Hirohiko Araki ( 荒木飛呂彦) is a Japanese manga artist. He left school before graduation from Miyagi University of Education.
He enjoys the baseball manga Kyojin No Hoshii (Star of the Giants); the video games Mario Kart and Bomberman; and likes Prince and other African-American singers, as well as jazz, rock, and rap.
Josuke and his friends encounter a enigmatic Italian chef, a maniac rocker, and an obsessive manga artist in their quest to unravel the mysterious occurrences in their town. The stories in this volume definitely earn the description "bizarre" as promised in the title.
Another edition to part four. This volume covered “Let’s go eat some Italian food” to “Let’s go to the manga artist’s house.” With the introduction of one of my fav characters in Jojo- Rohan. And the reintroduction of one of most iconic characters Joseph Joestar.
This volume felt both wild and fun, but also kind of anticlimactic. They have their big battle with Chili Pepper, but then meet new stand users like an Italian Chef and a Manga Artist. The intensity of the last Part isn’t quite there.
Love that the premise for the first half of this is just Josuke and Okuyasu going on a date. Also I hate to say it but I kinda get why Araki is so obsessed with Rohan bc why is he kinda....
Well looks like we're mostly sticking to one off stories for now. I've said before I was hoping for some epic plot brewing in here, but these stories were still a ton of fun. The Itallian food story was hilarious and a great subversion of the usual JoJo formula. I want to know more about that damn invisible baby and the manga writer arc is great, with some super trippy visuals. I want more from all this, the potential is wild.
This Part has gotten to the point where I’m realizing it has my favorite Araki art in it. The softness makes some of the more tender moments hit harder, and the faces have become much more expressive. The fights in here are also really good. “Let’s Go Eat Some Italian Food” is a nice little departure. Chili Peppers is a good fight, if a bit clunky all around. The Invisible Baby is great and offers a really good moment of character growth. And finally, this volume ends with the introduction of Rohan. Rohan is one of my favorite characters from the Part, and at this point he’s deliciously maladjusted. This series is starting to gain some footing.
thought about giving it 5 stars because of the italian restaurant and also bc of the invisible baby. invisible baby specifically is 5 stars bc i cried. but the rest just doesnt do it for me :(

- I want to drink that water that removes all the effects of sleep deprivation without actually having to sleep - josuke isn't the smartest, but compared to okuyasu, he's a genius. - the italian food arc is so weird, it feels out of place, almost like a filler. - frieza, is that you? - oh i get it now. red hot chili pepper. - ah yes, joseph always gets the antics arcs - honestly, a vanishing baby is more annoying than a visible baby - it's confirmed my theory! the bad guys once defeated, get smaller because they becoms less intimidating - a manga artist as a stand? cool insert there, sir
With this volume we are now a third of the way through Part 3 of the Jojo Saga. Looking at the reviews people seem to be loving it but I just don't get it. Am I missing something? There are a lot of interesting things being brought up but nothing seems to be coming together. The characters are OK but not up to those from previous Parts of the saga. As I say we are a third through now so there is still plenty of time for things to come together and get better. This volume is split into four sets of chapters. The first has to do with a mysterious Italian restaurant that has just opened in town. This does a great job of building suspense as we are just waiting for something bad to happen while they are eating their meal. The end is a bit of a let down but it's another great Stand. The second set of chapters sees the return of Chilli Pepper and takes up about half the volume. This has some good moments but goes on way too long and nothing seems to come to a head of great resolved. The third set of chapters revolves around an invisible baby which again is an interesting idea but is rather off putting when they talk about how they found out it was a girl. WRONG! We then get the invisible poop joke of course. I also don't like the way they have changed a returning charter into basically a punch line. The last set of chapters is the best and probably why this volume seems to get rather high marks. A really interesting character is introduced (who I believe has a spinoff of his own). His Stand is really amazing and some an interesting idea. The more you thing about it the more scary it becomes. I look forward to seeing how this goes.
I really eat this shit up every time. Tonio was fun and the chili pepper plot was actually quite compelling. Also hats off to the invisible baby. Idk I just thought the whole thing was very funny. Great read. Short read. Also I know Okuyasu is stupid but 10/10 character in my opinion. And Rohan is a literal freak but we all knew that already. Truly one of the oddest guys ever.
Couldn’t help but have a gigantic smile on my face when I read through the contents page seeing what arcs were featured here. I love all these stories they’re so much fun with a great balance of lighthearted, fun and silly stories like Tonio’s restaurant and baby Shizuka with darker and more serious stories like the Red Hot Chilli Pepper arc!
Don’t have much to say about Tonio besides the fact that it’s super fun. Araki was obviously having a blast writing it and it shows. Tonio has such a menacing vibe in this arc it seems like he genuinely might be a villain until the end when you realise he just takes his cooking very seriously. This arc also gave us maid Josuke so for that alone I think this was well worth the read.
I knew the red hot chilli pepper arc was gonna be a banger when I saw the first chapters cover page. Araki had really stepped up his art as this part has gone on it looks fantastic. I’m surprised he decided to tackle this arc so early in the manga I had always assumed red hot chilli pepper would be a long term villain but I appreciate Araki not wasting any time and it’s a great fight all the same. It’s such a terrifying stand and the fact it can use electricity to travel anywhere makes it seemingly unbeatable before the fight starts. I enjoy the added complication of Joseph arriving to help deal with the threat and the implications that has on Josukes character considering he’s the one who will have to protect him. Okuyasu shows us yet again another prime example of just how terrifying his ability could be if it was in the hands of literally anybody else. Still, him erasing the space between chilli pepper and him is a sick moment.
The meeting between Josuke and Joseph is a sweet moment and I like that the next arc is a short little exploration of how they’re getting on with one another and seeing their relationship develop. I don’t have much to say about the heavens door arc but it’s a brilliant introduction to one of my all time favourite JoJo’s characters Rohan Kishibe. Araki’s artistic depiction of his stand powers is fantastic, the way it’s drawn is so amazing
Another BANGER of a volume from Diamond, getting back on track with its ACTUAL main character and putting Koichi in his god damn place as a side character now that the Josuke/Joseph storyline has started. This is a pretty jam packed volume, and I think that all of it is really good - Tonio is one of my favorite minor side characters, Chili Pepper is a really good villain, there's a frickin INVISIBLE BABY, and we get the start of the Rohan arc which DOES involve more Koichi focus but the rest of the volume was too good for me to care.
To me, something like the Tonio fight is part of what makes Diamond so great to me although I do imagine that for other people it's what they perhaps don't like about Diamond do much because its so low stakes. But the slice of life energy of this part has always improved it rather than detracted from it for me, and especially after literally just finishing Stardust, the way the stand user encounters can sometimes completely subvert the generic villain of the week formula feels especially fun. Also, I know the other thing people hate about this part is that it canonized Joseph cheating on his wife but lets be real - that is absolutely in character for him.
Quote of the Volume:
"HNG...! How?! How did you know it was ME? Tell me!"
"Do you want to know?"
"Yes... How did you... Know?"
"I was gonna punch BOTH of you. 'Cause I'm not smart."
- Akira Otoishi and Okuyasu Nijimura

