Rate this book
A captured princess just wants a good night’s sleep! Shhh…

Kidnapped by the Demon King and imprisoned in his castle, Princess Syalis is…bored.

Princess Syalis has a new admirer, and the other demons are jealous—one in particular. How far will he go to dissuade her weaselly suitor? Then summer arrives! Syalis tries to cool off by telling ghost stories to make herself shiver but instead strikes fear into her demon captors’ hearts. Then the Demon Cleric botches a resurrection, accidentally merging himself with another, cuter demon. And finally it’s time for the Demon Castle Super Summer Festival! Naturally Syalis enters the beauty pageant. Who will be her competition? Wait—are those demons...in drag ?!

Pretty good stuff. Nice and light and cute and funny. I can't wait for the next one, especially after the cliffhanger this one ended on, and all the stuff in volume 10's synopsis! 4 stars. Impressive that the series has gone on for nine volumes without feeling stale or repetitive. Probably because of the episodic stories.

Loved the chapter focusing on Leo’s “transformation” that allowed him to be closer to Syalis. I know nothing will develop romantically — it is a gag manga, after all — but it is so cute to see his crush on her grow over the course of the series.

I absolutely loved the anime ‘Sleepy princess in the demon castle’ so when i found out my library had the manga i HAD to read them. And they did not disappoint.

If the anime is funny, these books are 10 times better. The humour is perfect and I cannot stop laughing aloud whenever I read these. The art is beautiful, and I cannot get over how funny but interesting the concept of this series is.

1000000/10 recommend you read this, it's funny and such a good read!

This is hilarious! Teddy Demon and Demon Cleric trade places, the summer festival with the hostage cafe. I also love the dig at themselves at the beginning where they say they couldn't make a manga about a sleepy princess... it would get passed volume one!

Between the demon beauty pageant and the princess attempting to treat the inner circle’s hangovers, volume 9 had me laughing so hard I cried. Enough said.

More Hijinks In The Demon Castle

Another fun entry in the series. There's a festival arc, as well as getting some more time with a new character, and some extra cuteness. There's nothing too groundbreaking, but if you're a fan of the series, you'll definitely enjoy this entry.

Ok, I loved the first few stories in this volume much more than the ending stories. The demons getting turned into toddlers was just so cute and the manga section was so funny. Just everything here is so much fun and I don't know how the story has been able to keep up that energy but I don't care as long as that energy stays up.

Reread:
- These demons bending over backward to appease the princess as they continually forget that she is their hostage, has returned here of her own volition, and hates the hero.
- The princess is as thick as a brick when it comes to seeing things right in front of her face
- The baby story, everyone gets to be teddy demon-sized
- Stalkers, the lot of them
- The princess is definitely the craftiest person in the castle, apart from maybe M-O-T-H-E-R
- More interesting information, heights: Twilight: 5’11 Syalis:4’11
- Oh the things those boys have to do to keep the princess from acquiring OP items, today they dressed in drag and entered a beauty pageant
- A rare moment of legitimate friendship desires from the princess, so, of course, there is a massive misunderstanding

This was a good fun volume. I like the continued character development. I also (in this case) like that the volume ended with a bit of a cliffhanger.
I look forward to the next volume.

One of the silliest volumes I have read! Love the romantic and giddy shenanigans of the characters in this volume! Not unique, but those stories suit my taste 🤣📖👌🏽
