When Aron, a postman with Morioson Postal Service, is in the process of moving home, he finds a bag. In it are nine letters that he was meant to have delivered twenty years ago. Shocked by his oversight, he is faced with a should he deliver them now, or abandon them forever. He chooses the former. What are these letters about? Who wrote them? Who are the recipients? Do these letters still carry a value after twenty years? In this unusual, poignant book, Alchem weaves a beautiful tale of life, love, lessons and challenges overcome.
J. Alchem is a voracious reader and a critically acclaimed author. He is the winner of several Awards and Accolades including Amazon Pen to Publish 2017 and The Best Author of the Year 2017-18.
The author has written in several magazines and newspapers and received appreciation for the same. His notable works include two well-received, bestselling titles; A Road Not Traveled and The Highway Man. One Award-Winning title, Undelivered Letters. And his latest releases, I am a home to butterflies, and Kalam.
Recently, he has sold screen adaptation rights of his book, Undelivered Letters to an award-winning producer.
It’s a story about nine undelivered letters due to the negligence of Aron Paris, a postman who has an athletic body, black hair, and clean shave oval face and Sara Marcos love of his life. After 23 years of their married life, they shift to some other place; while shifting Sara found a black leather bag of Aron covered in layers of dust with few undelivered letters.
Aron immediately understands the blunder he had made. An uninvited pain had enveloped him. He forgot to deliver the letters and thinking of those people who waited for this letters make him feel guilty. He decided to deliver the letters he should have done 20 years ago. While delivering letters Aron experience so many emotions at the same time. It needs the courage to accept mistakes and apologize for them but Aron has that courage and determined to correct his mistake by delivering the letters to their recipients.
Carl, Samuel, and Cathy were three recipients of those undelivered letters. The letters left a huge impact on their lives. The way Cathy waited for her husband and took care of their daughter, Kara. Samuels's love for Elizabeth and the way this letter shook Samuel's life. The Carl had an impact on the life of Bakintin Lenit and the way he shows the right path to Lenit was my favorite part so far. Each and every emotion is written in a very magnificent way that it will touch your heart and anyone can easily relate or live their lives while reading.
The author does justice with each character and portrayed in a very manageable way. It's in a Kindle version now having the story of only three undelivered letters and will be out soon as a paperback with remaining letters and their stories. We are living in an age of technology where people usually don't write letters but for me, it's a treat to read this and experience such a beautiful emotion. I would definitely recommend this to all. It's a roller coaster ride of emotions and I'm eagerly waiting for the other letters to read as soon as they available. It's worthy of your time.
Some of my favorite lines from this book -
1. The love of an adventurer towards book was inexplicable. We did not have our favorite people around, but we did ensure we had books to accompany us to those places.
2. Sometimes you get stuck and it took days for you to find a way through the lurch, landslides and natural calamities. It is the life of a mountaineer.
3. You don't choose the novels, they choose you.
4. A perfect revenge would be ensuring that no writer commits suicide after rejection.
Undelivered Letters is the story of a postman, Aron, who is shifting to another place along with his wife Sara when Sara comes across an abandoned bag. This bag is a normal bag you see a postman carrying but it has something inside which is capable of changing not a life or two but nine. It has 20 years of pain, grief, injustice, long wait. It has 9 UNDELIVERED LETTERS.
Aron is sad on finding it, he is grieving the moment he forgot to deliver these letters, he feels guilty of his negligence, but he just doesn't sit and cry. He decides to face the recipients of these letters, deliver these letters and face the outcome be it a rebuff, sue, appreciation or whatever. And from here the story takes another but important turn.
Now we come across three stories (out of these 9 undelivered letters, author chose 3 stories to tell, maybe he has a sequel in his mind to talk about rest 6 letters and stories behind them)
The first story is about Cathy and her beautiful daughter Kara. Kara misses her dad to whom she never got to see but heard only in the stories her mom told her. She is waiting for a knock at her door along with her mom and this knock is caged in the letter with Aron for 20 years.
The second story is about Samuel who is accused of murdering his beloved wife. The court gives him lifetime imprisonment but the key to his mental or emotional imprisonment is with the Aron in one of the nine Undelivered Letters.
The third story is about a book thief. Thefts are happening in the town and someone is stealing the books from the bookstores, libraries and even from the houses. The famous detective Carl is asked to solve this theft mystery. But the solution to these thefts is lying in the bag of the Aron for 20 years.
