Blurb: Carlie planned to finish at the top of her class, get a corporate job, and work her way up the ladder. She refused to risk having a life of poverty ever again. Within her plans there was no room for a relationship. So she had sworn off men; especially the good Dr. Nicolas Antonis.Nicolas had other plans. They included her becoming his.As if Nicolas wasn’t a big enough distraction; Carlie had to worry about her roommate’s, abusive ex-boyfriend, coming for her too.Nicolas is the second novel in the Risking Love series.
Yes, the heat level has gone up to a '9' compared with Callie Carmans first book. She says not, but I disagree. If you like your romances with plenty of spice, and some extra drama added, you'll love this book. As in 'Patrick,' the characters are well rounded, and they continue to populate this read. the story line works well, and runs smoothly. As I said, if your a romance reader, this is the book for you
This book was a great follow up of the Risking Love series. Ms Carmen is an outstanding writer and as a reader, I felt everything as if I was part of the story. The passion was intense and the suspense was gripping. I strongly recommend this book.
Carlie is a go-getter, a top college achiever with aspirations to succeed in the corporate world. She didn't plan on falling in love with the sexy Dr. Nicolas Antonis. But how could she knock back a good man, and an attractive one too? The chemistry is wild, the love scenes are steamy, and Nicolas won't give up on Carlie.
Beyond the physical, there is the personal magnetic pull between the couple. They are good together and both care about the people they love. Carlie and Nicolas share the same values, and they would do whatever it takes to protect a friend from an abusive ex-boyfriend, who causes a lot of unwanted trouble.
Overall, I loved reading Nicolas, and I will be reading another installment in the Risking Love series. They represent real-life situations and give the magic sparkle of love and romance.
Carlie has had a hard life. She is in school to be an accountant, hoping to put her old life behind her. She is part of a group of girlfriends trying to find their way in life. She just doesn't have time for a relationship. Nicholas is the second book of the Risking Love series. Dr Nicholas Antonis is finishing up medical school when his eyes met Carlie's across a dance floor. Carlie has no time for a man in her life right now. Jaq, one of her friends is getting married, but will Carlie ever have that of of love? The sparks fly between Carlie and Nicolas, but will it be enough? I adore Nicholas and his family. So many handsome, single men. When Carlie tells Nicholas about her past, will be leave her? This is a great book with romance and of course a villain. It's steamy without being crass. I love these books and can't wait to read the rest of them. Damon, Nicholas' brother really has me intrigued. I received this book from author and Black Velvet Seductions for a honest review.
Just when Carlie Keith had sworn off men…along comes Nicolas Antonis. With his smooth moves on the dance floor, he was hard to resist.
Nicolas studied medicine, currently in his residency, Carlie was on the downside of a college graduation in accounting. Neither had time for a relationship & both had future plans.
But things quickly changed. All bets were off when the couple made love and she met his family. But she was hiding her own background, all for good reason.
The couple’s relationship evolves into one of trust, loyalty, and faith. And surprises!
Would like to have read less of the sexual encounters and references. However, great story!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This time around it's Carlie's turn. If you read Patrick, which I strongly recommend, then you know that she has goals and a two year plan. Then along comes Nicolas. He's gorgeous, a doctor, and comes from a big loving Greek family. Add to that, he is genuinely a nice guy. Wait until you meet his family. One word. Damon. Man he's impressive. The plot is well thought out with situations both outside of the relationship and in. Very well written with a level of suspense that will drive you forward without stressing you too much. A perfect balance of heat and emotionally touching scenes as well. I look forward to the next one. www.reviewsforthosewholoveagoodbook.w...
I loved Patrick, so I wasn't sure I could like Nicolas as much... but I think I love Nicolas even more. He is tender, sensual, caring, and doesn't give up on Carlie, even when she keeps pushing him away because of her insecurities. I liked the way the author ratchets up the tension by keeping the characters away from true emotional intimacy even though physically they're as close as can be (those scenes are hot!!) I liked the friends, too. I look forward to reading Joseph and Violet's story. My favourite is Tessa, though. I can't wait to find out how she reaches her happily ever after!
I read Patrick, first in the Risking Love series, when it first came out and enjoyed it. But I liked Nicolas even more! He’s a dream boyfriend, even if he has to convince Carlie to think of him as such. She has a plan for her life, to rise above the poverty she came from, and it doesn’t include having a distraction in her life like Nicolas. Her big fear is that if Nicolas meets her family he will change how he feels about her. She doesn’t know him very well yet! Once he sets his mind on Carlie, she might as well throw in the towel. Fast read and well worth the time!
3.5 stars really - The writing is excellent. Carmen has honed her craft as an author and is quite skilled as an writer. The story was good but the female main character annoyed me. She was a bit whiny for my taste and wasn't open to falling in love. While I wasn't a fan of the female main character, I LOVED Carmen's writing. She writes her men really well. She writes interactions between characters well. The plot was good. I enjoyed her writing style and her techniques and will definitely read another of her books.
What a fantastic read, I fell in love with Nicolas from the moment he took Carlie in his arms and made her dance. You will fall for Nicolas and his family. (which I cannot wait to read more about those sexy Greeks). I like how friends stick together to protect each other. Carlie was ashamed of where she came from, and she wanted a better life for herself, and the moment she finally realized that she needed to let Nicolas in and tell him who she was and where she was from, it didn't matter to him. He fell in love with the woman that he dances with the sassiness the smarts she was. I highly recommend you start reading this series from Callie Carmen. I'm sure there is more to come that will be amazing.
Just finished Nicolas, the second in the Risking Love Series by Callie Carmen. I liked it better than the first book in the series called Patrick. The characters were real, had real motivation, and real love. Plus the author brought back the group of college friends who hang out together and all have shared goals of being successful career women, which is a great message. This women are smart, sexy, and driven. Love that. Can't wait for the third in the series. I'll be getting my paperback in that one too.
This book is all about love and friendships. The chemistry between Carlie and Nicolas was hot, but I particularly liked all of the friendships and family connections the two had. The author did a wonderful job of weaving this into a great storyline that kept my interest until the very end. It took me right back to my college days when everything was fresh, exciting, but also so darn scary and uncertain. I loved watching Carlie's self-esteem develop throughout the story as well. If you like hot romance, this book is for you.
