Greg’s new case will be guarding a political candidate who is running for governor.
Entering Christopher Brooks' office, Greg can’t believe his eyes. The man who shattered his heart many years ago is the same man he has to protect.
Christopher needs protection 24/7 and before him stands the man who broke his heart but never really left it.

Throughout this journey we get to know the devastating truth about what happened, alternating between Greg and Christopher’s point of view. Believe me when I say it’s heart wrenching, one box of tissues is not enough. My heart hurt for them.
We are also witness to the approaching danger. Greg alone isn’t enough to hold the threat back, he needs his team to stand with him.

A more than wonderful story, widely told, it’s about second chances, hurt and confusion, trust, distrust, broken hearts, lost hearts, mending hearts, hate, and above all, love. I relished in the warmth and emotions of this story’s content.

Their journey is written in the most enthralling way you can imagine, the hurt and love was all deeply tangible. The content was convincingly woven into this story, I couldn’t put it down until I saw ‘The End’

Overall it was a deep moving story with wonderfully developed characters.
These two beautiful loving souls, with big hearts overflowing with love will stay with you for a long long time, I couldn’t let them go.
We can follow them from where they were young till twenty years later, two souls always meant to be together.

I knew this probably wouldn't me for me because of the American politics and it being romantic suspense (a genre that generally doesn't do things the way I prefer) but I love second chance romances and military MCs so I gave it a shot. But yeah, it's not for me.

The part I read was filled with tons of information about irrelevant side characters who I didn't know or care about and the MCs entire histories were info-dumped in several paragraphs within moments of meeting them for the first time. There were also way too many details provided about everything, which was boring. Add in the cringiness of the security company being well known in town because a group of them prevented a bank robbery during their lunch break (I instantly got 'and-then-everybody-clapped' vibes from that) and I knew this wasn't my kind of thing.

But what sealed the deal was the politics. I was hoping the politics would just be the backdrop but no, the author leans into it hard, right from the start. I can already tell that this book will have that same old dance where the 'good' characters are all radical leftists and all the 'bad' characters are sexist/racist/homohobic violent, radical conservatives. Some examples:

The bad group is actually called 'Organization for the Old America' and the author claims they're almost as bad as the KKK. My eyes rolled so hard that they nearly fell out of my head. Also - the security guys actually have a conversation where the boss tells the MC that they'll provide good security to the new client (the other MC) as long as they agree with his politics. It's implied that they'll still take the job if they don't like his politics but they won't put as much effort into doing their jobs as they should. Are you kidding me?!? This instantly soured me on the characters.

I hate this version of politics and I'm especially not interested in a book that treats politics like a good vs bad YA issue. I could have suffered through the generic writing and skimmed past crap about other characters I don't care about but the approach to politics would continue being a massive distraction for me so I'm going to bow out.

Yup....I loved this book!! I loved the tension Greg and Topher, the resentment, the insecurities, all of it!!! I think this one was different than AM’s other stories because these 2 mc’s had history and it was sweet. A good read indeed.

Our second Hamilton Security story, ( a spin-off of the Souls series) is a tale of a wounded warrior finding his one.
Greg, 38, big, bad Marine, fought 10 years in ForceCon

before being injured and forced to retire.
He signed on with Micah's company after that.
Now his assignment is to protect a political candidate from threats,
and that man is Christopher/Topher, also 38,

who was a classmate in their youth.

Twenty years have passed, where each man never forgot the other, but each thought the other caused the separation. Christopher is running for Governor of Illinois as an openly gay guy, ready to fix the problems of the state. Someone close to him is the person who sabotaged their relationship years ago.

With their close proximity, the true story is revealed, and both are shocked. The event rocked both of their lives, and neither has ever gotten over their feelings, because they are renewed immediately.
Charlie...


We see what kind of guys they are now, and see flashbacks of their lives in school.

After Topher's house is trashed, and best friend Maddie/Maddox is hurt, they head to a safe house. Greg takes his bodyguard job seriously, while they both navigate the fresh passions they ignite, with hot sexiness that sizzles still today.

Later, when the true hateful stalker emerges, it is tragic.