Now comes the climax part.
The climax of all the three stories when Aron knocks all the three doors one by one to deliver the letters and apologies. Here the book takes the emotional and heartbreaking turns. Here I couldn't control myself from crying, crying and crying. I just loved this part.
What I loved about the book:
1. LETTERS: I just loved the theme the author chose. 2. QUOTES: two of my favorites are:
"You don't choose the novels, they choose you"
"It was magical to know how to people read the same book and imagined different things"
3. STORIES: I loved the story of Cathy and Kara. I loved the story of book thief also.
4. CHARACTERS: I loved the Character of Sara, Cathy and Kara. I loved the Character of Carl and Lenit too.
What I did not like:
1. The book is too short; I wanted to read more; more about the characters, about the more letters. 2. This book is not available as a paperback. I wanted to keep it with me like a treasure. :( 3. I have to wait for its paperback for more letters and more backstory (As the author announced in the last of his book) and this wait is killing me. Hope it does not take years like Aron took to deliver UNDELIVERED LETTERS.
Overall, it is an amazing read, a book you should not miss at any cost.
This is a story which has a lot going for it. Aron was a postman many years back. He falls in love and gets married to Sara.
Accidentally, Sara discovers a bunch of letters he should have delivered 20 years back. Guilt gnaws at Aron – what does the non-delivery of these letters mean to the intended recipients? He goes about trying to find out. Here, the book moves on to the stories of people connected to these letters.
I found each of the three stories covered in depth to be strong emotionally and your heart goes out to the characters involved. While the digression into the individual stories seems sudden, the stories are tied together at the end excellently. I do think though that the format and central storyline offered much more scope for a bigger and deeper story.
This a cute and quick read – which I certainly recommend. Many of the stories are very moving.
I received a free copy of the book for providing an honest review.
When you are cleaning your room or shifting, you come across the old, forgotten things; things which once held the value of you.
Introduction
“Undelivered Letters” is written by J.Alchem.
It tells the story of Aron, an ex-postal worker, who discovers undelivered letters in his house during a move. His wife, Sara, convinces him to deliver these to their original recipients even if the letters have been delayed for twenty years. The stories of the recipients and the closure offered by Aron form the rest of the story.
Recommendation
Undelivered Letters is a story that will linger in your thoughts long after you have finished it.
The book is written in a relatively non-linear form with multiple threads coming together. I found the individual stories to be heartwarming. These stories have themes around nostalgia, abandonment, guilt and ,of course, closure. The stories along with their compelling characters makes these stories stick in the readers’ minds.
I am your quintessential simple person and from one quintessential simple person to another, don’t miss out on this gem which reminds us of the not so quintessential part of our lives- emotions, the most important ones, the simple yet complicated ones, the ones which hurts or pleases us the most.
While reading the book I felt like the author picked up the simple feelings we go through every day and magnified each of their intensity to a thousand so we can understand the resonance of our emotions a little bit better and appreciate the importance of small little things - like mentors we forget to thank, loved ones we always take for granted or the jobs we’re unable to complete unless it’s too late to make amends. In other words this is the kind of book that makes you ‘feel’ even when you’re feeling a little reluctant to read because of your mood or the author’s prose. So if you have a dollar with you and some time (say an hour) on your hands then do read this book and dive into the lives of Cathy,Lentin and Samuel to learn what their predicament is all about.
Warning : Do not start this book unless you have a handkerchief or a packet of kleenex at an arm’s length and your aforementioned arm with the rest of your body in a secluded silent place where no one can see your overflowing tears or distract you from reading this heartwarming collection of beautifully entwined tales.
Title: Undelivered Letters Author: J. Alchem My rating: 3.5/5
Undelivered Letters is a simple and short novella with a beautiful and heart touching tale. It is a light read with a breezy narration.
The story starts with Aron and Sara who are married for 23 years and are in the process of moving to a new home. While packing, Sara finds a bag with 9 Undelivered Letters. Aron worked as a postman 20 years ago and had missed delivering these letters. He decides to deliver them even though he is scared about the consequences. What if these were important letters? What if it is a letter from a father to his daughter who waited for years to receive his letter ? What if the person who sent the letter is no more alive? What if Aron is too late? What if he could be the cause of many of their grievances?
