I just love the McAllister clan! This is book six of a very enjoyable romantic suspense series featuring a family of five law enforcement brothers, one sister, and their significant others who joined the group over the course of the series. There are also minor roles in each of the books for their pets (several dogs plus a cat and a ferret) as well.
This installment features Abby, the sole sister who is a sharp, ball-busting attorney, and her love, Royden. Someone is after Abby and is going to great lengths to bring her down. It takes all of the McAllisters and their SO’s to pitch in to protect her. A major highlight of these tales is the wonderful camaraderie of the family. This and all the love, teamwork, and humorous bantering beg the question: Who wouldn’t want to be a part of this family?
Remnants of Evil has a complex and intriguing plot that captured my attention immediately. I thought the “three marks” aspect of the baddie’s plan was very clever. Ms. Reily also has a knack for writing suspense scenes that are goosie-inducers, and there are several of them in this story that got my heart going. In some of the author’s earlier books, description was a bit excessive for me, but there is none of that in this novel—the flow is perfect. And for all you romance fans, the sex scenes are awesome. More loving and caring than erotic—just the way I like them.
I loved the title, and it fits the plot perfectly.
I was sad on finishing this one. All six of the McAllister sibs have their forever loves now, and I fear this may be the end of the series. If it is the end, I would love to see a spinoff starring Katt (PI) and Lexi (hacker extraordinaire) and perhaps Abby (attorney) as well. Katt and Lexi have fabulous rapport. Of course the brothers could make appearances too, hint hint. Wishful thinking? I can only hope!
The McAllister Justice series is highly recommended to all fans of romantic suspense and tight-knit family camaraderie. The books can be read as stand alones, but to fully enjoy the relationships of this terrific family and a particular underlying plotline in the later books, I suggest they be read in order. And don’t forget the prequel, Tender Echoes, a meaty novella featuring Lexi that I really enjoyed.
I want to thank Ms. Reily Garrett for the joy and honor of being asked to beta read for her. It’s been a fun ride!

Someone’s out to get lawyer Abby McAllister. Someone very sinister and very determined. Equally determined to put a stop to the threats are her beau Royden Patterson and her brothers and their girlfriends, who are all skilled investigators.
Remnants of Evil
is Reily Garrett’s sixth novel in the McAllister Justice series.
The normally fearless Abby is still jittery after being kidnapped and held captive underground just two months earlier. She is doing her utmost to be strong and independent while boyfriend Royden is doing his best to be protective and patient. Anyone who has read previous McAllister books knows that whenever one of the family, which includes significant others, has a problem, the others can be counted on to want to be part of the solution.
The perpetrator concocts a complex scheme to put the final nail on Abby’s coffin, as it were, but first, there are “marks” to tease and set up to take the fall. The intent is to make Abby, as well as those who love her, become more and more nervous as the threats and taunts lead up to one obvious conclusion. But can one clever criminal outsmart two cops, two PIs, a computer hacker, a pathologist, and a vet? And a lawyer? Oh, and let’s throw in a couple dogs, a cat, and a ferret.
Abby’s law office is quite a dysfunctional workplace. Her brothers and their girlfriends are overprotective, to say the least. Royden – well, he tries to maintain proper boundaries. He does try, really. And he’s a sweet guy. Sexy, too. And Ms Garrett writes some steamy love scenes. Ahem. I digress.
You really should read other books in the series before diving into this one so you understand how this family dynamic works, because it is quite a sight to behold. The family that works together plays together, and that is really obvious in the final chapter. Actually, I’m hoping that Reily will find a way to do a spin-off with our favorite hacker Lexi and her female PI pal Katt, and maybe throw in lawyer Abby for good measure. THAT would be fun. Of course, their men would have to be included, too. How about it, Reily?
I want to thank Reily Garrett for the opportunity to be a beta reader for this and past books. Reily, it’s been fun! I offer my unbiased opinion.

