When Carol Barrington wakes up in a hospital bed in Barbados with no memory of being attacked, the police have their work cut out to find her assailant. It soon becomes apparent that Carol is still in grave danger and the race is on to find her attacker before he strikes again. Recently widowed, Carol had gone to the island, to her holiday home where she’d been so happy with her husband, in the hope that spending time there would prove cathartic and help her come to terms with his death. Instead, she is plunged into a chilling, prolonged nightmare, from which there seems no escape. Why would anyone want to hurt her? Who can she trust? As the sinister truth emerges, Carol needs to draw on every ounce of courage she possesses in order to survive.
Georgia E Brown has used her love of writing to produce The Stalker's Song, her first novel for Crime/Thriller aficionados.
After a long and successful business career specialising in Human Resources, but also incorporating entrepreneurial ventures such as retail, property development and management consultancy, the author has used her people skills to great advantage in developing the characters in this novel.
Asked to describe Georgia in a few words, her friends came up with: hard-working, compassionate, generous, thoughtful, creative, sassy, forgetful, witty, good fun and loyal - and makes great lasagne.
The author lives with her husband and their much-loved golden retriever, near the coast in Whitley Bay in the North East of England, where she enjoys walking Bentley on the beach, painting portraits and reading - when she's not writing. Her second book is in the pipeline.
I really should not read women in peril novels. They are not my thing. I almost didn't watch "Stranger Things" because I thought Joyce was going to be a typical victim at first. There are some strong female characters in "The Stalker's Song," but the psychotic male evil doer is always one step ahead of them. Oddly enough he wasn't one step ahead of me. There wasn't one single plot twist of surprise that I didn't see coming. Not one. Only for the gullible.
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review on Goodreads.
A spine tingling page turner with unbelievable twists and an incredible ending. This is a real page turner that is hard to put down.
The story follows Carol Barrington , recently widowed, as she travels to Barbados for a much needed vacation after the sudden death of her husband. She is brutally attacked and left for dead while there. Police are baffled as to who the suspect can be but work relentlessly to find him. Carol goes back to her home in England where she is under police protection and watched over by her family. The stalker does not give up and shocks everyone with his actions.
I certainly was more than surprised by the unsettling end. Just when I thought I solved the mystery, another twist would appear in the story. This is a scary read filled with unbelievable suspense. Highly recommended!
The author provides readers an engrossing thriller that is bumpy and twisty throughout. While law enforcement directs diligent efforts to identify those responsible for the crimes, the activity moves across the ocean and continues with more questions than answers. 4 star recommended read.
My thanks to goodreads and the book's giveaway sponsors for the opportunity to obtain a copy of this book.
What a book! This will draw you in and not let up till the end. There is an interesting twist at the end. Would be interesting to have a second book. Stalkers are very bad and so unpredictable. They always want to take things to the next level. Some leave calling cards and some sit back and watch unnoticed.
This thriller book has just the right amount of twist & turns to keep you on your toes . The ending to this book was so unexpected it left my mind blown .
A brilliant book, full of suspense with a totally unexpected ending. It kept you gripped all the way through, I couldn't put it down! I enjoyed the references to the North East too. I'm really looking forward to reading the next one.
Thank you Good Reads Giveaways for The Stalker's Song by Georgia E. Brown.
This is a suspenseful book that reads like a true crime story. I felt for Carol Barrington that poor lady went through so much to try and survive. This book has a lot of characters so the killer could have been almost anyone. It certainly keeps your attention and turning pages. This book had me up all night. I wanted to know who did these horrible things to this family. You will be surprised by this who done it and the twists and turns this book takes. Well done to the Author, I would read more by her.
I’m not the type of person to get the heebie jeebies from a book, but half way thru this one...I was afraid of my own shadow. Great story line and plot. Hard to believe this was Georgia Browns first book. Look forward to reading more from her. (Won this book from Goodreads giveaways)
The great thing about this story is the actions of the criminal are very plausible. His stalking abilities ring true, scary to think someone could go to such lengths to get the person that are focused on. Carol proves time and time again she is so much stronger then she thinks. The fight for life
I'm disappointed that I waited so long to read this book because I loved it! Maybe it's because I love true crime/crime mysteries but this read like something I would listen to on a podcast. I didn't want to put this down and it kept me wondering what was next - my jaw did actually drop 3 times whilst reading this. I highly recommend this for true crime lovers - even though this is fiction!
Even though there was some predictability in it for characters making decisions, I think it's sometimes hard to remember that we're a viewer of these characters lives and we're not in the same high-alert feelings that they are and that we might also make equally "dumb" or "silly" decisions. In the moment characters are viewing as totally rational because their lives have been turned upside down and in a world they once thought was safe has now been invaded.
One thing that I especially appreciated from Georgia Brown was that prior to meeting the suspect/bad person is that she puts their thoughts in a separate chapter and uses italics to help indicate that this person is not ready to be revealed in totality yet. For me there was something about that that added to the suspense of this. It's that "you know they exist but yet you don't know who they are but you know someone is there over your shoulder but you don't want to turn and confirm it" feeling.
I know that I'll be coming back to this book to see if there's any clues that I missed the first time through but I loved The Stalker's Song. Thank you Georgia, you have a new fan.
Just finished reading this book by a new author, Georgia E Brown. What a page turner. Kept you gripped all the way through, especially loved the twist at the end. Couldn't put this down. Really good book. Especially love the references to areas in the North East as I come from there. You really feel for the main character and want her to find out who her stalker is.
Really enjoyed this book. It started fast and kept up the pace all through out the book. Very suspenseful even when you know it's coming you don't know the outcome. Ending still leaves the reader somewhat up in the air.
This is a first read by this author. I must say I had to stop , put it down for a while, and pick it up again. It just distressed me with what the main character was experiencing. An interesting book with a strong message!
It was a fast pace and interesting story. There were some characters that I found to be a little predictable and the police work was a bit unbelievable but I enjoyed the book and was kept on the edge of my seat.
What a find (in a charity shop)- this is a gripping page turner which easily comes up to the standard of Ann Cleeves and Val McDermid. A first novel, I very much hope that Georgia E Brown will continue to write.
Loved the story… very suspenseful and full of twists and turns. Ending, which I usually guess early one, really caught me by surprise. Can’t wait to read Georgia’s second book! I’m
Fairly standard thriller, fast paced with a very story driven plot- would have liked to have known the characters a bit more but it was a quick pacy read.