An awesome story, mysterious and exciting. I recommend this series.

Piaciuto anche questo secondo libro.

La storia di Greg e Christopher è stata anche più coinvolgente di quella precedente, nonostante si capisca tutto fin dall’inizio😅.

Unico neo dell’autrice è questo suo modo molto ottimistico e paradossale di concepire le relazioni tra i personaggi. Colpi di fulmini, amori eterni e matrimoni come se piovesse.

Diciamo che sono letture non impegnative, da fare quando si cerca qualcosa di dolce e tenero.

znowu takie 4/4,45:) bardzo przyzwoita seria, przyzwoita zagadka. do końca miałam nadzieję, że, w przypadku listu, byłą to inna osoba, chociaż nie miałam wątpliwości, że sobie wybaczą. to nie ejst zły człowiek. jego przemowa później w domu- epicka. przemówiła do mnie, chociaż nie miałam co do niego wątpliwości. jak również, mialam nadzieję że to nie on jeśli chodzi o osobę napadająca na Tophera. chociaz nie powiem, myślalam w pewnej chwili. Maddiego nie brałam zbyt długo pod uwagę no bo jednak ma swoją część. jak to zobaczyłam od razu byłam spokojna:D powody tej osoby? typowe/nietypowe... zreszta. nie będę się tu rozpisywać. 4+. czekam na następny tom;)

This is another sweet book in the Hamilton’s Heroes series involving the guys who work at Hamilton Security. In this installment, we have two guys who get a second chance at love when they are somewhat thrown together again when Christopher’s parents hire Hamilton Security to provide a bodyguard for their son.

My biggest issue and generally a pet peeve of mine is when a book spends too much time alluding to something but not sharing the details of said something until much later in the story. Here, we quickly learn that Greg and Christopher share a past where neither have good memories of how they split. Both apparently blame the other and a giant miscommunication flag is hoisted blowing in the wind each time one of them brings it up, which is a lot. It takes away from the story for me, but again, that’s a pet peeve of mine. We do eventually (at around 60%) get the whole story from 20 years prior, but we have to see a lot of story of their past before we get there.

Regardless, once that happens, things pick up and they move on. While they are trying to figure their relationship (both past and present) out, they have the other issue of who is after Christopher as he makes his political run. It is the whole reason behind what brought these two back together, so while it is a negative thing, there is a positive spin to it as well.

I enjoyed seeing the other guys from the company as well, as they have some great camaraderie and most definitely some interesting stories left to explore. While I was not completely blown away by this installment, I enjoyed quite a bit about it and am looking forward to the next one.

True rating ... 3.25 stars ... maaaaaaaybe 3.5 stars ... though in SOME ways, there was way too much "tell" and not enough "show" here :-/!! I rounded it down because the flashback moments were NOT doing it for me here and I felt just took away from the overall story ... I felt it was a quick and easy copout to the investment the story would otherwise have demanded plot-wise :-/! This story lost steam for me halfway through and I just wasn't as invested as I would have liked to be :-/!! This rating is NOT negative in any way whatsoever; this was just okay for me and unfortunately I couldn't round this up to 3 physical starswhile I initially said I couldn’t round this up to 3 ACTUAL GR stars, I’ve decided the inferno of a sex scene at the end deserved the extra 1/2 star and the rounding up of collective GR stars, because yes, it was scorching (and these two truly are great together)!! Plus, there were a few really really good moments!! So yeah, the rounding up of stars was a gesture of good Will but I anticipate the next one being much MUCH better!!

Getting it Wright This Time!