Remnants of Evil is the sixth book in Reily Garrett’s McAllister Justice series, and it’s another brilliant addition to the series. Those who have read the prior books in the series will adore this instalment, yet new readers can easily enjoy it as a standalone novel. As ever, I recommend reading the series in order, for that little bit more you receive from watching things grow throughout the books, but it can be enjoyed just as easily as a standalone novel.
As with the prior books in the series, however, I wish to make a quick note before I go into any detail regarding the book. I’m fortunate enough to beta read for Reily Garrett, lucky enough to get an insight in how these books develop. However, this does not influence my rating in any way. The beta reading process is a lot of fun, but I keep my ratings of the final book separate from the beta reading process. My four-star rating (a strong four-star rating, at that) is a reflection of the final product, not what I have seen before.
With Remnants of Evil, fans of the series get to find out more about Abby and Royden. They have appeared in prior books, and we’ve been given snippets of their story, but with Remnants of evil we get to go deeper into their story. Although it is best if you know the details from the prior books, yet there is more than enough in this one to make it stand strong without the need for prior knowledge.
As always, Reily Garrett sucks you into the story in no time at all and leaves you turning the pages at a rapid pace. With wonderful prose, a gripping storyline, fabulous characters, amazing development, and a brilliant romance, Remnants of Evil is the perfect read for fans of romantic suspense.

This is my first book by Reily Garrett, even though it was book 6 in the series I enjoyed this story. I will have to go back and read the first books to learn more about the McAllister for sure.
Royden and Abby are working together to find out who kidnapped her and is now stalking her. But not only are they working they are in love and Royden will do anything to keep Abby safe. But having a strong willed, hard headed girlfriend is tough to keep her safe at all times. Abby wants to get rid of the nightmares and find out who's trying to hurt her and her brothers. She will not stop digging until she finds the truth and gets rid of her demons.
The McAllister brothers will do everything in their power to keep Abby safe too. They are everywhere and along side Royden and Abby they will find who is trying to ruin Abby.

This is the sixth book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. After escaping her kidnapper, Abby is trying to find her new normal and get back to her life. Someone out their however doesn’t want to let her go. Royden has come to protect Abby but can he keep her safe? Fast-paced read with loads of drama and suspense. The chemistry is steamy and the story has plenty of twists and turns. The McAllisters are a great family! I really liked it.

This series just seems to get better and better with each book. The author is able to instil so much information both consciously and subconsciously into not only the characters but the descriptive telling of the events as they unfold, that I could practically smell the anticipation and fear.
Remnants of Evil was exceptional in as much as the characters brought so much to the page, their story was one that left me breathless much of the time, high on the anticipation of just what the heck was happening.
I loved Abby, a sharp woman who knows her own mind, a survivor of a heinous crime that refuses to be a victim and who uses her position as an attorney to fight for justice wherever needed but when things start to head downhill pretty sharpish, she refused to lay down and take the easy option, life may be handing her everything she doesn’t want or need but that doesn’t mean she is the sort of woman to hide…nope when it became clear that she has a stalker, she is ready to face it head on…come what may!
Royden is partners with one of Abby’s brothers and as a detective, you would think he is just the guy to keep her safe, but with her determination to stand her ground, keeping her out of the clutches of her own special lunatic is proving harder than he would like. But there is no chance he is going to let anything happen to her, he loves her too much for that to even be an option. But was that wishful thinking?
I was on the edge of my seat as I tried desperately to work out just what the heck was going and more to the point not necessarily who but why they were doing what they were. Of course, it was impossible not to love the cast of characters, the fact all of the McAllister’s get in on the show, the fact that the author gave me someone that I could truly despise and others that I spent far too long cursing out that was probably acceptable.
I laughed, I shouted, I cried, and I yelled but most of all I fell a little more in love with the McAllister family all over again!

