Overview: You've learned the basic knit stitches. You've seen the knitting influencers online. The dream of wearing your own colors for the colder weather keeps you motivated. Where do you start? this book has several patterns inspired by international knitters and wearables.

Dislikes: There is a heavy dose of enviromentalism in this book. My problem is this kind of insistence can lock people out of a beneficial craft. Many times acrylic, and basic cotton, are cheaper, and more easily used materials for knitters to begin with.

Likes: we get some interesting suggestions for each city that is referenced. There, were tips and tricks for getting started, as well as finishing the projects.

Conclusion: This is a good book for those who have gotten past the knitted dishcloths. Enjoy the patterns.

If you fancy yourself a cosmopolitan who has recently developed an interest in learning to knit, this book could prove to be very inspiring. It’s a basic introduction paired with patterns inspired by major cities. Their idea of what is beginner friendly is a little different from my own entree into the world of knitting. Them: start with bigger needles, made of less slippery wood, and chunky yarns that knit up fast. Me: start with small aluminum needles and slip and slide all over the place knitting lacey mohair held double. You can order a kit from them with some supplies to get started. Not a bad gift for a beginner. I thrifted my first knitting supplies and then found my local yarn store once I knitted my first few objects. Not everyone has access to those local crafty supplies, though. The straightforward patterns may appeal to some people, but I prefer to trawl Ravelry.com, a website for fiber folks and their projects/patterns. How else would I discover absurd projects like grape cozies? Yes, they’re a knit cover for individual grapes.

beautiful photos. I loved the knitwear based on location vibe, BUT I really thought there would be more patterns???
Fun to flip through, but not worth the buy. Check it out from the library.

This a pretty coffee table book, but if I didn’t already know the stitches, the photo instructions would not be helpful. I think I’ll end up making 2 or 3 of the patterns.

This one is difficult to judge. The pictures are wonderful and of course the authors are selling their products. It truly is for beginners, I'd do some things differently.
Most patterns are easy to knit. To leave it that way you won't find any shaping in sweaters or cardies.
As this came at a good price thanks to kindle I now have the patterns that you normally only get in packages with the wool. I already had the Martina pattern and I am working on a seamless version. This one just calls for it.
All in all this book is beautifully done, just not for advanced knitters.

I absolutely enjoyed We are Knitters. I thought it was a book about people knitting but it turned out to be a book that not only had fun easy patterns but beautiful pictures with a story about how We Are Knitters started. I've been knitting for over ten years and most knitting books don't have any patterns I want to work on. This book actually had 3! All of the patterns uses big needles and chunky wool.
I also learned how acrylic yarn affects the environment and natural fibers are better to work with. I definitely needed this inspiration.

This book is great for a beginner knitter, someone who is new to garments, or just enjoy chunky knits. The first half of the book is instructional (think of the vogue knitting ultimate knitting book) in that they show you how to do all the things called for in the patterns in the later half of the book.

Beautifully photographed. Patterns look simple enough that I can make them. First half of book dedicated to breaking down stitch techniques and terminology necessary for knitting. Loses a star bc authors ‘speak’ millennial and text (‘Lol,’ etc) throughout.

Most of the patterns here are for chunky yarns and the shapes are simple and blocky, therefore this would be great for beginners. If you are looking for shaping and delicate, go elsewhere! Being an expert knitter, I was looking purely at the patterns and skipped over the story of WAK but figured they were definitely hawking their yarns besides this book. Nothing in here attracted me, too shapeless and I'm too heavy to look good in such chunky yarns.

The pictures are pretty, but the pattern sizing is incredibly disappointing.

This is for beginners. The patterns are simple, but I like most of them. Sometimes simple is best.