This a second chance romantic tale between in-the-running Politician Christopher Brooks & Bodyguard Greg Wright. The story had so much potential, a good premise and a good writer with a track record of sexy romantic MCs in previous books. However, this one fell a bit flat. There was a lack of authenticity in the storyline. Christopher is running for Governor of Illinois but where is the news media, the paparazzi, his entourage. Where was the coverage of the first incident?
Then there the high school crush between the two MCs. If it was so passionate and consuming, why just walk away, not even question each other? I just didn’t buy the storyline or the too neatly wrapped up ending. An okay, a bit of a fairytale read. The first book in the series is much better. Rating: 2 1/2⭐���⭐️

Questo secondo volume della serie “Hamilton’s Heroes” mi ha decisamente conquistato, forse più del primo volume. Non che quello non mi avesse positivamente colpito, intendiamoci, ma questo ha quel qualcosa in più che me lo fa preferire al primo. Sarà che amo i romanzi con al centro della trama il “second chance” e questo non può che non pesare positivamente sul mio giudizio finale.
Greg Wright e Christopher Brooks si conoscono da sempre ed entrambi sono infatuati l’uno dell’altro, senza però che nessuno dei due abbia mai esternato il reciproco sentimento. Arrivati all’ultimo anno delle superiori, Greg (che vista la situazione famigliare in cui si trova costretto a vivere) deve per forza di cose diplomarsi per poterne sfuggire arruolandosi nel corpo dei Marine, complice il suo scarso rendimento scolastico dovuto ai vari problemi che gli derivano dal vivere coi suoi genitori. Preso li coraggio a due mani, chiede a Christopher aiuto nello studio.
I due, dopo anni nei quali si erano solo guardati da lontano senza avere mai li coraggio di approcciarsi l’uno all’altro, iniziano a frequentarsi assiduamente, a conoscersi sempre meglio, diventando presto migliori amici e da lì innamorandosi.
Giunti alle porte del diploma, i due si baciano e si confessano il reciproco affetto, ma a questo punto una lettera da parte di Christopher, trovata da Greg sulla sua porta di casa, mette fine inaspettatamente a quello che sembrava essere l’inizio di una grande storia d’amore.
Sono passati vent’anni e ritroviamo Greg, con un passato da Marine, fra li personale della Hamilton Security, in cui ha trovato non solo colleghi, ma fratelli, una vera famiglia amorevole su cui poter fare sempre affidamento.
Christopher invece dopo aver svolto la professione legale per anni ed essersi guadagnato la reputazione di uomo onesto e tutto d’un pezzo, ha deciso di candidarsi alle elezioni per la carica di Governatore dell’Illinois.
Quando Christopher inizia a ricevere varie lettere di minaccia, suo padre assume una guardia del corpo che stia con lui ventiquattro ore su ventiquattro, rivolgendosi alla migliore compagnia di sicurezza sulla piazza: la Hamilton Security. E chi sarà se non proprio lui, Greg, il ragazzo che gli aveva rubato il cuore appena diciottenne, la guardia di sicurezza incaricata del suo caso?!
I due, dopo lo shock iniziale del ritrovarsi costretti a vivere praticamente attaccati l’uno all’altro, faranno (anche se con fatica) buon viso a cattivo gioco, cercando di sopportare la situazione in cui, volenti o nolenti, si sono trovati. Perché nonostante i molti anni passati, il sentimento fra i due non è mai venuto meno; semplicemente è seppellito sotto strati di rabbia e incomprensioni reciproche.
Quando, nel montare della situazione di stress dovuta alle minacce sempre più pesanti, con tanto di effrazione e aggressione, Greg sarà costretto a portare Christopher in un luogo sicuro lontano da Chicago, i due finalmente si confronteranno sulla fine della loro relazione, rendendosi conto di essere stati ingannati e allontanati senza che nessuno dei due ne fosse consapevole. Tutto ciò che si era bruscamente interrotto vent’anni prima torna prepotentemente a galla e i due non possono che lasciarsene travolgere.

WHEN THE PAST BECOMES A FUTURE

What an INCREDIBLE story. Love doesn't always happen overnight. Greg is ex military, now a very busy bodyguard. Christopher is a lawyer, former prosecutor now running for Governor. These two come together once again, with a past filled with misunderstanding. Through the hurt, separation and a time that never let go of either, they have to find common ground. Topher's life could depend on it. This is a heart touching story. I loved these two men and the struggle they had to endured because of the actions of others. Their love that not even time could erase. This story just makes me appreciate love on a whole new level. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS AMAZING SERIES!!!!!