Reily Garrett - McAllister Justice Series Bk 6 - Remnants of Evil - Reviewed - 4/7/19
Right in the path of disaster, can she survive the tornado headed for her???
Two months after escaping an underground prison, Abby is determined to redefine her limits by testing the boundaries defining her existence. Practicing law fulfills her need for order and consistency, but chaos soon decimates her neat and structured life. When a psychopathic killer draws a line in the sand, she’s forced to choose between her need for independence and the security of police protection. Royden has spent his adult life hunting society’s worst criminal offenders. Assigned to work with a McAllister wasn’t what he’d envisioned when relocating to Portland, but everything changed after meeting his partner’s sister. When death comes searching for his new family, each clue leads either to a dead end or more possibilities. Join the McAllisters, their better halves, and their dogs in an exciting romantic thriller.
What did I like? Even though I know that they are just characters in a book, I just can’t help myself, I love those boys and every one of their soulmates. This book is by far the best in the series with everything so ramped up and scary! I cried from fear and for the girls…. Held my breath and almost forgot to breathe. Wow, what a book!!!
What will you like? Holy smokes, the unbelievable action, incredibly scary, enormously emotional and an amazing storyline. Most of all the characters, the sexiest and adorable brothers, smart, strong and amazing soulmates for each of the brothers and the hunkiest boyfriend for the sister. All this makes up the most wonderful family of the McAllister ’s. Grab a box of tissues and your heart pills because this book is going to take you on the ride of your life. The ending will blow you away!!!!!! Make sure you're ready for the best read of 2019. I received this ARC from the author for an honest review with no other compensation.

Reily Garrett is simply amazing, and her McAllister Justice Series is one of my all time favorites, so obviously Remnants of Evil was no exception. One of my very favorite things about this series, is you don't just do something to one of the McAllisters, you do it to all of them, so each book has them en mass, including the fur babies, who are also bad a**. Abby McAllister is the attorney in the family, who is a survivor of a brutal kidnapping, but she didn't let it define her. However, things are going sideways again, when she finds herself with a stalker, but she's not going to let it make her run & hide. Royden is a detective whose partner is one of her brothers, and little did he know that he would end up falling in love with her. They are happy, until danger starts stalking her, and he's determined to keep her safe, although, with her not wanting to stand down, she's kind of making it a bit harder. So will he be to figure out who is trying to hurt her before they finally succeed? Another exciting story that kept me on the edge of my seat, though this time, Ms. Reily gave a more in depth POV of the villian while they were doing villainous things. But don't let me confuse you, I knew kinda of who they were but not really, if that makes sense. You'll understand once you read it, and make no mistake, you NEED to read it! Obviously the twists were insane, which means I had a big potty mouth with f-bombs flying everywhere. There was also all kinds of secondaries who fell in the good, bad, and oh so ugly categories, which at times, I couldn't always tell the difference besides family. Since the McAllisters were there, there was also humor to keep me laughing, and bonus was the ending, which I can't tell you about, but OMG! IT WAS SO AWESOME! Anyway, I've already said too much, so I'll end with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING TO ALL!

Abbey just wanted to escape it all - A chance to drown herself in adrenaline-inducing bucket list activities - A chance to forget - Literally drowning was not what she had in mind.
Royden just wants his girl back. He knows she is hurting, running from the nightmares that still hold her in their grasp. He will move heaven and earth to make her feel safe again. Question is will it be enough?
From the moment I opened this book, I was entrapped in Abbey's journey. Who will be the next mark? Why those specific acts? How is she going to find her emotional footing if the darkness never lets her go? And most importantly can they stop whoever is behind this before he makes his final move?
Garrett weaves a suspenseful on the edge of your seat thriller with Remnants. From the opening chapter till that final exhale as you close the book she guarantees to entertain and engage her readers.
This is one of those series I honestly will need to go back and start from the beginning. There is a strong emotional connection between the supporting cast (her family, both two and four-legged) that transfers over in each of the episodes. The brothers have their own stories also but it all interconnects in a subtle 'background' way.
If plot twists, white knuckle on the edge of your seat action and sweet (steamy) romance sound like a "Yes, please" then I definitely recommend the McAllister Justice series.

