"I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow." Jeremiah 31:13 God never promised His people pain-free living. Jesus said, Take up your cross and follow me. But that doesn't mean He leaves us to suffer alone. He also said, I will be with you always. We all experience pain in this life. Whether your pain is the result of physical injury, broken relationships, or emotional distress, you do not have to suffer in silence. In his latest two-minute devotional, Boyd Bailey speaks straight to hurting hearts. In 90 short readings, he offers words of encouragement and practical guidance for you to find hope and healing. As you learn to praise God in your pain, you will receive even more grace to face whatever trials come your way"--
Okay, I have to say a few words about one particular section that touched me right away, when first picking it up - and it was about senseless violence. It was such a heartfelt, nicely written essay on what to do, and feel when all of the negativity in the world shakes us to the core. Of course, this is written for the Christian person in mind, but as a non-Christian, I appreciated the care, no less. The rest of the book was just as thoughtful and touched many subjects that can shake someone's core, from fear to anger to finding happiness in grief, there is a lot to lean on, and a lot to digest. It is truly a little book of comfort.
This is a good devotional for those who are going through a season of emotional pain. The scriptures and encouraging words point to the great Comforter who is the only One that can truly provide comfort. I especially liked the part at the end on how to become a disciple of Jesus Christ. No book of comfort would be complete without the Gospel message.
I received a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
There's a lot of good information in this book but it's not presented well. The thoughts are so disjointed and there are so many metaphors used that I would find my mind wandering every time I tried to read.