In spite of all these "What if's?" and fears he decides to deliver them thinking it's the right thing to do. He hence travels miles and miles in search of these people.
The story then goes back 20 years and we get to read about Cathy, Steven and Carl's story. Their stories definitely takes us on an emotional roller coaster. These are not just stories but they teach us so many things. They teach us patience. They teach us about life. And about what roads we are willing to take for the people we love. And to what extent we can sacrifice for them.
A loving wife waiting for her husband and a daughter waiting for her father, a man falsely accused of murder, a boy who is taught to take the right path in order to get revenge for the wrong that happened to his father. All three are such beautiful stories.
This is the kind of book you would want to relax with on a cozy day. This is the kind of book you would want to take with you on a holiday to read while travelling. This is the kind of book you would want to relax with on a beach. This is the kind of book you would want to read when you want something to warm your heart.
It takes you on a nostalgic experience taking you back to those days when we wrote and received letters. The feeling of holding a letter in your hand, reading it and letting the emotions flow, weren't those the best times?
The book does have little flaws like the writing style. It can be improved and it can become a little more mature. The story felt a little abrupt which can be understood since it's a short read. But other than that, the characters are likeable and the plot is good. A good read nevertheless. Looking forward to read more books by this author.
Undelivered Letters. Name is enough to make you curios about the content inside and then comes the book cover and tagline, “What if you never knew about a letter someone had written for you and you receive it after 20 years?”
It is not simple kind of book where a guy and girls meet, fall in love and then live madly ever after. It is piece of pure emotions with 4 stories interlinked together. It is something I have never read and enjoyed before.
Book is divided into three parts.
First part has the story of Aron and Sara. Aron who once was a postman. It is the story of Flashback and present around both Sara and Aron while they find out 9 undelivered letters in an almost abandoned bag. This story is the moving factor of the book.
P.s. I thought this book will be a collection of few letters but it turned out something really exceptional and amazing and it was where the author had me completely.
Second part of the book has three different stories. Story of Cathy, story of Carl and Story of Samuel. All the stories are back in time 1980 to 1990. The time when there were no telephones, no whatsapp, no email, just letters. These three stories were the backbone of the book because these stories were the ones who would get to see Aron in their lives after 20 years carrying letters for them to give a different climax to their stories. Story of Cathy and Carl made me speechless. Loved them to the core.
Third part of the book has climaxes. This part is full of emotions, full of tears, full of appreciation for Aron. It is the part where Aron delivers the letters. I cried in this part. This part took my heart away. I loved it completely.
Overall, this book is just “wow” with 4 stories and 6 climaxes. This has made to the list of my favorite books of all the time.
The letters Aron forgot to deliver made a nostalgia in the mind of me. I used to wait for the letters from my parents when I was away from me. When I read their letters it is as they are coming in front of me and speaking to me. Now in our generation we are losing such moments where post office and letters are becoming memories. The novel which combined the four different family stories gives an involvement to the thread of the novel. With one sitting we can finish this novel because of its small structure. The main characters Zara and Adam (Postman) who decide to deliver the letters they forgot to deliver twenty years before. As the story develops we come across three life situations where the love becomes the main actor. Love makes us to wait (story of Cathy, Adam and Kary family). Love is too blind that even death cannot make separate the heart of such people (Samuel and Elizabeth story). Love helps us to become someone in our love, take the revenge which help others (Detective Carl and Bankintin Lentin). At the end the letters they received from the hand of Adam make some impact in our life. Though the years past the letters have much value
The book 'Undelivered letters' is not just a book, its a treat. It brings back the nostalgia of good old days when letters were the harbinger of joy.
The story is of an erstwhile postman, Aron, who on his later life discovers that he has nine undelievered letters with him. Stricken by his conscience, he ventures to deliver each one of them.
The plot is a meltdown of a couple of heart-warming narratives. The language is lucid and the narration, although non-linear, is smooth.
What if you never knew about a letter someone had written for you and you after receive it after 20 years
This line encaptures the imagination of anyone who reads it. It a classic case of what if —what if it happened as the author describes, what if it can save a life of a person, what if it is from a loved one, what if it is from your mentor....
Can words written on a piece of paper change the life of people to whom they are addressed to? This is the idea that the author, J Alchem explores in his book.