Remnants of Evil is the sixth full-length and I believe the final book in the The McAllister Justice series by one of my favorite suspense writers, Reily Garrett. Each one can be read as standalone but they do intersect. If you want Royden and Abby’s full story then I suggest you first read Carbon Replacements.
Months after the scare of their lives, Royden and Abby decide to take a vacation. A much needed one. Only, it’s cut short due to a threat. An attempt on her life. They thought their lives were back to normal but they were very wrong. It was about to get a hell of a lot more twisted.
Abby is a lawyer and used to a good fight. She wasn’t going to let some psycho take her independence away. She knew her overprotective brothers and boyfriend would be watching her even if she doesn’t see them. Even if she tells them not to. She would never admit it but she loved that about them. And it helped that their better halves were the same way. Hackers and all were badass and helpful. In an illegal way. Lol
I don’t want to spoil anything so I leave it at that. I will say that there are lots of twists and turns. I read it pretty quickly since I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. And it was brilliant to get the killer’s POV.
Overall...it’s a suspenseful, sexy, at times even a funny ride. I loved the characters. The family bond. The story. The heat. The laughs. The twists.
Quotes:
“We’ll see this through, Abby, whatever it is.”
...It’s a scare tactic, cowboy, and I won’t scare so easy.”
She loved the taste of him, the sight of his losing control, and the knowledge he would always be there to catch her.

Remnants of Evil is the sixth and final book in the McAllister Justice series written by author Reily Garrett. Each book in the series focuses on a different couple and can be read as a standalone romantic thriller. Even though this is true, I do believe reading the series in order will give you a greater foundation to understand and appreciate the backstories. Just know that it’s not mandatory.
Remnants of Evil tells the story of Abby McAllister and Royden Patterson. Abby is a lawyer and she is fiercely independent. She likes to push herself since she was kidnapped two months ago, and she still has nightmares about it. Her boyfriend Royden is a police officer and he’s partners with her brother, Billy.
When Abby becomes the target again, Royden and her brothers do everything they can to help protect her. Remnants of Evil is an amazing page turner and it had a great balance of suspense and humor. Knowing this would be the last book in the series, I felt kind of sad as I got closer and closer to the last page in the book. The ending was wonderful, and I loved every minute of it!

First I have to say that every book in this series up until this book is on my all time favorites shelf. But I wasn't sure that this book would make my favorites shelf because it's based around the only sister in this family of hunky guys. But I should know not to underestimate Ms. Garrett!
She is one of the best writers out there today!
In this book, Abby McCallister, the only sister among all of her law enforcement and private detective brothers and their girlfriends, is the voice of reason. As a lawyer she tries to keep her family in line. But when she's kidnapped, she's counting on their unconventional sleuthing techniques to help save her. (Although, she helps save herself as well.)
Reily, has built a family of characters that I've come to love and I feel like I'm a part of this big family. Her imagination is amazing. The suspense she builds and the intrigue will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. And of course there's the romance. What I like best about these books is that the romance is there but it doesn't take away from the main storyline...the mystery of the book!
Although, these can been read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading them in order!

I loved this book. Definitely a page turner. I could not put it down. It was that good. Royden and Abby work so well together. I was hooked from start to finish.
Royden is a psychologist and a investigator for the police. Abby is an attorney. Abby and Royden are in a romantic relationship. Abby had been kidnapped and escaped. Now someone is trying to kill her. Abby's brothers are bound and determined to find out who it is. Whoever it is, is following her and taking pictures of her. They know her every move. The McAllister brothers will do everything they can to protect their sister. Can the McAllister clan find out who is out to kill Abby, before it's too late? Will Abby and Royden have a future together?
This book by Reily Garrett has mystery, romance, intrigue and twists and turns I didn't see coming. I highly recommend this book. I loved it.

This is the 6th book in the Mcallister Justice Series but can be read in as a stand-alone.
In this epic journey Abby has escaped her kidnappers and just wants to get on with her life. Although, Royden is there to protect her he realizes that might not be the case when sheer havoc takes place.
The book is a romantic, suspenseful thriller. It is nearly impossible to figure out the plot until the end of the book. This writer keeps you on the edge of your seat. The sex scenes are passionate and hot. The McAllister men are yummy and I just love a female heroine.
Ms.Garrett writes a very engrossed plot. Her characters are clearly drawn and it’s unmistakable as to the roles they play. Her scenery is precise and perfect. Well done! Phenomenal read.

