only wants to date Lizzie and tries to figure out how and still keep her and her app going. Lizzie also is training a diabetic alert dog, Austen, and takes him with her everywhere to train him. Dawson isn't fond of dogs but accepts him. When Austen goes to Dawson, Lizzie thinks her training isn't being effective. Will Austen be able to help Dawson with his undiagnosed medical condition, too before it's too late? I liked this story and the research that must have gone into it to get so many details in it.
When Lizzie Beckett pitches her dating app, Capture My Heart on Tech Tank, she never dreamed she would lose her heart in the process. “She is tenacious, independent, and hungry for success.” Dawson Fitzwilliam “comes off as arrogant, pretentious, and critical.” “His brand was on everything from successful apps...to tech gear and gizmos. It was as if he had a crystal ball, always able to predict the next trend.” Fun touches and references to Pride and Prejudice are sprinkled throughout this story. “Her fluency in speaking his language--her use of coding and technology lingo made her feel like a kindred spirit.” I loved Dawson’s kind, thoughtful gestures (National Napping Day) and the way he made Lizzie “feel protected, safe, and loved.” These two computer nerds found that opposites attract and we all have something in common. This story kept my attention with its suspense, adventure, romance, and the token villain. Great supporting characters included the loveable Austen. Just a bit predictable but still enjoyable. *I received a free copy of this story. All opinions are uniquely my own.
I thoroughly enjoyed this contemporary billionaire romance with unforgettable characters and a beautifully written story that kept me glued to the book from start to finish, reading well into the middle of the night. I felt an instant connection with tenacious, independent software developer, Lizzie Beckett, who pitches her dating app to a panel of tech billionaires on the national television show "Tech Tank", hoping to find the perfect financier to boost her business. She is also training a black Goldendoodle, Austen, to become a diabetic alert service dog. I loved her dynamic and undeniable chemistry with arrogant, pretentious, and critical Dawson Fitzwilliam who agrees to give her app, Capture My Heart, a thirty-day trial period.
This is a must-read for fans of this genre and I look forward to reading more from this talented author. I received an advance reader copy of Her App, A Match, and the Billionaire and this is my voluntary and unbiased review. I liked the book so much, I purchased a copy for my keeper library.
Super cute Billionaire themed romance. I liked this one because of the Tech Tank angle. Lizzie Beckett is trying to find an investor for her dating app, so she gets on the show to hopefully win over one of the investors. When her service dog acts up and one of the Billionaires loses his cool with it, he has to save face. So he grants her a 30 day period with his company to see if he wants to invest in it or not. But Dawson isn’t really interested in it. But as he and Lizzie start working together, she thaws a piece of his icy heart and things start changing. He starts being interested in her (Surprise! Ha ha. JK. It is a romance) This story is set in Seattle. I loved the outdoor and city scenes, they were very realistic and made me feel like I was there. And the characters worked their way into my heart. It was a fun journey with them. Easy book to read that pulled me along. No boring parts. Just clean, juicy fun. Oh, and I forgot. The diabetic alert service dog in this book is awesome. I loved him.
I was wary when I realized this was a Pride & Prejudice story. I absolutely love the Jane Austen book, but I hate remakes that hew too closely to the original because they end up sounding forced & unnatural. And if I wanted the same story as the original, I'd just read the original.
Maria Hoagland managed just the right balance of following closely enough to recognize the P&P story, but not so close that it was a rewrite of the same plot. I think the premise worked out very well to modernize it, and Dawson's role as the Darcy character had just the right tone of kinda rude, kinda socially awkward with closet chivalrous knight to leave room for the change from "what a jerk" to "swoon" to happen with credibility.
The ending is fairytale-ish but delightful. A house with a lighthouse - what a fun idea - I'm really enjoying this fantasy neighborhood Billionaire series!
The synopsis was great and the novel pulled my interest definitely, but for me the execution fell short. It lacked actions that expressed the characters’ emotion and had slightly awkwardly written dialogue at some points which pulled me out of the story. For example, Mr. Fitzwilliam said “whoa. Savage.” in conversation, which was very out of character and more, the phrase was in response to constructive criticism from a friend/coworker. Little things like that to bug me a bit-call them pet peeves if you’d like. In all honesty, I didn’t finish the book, but like I said, the synopsis was interesting and I did like the characters. Just wasn’t for me. Three and a half stars
So far, I have learned how billionaires interact with each other. How tv shows are taped. How dating apps work, in general. All about this dating app, in particular. Service dogs. How they are trained. Diabetes. Seattle. How people in Seattle prefer to eat their hot dogs... And that’s not to mention the miles and miles of endless, needless narratives I skimmed over, rather than wading through. I am now at the 33% point, and have no further interest in being educated about the town, the app, the personalities, the dog, or any of the rest of it. I’ll just move quietly on, in search of that romance I was looking for.
I am loving this sweet series and the hotties at Billionaire Cove. This was such a fun read! This is the story of Dawson and Lizzie and the retelling of Pride and Prejudice (well sort of). Lizzie tried to get a sponsor for her dating app by going on a show called Tech Tank. Dawson is the brilliant brain behind the show and one of the Tech experts. He gets much more out of Lizzie’s appearance on the show than he ever imagined.
I enjoyed reading this book. I am a fan of pride and prejudice so I enjoyed that this story was a modern day version. I live in the Seattle area so this book was even more fun because I could relate. I liked Lizzie’s spunk. The service dog aspect was fun and interesting. I liked reading Dawson’s point of view. Overall a great story.
The title of this one almost turned me off. I get where it fits in but I just find it awkward. I loved the story line but it was very slow paced and there were a few times I almost gave up on it. I am Loving the Cove series and it was fun to get to know Dawson better can’t wait to meet more of the neighborhood.
I enjoy books where you learn something. In this case about service dogs (what a great idea!). Apart from that, it was so well written, I felt I was "there". An interesting read.
I loved this book. The pacing and the natural flow was enjoyable to read and I really liked the characters. In my mind, this book was not a cheesy romance. It was relationship based and believable. ❤️❤️❤️
I enjoyed this more than some of the others in this series! The nod to P&P and Shark Tank was fun, but more than that, I enjoyed the humor, character development, and the more believable plotline progress toward the inevitable HEA.
I had no idea that this was based on Pride and Prejudice. I really like the characters and bringing in the diabetic alert dog made the story better . I knew immediately that the dog was alerting when Dawson was feeling less than his best. It is a very worthwhile read.
I enjoy seeing the connected lives in the different series. What a fun nod to Pride and Prejudice. I really like the inclusion of Austen, the service dog. And Lizzie is such a strong female lead. Fun read!
I love the chemistry between Dawson and Lizzie. I’m glad they don’t let silly misunderstandings stall their relationship for long. And I love happy endings.
Knowing coding and developing apps is not my thing but reading about a billionaire with a tech business meeting a dating site developer can surely match a HEA
This book was a real page turner for me! I loved the characters and the loose references to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. It was very romantic with a HEA. Highly recommend!