The story is simple; a couple Aron and Sara are in the process of shifting home when Sara finds Aron's bag with 9 undelivered letters which Aron had forgotten to deliver during his career as a postman. Now twenty years later, it is upon him to deliver those letters, and he does it with absolute honesty, extreme earnestness, and a bit of fear too.
In this short novella of 70 odd pages, the author has written 3 stories with great sensitivity, taking time to explore the different parts of human life. Each narrative takes a separate emotion and weaves a poignant tale which resonates through the soul. The stories speak of warmth, of feelings, of love, of forgiveness, of respect.
Whether it is a wife and child waiting for the long lost husband/father, whether it is a falsely convicted man getting a way to procure justice, or a right path shown to a young boy who goes on to achieve great success, each is a different take on a human life which can feel so many varied emotions. Each story has a common theme of waiting but dealt in a heartrending way.
As usual there are a few niggles, I felt the writing could be slightly better, a slight maturity is needed in the writing. Also the stories were not complete, they portrayed emotions but left questions behind. They were not well developed as individual stories, too many unanswered threads, which left me with an odd feeling of abruptness
But one cannot deny that the book as it is, is extremely powerful too. Such is the power of words and such is the penmanship of the author J Alchem who has gone over and beyond the words to give us a story filled with emotions, to show us words matter whether it is on a page as a letter or on a pages as a novel.
Undelivered letters by J. Alchem is an good conceptual fiction story. Short read of around 30 minutes available on Amazon (Kindle format). I had a chance of reading Author's previous work "A Highway Man" a beautiful novella contains 2 short stories. So eventually when starting this one I expected the same kind of good work from him and he doesn't failed this time too.
A good storyline about a postman forgetting to deliver 9 letters unfortunately, he found those undelivered letters after 20 years. What will he decide deliver it or not? Will it worth to deliver after twenty years? What's the story behind those letters? A delightful story with three more back stories in those letters.
Just enjoy the read with Author's flawless smooth narration, Do pick the "Undelivered letters " worth a read also helps to regain the last hope.
In this age of swift communication, when we have lost the value of human connection, there come Undelivered Letters by J. Alchem to make you realize the essence of those beautiful letters that contained real emotions and an equal value of feelings.
Letters were used in olden times to communicate. It always demanded a great amount of patience to wait for the letters. It was a great feeling to write down your emotions and then look forward to the letters to be received by the person intended and get to know their answers. The fragrance of ink entwined with that of words refreshed the readers and filled them with happiness.
This book is replete with beautiful human emotions of joy, happiness, love, and humanity. Sara and Aron are head over heels in love with each other. Aron used to be a postmaster at his young age. One day, when he got few letters to be delivered, he missed them in his joy of getting a promotion. After 20 years, while they were busy shifting their house, Sara discovered the bag full of undelivered letters. This revelation left Aron guilty and sad. He felt regretful for his callousness. As he set out on his mission of delivering the letters to their recipients, he comes across several lives that were eagerly waiting for those bouquets of words. Those souls felt relieved after reading those letters!
The book has been written meticulously and passionately. Each life associated with those undelivered letters touched me deeply. The comely stories are weaved splendidly to filtrate your heart and fill them with the warmth of emotions. “You don’t choose the novels, they choose you.” Yes, books have a magic within them which they impart into the hearts of its readers. The development of the plot is amazing. Moreover, the description of each emotion has been done effectively. The author has been passionate in penning down the heartfelt stories that are bound to touch the hearts of its readers. I have totally immersed been in the land these stories connected me to. The flow was good and the language was also nice. The best part of the book was its aesthetic aspect that kept me glued to it. Totally loved it!
One should head for this book to acquaint oneself with the beauty of letters.
This book was sent to me by the super adorable Sidra for an honest review.
The book is a one-sitting read, a novella of sorts, of the story of a postman, Aron, who discovers some undelivered letters from twenty years ago in his house, as he is preparing for shifting. The narrative is simple and easy to understand, the language is flowy. There are three stories that are traced by Aron in his discovery for the senders & recipients of these letters that were never delivered at the time that they were supposed to.
The story of the girl who lost her father, and discovered many years later that his bag had been found by a stranger who had written a letter to her mother, was my favourite. I could feel the pain of this little girl, who had sought closure for most of her life, and the relief when she finally got it, coupled with confusion as to whether she should be angry at the postman who screwed things up for her and he mother, or grateful as she got the news belatedly, so her mother did not have to deal with the grief of losing her spouse.