Meraviglioso e dolcissimo 🤩
Greg Wright ex marine lavora per la Hamilton's Security, gli viene affidato l'incarico di proteggere come guardia del corpo, un candidato alle elezioni di Governatore dell'Illinois e che ha ricevuto esplicite minacce.
Il politico affidatogli è il suo ex ragazzo Chistopher (Topher) Brooks.
Si erano conosciuti a 18 anni ma erano stati separati e Greg di era arruolato.
Sono passati 20anni, sono cambiati, ci sono ferite e un malinteso...
il loro cuore è ancora spezzato...
Ma i ricordi non si sono sbiaditi.

Annabella Michaels è una talentuosa autrice i cui libri rappresentano per me una garanzia di storie dolci e confortanti, arricchite da messaggi significativi e importanti. Il secondo libro della saga “Hamilton’s Heroes”, dedicata agli eroi della squadra di sicurezza di Micah Hamilton, è incentrato sulle vicende di Christopher Brooks, giovane candidato alle elezioni come Governatore dell’Illinois, che dovrà fare i conti non solo con la tensione di una campagna elettorale particolarmente burrascosa, ma anche con il ritorno di Greg Wright, un uomo che non vede da venti anni, ma che adesso ha il compito di fargli da guardia del corpo.
L’autrice, con la sua consueta scrittura precisa ed elegante, densa di sentimenti forti e avvolgente come una soffice coperta, ci parla di seconde occasioni e di un rapporto interrotto in modo brusco e doloroso, per il quale ci sarebbe bisogno di un fondamentale chiarimento. I due protagonisti, adorabili e testardi, sono delineati con sapienza all’interno di una dinamica fatta di sguardi che denotano rimpianto e paura, di ricordi che riaccendono sensazioni di speranza, di tentativi di riavvicinamento e pacificazione.
Greg Wright è un uomo forte, generoso, che svolge con passione il suo lavoro e farebbe qualsiasi cosa per la famiglia che si è costruito, composta dai colleghi e amici fraterni della Hamilton Security. Non si era tirato indietro nemmeno quando si era trattato di aiutare un suo compagno di scuola, Greg, che aveva bisogno di ripetizioni per superare gli esami finali. Quel ragazzo di cui si era innamorato e che poi si era allontanato senza una spiegazione, lasciandolo ferito e amareggiato. Ma ora che il suo essere dichiaratamente gay e schierato in favore della comunità LGBTQ+ lo ha reso oggetto di una feroce opposizione da parte di gruppi conservatori, Greg è ritornato nella sua vita come guardia del corpo, gettandolo in un groviglio di sentimenti confusi, combattuto fra una forte tensione sessuale e la paura di essere nuovamente ferito.
Ho amato molto il modo con cui l’autrice ha costruito il graduale riavvicinamento tra Greg e Christopher (soprannominato Topher da Greg), la loro titubanza iniziale, la paura di lasciarsi nuovamente coinvolgere, la nostalgia legata ai ricordi, il bisogno di trovare una soluzione di compromesso tra il voler mantenere le distanze e la necessità per Greg di svolgere adeguatamente il suo lavoro come guardia del corpo, che comporta lo stare vicini ogni minuto della giornata. Eppure, pian piano le tensioni sembrano sciogliersi, non solo perché prevalgono le esigenze di incolumità del giovane candidato, ma anche per quei sentimenti mai davvero cancellati in tutti questi anni, che li spingono a ritrovare quell’intimità affettuosa che avevano acquisito quando erano due ragazzini. C’è molto nel loro rapporto che aspetta di essere spiegato, che potrebbe spazzare via le incertezze e paure residue, ma per arrivare a quel punto occorre un atto di coraggio da parte di entrambi.
Il tutto è accompagnato da una narrazione coinvolgente, appassionante e ricca di colpi di scena. Greg si rivela in tutto il suo istinto protettivo, ma anche nella sua vulnerabilità di uomo ferito e deluso dalla vita, che non si è mai sentito davvero amato e voluto, se non da Topher quando erano adolescenti, che aspetta soltanto quel momento per sentirsi nuovamente in pace. Topher, a sua volta, è un uomo determinato a portare avanti i suoi progetti politici, che vive per il lavoro, ma sembra aspettare colui che potrebbe essere finalmente la sua ragione di vita e che trova conforto nella sua famiglia e negli amici, soprattutto in Maddie, il suo esperto di comunicazione, nonché amico fraterno dai tempi del college, che con il suo modo di fare riesce sempre a strappare un sorriso.
“Finalmente” è un ottimo romanzo, una storia avvincente sulle seconde occasioni, che ci mostra due anime destinate a stare insieme e che si ritrovano nonostante tutto.

