Finding the Light Review on K-Books

Janelle Stalder is one of my all-time favourite authors. I have been such an enormous fan of hers since 2011 when she offered me a copy of her debut novel, Eden, for review. I read it one sitting and couldn't believe how amazing it was. Especially considering it was her first novel. Since then I have devoured each and every novel that she has released and I am always left bugging her for when the next one will release. The Balance series is, in my opinion, her best series to date. So when she asked me if I wanted to read Finding the Light early, I was practically jumping up and down with excitement.

Finding the Light picks up right where The Dark Princess left off, with Hope at the school for Angels, where everyone thinks she will be the safest. But when the attacks on her life don't stop, Hope doesn't seem to be safe anywhere. Can she find out who is after her when she is stuck on an island full of angels?

I freaking adored Finding the Light. It was without a doubt the best one of the series to date. I know, I know... I always say that but Janelle just blows me away with every single book. She is without a doubt one of my favourite authors of all time and she could literally write anything and I would buy it no matter what it was about. When I started reading this book I was like I'll try to finish it in a few days... three hours later I was done. I couldn't put it down. Not for a single second. It was so addictive and I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen.

I absolutely love Hope as a character. She is such an interesting character to read about. With her being part angel, part demon she is struggling with whether she is good or bad and I love seeing her on that journey of self-discovery. She definitely goes through a journey of self-discovery in this one and I loved experiencing that all with her. I have to say though, as much as I love Hope, my favourite character in this book is without a doubt Cillian. He is just utterly perfect! A gorgeous demon who will do anything and everything in his power to protect Hope at all costs... I couldn't help but love the parts told from his perspective the most. While reading I was literally a real-life heart-eyes emoji.

Finding the Light was utter perfection. It's such a game changer in the series and I couldn't believe what I was reading. Some of the twists and turns I never saw coming at all and ended up sitting there with my mouth gaping unable to believe what had just happened. Another sign that Janelle is such a superb storyteller. In a lot of books I tend to guess some of the twists and turns, this one I didn't guess any of them!

I absolutely adored every single moment of Finding the Light. I couldn't read it fast enough and then I was left reeling at the end, dying to get my hands on the next book immediately. If you're a fan of YA Paranormal then this is a must-read that you have to add to your TBR. It is one of the most incredible books I have ever had the pleasure of reading and I will be counting down the days until the next book releases.

Alright, Janelle, I didn’t think you could make me hurt worse in Finding the Light but congratulations my feels are broken. I had to take 24 hours off of reading, which I NEVER do. Let’s review:

Readers rejoin Hope in Finding the Light where she was sent to the Angel school, The Academy, for her protection from whoever is attacking her. Things start to look up for Hope as she makes a new friend, Rosalie, and she finally starts to settle in and have some sort of normalcy. But nothing is easy for Hope, and the school doesn’t come without it’s uh.....challenges either. And when familiar faces turn out to be something out of a nightmare, Hope’s chance at survival relies on her ability to be cunning and by trusting only a few.

This book was probably my favorite thus far even though we had less Cillian in it. Hope’s journey in finding herself while trying to figure out some of the events happening is truly breath taking. One thing I love about Janelle’s writing is that the character continues to evolve. Long gone are the days where Hope didn’t take it in stride. She’s a warrior and it would wise for those to not forget it.

Cillian and Hope together are a force to be reckoned with. Cillian himself is dangerous, but putting them together is a weapon. Cillian is frustrated with Hope being away, on an Angel island, and has no access whatsoever and can’t even communicate. All I’m going to say is the scenes that we do get of them together are mesmerizing. Cillian is even more ruthless and protective in this book and I couldn’t get enough of him!

All I’m going to say about Gabriel is once a snake always a snake. I said what I said!

Janelle’s world is truly magical and it’s so very easy to get lost in it—I’ve done it multiple times! So my fellow readers I would suggest this book in a heart beat! 5/5, Janelle, I just one clicked the next book, The Dark Queen!

I received a digital ARC from Janelle’s newsletter for an honest review. I have been a fan of this series from the very beginning. Sometimes when authors write about the children of characters that we grew to love in past books it can fall flat. But Janelle has written Hope an amazing story worthy of a Dark Queen. I absolutely could not wait for this book after the cliffhanger in Dark Princess. I fell in love with Cillian Black all over again. I was right about a hunch I had about Hope and Cillian. I ship Rosalie and Maverick 100% I can’t wait to see where their story leads them. Swoon. I saw sparks flying everywhere. Caleb and Vivian about freaking time. I highly recommend starting from the first book Balance you will not regret it. I’m still reeling from that ending. Janelle I need Dark Queen in my hands ASAP! It did not disappoint....

Love Live the Dark Queen. She’s coming...

Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Oh my goodness that ending!!!!!!! Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
Finding The Light leaves off where book 3 ended. The beginning is a bit slow going however mid way through the story things liven up as someone is after Hope. I keep going back and forth over who it could be and honestly, after the way this book ended I don't have a clue. Wow. I am anxious and wanting book 5 right now. I have a feeling book 5 is going to rock and roll given how this book has set everything up. Finding The Light is a great book and fantastic addition to this series. I NEED book 5 STAT!!!

I read an arc and willingly posted my review.

Omg, Janelle keeps me on my toes. First of I just want to say, look at that cover! So beautiful and can I get a dress like that. 😊

Oh Gabriel, I really thought he was coming over to the dark side but of course to good to be true. Men and power.
Maverick and Rosalie I can see the sparks already. I can't wait to see what happens between them.
I just love Cillian and Hope relationship. It's like a tug and pull. I can't believe she finally admits it.
Oh, Caleb and Vi just gives me the feels. 😍
Finding the Light was just so good. So exciting to read. Janelle never disappoints. I can't wait for the next read.

I was not expecting the ending! I suspect throughout the book how things would turn out, but I was blown away with the ending. Total cliff hanger! Hope needs to find her balance. With who her parents are. Her feelings. Her life. What she wants. How to cope with things she has endured. Who she trusts. I am so thrilled that I stumbled on this author. Her balance series has hooked me!

I recieved a digital arc from Janelle in exchange for an honest review.

Janelle has produced another amazing read - thrilling, intriguing, laugh out loud and action packed, I just could not put it down and I was on the edge of my seat with the suspense. I haven't read anything like it since the previous installment - The Dark Princess... And I will be waiting with baited breath for the next installment of this amazing series.

I absolutely adore the characters in this book... I can't wait to see more of Rosalie - because there has to be more of her, she's fabulous and sweet and caring and so kind and just amazing!
Maverick - Clearly smitten but oh so intriguing, I'd love to get to know him more.
Gabriel - I just knew I was right (I'm looking at you Janelle!!!)
Cillian - There is nothing that needs to be said other than my baby... I love him so much, he's everything a good character should be! And the guy every girls wants!

I'm already dying for the next installment here 😭

Second time around even knowing what's going to happen I still died at the end 😭