Out of all the bizarre things that have happened - and there have been nothing but - I think “Let’s go eat some Italian food!” has to be one of the most bizarre arcs yet. Not because of the Stands, not because of the battles or the characters… but the nature of the story, in which Okuyasu has good things happen to him with no catch. The proverbial “other shoe” never drops and it’s that very anticlimactic conclusion that makes it so climactic! Stands out as memorable even among an otherwise memorable cycle of arcs.
Next up: Chili Pepper. He’s sick. Great dialogue, cool and mostly straightforward powers, freaky design. What more could you ask? One of those Stand’s whose powers aren’t so totally off-the-wall, but styles still make the fights. What really makes it a good arc is Okuyasu. He’s running away as the best character in P4 so far, and the Nijimura revenge/redemption subplot is the best part of this volume (justtt over Kishibe). Does a lot for his character.
Then, back to the regularly scheduled Jojo freakshow- invisi-baby. It’s fun and brings Josuke and his estranged father Joseph to a more amicable relationship. Less fun but every bit as jaw-dropping in terms of creative writing (pun intended) is Rohan Kishibe. Holy crap, what a phenomenal character. Heaven’s Door is INSANE on paper, and Kishibe is such a fun exploration of a story breaking the fourth wall, being meta, and also being completely and totally over-dramatic.
Okayasu and Josuke stumble upon an Italian trattoria where the chef is a stand user. Okayasu enjoys an Italian feast but Josuke ends up cleaning the chef's kitchen in defeat. Red chili pepper is after Joseph Joestar, the gang must reach him before Red hot chili pepper does or Joseph is done for. Red hot chili pepper's user is defeated and Joseph makes it safely to Morioh. An invisible baby finds Joseph and Josuke, the trouble is the baby is not only invisible but can also make things disappear making it an ordeal. Meanwhile, Koichi finds out Rohan Kishibe a famous mangaka lives in Morioh but it turns out he's a total weirdo and a stand user.

A hilarious and charming volume. While diamond is unbreakable is more episodic in nature than the rest of jojo, without a compelling mission goal, the focus on lighter moments, characters, and comedy is highly entertaining. You could even consider it jojo as a sitcom.
4 “battles” here. The Italian food and invisible baby are good examples of the light comedy of jojo part 4. Chili pepper goes on too long and is more of your normal kind of stand battle. Forgettable. And the last part with Rohan Kishibe is excellent, offering some insight into Araki’s own thought processes on manga and introducing one of jojo’s best characters.
Another fantastic volume containing some of my favourite moments from part four, including the battle with Red Hot Chili Pepper, but most notably for me is the introduction of Rohan Kishibe (and his stand, Heaven’s Door) his introduction is beyond creepy and I absolutely love when Araki takes a creepy direction with a character.
Rohan also features in many other Stories which are also worth checking out. (Rohan at the Louvre & Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe)

Probably my favorite volume from part 4. I like Tonio and I not gonna lie, I really wanted him to join the group. I need to meet him asap because the wait for the GI doctor is insane lol. Joseph comes into town and finally meets his youngest son Josuke. Rohan, who I've heard lots about is introduced. I enjoyed all of the bizarre stories in this volume!
In part 4 we had Stands designed to star in a Street Fighter game and in part 4 we get Stands that are actually incredibly useful in real life. Pearl Jam and Heaven's Door could be used to make yourself a great career in medicine and police/writing.
I'd definitely go to Tonio's for a nice Italian meal and a cure for sleepiness.
¡AMOR A ROHAM!!!!!!!!!!
This volume’s really fun. First off Let’s go eat Italian food is a complete classic. Chili Pepper fight is a lot of fun. Father son bonding. And Rohan’s just a freak. So much to love.
(Everybody just loves to harass Koichi cause he’s such a lovable guy <3)