The end confused me a little. I do not understand what the author was trying to say by emphasising on Aron holding the ninth letter in his hand. The confusion is still gnawing at me.
Undelivered letters is a lovely read, definitely recommended. Thank you for the copy, Sidra.

Undelivered letters by J Alchem is yet another piece of a masterpiece by J Alchem. I'm in love with the way he expresses his emotions via his stories. His last book 'The highway man' is one of my favorites.
The book 'Undelivered letters' is a totally different kind of book and I bet you have not read anything like that. It is a story of a postman named Aron who forgets to deliver some 9 letters who he was supposed to be delivering 20 years back. So Aron decides to deliver those letters after being convinced by his dear wife Sara. Then the story continues and Aron delivers those letters to their owners. Carl, Samuel, and Cathy were three characters who received their letters and their story is mentioned in this book.
I think the author has Cathy's character by keeping every bookworm in mind and I can relate to it. She found the love of her life by her fondness for books. Carl's character was a detective who changes the mind of a young lad again this story is related to books. Samuel was accused of murdering his own wife whom he loved dearly.
I'm still in the influence of those characters, that amazing book and the way of writing. J Alchem is a good narrator, storyteller, and writer. Pick his books and you will never regret.
We all make mistakes at work. But what happens when the ghosts of our past mistake come back to haunt us after 20 years? How many of us possess the mental strength to face our mistakes rather than burying them forever? How many of us have the courage to face individuals who have faced loss and pain as a result of our mistake? Aron does. Aron the postman, the protagonist of J. Alchem's latest offering "Undelivered Letters" takes us on a tour of simple yet heartfelt emotions, which lingers in our hearts for a lifetime.
The story begins when Aron, a former postman, and his lovely wife Sara prepare to shift their home. Their romance in the past is described through alternating flashback chapters and very soon I start to grow a fondness for these two sweet and innocent characters. Their journey through the little joys and sorrows of life is beautifully portrayed by the writer here. Sara finds Aron's old post bag by chance and they both are shocked to find what's inside - a bunch of undelivered letters. Letters which Aron was supposed to deliver 20 years ago, but forgot. Aron is upset with himself; angry, confused, scared, and sad at the same time. But Sara soothes him down and gives him the courage to face his mistake and embark on the path of redemption. Sara lives with a personal tragedy. She hasn't heard back from her estranged father for several years. She writes to him and sets those letters on sail on the sea, knowing they would never reach her father and she would never receive a reply. What if somebody, like her is waiting for a letter from a dear one too? She motivates Aron to deliver the letters to their rightful recipients now. Thus begins a journey which takes the reader through a whirlwind of emotionally poignant tales. In the next part of the book, we get introduced to some of the unfortunate people, who never received their prized letters 20 years ago.
The story narrates to us the tragic tales surrounding 3 undelivered letters, among a total of 9 at Aron's disposal. The first such tale is about the mother and daughter duo Cathy and Kara. Kara's dad Adam, a mountaineer, had been missing for 3 years and is deeply remembered each night by her and her mom Cathy. Cathy narrates her love story with Adam to Kara each night and it breaks her heart. Their wait for Adam is an endless stride of grief and sorrow. As each night passes, the rays of hope grow more bleak for them. 20 years later, Aron does reach Cathy's address with her letter, but Cathy was no more. He hands over the letter to Kara and watches her cry. Who had sent the letter? What was the content of that letter? Read the story to know more.
The second tale is about love birds Samuel and Elizabeth. Though they are completely opposite in nature, they love each other immensely. They get married against Elizabeth's father's wish and live happily. But, not for long. Elizabeth dies of an accident and Samuel is wrongly framed for her murder. He ends up in a mental asylum. Aron does reach him finally to deliver his letter. He reads out the letter to a disinterested Samuel. This letter is one of the emotional strong points of the story and it made me cry. It establishes the triumph of true love and forgiveness above anything else in the world. I daresay, this story will definitely make each sensitive reader cry.