I don’t think I will ever be able to go back to Chicago without dreaming of getting the chance to meet all of Annabella Michaels sexy men!

Greg Wright is part of the elite team of men that Micah Hamilton has assembled to protect those in need in the Windy City. When Micah asks him to go and check out the new assignment that Hamilton Security has been hired to protect he never thought that he would be asked to protect the man that shattered his heart in high school right before he left to serve in the Marines! Christopher Brooks is the bright new candidate running for the Governor of Illinois. He’s smart, sharp, trustworthy and openly gay which is making the openly homophobic “The Organization for the Old America, better known as the O.O.A.” very upset. They are adamant that he can’t win and are showing up in force where ever Christopher is campaigning. Now his parents, successful surgeons, are so concerned that they hire Hamilton Security to protect their only son. But when Christopher sees who is sent to watch over to guard him he can’t believe his eyes…Greg Wright, the man who tore his heart out in high school!

I love a good second chance story and this one has several twists that even I couldn’t figure out. Why was both Christopher and Greg upset that the other man broke his heart when he was young? That was the part of the story that intrigued me and then made me so sad. I know it was all in the name of love and protection but it still caused so much unseen heartache and and a lifetime of distrust of true love.

I loved both these men and my heart went out to them for what happened in high school. Recently I have found, in my readings, that I either fell for one character or the other. In this particular book, I fell for both. Both equally had the right to be bitter and guarded. And I love that they were still attracted to each other after so many years. Them having it out was long overdue and a great way to resolve that particular plot problem.

I am a huge fan of Annabella Michaels and all the men from her “Souls of Chicago” and “Hamilton’s Heroes” Series’s. It is always great to get to see glimpses of all the men we have fallen for throughout these two amazing series. She does a great job of giving us glimpses into many of their lives and what’s going on in them currently, which is a huge bonus in my mind. Characters tend to become real in my heart when you invest so much time in a long series and it’s always nice when an author catches us up..

I highly recommend this book. Our lgbtq+ community is becoming much more open and involved with our political process and this was a wonderful insight into the challenges they still face when running for office.

VOTO 4 stelle e mezzo

Avere figli non aveva mai fatto parte dei loro piani, ma subito dopo essersi sposati avevano scoperto che ero in arrivo. Mia madre mi diceva spesso che ero stato una piacevole sorpresa, qualcosa che l’universo sapeva che avrebbero voluto prima che loro se ne rendessero conto. Avevano modificato i loro sogni per includere anche me, avevano continuato a lavorare per diventare chirurghi, ma la mia felicità era diventata il loro obiettivo primario. Ero stato fortunato in tanti modi ad averli come genitori. Non mi era mai mancato nulla, incluso il loro amore e il loro incrollabile sostegno.

Siamo al secondo volume della serie Hamilton's Heroes che porta la firma di Annabella Michaels di cui ho già letto tutto dell'altra sua serie Souls of Chicago, nel corso della quale abbiamo conosciuto Micah che è il capo della Hamilton Security.
Nel primo abbiamo conosciuto Jeremy e Zane, letteralmente innamorata di queste due bellissime personalità, con il secondo volume conosciamo meglio Greg, la sua adolescenza e la sua amicizia con Topher.
Topher ha una famiglia bellissima alle spalle, ha un animo nobile, puro, buono, aiuta quelli che hanno bisogno e si prodiga nel farli stare meglio.
Greg e Topher sono grandi amici e non solo, tutto sembra andare bene, ma....
I nostri due uomini avranno una nuova occasione ma passeranno ben 20 anni prima che ciò accada, eppure dal loro sguardo tutto sembra uguale pur essendo cambiato tanto.
Annabella riesce a farci percepire ogni emozione che coinvolge i suoi personaggi, senza fatica riesce a farceli amare e sa sempre come farci seguire i loro passi e sostenere il loro cammino dall'inizio alla fine.
Una nuova storia dove l'amicizia cammina di pari passo con l'amore e non manca mai di essere il collante per andare avanti nonostante tutto.

