First-person accounts of the most memorable moments in Steelers history!
After enduring decades as one of professional football’s worst teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers began their streak of dominance in the 1970s, recording four world championships in that decade alone. The Steelers now share the record for most Super Bowl appearances (8) and championships (6).
Now supporters of one of the NFL’s most storied franchises will go into the locker room and onto the turf with over twenty Steelers legends in this newly updated version of Game of My Life Pittsburgh Steelers . Sportswriter Matt Loede opens the doors to players’ private remembrances of how it was and how they reacted to the spotlight. Big touchdowns, career-making moments, and championship glory shared all come to the surface for Steelers of the past half-century. Readers will hear tales from Hall of Famers such as Joe Greene, Jack Ham, Mel Blount and fan favorites including Charlie Batch, Tunch Ilkin, and Mike Tomczak.
Within these pages, Pittsburgh gridiron greats offer glimpses of the National Football League in the 1960s, the 1970s, and right up through the 2018 season. More than forty years of Steelers experience is represented in this collection of tales told by the men who played in some of the most memorable games in franchise history.
In "Game of My Life Pittsburgh Steelers: Memorable Stories of Steelers Football" they go over many football legends whose careers were made with the black and gold. They get personal stories, comments from fans, and give their own take on the journeys of the amazing players they describe. Things I Liked: Some things I liked about this book was the formatting of the book itself, they put their own take, personal stories and then the players perspective. Another thing I liked about this book was the information they gave you on every player throughout their career, they give you information about their height, weight, position and sometimes they even speak about the players upbringing. They also Give backgrounds on when they were playing, who and their most memorable games in the NFL, they explain all of this with what feels like a love for the black and gold. They describe some wins as invigorating, or some loses as crushing or devastating, they set a really nice tone and make it somewhat of an emotional read if your a fan. Things I Didn't Like: This book is filled with so many good things it really leaves no room for anything bad, although it is a bit of a hard read if you like reading things in a day, but if you enjoy football its an easy read. Summary: This book has a ton of strong points and maybe only one bad thing if your not familiar with football or don't enjoy it very much. For Steelers fans this book is almost like a dictionary for some of their most amazing player, so if you enjoy football or happen to be a fan of the black and gold I'd highly suggest reading this book.
Enjoyable book with a variety of Steelers sharing their memories from the 1960s-present day. Would have liked to see a little more elaboration with some of the stories, but all in all a nice, fun read. Liked that players from all eras and not just superstars were represented. Recommended.
Even though I love the Steelers and I remember most of these players and the games they discuss; this book simply isn’t good. Some of the memories read like a 10 minute phone interview. And too many typos for a professional publication. This book could have been so much better.
