From REMINGTON KANE, the author of the Young Guns Series TANNER: YEAR ONE - A Tanner Series Novel
Young Tanner Seven takes a contract on the leader of a militant group that had a deadly run-in with members of the New York mob. Joe Pullo joins Tanner as they hunt down the man and his followers. As he grows closer to his target, Tanner discovers that the militia is deadlier than he imagined, and that there's more at stake than the fulfilling of a contract.
Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.
Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.
He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.
Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.
The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.
“Tanner Year One” could also be called Tanner version 7.1 as the Seth Tanner begins his career. The new Tanner is off on his own, making rookie mistakes, but also showing the result of years of training with Spenser and Romeo. Sex slaves, militia, a cult dedicated to a goddess, and the mafia all are part of Tanner’s world in this the first book of a new series that fits between “Young Guns” and the original Tanner series. A welcome addition.
I thoroughly enjoy all books by Remington Kane. I read this one solidly for a day as I couldn't put it down. It tells the adventures of Tanner and his mafia mate Pullo seeking recent on a militia. They are greatly out numbered from the start . Will they manage to avenge their friends or is It a mission doomed. Recommend everyone who reads the Tanner series to buy this book. Can't wait for book 2
The first mission of the new Tanner picks up where Young Guns ended without missing a step. It's a basic Tanner book; lots of action, high body count, and just enough character development to see how Cody continues to grow. I liked it. I'm a fan and will continue to read the series with no hesitation. Recommended.
A young Tanner on the move and making things happen ,with a young Pullo. This was such a good story with Tanner fresh and out the gate. I loved the fact that he was not too cocky . The writer gets the chemistry right between the two men and it makes for a good story. Loved what happens to the Goddess.
Not sure how I missed reading this when I started. Pretty cool to go back to the beginning after reading most of the others twice. My only problem is Pullo. I grew up around the NY mafia and only ever saw disdaibn, and hypocrisy, especially with the local Catholic Churches. All sins absolved for a large check. My God can’t be bought.
Tanner series in any time frame is so fantastic and action packed you just can't put it down. Remington Kane's Tanner, Taken, Caliber and Blue Steel are all great and anxiously awaiting the next book.
Nice to see that Mr. Kane has all the bases covered with Tanner. Going back to the start of Tanner 7 should give us plenty more great stories from an absolutely great writer. Thank You
Another amazing read from Mr. Kane. I hope he never stops writing stories about Tanner. This one was fast paced, like the others, and shows Tanner coming into his own. Can't get enough Tanner.
Great to see how Tanner progresses on his own at the young age but can see how muck he has learned from his mentor and learning from his mistakes and deep down still misses his dear friend Romeo . Can't get enough of these books great read well done again Mr Kane xx
Don't mess with Joe Pullo & his people's cause then you're messing with Tanner. & crossing Tanner guarantees Tanner's coming for you… & Tanner ALWAYS wins!!
A fun, no brainer read. You have bad guys who are killers for the mob and then you have worse guys, one group runs a militia and another that runs a cult. The mob killers are piling up bodies. Plenty of violence for those who enjoy this type of action novel.
A long way from realistic..but readable,..glad to see Joe back in story! Not the thriller some of others have been.. Will follow the story for a bit more to see if gets better again!!
... between me and Tanner. This author has pressed all the right buttons for me and I think I may need to keep this going indefinitely. You keep writing them; I'll keep reading them!
Pretty good, but don’t know how Tanner got trained, why he’s got women trouble or what got him in the gangster business. Too many loose ends. Reminds me of the Destroyer series.
Has Tanner’s career as an assassin grows he and Joe Pulli find themselves partnering up again. This time they’re going to a Militia and to a cult. There’s a tremendous amount of suspense, stress, and anxiety at times. This is a really good book.
Tanner is making a name for himself by taking contracts, righting wrongs, inflicting his own brand of “real justice” to ones who prey on innocent people.
The voyage of tanner 7 in Year One explains so much how a Tanner develops his skill to plan moves that allow him to be successful in completing his contracts.