Avere figli non aveva mai fatto parte dei loro piani, ma subito dopo essersi sposati avevano scoperto che ero in arrivo. Mia madre mi diceva spesso che ero stato una piacevole sorpresa, qualcosa che l’universo sapeva che avrebbero voluto prima che loro se ne rendessero conto. Avevano modificato i loro sogni per includere anche me, avevano continuato a lavorare per diventare chirurghi, ma la mia felicità era diventata il loro obiettivo primario. Ero stato fortunato in tanti modi ad averli come genitori. Non mi era mai mancato nulla, incluso il loro amore e il loro incrollabile sostegno.



Siamo al secondo volume della serie Hamilton's Heroes che porta la firma di Annabella Michaels di cui ho già letto tutto dell'altra sua serie Souls of Chicago, nel corso della quale abbiamo conosciuto Micah che è il capo della Hamilton Security.

Nel primo abbiamo conosciuto Jeremy e Zane, letteralmente innamorata di queste due bellissime personalità, con il secondo volume conosciamo meglio Greg, la sua adolescenza e la sua amicizia con Topher.

Topher ha una famiglia bellissima alle spalle, ha un animo nobile, puro, buono, aiuta quelli che hanno bisogno e si prodiga nel farli stare meglio.

Greg e Topher sono grandi amici e non solo, tutto sembra andare bene, ma....

I nostri due uomini avranno una nuova occasione ma passeranno ben 20 anni prima che ciò accada, eppure dal loro sguardo tutto sembra uguale pur essendo cambiato tanto.

Fantastic

Another amazing book in this series. It's beautifully written and the characters are so well developed that it is easy to get lost in their world.
Greg has a job to do which he always does to the best of his ability. He's shocked when he realises just who he is working for . He has no intention of letting his boss down so he sets about keeping his charge safe. The more time he spends with Christopher the more the last comes back to him, when they finally talk about the past they have a chance to move forward but they need to find out who's threatening Christopher soon.
Christopher can't believe who has been sent to be his body guard and he can feel the tension building between them but the past can't be forgotten. Greg hurt him and only when they talk do they realise they still love each other . So much time has past can they get that love back of did it ever truly go away.
This always writes characters that the reader can fall for become invested in and go through a range of emotions with them. This book is no different it is a great read and as always you are left with a great feeling when you have finished . I can't recommend this book strongly enough and I can't wait for the next one.

I absolutely loved this book! Another great story from a fantastic author. This story is about the characters being each other's first love and a second chance to reclaim it. Greg is a character that we have seen in previous books and now his next case brings him back into someone he wished that his heart could forgot. We find out a lot about Greg's history in that he never felt like he belonged anywhere not even in his own family, and when he found love it was snatched away from him.
Christopher is a new character introduced in this book, with a heart of gold trying to bring positivity to the people in his state. He never lacked for people caring about him but his heart has never felt love from a lover except from his 1st love that broke it. Now his life may be in danger and his bodyguard is someone that can hurt him if he gets is too close.
The chemistry between them is intense but each of them tries to be distant even though they fit perfectly in each others life. When they finally come together and the topic of their past is brought up, and they have to deal with it together to be able to work together to keep everyone safe now.

Non è facile condensare in 200 pagine una trama che stia in piedi, una storia d'amore intensa e credibile e qualche capito di bollore, ma devo dire che l'autrice ci è riuscita.

Greg e Christopher si sono conosciuti e innamorati 20 anni prima, appena adolescenti, ma qualcosa è andato maledettamente storto e le loro strade si sono brutalmente separate.