Lastly, my favorite tale in the story is about veteran Detective Carl and how he brought about a positive change to the life of a man named Lenit. Lenit faces a great personal tragedy very early in his life and resorts to juvenile delinquency. Carl catches him red handed, but instead of destroying his future, gives him the elixir of life. Lenit finds a purpose of life enlightened by the wisdom of Carl. The letter Aron had was meant for Carl, but he had long died before Aron could reach him. So, he finds the sender instead. And yes, it was Lenit who had written the letter 20 years ago. I won't throw any more spoilers here, as this is such a beautiful story that every reader should read it. This tale fills your heart with a strange emotion, a strange sense of happiness which is imbued in tears of sorrow. Yes, it will make you smile and cry at the same time. I was really bowled over reading this story.
In the end, you can just help but wonder what were the contents of the 6 other letters which Aron delivered 20 years later than he was supposed to. I tried to think of a few possibilities:
* A job offer letter to an unemployed man. He had high hopes for this job, but when he received no reply, his dreams were crushed. This job could have changed his life. He never got any other job later. He went on to try one failed business venture after another and ended up miserably. When Aron finally delivered his letter, he was on his deathbed, and he cursed Aron that he will also die alone and penniless.
* Letter from a mother to his son from jail. In the letter, she had mentioned that she was innocent and did not commit the crime for which she was acquitted. She requested him to meet her just once in jail. Well, the son never went to meet her, and by the time Aron delivered the letter, the mother had died.
*Lastly, a surprise! A letter for Sara from her dad. He writes in the letter that he is now an established musician in Santorini, Greece, and invites her over to come and stay with him. However, it was too late by the time Aron found the letter. Sara's dad was already dead. All his life, he had loved her and waited to hear from her. He died with the grief that his daughter had forgotten him.
Yes, this book inspires you to imagine and dream of such touching tales like the examples I have stated above. J Alchem writes simple, yet writes beautifully. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and highly recommend it to everyone. Go for it and you will love it!
It is that time of the year when I start searching for short and sweet books as I desperately try to complete my Goodreads challenge for the year. And that’s when their team approached me for an honest review in exchange for a review copy. I readily accepted it because of its name Undelivered Letters and tagline ‘What if you never knew about a letter someone had written for you and you after receive it after 20 years?’. This line encaptures anyone who sights this book on a shelf.
The plot of this book is about a postman who forgets to deliver some letters and finds them almost 20 years later. The novel narrates four different family stories making this book an interesting read. It is later these letters that bring a closure to their problems. The author has used simple language yet had succeeded in adding all these complex emotions, giving the characters and plot an authentic feel. One can easily finish this novel in one sitting because of its small size.
Overall, a good read. Recommended.
A review copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
“Undelivered Letters”, is a short novel capturing a simple day from Sara’s & Aron’s life when they are shifting to a new place, leaving behind the place where they spent most of their married life.
While packing stuff, Aron finds letters which he forgot to deliver 20 years back on his last day as postmen. He decides to deliver the letter and we get to hear the heart-wrenching story behind those letters!
In today's era where communication totally happens through digital means, this book is a must-read. It will take you in an era when letters were an important part of life.
The book is pretty short if you have an hour to spare, do read this book.
I finished this in about 40 minutes, and I am glad I read it. This book is a short and beautiful read, portraying love and a variety of emotions.
The story of Aron, a postman who got promoted later, delivering a set of letters he was supposed to deliver 20 years ago! The narration shifts back and forth between the timeline in Aron's and others' stories; the stories of empathy, passion, love, heartbreak and expectation.
“When you are cleaning your room or shifting, you come across the old, forgotten things; things which once held the value for you.”
This is one book I would prefer to come across and re-read again.
Firstly, thanks to the author for providing me this book for free in exchange of an honest review. The plot of the story is very interesting and the author manages to keep the reader engaged till the last page. The concept is not new though the presentation of the story is great. The only problem the book has its incompleteness. The author has left a lot of burden on the guesswork of the reader.Hence I deducted a star. Otherwise this book is much better than his previous work "The Highway Man". I would recommend this book for anyone who wants a goodread on Kindle.
This is a booklet by J. Alchem. In this story we meet Aron and Sara who were buzy moving house with a nostalgic notion when them stumbled onto some letters which were waiting to be reach to there destined place, to be read, to be heard by their oblivious readers for the last 20 years.
It took guts to right the wrong. I saw a man owning his mistake.
For someone which could be a little bit mistake, for the right person that could be devastating, gut wrenching sorrow, a bitter - sweet closer, a life changing event, a plea for forgiveness - pardon.
To left a long lasting impression you don't need something in a massive scale.
