Save the World #1

Save the City (An Invasion Universe Novel)

WHEN ALIENS INVADE, ONLY A CON MAN CAN SAVE THE DAY.
Hollis Palmer is not a good man. An unapologetic thief and womanizer, he has no time for anything that won’t profit him directly. So while the rest of the world is staring up in shock as aliens race toward Earth, Hollis is busy stealing a case valuable enough that he’ll be able to ride out any invasion in style.

But ET's arrival proves to be a bigger catastrophe than Hollis – or humanity – expected. Meanwhile, his would-be hostage, Mia Davies, the trophy wife of his criminal boss, is making the aliens look like a walk in the park.

As their plans crumble along with the rest of the world, Hollis and Mia find themselves on the run from a motley crew of aliens, criminals, and crackpots. The two of them must figure out a way to work together without killing each other before something really bad happens–like the city gets blown up, for example.

The first book in Platt & Truant’s new series set in their bestselling Invasion Universe, Save the City is a relentless, action-packed tale of alien apocalypse that will leave you breathless – and ready for more.

Pass on this.

Unlikable characters, meaningless violence, no police, no army, just plain silly circumstances. Aliens come to earth, Texas governor secedes from US without a vote, no response from US Government, somehow people raid the military and get tanks an helicopters (ya right, I can’t drive or fire a tank... can you?) Police are nowhere even though Austin center is full of people with guns in a standoff... no response from the rest of Texas? Everyone has guns in Texas but would the majority allow a Governor to secede without a vote? Doubtful. Texans would make the choice themselves, not allow a Dictator decide for them. There are military bases in Texas, doubtful they would allow this. In front of this is a story about a con man and a woman running from her husband. They hate each other and go from one violent person to another. It’s just a really silly storyline. Well written maybe, but not well thought out.

I love these guys and you will too, if you don’t already!

If you haven’t read the original Invasion series, don’t worry, you don’t need to.

This book is set at the same time as the original seven but from completely different characters points of view.
It’s a great story and well written as is expected from Johnny and Sean.

The characters are well rounded and believable and pull you along for the ride with them. It’s an unputdownable thrill ride that will have you grabbing for the next in the series.

What will happen next? Will the Aliens win or will the humans defeat the incoming ETs? If you want to know you will have to read the books.
There are three in this ‘Save the Humans’ series and I for one cannot wait to read the next one ‘Save the Girl’, in fact I think I will go and start it now!

Read the books they are fantastic and you won’t be disappointed!

Not totally disappointed.

I really enjoyed the concept and plot of the story. It was pretty fast paced and I thought it to be an original idea.

The cons, i found the male character to be tasteless and vile. Some of his lines were crass and straight up tacky. One line in particular, "is there too much competition in your ears?" This took misogyny to a whole new level and made Hollis completely unlikable. Combine that with the fact he has zero levels of honesty, betrays everyone at the drop of a hat, and you have a character that has no redeeming qualities as a human being.

Save the Kudos

Save the City is the first of an apparent trilogy.

Filled with twists and turns, changing allegiances, and crazy characters, it's a delightful diversion.

My only gripe is that, at the very end, it became clear that there were more books to read. And I really don't enjoy that kind of surprise.

Head first

You just have to like and root for the main characters... Although they are "bad guys" they may not be quite as bad as the really bad guys? Great starting point to embrace dystopia.

I wouldn't have read this if I'd known it ended on a cliff hanger so that you would read the next book.I don't have any interest in continuing.

They have done it again!

With this new addition to the Invasion Series, Truant and Pratt have proved that once again they can write great stuff! What's up with the cubes and mysterious boulders? And what's up with Hollis and Mia? I have to read the next book!!!