I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review. I have read all of the McAllister series and love the family that cares so much for each other, but also all the teasing and banter that goes on.
Abby, the only female, is featured in this one and her life of terror and love will grab you from the beginning. The way the family comes together and protects Abby as she tries to live her normal life is heartwarming, but the terror she endures is real! I found the capture portion of the villain to be a bit lacking of detail but the final chapters of the book will make you smile and end on a good note!

Remnants Of Evil is book six in the McAllister Justice series of romantic suspense novels. Although stand alones, there are always themes running through, so I would suggest reading the series in order to get the most from the experience.
Abby McAllister is a lawyer and the sister to five brothers who are all connected to law enforcement.
So far each family member has had their own thriller style adventure; now it is Abby’s turn. A recent kidnapping left Abby severely shaken. The culprit is safely behind bars, but can he still reach her? See here for full review https://wp.me/p2Eu3u-eIX

I found parts of this book riveting, easy to follow and action packed. Their were other parts that were harder to follow, but it could be because I didn't read all the Books before. The bad guy was interesting and unpredictable. I thought she had more depth than the lead Abby if I'm honest. The ending was great except the part right after the cabin. I yelled at my book. Seriously? Why?! Then it got good again and ended on a high note. I liked the characters and found it has just enough with Abby's family to not overwhelm the suspense.

Abby is the only sister of the McAllisters, and though she's still recovering from recent events, she finds herself once again a target. Royden is her man and wanting nothing more than to ease her fears, but who is after her now? The story starts after her initial attack, from what I gathered, so while these books are stand-alone stories, they are connected with the members of the McAllister family. It's sweetly steamy and suspenseful, with a good amount of action pushing along the fast pace of this story.

I started with this book in the series, as this was the book that my FB group started with. It was a bit slow going. I am not sure if I should have started with book one. This book is also based on the McAllister family and how they look out for their sister Abby. She wants to maintain her independence after being held captive in an underground prison. Abby is stubborn but I like the family dynamic of how they look out for each other while at the same time w/out being too intrusive. Luckily she has Royden who works with the police and the McAllister boys.

No doubt about it! This was a psychological thriller! But, we knew it from the beginning! What a twisted mind we got a peak into. We also saw this romance happening. Royden has been standing up to the McAllister brothers for a while now, and he is still dating their sister. That takes some cahones. I rather enjoyed this last of the McAllister saga, in spite of the psychological aspect. Glad I stuck with the series. Loved the wedding!

This was an interesting read from the outset, but due to not reading the previous books in this series, I came up short sometime. Wanting to know the full picture about not only the main characters but the side characters too.
I loved the start which was explosive getting you right into the story with a bang. A great thriller suspense novel.

Well written
I did not realize this was a series so I need to go back and read the first books but this was really good. Lots of twists and turns. I really enjoyed the characters and can’t wait to try more from this author. I would have liked a little more steam but that is just my preference.

The end
Interesting ending to 6 steamy romantic family vs psycho killers. I'm not really into steamy sex genre but it works with this series and It's not Like they are eroctic romance novels. The Family Dynamics of this particular series has made it very interesting in fact that there are so many pycho thrillers out in the market. I would definitely say read the series.

This book is a great read! The only thing is I read it as a stand alone. At first it was hard to follow all the characters since I hadn’t read the previous books. Other than that it was well written. Way to go Reily. Keep up the great work. I will be starting from the beginning soon.

What a great suspence thrilling story took me a bit but it is so worth it the chemistry between Abby and Royden is sizziling hot with enough excitement and danger that keeps you glued right until the end. Abby had so much strength in her, and was very well written.

This book has it all. Romance, suspense and murder and betrayal just to name a few. The author has created such a vivid look into the mind of a killer. The reader is on the edge as the killer plans evolve and are executed. Will the McAllisters be able to outsmart them or will they succeed in their deadly plot of revenge. I had not previously read the other books in the series but will definitely remedy that soon. Ms. Garett has created a inspired world of suspenseful plots and characters that are strong and resilient.

This something I really don't read but it was recommended to me and I really enjoyed. I kept wondering what's going to happen next. Truly love the mystery of the story. Glad I took a chance on this story.