I thank Priyanka Verma for suggesting and providing me the book. Thank you so much! It was one of my memorable read.
J. Alchem proved once again that simple concepts with an aesthetic sense are still alive in many hearts!!
Blurb : Aron, a postman with Marioson Postal Service, found an abandoned bag. It had a few letters that were supposed to be delivered - 20 years ago. He had a choice, either to deliver them now, or abandon them forever. He chooses the former.
About: I do judge a book by it's cover and It proved right. The title is just perfect. The plot was too perfect, intriguing. This can be completed in an hour, so for those people who need a welcome break from the monotony and stress of life, this is a must-read.
I had recently read a story - The girl who I will never understand and in that, one chapter had everything I love to read in a book - it made me laugh, cry, think. I firmly affirm that's the magic of an astounding writer. Their writing take you through a flow of thoughts deporting you into your soul frames where you kinda identify yourself and meet your soul.
This story is also a nostalgic reminder of my childhood days when writing to grandparents and waiting for their reply letter was one of the happiest moments in my life. The author has perfectly blended the story in all its heartwarming moments and portrayed true love. Maturity is not when we start speaking "big things" but actually it is when we start understanding "small things".
Read this book for sure. I am sure it will change your perception on things.
My rating is Narration:5/5 Story plot:5/5 Cover:4/5
In today’s immensely hectic and robotic lives, the essence and emotions a letter holds within it is somehow getting extinct. But the charm and emotions of letters will never lose their way in the horde of WhatsApp and Facebook. The author chose a highly unique and beautiful concept to pen down such a lovely book that stayed with me for long after I finished it. What appealed to me the most about this book is its concept.
The theme of the book is about a postman who finds a bag of abandoned letters, each associated with a roller coaster of emotions. The stories are woven around some undelivered letters which were written 20 years back and had failed to reach their recipients then. What happens when these letters were delivered after 20 years is all about the book. I loved the emotional journey that I had with each story.
The stories are sensitive, the narration is beautiful and the language is lucid. There are many small tit bits and moments that are beautifully woven with the main stories and make them altogether an awesome read. Kudos to the author for penning such a wonderful book.
All in all, Undelivered Letters is a captivating and highly enjoyable read that is recommended to everyone who are looking for something different to read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book.
The plot is about a postman who discovers a few letters that he forgot to deliver about 20 years ago. The book begins with some details about Aron, the postman, and Sara, his wife, who are planning to move to a new place. Sara is having a flashback of how they met, how much she loved Aron and the place that they are moving out of. She finds an old bag with Aron's stuff in it. They discover that a few letters which were in the bag were not delivered to their recepients. He decides to deliver them and finds that the letters meant a lot to a few of the recepients who have had pivotal points in their life around those letters. We have three sub-stories, revolving around the letters and their receipients, which are ordered well and are concise. They bring out people and situations from various walks of life. There is a lot of unnecesary detail in the beginning of the book but the sub-stories are compact and well written. Aron's reaction to the discovery of the letters felt a little out of place. The weaving together of the three stories and their order(stack like ordering) is well thought out. I liked the format and size of the book since it didn't take too much time to read. The story just sailed through with the good writing. All in all, a very good read.
Undelivered Letters by J. Alchem is a short story that brings forth the emotions and closure the characters experience when they receive letters from their loved ones, after a period of 20 years.
Just as the summary of the book implies, What if you never knew that someone had written a letter to you years ago because you simply never received it? Aaron is a postman, who forgets to deliver the remaining letters the day he gets promoted. After 20 years, he finds them and is devastated as a result of his negligence. He makes up his mind to deliver each one of them no mater how far and how long it takes.
The story is about how the arrival of these letters affects those who have been waiting. The writing style is superb, as is always the case with J. Alchem, the author. He has a special gift of stimulating our emotions in the most brilliant of ways!
Undelivered Letters is a short story and can be read in a couple of hours. So, if you are looking for something quick but substantial to give you the warm fuzzies (apt for this time of the year), then do try this book. It will not disappoint!