20 anni dopo Greg viene assunto per essere la guardia del corpo di Topher, dal momento che sta sebendo numerose minacce da parte di gruppi omofobi che vogliono impedirne l'avanzamento politico come governatore dell'Illinois. I due, quindi, si troveranno a dover fare i conti con il passato con una #forcedproximity che... è destinata ad evolversi...? Che domande....
L'evoluzione dei personaggi è intensa e inesorabile (complice il passato condiviso), condita, a mio parere, da un miele esagerato.

Nel complesso la trama regge bene, la suspance c'è, e qualche plot twist più o meno prevedibile a condire il tutto.

Ho preferito il mistero del primo libro rispetto a questo, ma devo dire che queste storie sono perfette quando si ha bisogno di amore, dolcezza, tenerezza e del sano vecchio bollore.

This book falls into the second chance romance category. It starts off with the two MCs being reunited under stressful circumstances. Greg is a bodyguard for Hamilton Security and he's been hired to protect Christopher, his first and only love, who has been receiving threats while running for governor. Neither expect the other when they meet. It's also apparent neither knows the true story of what happened between them when they were teens because both are convinced the other left and broke their heart. Their falling in love as kids is shown throughout the story as flashbacks which I really enjoyed. More than half the book is done before we actually find out what happened between them in the past. Once that is settled between the two it's sweet fluffy love from there on out. These two aren't going to waste a second chance. The other mystery of who is threatening Christopher is flushed out at the end, but it took a backseat to the romance which is what I like. I look forward to the next installment in this series which I'm crossing my fingers is a certain ninja.

Loved this newest entry! Can’t wait for the next one!

I’m a fan of the second chance romance trope but usually not the miscommunication/lack of communication trope. When both parties think the other one ended things because of some outside force it always irritates me that no one mans up to say WTF? In this case the author sets the stage for it (kind of) and it is a bit more understandable so it worked for me.

Loved both Christopher and Greg and enjoyed their journey back to each other. Kept waiting for the moment that was going to light one of their tempers to cause them to realize there had been a problem twenty years earlier and it was well done when it happened.

The threat storyline was pretty weak, almost like it was an afterthought and the author realized she needed to come up with a villain. Even with that it was pretty easy to figure out who the bad guy was long before the reveal. That part of the storyline just didn’t work for me at all but everything else was well done.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed this 2nd book in the Hamilton’s Heroes series. I’m excited to see what will come in the future too. I love the community this author has created first in Souls of Chicago and now branching out with the Heroes.

Another reason I love this author’s writing is how strongly developed the characters always are. They are individuals but mesh perfectly, they feel like real, relatable people; even secondary characters (I would love to see more Maddie!!!). Greg & Topher got a second chance to heal and come together and it was beautiful and amazing. I also loved the whole premise not just of their relationship but the overall story; really resonated with me and had real life correlations, but not in a forceful or annoying way.
And who the “bad guy” turned out to be and their situation was a complete surprise to me-not what I expected and well done!

Overall a great read from a great series and amazing author! I can’t wait for more!

Past loves

This story has a lot going for it. You have second chance love, pseudo enemies to lovers, first kiss, and bodyguard and client. Greg and Christopher have a history, but can they overcome the hurt from their past?

I enjoyed the story and watching the two characters remember the good times of their past and figuring out what really caused their separation. This has great story telling and wonderful characters. While there is some angst, you know things have to become better. There is a mystery of who is after Christopher and I liked how it was written.

I have enjoyed both series that are linked with this book. While this is a stand alone within the series, it is always great to read about everything that has come before.

Another great add to the series. Greg and Christopher is a second chance for these guys and I couldn't be happier about it. We've briefly met Greg in other books so I was excited to know more about him, the family he craves and struggles of his past. Chris is honest, sweet and a good guy to his core. I loved seeing them reconnect and knowing the chemistry is still off the charts. We see them then and now which ties the story together for me. Fighting together to not only stay together but figure out who's after Chris make this a mix of sweet, sexy and action scenes. Loved seeing Hamilton Heroes grow and I can't wait for the next. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.