Seldom do we come across a book which delivers a surprise and touches your heart. Undelivered Letters by J. Alchem is one such book. The book opens on a fine day when Aron and Sara discover a bag with some letters which were supposed to be delivered by Aron when he used to be a postman… twenty years back… What follows is a deluge of emotions and pathos entwined in three separate heart-rending tales. The story flows in an iterative manner giving insights of the events happened decades before and then catapulting to the present. Besides the central theme of poignance which surrounds its protagonist, Aron the author beautifully brings out the feeling of love and hope. It tells us how a mother keeps her daughter elated with the hope of her father’s return; how anger born out of love makes us behave in manner so terrible and aghast that it destroys the life of another; how one small conversation with a person which ignites hope in him and shows him the right direction can entirely change his life. But all these themes ride on the idea that how few words written on a piece of paper can change the life of people to whom they are addressed to. On the downside, the book is merely an hour read and could have been a novel, had the author elaborated the content. Consequently, the emotions though portrayed well do lack the better development of its characters. But undeniably, the book is an overall treat. It flows like a stream, churning the very basic human emotions and stays with you long after you have finished it. A must read off course !
Someone has said it right, “Every man is guilty of all the good he did not do” That is how the story unfurls.
With Aron as the protagonist, we will travel through the tale and enjoy every nook and corner of the page. Walking through the past with Sara, Aron’s wife, reveals the sweetest love they’ve got. With few pages turned, the title ‘Undelivered Letters’ will be justified.
The tense of the plot starts with Aron discovering letters undelivered by him, which should have been delivered before twenty years. Sara herself is a living example who have waited for one such letter for years. Aron realises the importance of those letters and he sets out to deliver those.
Will he find the people alive, if so how will they react? Will he able to deliver his letters? I wish these questions shall itch your mind and you straightaway run to read the tale. It’s available in e-book format.
I personally have loved the first part, the love tale of Adam and Cathy. This tale, I believe, will probably be readers’ choice who wish to fall in love with a handsome, adventurer and a bookaholic man.
The author rightly knows how to steal the attention of the readers and how to carefully make it sail till the end. We will be having three different stories revealing three various lives and people, acquainted with the undelivered letters. The characters are justified at its best.
Undelivered Letters – Delivers emotions at the right time through right words.
The book starts with a husband and a wife who are shifting the home and the wife is going through a heavy dose of nostalgia when she discovers old things which became irrelevant with time but evoke many memories as they come to the vision. During this discovery eventually leads Sara to an old black bag which belonged to her husband Aron which he used when he used to be a postman. The bag consisted some old sheets of paper. Not any common sheets of paper, but sheets powerful enough to alter the reality of those to whom they belonged.
The narrative of this first part of the book was very good. The way the story of Sara and Aron was told by dwelling back and forth in time was brilliant. The author successfully sets a solid built up for the rest of the book.
The second part of the book focus on three interwined stories. These stories being very short in nature lacks character development a bit. Yet these stories are are beautiful and takes full advantage of solid built up of the first part. In the third part of the book which takes place in 2013, Aron is set on fulfilling the destiny of a postman and to complete a circle which was incomplete for twenty years because of him.
The pace of the book is steady and narrative is brilliant. One of the best thing about the book is the way the author gave a wonderful closure to the story of Aron and Sara.
I think it was the best work of J. Alchem till date.
The cover is simple, yet effectively conveys the theme. The plot unfolds slowly and subtly. The story is dated back to 1950's where letters were only the effective mode of communication. I had a prior notion that the book may merely be a collection of letters written to someone. In reality, the stories of that of senders, recipients and the postman Aron were beautifully blended in the form of a book. This style of narration took me by surprise.
'Undelivered Letters' is the story of a postman Aron, who had forgotten to deliver some of the letters on the last day of his job. He stumbles upon them 20 years later while he was preparing to moving out. Aron is filled with a deep sense of regret and guilt due to his folly. Even though the addresses on the letters were illegible, he is determined to deliver them to their rightful owners after knowing the plight and anxiety of his wife Sara for not having heard from her father in many years.
The author then, narrates the story of the three recipients Carl, Kara and Samuel. The characters even though they are different from each other feel the same surge of emotions. The story is packed with the heartfelt dialogues and powerful one liners. The narration is lucid and will keep the readers engrossed in the book.
In a time, where you will find many novels that are centered on social media, this one is new and refreshing.
It is a combination of various stories that are connect seamlessly with one character.
Aron was a postman 20 years ago when he started his carrier. He falls in love and gets married, life was going well till he discovered a bag full of undelivered letters. He had forgotten to deliver those letters to the recipients. He decides to go back to those addresses and deliver the letters which were sent 20 years back.
